A disappointing experience overall. I had attended the hotel for a couple of days conferences previously which were good and so I thought I'd stay overnight to see what it was like. Positives - Food was average or ok, comfortable bed and generally clean housekeeping. Pendulum centrepiece is interesting from a historical perspective. Negatives - poor value for money, disorganisation of hotel, some of the staff were rude / unprofessional / inappropriate, flimsy shower rail in the bathroom, decor needs some care and attention. Room manager was helpful however and compensated me with a free lunch for issues with the check in and poor customer service while I was there. Unfortunately let down by the rest of the team. There are plenty of other much better hotels in Manchester and I will be avoiding this one in future.

The main areas of the hotel are lovely, well maintained and well signposted. The burgers in the bar were really excellent. The staff were nice and the hotel was a really good venue for the convention, with good spaces for presenting as well as large meeting rooms. Nothing ever felt cramped. The room itself was functional, just enough space for the weekend but I wouldn't stay there for much longer, the bed was quite uncomfortable and squeaky. The shower was fine. When we asked for another duvet reception seemed fairly confused, and gave us a matress topper and a dirty sheet to cover it? The location of the hotel is also good, just a 15 minute walk into the busier part of town. The carpark is conveniently located but had signs up that it would be closing 20th Oct 24. A nice enough place for an event

Close to student accomodation and inside a conference centre. Classic room sizable enough, clean, bed cheap and uncomfortable. Would say that if its location you want, stay, if its part of something more meaningful, or you need a good nights sleep, there are better options. On the plus side, staff, all obviously students, were friendly and curtious, and the canteen style breakfast was pretty good.

The main thing to understand is that this is like a university residence. My room was a true single - including a single bed - and very small desk, bathroom (but private!), etc. However, I was expecting this and it was all I needed for one night. The place has all the other normal things you'd expect in a hotel - luggage storage, on-site restaurant, etc. The breakfast was much more elaborate than expected, and very hearty! Location is very good as well, within walking distance of the Medieval Quarter and the historical sites and museums (but not convenient for the Etihad or Old Trafford stadiums). Also close to Piccadilly Station, which was a big selling point for me.

Lovely quiet hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Room very comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities, TV, hairdryer, ironing board and toiletries all included. It's in short walking distance of Piccadilly station and the Christmas markets. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I enoyed my stay.

The hotel was everything I expected the only thing was disappointing was when we went to eat on Friday night we were told they were not doing food for guests because they had Christmas parties if I had been informed beforehand I would have cancelled my stay even the reception didn’t know this was happening Best thing we were given a 20% off voucher we couldn’t use The reception staff were excellent

The room allocated had terrible black mould in bathroom, window, walls over window. Allocated another room , significantly less mould. Dirty cups in restaurant, chairs with stains , tired looking and in need of an aggressive deep clean . Breakfast dishes not replenished, so if you’re not a 7:30 person you don’t stand much chance ! Wouldn’t recommend this hotel , only chose it because my conference was there !! Wish I could of got a refund for the stress of changing rooms and the rude manger ! 🙄

Room was very disappointing & in need of a refurb & deep clean. Very small which was obviously a student hall beforehand. £80 for this room is a disgusting price. Bathroom was littered with hair & the previous guest’s socks! Also some kind of body fluid up the wall by the toilet! When booking with yourselves it said we would get free breakfast also but when we checked in we were told this wasn’t the case & said it was an error on your website & would not honour it. Staff looked very uninterested. Terrible experience & wont be returning

Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean. I know it's a conference centre and there is a lot of traffic through the hotel but the carpets in and out of the room are grubby and have stains on them & it looks like it needs a repaint in some areas. This is the first time I've stayed here and paid more than I usually do than at the hotels I frequent, where I get a bigger room and everything looks fresh.

