Convenient for pretty much everything. Slap bang in the city centre, but also a short walk to Manchester Piccadilly station, ie a great base. Staff were excellent, price was good and a great breakfast, particularly the cooked English. The premises were clean though are a bit tired tbh. It could do with a bit of a renovation tbh. Other than that all good

Arrived at 3.30pm to check in, was asvised bar didnt open until around 8pm (despite website saying offered hotel bar) room was spotless with comfy bed. Went to see a show and was back at hotel 11.04pm was told bar shut at 11pm! Hotel in great location despite this.

Nice, comfortable stay. If you buy the breakfast in advance it's a bargain. You're allowed one "menu" breakfast (full English/ pancakes/ porridge /scrambled eggs on toast/etc) which is cooked to order plus unlimited from the buffet (cereal, yoghurt, pastries, fruit, toast, ham, cheese, etc) which is a good balance between generosity and waste reduction. Beds were comfy enough. It was very hot the weekend we were there, but a fan was provided and the cold water was able to get very cold which was a relief. Rooms have a kettle but no fridge. Staff were always very helpful and kind. We were able to keep all our bags there all day after checking out for just £5 for the whole lot which I thought was very reasonable. We also turned up at 10pm the day we were supposed to leave needing another night's stay because the trains had all gone wrong. Needless to say we were exhausted and stressed but the staff member on the desk was incredibly helpful. Because of the extra day, we tried both the standard double and the standard twin rooms - both very pleasant. It's also a very reasonable price for the location - just a 10-15 minute walk to Piccadilly station and similar or even less to Sackville Gardens where our event was. I would absolutely stay here again and hope to next year.

Our experience at this hotel was far from satisfactory. The cleanliness left much to be desired, and the furniture was old and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, there was no lift access to our floor, which was quite inconvenient. The TV didn’t work, and throughout our stay, there was no WiFi connection—neither in the room nor in the lounge area. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

It was 10-minute walk from Piccadilly, so really convenient for my purposes since I was only staying for one night. The room was ok, but really warm (even though it was not hot outside). At least there was a fan. Also, there was a noise outside my room (103) or nearby, like a generator/motor that was going off every hour or so. Some may have found it pleasant, like white noise, but I found it really annoying to sleep with. I didn't find the place spotless clean - some stains in bathroom and had to pay 5 pounds to leave luggage for the day after check-out. It's usually free in other hotels I've stayed in.

First impression is that the hotel is far worse than its ratings suggest. It was difficult to find through a back door which the taxi driver had difficulty to spot. It was very inaccessible as we had to carry large pieces of luggage up a staircase to the reception. The rooms and interior are badly in need of renovation. The shower was not working in one of the two rooms and despite mentioning it at the reception, it was never fixed before we left. On the positive side, the staff were very polite (except for not fixing the shower) and the cleaning ladies were very good. The position is central and therefore very convenient.

Overnight stay, check-in quick. Staff friendly, rooms comfy & clean. Also check-out is 11am, which is brill when you've had a very late night out. WiFi not brill but maybe because we were in a room at the back surrounded by other buildings. Didn't spoil our stay though.

After seeing mixed reviews online we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Hallways a little tired and could do with updating but entrance and restaurant were fine. Very pleased with the standard of room which was clean and very comfortable. We will be back! 🙂

Well located on Picadilly, but the room was very dated and shabby and really needs refreshing. The whole place was not well maintained and felt unkempt. The carpet and sofa had stains all over see pics and kept my socks on. It was very hot with little air flow and no air con so didnt sleep well at all. There was a plug in oil heater so assume the radiator doesn't work. Filthy windows. Expensive for what it was. I would not choose to stay here again. Also could hear everything from the neighbouring room, including a man vomitting very loudly in the morning. Not a pleasant experience.

This place did not at all match the photos and description. We checked out one hour after checking in and had to find alternate accommodations. It was dirty and smelly from the front lobby, elevator, hallways and rooms.

