Overall a pleasant stay in a nice hotel. Stephen at the front desk was very personable, and helpful in getting me a quiet room away from the lifts. The shower glass partition is absurdly small, it is impossible to take even a trickling shower without getting water on the bathroom floor, which saturates the floor towel. Which you then have to move because the gap between the bathroom door and the floor is too tight to open the door with the towel on the floor. That REALLY needs to be corrected. Room didn't have a safe. What decent hotels don't offer room safes anymore? I paid $100 USD and taxes a night for a room without a safe? Or a small refrigerator for that matter?

Amazing location. Great hotel bar with pool table. Bed mattress was pretty firm. Aircon was a little noisy. Ran out of tea/sugar, but quickly restocked simply by going to reception for extras. Tesco is literally 1 min walk around the corner to get any essentials. No fridge to keep wines/beers/milk cold, and the sink was a fancy sink with no plug, so couldn't fill it with cold water to keep said drinks cool. oh well. plenty of ice in the bar.

Lovely location and very central but parking nearby is extremely expensive and no discounts available through Hotel, so shopped around and booked online for £12 for the weekend at back of Piccadilly Station Room isn’t the biggest but it’s adequate and well equipped However the decor is very tired now and needs some TLC urgently plus the carpets in the corridors are very tired or need a good shampoo! The Hotel is quirky and I’ve stayed before when it was first decorated to the theme of it always raining in Manchester which works. Nothing has put me off staying again but it’s looking a bit tired now

The hotel is always my favourite place to stay when I’m working in Manchester. The Jamboree bar is always warm and welcoming, with comfortable seating, tables and plenty of power sockets for laptops etc Reasonable selection of bar food and local trams are located just around the corner. Definitely worth a visit

Expensive for what it is. The room was really small, you could barely walk around the bed. The Aircon was hard to control, the room was cold so we tried to heat it up, put it on 28degrees but it never reached, it was still chilly. However, it's clean, staff are friendly and it's central for shopping, Christmas markets, food etc. If you want them to hold your bag after/before check out, it's £1 per bag!! Bit unfair, when the room was super expensive anyway, almost £200 for one night (Saturday)

Stayed on the 5th floor, don't know if that had anything to do with it, but getting wqrm water from the tap and shower took ages. Several minutes you had to let the water run. Also take earplugs if you are a light sleeper as the tram goes next to the hotel. Cleanliness could have been better (the carpet, dust on the curtains etc). But other than that, loved the consept of the hotel and the room was a nice size.

The room wasn’t tidied when I first entered. Used cups were in the basin and I asked the front desk to help deal with the situation. The staff were friendly and solved problem quickly. The location is close to Manchester Piccadilly. However, the room was poorly soundproofed. I could hear the ladies in the next door chatting and shouting all night long. Couldn’t sleep at all… air conditioning was so loud to the point that it was very annoying…

The room decor was tired and in need of an update. Carpet was dirty looking. Generally poor standard. Window damaged and would not close properly. Heating in room not working. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Staff replaced TV remote control promptly after original not working. Barman in restaurant rather rude for no reason. Overall quite a disappointing stay, I will not return and will not recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Manchester.

Stayed here last minute after a delayed flight to break up my journey. Think the reviews and pictures were misleading. Rooms pretty tatty and in need of TLC. Thin walls, no soundproofing and woken up by people coming in late and then someone in the next room coughing early in the morning. Wouldn’t want to stay here longer than I had to, but staff were friendly enough and location good, just overpriced for what is essentially an old travel lodge equivalent.

The beds were super comfy, towels were soft. Room was very cramped. Got hurt twice trying to squeeze past the tv(which was on the wall) to get to the bathroom! Carpets were hoovered but disgusting and wouldn't wish to walk barefoot on them. Room had been upgraded with beds, tv, wall coverings, but the paint jobs were poor and overall it looked bodged. Hate the yellow door stickers-tacky. Staff were very good and friendly too. Location good for Piccadilly station.

Room was situated right outside the lift so every time someone was coming and going I could hear everything. Room wasn’t clean, the bathroom floor had hair and the toilet seat had spots from the previous person. Not happy for the price I paid.

