Located in Old Montreal, in an updated historic building, with a great ground floor restaurant. Because the hotel has been created from multiple buildings, the halls on each floor have stairs mid-hall (two small sets to get from elevator to our 3rd floor room. Quiet if your room faces the center open space (but no view for those rooms). Great bed, linens, AC. No ice machines (room service glad to bring up ice). Small but well appointed exercise room. Two smallish elevators for 5 floors. The rooftop has a separate restaurant/bar that is unfortunately not just for hotel guests, so boisterous locals crowd the elevator and it's really noisy up top. It's a "boutique" hotel but that 5th floor foot traffic makes it sometimes chaotic.

Excellent location near the Basilica and old port with easy walking or public transit around the city. The staff at the hotel were exceptional, particularly the concierge, Jonathan Hug. He went above and beyond to help my husband plan an anniversary surprise and daily assisted us in planning our stay with suggestions and help with reservations. We also enjoyed complimentary sparkling wine and treats in our room and a complimentary upgrade to a petite suite. Our stay was truly memorable! The gentlemen who helped with luggage and parking our car were also exemplary. Highly recommend!

Absolutely delightful boutique hotel. I highly recommend staying here! The rooftop bar and restaurant were the best I’ve ever experienced. The food, drinks, music, atmosphere and view made for an amazing evening. The room and hotel staff were also exceptional. I would definitely come back again and will recommend to anyone interested in coming to Montreal.

Nice Property and very friendly staff. The Valets are awesome and friendly. Rooms are extremely clean and the beddings extremely confortable. We stayed for four nights. We told the valet that our departure time would be 4:30 am and he wrote it down in front of us.... Next morning at 4:15 am guy at the front desk was sleeping on the couch and car was still in parking lot locked. He gave us the keys and we walked down the alley (at 4 am) only to find the lot locked. walked back to hotel and couldn't find the service guy.... luckily the janitor cleaning the floor ran around and found him and brought the remote to open the gate. Left the hotel late but made our flight... Thanks to cleaning guy who could tell we were freaking out !!!! Not sure why the car wasn't just left in front of the hotel the night before. The street was empty.

The hotel is old and has a lot of charm. Overall a 5 star experience. Some minor things to improve: * Carpet in hotel rooms is not good. No matter how much you clean, it will never be clean. * Room did have a musky smell. Most likely from that carpet.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely hospitable & helpful. Hotel is conveniently located in heart of old Montreal with numerous attractions, restaurants and shops easily walkable. There is currently construction on street outside as well as hotel being renovated inside, but did not affect our experience. Would definitely stay at Hotel Nelligan again.

The property is in an excellent location. The bed and linens were excellent. The bathrooms were recently updated however the carpeting is very old and therefore has a slightly misty odor. Thanks for the disposable slippers. We certainly would not have felt comfortable removing shoes otherwise. The staff were helpful. Visited the beef steakhouse on the property for dinner. Unfortunately the short ribs were not available and that is the reason we selected this place for dinner. We had ribs and salmon, both of which were very good. The rooftop bar rates a 10 in our opinion. Amazing atmosphere and cocktails.

The room itself was very nice with lots of personal touches and amenities. It had a nice jacuzzi tub, comfortable bed, fireplace, stocked minibar (needed more Coke Zero however), and was very clean. The staff was very polite, welcoming, and attentive. The downside was that our room seemed to be just below the terrace restaurant and it was very loud on the Thursday night of our stay. Very loud, until 3 am. There was also some sort of loud construction type vibration noise at 11 pm as well. Our room on our previous stay was peaceful, on the second floor instead of the fourth. There was some noise from construction on the road in front of the hotel early on the week day morning but other than that it was quiet.

Great location. Close to shops and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Try to stay in a room on the front as the back is noisy due to an alley full of garbage and bottle recycling bins. They are emptied early in the morning during the week.

This hotel was beautiful! In a great walkable area by Notre Dame and many shops and restaurants! Our room was beautiful with king size bed, fireplace and overlooking the quaint street below. A wonderful place to stay!

Hotel is showing its age. Lighting in the rooms is poor (very hard to put on make-up or shave). Location is terrific - all the old port and old Montreal interests are within easy walking distance. Hair dryer provided had a melt-down that was pretty scary. At checkout they told us that room renos were starting this week, so issues may be dealt with soon. Rooftop terrace restaurant is a fun place with decent food and Mama C restaurant has good food.

Hotel Nelligan is a beautiful hotel with several very lovely and delicious dining options. We enjoyed the location in Old Montreal with many shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean. We would stay here again.

The bad: This hotel is under renovations and they mention it no where at all. Was awoken at 630am by hammering above me after getting to bed at 1am. Management resolved the issue, but it seems they have little control or know about the happenings with the contractor. Set a very bad tone for my entire stay. Also, the front desk staff can be both amazing and terrible. The less experienced staff are just bad. The experienced staff are amazing. Thr guys who handled my check in and out were excellent. The rest of the time was noy great. Room service was terrible and I would not recommend. Food was good, but wrong orders and long wait times for corrections. Was told delivery would be 15-20 mins and it took 45 mins. My spouse and I ate at different times. Housekeeping is not the best. Multiple days without water (I went and bought some) someone smeared blood on our sheets at turn down and touch and go restock of the room. Taxis have an issue finding the hotel due to the construction outside. Also, not disability friendly. You have to drag your luggage up and down multiple flights of stairs and through a narrow hallway due to renovations when checking in/out. The construction on the street starts at 7am, but was not super bothersome. Does cause some navigation issues to nearby businesses.Hotel is very cold due to stone walls. Bring warmer Pjs. The good: location is great and the hotel is beautiful. Dining, bars and shopping very close. Very walkable area. Great art scene nearby.