The place looks a bit dated, needs a refresh and some paint. Our double room was extremely small. We could not bot move around at the same time. Having said that, a good location for the city centre and transport links and the service was friendly and efficient

Tired dated room, extremely small. Double bed was broken which prompted us to look at the mattress which was stained and filthy. The noise from other guests ( doors slamming ) was horrendous. We stayed for 2 hours and promptly booked somewhere else

We paid £160 for a night in a room that we would normally expect to pay around £80 for. The room was small, the bed very small, the decor tired with a view over a derelict car park and really noisy, we could clearly hear the guy in the next room cleaning his throat and then spitting, not really what you want to be woken to at 7am. The selection of tea and coffee was poor, again for this price we would expect more choice. On the plus side, the shower was nice and powerful with plenty of hot water but we were given only one set of towels between the 2 of us (they were nice thick towels)

A clean and functional place to stay near the Gay Village for Pride. The room was small but not ridiculously so. The shower was wonderfully powerful. But I couldn't come back - the room got very warm indeed overnight (it was August), with no air conditioning or fan. It was an uncomfortable stay.

It was a last minute booking! Price was perfect and to be totally honest the only thing that was not great was how hot the room was as it was so hot outside! I would stay here again but in a bigger room!

Great place to stay for a day or two. Comfy beds and lovely customer service. Rooms are bit outdated but its ok for the price. Only negative was the room was way too warm and there doesnt seem to be air conditioning. Fan in the room needs replacing as you cant really feel it at all. Overall good place. Would probably stay again.

We had a great stay at this hotel! The staff were super friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Although our room wasn’t quite ready, they happily stored our bags so we could head out and explore—really appreciated that. Check-in was quick and easy. We didn’t opt for breakfast, so can’t comment on that, but everything else was spot on. We booked a compact room—it was definitely on the smaller side, but perfect for what we needed. Clean, tidy, and the shower was lush. They even had a fan in the room, which was a lifesaver since it did get quite hot. Overall, a great little hotel and I’d definitely stay here again!

Worst hotel ever. Rude staff, dirty rooms and totally inaccessible for disabled travellers. I was told off at check in for not calling to book a disabled room even though I booked it online and had a confirmation from the hotel. Avoid at all costs!!

Room was basic, but nice enough, The mattress was very thin though, so much so that you could feel the bed frame below when sitting or lying on it. Location was good, only a short walk from Oxford road station.

Another brilliant stay at the Pendulum Hotel! Lovely room and kind helpful staff! Due to it being a Friday night it was a little bit louder than the previous 2 nights but it was very comfortable nonetheless. Bathroom was spotless however the shower was a little tricky to figure out due to it being attached to the bath faucet. Highly recommend the classic double room! The hotel is in a great location, just a five minute walk from Piccadilly station and a 15/20 minute walk from deansgate! Bar on the next street which have cheap drinks and a spar shop for essentials! There is also a pitstop at the reception for refreshments!

Not the best stay. I was here a few years ago and it seemed fine so I decided to give it another go. It now needs a bit of work on the rooms to modernise them. Windows not closing properly etc. Breakfast was supposed to start at 7:30 but most mornings the food didn't arrive until 7:45 which made us late for work. Will probably not use again.

Very nice hotel convenient for the university. Very well maintained and decorated. Rooms clean and well maintained. Rooms a little small but more than adequate for a few days visiting the city. The breakfasts have a wide selection of choices. The breakfast room was welcoming and clean. The hot breakfast was excellent- although would have liked some black pudding and scambled eggs. Very nice hotel- have been here before and will probably visit again.

Full English Breakfast available for £11, but not a sandwich! I have to be up early around half seven, but don't want a big breakfast. In the restaurant, I asked if i could just buy a bacon sandwich, but was told NO! Full breakfasts only! I had to walk half a mile into Manchester city centre to find a Greggs! Shame, the bacon looked great...

No bacon sandwiches! £10 for a Full English Breakfast may be good, but what if you only want a bacon sandwich? Nope! I gotta walk a mile into the city centre to cisit Greggs!