Great location. Rooms were nice although noisy with the trams until about 11pm. Air conditioning was also noisy and water was tepid at best which was annoying after we’d run the half marathon. Breakfast was included and was decent and the bar area was nice. Staff in arrival were a little disinterested and despite rooms being available, wouldn’t check us in without an additional fee a couple of hours early so we just went out for a walk. Beds very comfy and restaurant staff very welcoming. Tracey was particularly friendly. A good base for exploring the city and 5 mins walk to the train station.

Room was small but clean. Staff were great. Very central location. However, feel some investment needed in soundproofing for both inside & outside noise - could hear everything happening on the street outside (inc. someone on the phone on the street, with me on the 4th floor), & corridor noise. Pillows uncomfortable (for my taste), didn't get good night of sleep. Wouldn't particularly stay here again - it was fine, but there is better out there for the same £.

Room was clean and comfortable, though quite small — bijou, even. The modern, arty décor was a nice touch, if you like that sort of thing. The entrance door was very narrow, and the bathroom felt cramped, but the shower was excellent. It suited me fine on my own, though two people would need to be very close! The room wasn’t particularly warm, but the supplementary heater worked well.

I could hear people next door opening the wardrobe and moving hangers etc and everytime someone walked or talked in the corridor it was very loud in the room. Breakfast is ok- it was fine for a work trip but maybe a bit underwhelming for a holiday breakfast.

We booked into our room and started to get ready for the evening. Half way through getting ready, 2 men walked into our room, as we are women it wasn’t what we expected. It’s appears that these men had also been booked into the same room and given keys to get into the room! This is not acceptable on any level. We went to reception and they offered us a drinks voucher for our troubles! Having 2 men walk into your room while you are in varying stages of undress was frightening, eventually they gave us a 50% refund… it should have been 100%! The rooms are very tired looking lots of peeling paint and stains on the carpet.

It was ok. On arrival the reception lady who booked us in was quite rude so didn’t get off to a great start. Then key card we were given didn’t work so back to reception. Room was in desperate need to a refresh and dark but very clean. Hotel bar closed at 11 am which was a surprise. Breakfast was expensive for what there was in offer.

Mixed. Hotel operates a system of no phones. When the fire alarm went off for the second time we tried phoning reception using the number provided….no answer. When we queried at reception we were told to use a WhatsApp number to contact reception. Two days later I have received no reply to my concerns about their fire procedures. My query certainly wasn’t treated seriously by the receptionist. I am okay about using WhatsApp but they need to monitor this. As a result I have marked down the scoring for the hotel. We also noted a hole in the ceiling where there had been a leak. While this was clearly being left to dry we did not expect to find a wet carpet between the two beds! On a positive note hotel is in a great central location but my concerns over safety mean that it is unlikely I will return.

Came here for a 2 night stay, got off the train at Piccadilly station and it was about a 5 minute walk. The check in process was quick and easy and the staff were very welcoming. The room was clean and a good size and the shower was great. Location was good and near to everything we wanted, would definitely stay here again if we return to Manchester.

Appears the hotel has changed ownership between booking via Hotels.com and my checking. This means they lost the booking which took time to sort, then on checkout are 'unable' to provide receipts without speaking to the the head office which seems a basic right. They refuse to put you in touch with head office, and have the audacity to tell me the card payment receipt is fine for claiming expenses. Avoid.

Staff very helpful. Check in seamless. Room was a bit tight for 2 people, but good for the price. Breakfast was poor. Only eggs, beans, hash brown, bacon/sausage…. Fine if not a vegetarian, otherwise go out and don’t waste your money here. Overall an adequate stay for 1 night. Location is outstanding.

The hotel is located in the centre of Manchester within easy walking distance of Piccadilly station, the trams and everywhere in the centre I needed to go. The hotel appears to have changed ownership and its name from iBis to Sunday since I booked but at no point did any such new ownership create any problems for my booking. The room was cleaned daily and everything I needed worked. All in all an excellent trip and stay.

Beautiful carpets and decor, reception staff were fabulous- polite and helpful. Breakfast was ok. I like my bacon and sausages well done rather than just cooked so that was a disappointment as all the sausages were pale in colour and the bacon was just cooked. No mushrooms either. Overall we had a fantastic time, the bed was so comfortable I could have stayed forever.