He went above and beyond to help my husband plan an anniversary surprise and daily assisted us in planning our stay with suggestions and help with reservations. We also enjoyed complimentary sparkling wine and treats in our room and a complimentary upgrade to a petite suite. Our stay was truly memorable! The concierge contacted me prior to my stay and asked a little bit about why I was visiting. They took what I said and incorporated it into it room when we checked in. They were also able to help with dinner reservations at a hard to get in restaurant. A great place to stay!

The staff. Jonathan Hug was the best. Upgraded us for our 40th. Gave us suggestions for tours, restaurants and anything we needed. Bell hop very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you Desk staff efficient and friendly. Housekeeping every day - twice a day. Fresh water everyday. Beautiful restaurants. All three. The staff at the Nelligan were fantastic - anytime we needed anything handled or a question to be answered, the staff replied quickly and ensured we received top-notch service. Our stay was very comfortable and we loved the proximity to shops and restaurants. I'd highly recommend!

Nice Property and very friendly staff. The Valets are awesome and friendly. Rooms are extremely clean and the beddings extremely confortable. We stayed for four nights. We told the valet that our departure time would be 4:30 am and he wrote it down in front of us.... Next morning at 4:15 am guy at the front desk was sleeping on the couch and car was still in parking lot locked. He gave us the keys and we walked down the alley (at 4 am) only to find the lot locked. walked back to hotel and couldn't find the service guy.... luckily the janitor cleaning the floor ran around and found him and brought the remote to open the gate. Left the hotel late but made our flight... Thanks to cleaning guy who could tell we were freaking out !!!! Not sure why the car wasn't just left in front of the hotel the night before. The street was empty.

We loved Hotel Nelligan and will be back! Working with the concierge to arrange transportation and concert tickets was so easy and felt like the very definition of hospitality. Would recommend highly. In comparison with other hotels it puts you in the heart of Old Montreal.

The hotel is in the middle of a construction zone and getting to the property requires walking an obstacle course. The hotel has no control with respect to road word conducted by the municipality. However, when booking there should a clear explanation of what the current circumstances are and to be forthright about conditions in and around the property. My experience left a sour taste in my mouth and I will not stay there again.

Paid a significant amount of money $750CAD for a night to be woken up at 08:00am from extensive roadworks right outside. Hotel is right on tge middle of yhe old town which is great. Facilities are decent. However you cannot take a taxi to the door and there is a significant amount of construction noise all day. A real shame.

The property itself is beautiful however there was a lot of construction external to the property starting as early as 0700. Inside there were renovations going on too which I was not aware of when I booked. Would be helpful if Expedia was aware of these situations to inform potential guests. Staff were ok but front desk very slow...

We had very much looked forward to our stay the Nelligan but unfortunately things did not go well. Negatives - breakfast at Mama C's was a disaster. On the 1st morning, we were seated and then ignored for 15 minutes - couldn't get anyone's attention to bring coffee or menus, etc. We left and went down the street to the Auberge du Vieux-Port for breakfast (it was excellent). The next morning we decided to try again (perhaps it was just a bad day) and this time we were seated and served but the food was just not good. Medium poached eggs were a runny mess served in a ramekin floating in butter and olive oil - there was simply no way to eat them with anything other than a spoon. The rest of the meal wasn't as bad but wasn't good. We also tried later to sit in the lounge for a drink and appetizer but again were seated and ignored for over 15 minutes. Went upstairs to the Terrasse and had a seat and a beer within a couple of minutes. Finally, toilet was not working in the room and the AC pretty much sounded like a helicopter taking off. This is 1st bad review that I've ever left so hopefully things will improve because we liked much about the hotel itself. Also want to point out some pluses - the front desk and concierge staff were very accommodating, the staff and food at Terrasse Nelligan were excellent and we also had a good meal and good service at Mama C on our 1st evening.

Excellent hotel! Very charming! The staff were exceptional and we really enjoyed the Rooftop Terrace! Melissa from Mama C restaurant was fantastic and the breakfast was amazing! Very convenient location and the valet service was excellent for parking! We will definitely return to this hotel!

The room had a bit of a weird scent that we noticed every time we came back to the room. It was almost musty. Maybe carpet cleaning related. Other than that the hotel and its amenities were pretty great. Lots of construction around the property, but nothing the hotel could do anything about. We had drink and dinner at the terrace de Nelligan and were underwhelmed with the food. The ambience was really great though.

Jonathan the Conceirge was incredibly helpful and so was Mia at the front desk. They both provided incredible help getting around the city and we only made our plane because Jonathan recommended we take a taxi vs. Uber. They also gave us terrific restaurant recos. Highly recommend this hotel which has recently been renovated.