Probably one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The entrance was run down and unwelcoming although better once at reception area. We were met by a miserable receptionist who clearly dislikes her job. The receptionist on check out was more cheerful and the cleaner was friendly when we left. The room was small, tired and dated. The wall paper was lifting from the wall. The carpets were dirty as were the windows. There was a pair of knickers left on the floor by the previous guest. I dreaded going back to the room after an evening out. I was worried the sheets would not be clean but they seemed clean and the bed was relatively comfortable although my husband thought it uncomfortable. We didn't bother with breakfast after reading other reviews. At least it was warm when coming in at night when it was cold outside. We will not return again.

The hotel was in a good location, however the room I was allocated was dirty. The carpet had bad stains on it and was very tired and old. The table and chair were dirty and the card I was given for the room didn't work. The overall feel of the hotel was it was very tired and old and in a real need of an upgrade...Overall, it wasn't a great experience staying here.

It was a room for the night, clean and convenient but no frills and you get what you pay for, unfortunately I wouldn’t want to stay there again. The staff were polite and helpful all credit to them. The property would benefit from refurbishment, replacing worn carpets and decor. The bedroom was very basic, the extractor in the bathroom did not work, simple maintenance could improve the experience a great deal. I would call this a basic lodging rather than a reasonable hotel.

I liked the location, it was close to the shopping area and Piccadilly train station. Unfortunately that also meant lots of noise at night which was to be expected. I brought earplugs with me so not too much of a problem. I was there in November. It was very cold in the room. Luckily there's an electric heater that you can plug in and turn on in the bedroom. There was also an extra blanket to put on the bed which I def needed. Unfortunately there was no heater for the bathroom which stayed cold throughout my stay. A big minus for me was the mold on the windows in the bedroom and on the tiles in the bathroom.

The room on the surface looked amazing, room 202. It was an "Executive Room" and yet they still sent a message to get me to pay 20 quid for an upgrade, which you can't as it's the top room already. Then you pay on arrival the Manchester tax, oh and front forget your iD !! The more I looked at the room itself, the more faults I found. Lightbulb out Bedhead falling off Cracked windows The only opening window wouldn't shut Weed smokers outside the front of the hotel Lift smelt of weed to ...Really quite poor indeed.

I booked for one night in order to attend the final home match of the football season at the Ethiad. The location is right on Piccadilly Gardens and close to the tram to the stadium. The staff team were pleasant and quick, and the reception and lounge have refurbished nicely. I paid £150 for one night (Springsteen and Kylie were also in town) so surge pricing came into play. But my twin bedded room was not great value. My room had no windows (as advertised) so that made it look dingy. But it was generally tired and in need of refurbishment. Only two power plugs one with a fan plugged in (no a/c) and one for the TV, the internet was sporadic and stopped working on my PC (but was fine on my iPad) carpets worn, only two lights in the room meant that everything felt average. If I compare it to a premier Inn as a benchmark this was far below that. If I had paid only £75 for this - it probably would have got an extra star for value- but this was distinctly just “ok”. If I was desperate I would consider staying again but it won’t be top of my list of choices.

Bed was horrendous any slight movement and the bed was creeking, was worried it was going to break as it didn’t look in good condition. The mattress also wasn’t comfortable woke up with back ache and tired. Staff were nice and breakfast was good, but hotel rooms need major improvements especially beds, and more plugs especially next to the beds.

The hotel's superb location allows us to forgive much. Nevertheless, a window which would not fasten in February kept the room cold. Staff were informed and I was given a second electric heater which really helped, but the draft and noise was unwelcome. Reception staff are friendly but the window remained unfixed for my second night.

Room was small, as expected. The internal rooms don't have windows, which is fine - except there is little ventilation, so it's very hot and stuffy in the room (even with a portable fan). Bedsheets and towel were clean/white. However, shower does not drain properly. Walls are very thin - can hear people walking and talking, flushing toilets at all hours. Fire alarm was set off at 4am with no explanation - so did not get much sleep. Some staff friendly, others seem reluctant to help. Would not stay here again. Ever.

It is a very dated hotel. In our first room one of the windows couldn’t be closed and we had to ask for a change of the rooms. The next room had working windows but the carpet was incredibly dirty and the room smelled of cigarettes. Very cold breakfast are with another window that couldn’t be closed!

My executive room on the 2nd floor consisted of a big room and a very nice bathroom, unfortunately the windows were very old, with badly broken glass (double glassing) and didn't close properly, therefore there was a constant draught and also the noise outside was very well audible. And a safe would have been nice.

Emailed the hotel prior to submit a request and due to the nature of it, was upgraded for free. They didn’t have to do that and certainly wasn’t expecting it! Upon arrival, they were very friendly and efficient. The room in question was very spacious and clean, however it’s definitely in need of some new windows, as the current ones are old and allow for excess noise from the traffic and trams. On the morning of checkout, the room card stopped working prematurely, this was rectified promptly and was also given late checkout until 12pm. Overall very pleased with comfort, space of room and value for money. Customer service was exceptional. Thank you.

This could be the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The worst part about it was the AWFUL and INCOMPETENT staff. The blond woman with glasses who was at the desk while I was trying to check in was terribly rude and aggressive. When she realized she didn’t understand how to check my booking with a Hotels.com booking number that I provided her, she got visibly hostile and demanding of me, asking for information irrelevant to my booking. It’s very uncomfortable for me to see someone so inept and so awful. Just makes me sad that she has employment and that future guests may have to deal with her putrid attitude. I will be traveling to Manchester in the future and vow to never set foot in this establishment again. The hotel was also smelly and rundown, much like the employees working there.

Arrived early as we were going to an all day event, we expected not to be able to check-in and expected to just leave our bags until later that night. After a few minutes they found a room that was ready. Really grateful for the service from reception.

Booked Garden Hotel for a one night stay as I was attending a gig nearby. The hotel itsel is located in a perfect spot, a 10min walk from Piccadilly station and with several tram lines and buses within view of the hotel, alongside many restaurants, bars and shops right around the corner. The hotel itself is nothing fancy but fits the price bracket, whilst dated it was clean, lovely staff and my single room had what you need for a short stay. I was pleasantly surprised with the bathtub and iron+board in the room, something similarly proced hotels won’t have. Only downside is that due to the dates look it will be a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper but the location, cleanliness and staff have ensured I will return.

The hotel is located right in the center of the city. It is close to the Piccadilly Rail Station which is very convenient for travelling by train to the airport or other places in the region. There are many stores and restaurants in the area. The front desk is open 24 hours. The free WiFi is very good. The room has window but practically there is no view as it is facing structural walls of the hotel. The furniture in the room is quite old. The bed is large and comfortable. There is tea maker in the room. The heating system in the room works very well.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, great location for being close to shops, restaurants and transport. Our room was on the 2nd floor and we didn’t hear any noise at night. We booked a standard room which was a good size. Breakfast was continental and then you can choose something from the menu which is freshly cooked. We had a full English the first day and pancakes the 2nd. Great choice of breakfast. Staff were friendly and as we were there for the Oasis gig, having Liam and Noel in reception was brilliant! We would stay at this hotel if we visit Manchester again.

Great hotel for central Manchester. Stayed overnight when in town for a gig at Co-op Live. Clean and comfortable hotel. Friendly staff. Only disappointment was breakfast, as it was very busy and we were up a bit late, so ended up eating out elsewhere.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Gardens Hotel. The location is perfect if you're arriving at Piccadilly station (a six-minute walk), and it's absolutely central for everything in Manchester. I also really appreciated the breakfast. The last day I was there, they'd just changed the breakfast menu, and they now offered porridge with fruit compote!
