We chose this hotel and the added expense so we could visit the spa area. Very disappointed that the jacuzzi was not working and the spa area overall was sadly lacking. No robes or slippers provided in the room. The room was clean and large but don't think I would pay to stay here again

This place has had room upgrades by the looks of it but they’ve kept the original doors and wardrobes etc, kinda half done. Pool area is poorly maintained and dangerous to access. Bar ran out of lemonade at 3pm on a Sunday. Glad we booked early enough to save on the astronomical prices nearer the time. Don’t be fooled by the pool and sauna etc, save your money and stay somewhere else

Interior needs updating especially in pool area, pool facilities not working. Air Conditioning broke down was so hot unbearable. Room was good, staff were helpful in restaurant, but not in Rena Spa, Afternoon Tea was not worth the money as substitute (twinning) Tea's were used not superior Tea's on the Menu, we paid £71 for this. Room service delivery of £6 on top of £21 for a burger was well over the top. Would not recommend this Hotel

In general, a tired hotel needing some investment. Dirty pool area, jacuzzi not working and no robes or slippers to use the spa facilities. Limescale in bathroom, stained shower curtain and very old bath with faulty shower head. Good location if you must go to Southampton, bar area is nice and staff were all pleasant.

A nice hotel centrally located making it perfect for a stay in southampton. The king room felt spacious and the bed was comfy. The gym had plenty to help me burn off a little bit of the breakfast buffet, which was fresh, tasty and gad plenty of variety. The Pool was nice and warm. Would stay here again

Not the quality of a 4 star hotel. Room was not ready at check in, we arrived after 4:00 pm. Staff seemed a little flustered, but were still kind, said housekeeping was behind schedule. Upon arriving at the room there was still trash outside the door and some bottles from the previous guest just outside the door. The room seemed to have been serviced but the hand soap and body wash were both empty. Housekeeping came and refilled those promptly, but upon use we realized they were very watered down and runny. The sink didn’t drain well in our room and would fill up with water while using it and took some time to drain. The faucet in the bathroom was covered in hard water stains, as well as the shower head being caked with hard water and was low quality. There was a stain on the sheets as well. It looks like the property tried to do a remodel but it wasn’t done well and was pieced together where some areas weren’t updated and others were just covered up with the new. The property overall seems run down and not well maintained. The air conditioner unit didn’t seem to be fully functioning and never really cooled down the room. Luckily we had brought some small fans to move the air around. We only stayed one night, thank goodness, because we wouldn’t want to stay another night and won’t be staying here again.

So I arrived and the hotel room I was given was absolutely filthy. It clearly hadn't been touched as you could see by the photos, empty bottles everywhere, dirty towels, bed clearly slept in, so I went straight to reception and was given a different room. The bed was uncomfortable and the shower also did not work as the temperature gauge was not working and was either boiling hot or freezing cold. When I reported this to reception I got told verbatim "are you sure that isn't a YOU problem", and got asked if I knew how to work a shower when I said the temperature isn't working. I was made to feel as though my complaint wasn't being taken seriously and felt gaslit despite trying the shower multiple times. This hotel used to be wonderful but due to how bad the service was and how horrid the receptionist (male) was this morning upon checkout I don't know if I would ever stay again and quite honestly want a refund.

We have not stayed here for 9 years until end of August this year, evening meal was good, breakfast disappointing, self service, used to be table service, hot was only like warm and fried eggs had been sat in the dish a long time, the bathroom was dirty obviously been cleaned but not properly the soap containers over the bath needed a good clean, toilet seat was very discoloured, where the sink was fitted under the fitting of worktop was a total disgrace, in the corners of floor, on the door dust because it’s been done quick, and not in corners, would definitely not stay again. Bed very comfortable and pillows, coffee and tea not stocked only could get coffee no tea bags and long life milk although there was a fridge.

The room was big. Comfortable and quiet. Coffee, tea and fridge in the room was a nice touch. But for guests staying more than couple of nights, there needs to be more shelves and drawers to put clothes away and not keep them in suitcases.

My stay was only one night. When booking the picture portrayed the hotel having lots of boats etc and near water. There was none! The staff was very helpful and friendly. There was a wedding and tge vibrations from the music and pontoon the floor above us kept us from having a the quietness needed for a good sleep. Surroundings around the hotel were safe and we enjoyed a long walk snd a bite to eat at “ The Pig”😃 ( near by) of which was very good

The rooms were gorgeous, large and with everything you can imagine needing. The bed was huge and comfy. The major downside for me was the use of shutters in the room which let in sunlight as soon as the sun rose, meaning a lack of lie in on our trip. The other windows had blackout curtains why not on the middle two windows? Room 155.

This hotel is overrun by cruise guests and it’s proximately to the port is the only reason they are in business. The service is terrible. We waited an hour past check in to get our room and the AC was broken. We had the room set at 15c and it never dropped in temperature across 3 days. If it weren’t for the floor fan, we would have sweated all weekend. The desk is only available certain hours so we never were able to get help with the AC. One of the only elevators was out of service for our whole stay. I will never stay here again. The staff is nice but overwhelmed and understaffed.

The restaurant is in a large atrium / sunroom with a view of the historic town walls. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had pork loin with baked apples and spinach. Alcoholic beverages are not reasonably priced. The concierge was super helpful. He gave us a map and pointed out sites of interest. He also helped us resolve an issue with a lost item from our cruise.

While I want to start by saying that some of the staff at this hotel were excellent, there were a few that were regrettably apathetic and unprofessional. We were given a room that literally smelled like a backed up toilet. When we approached the front desk to ask for a new room, we were dismissed. Additionally, we were told by maintenance staff and other staff that there was no smell. This was absolutely not true. After being ignored and told that there was nothing that could be done because the hotel was sold out, our room was finally changed. This only happened because we checked in early and said that we seriously doubted everyone had checked in yet. Curiously, the second room did not smell. On a positive note, the gentleman in the restaurant was an absolute pleasure, as were the men who helped secure our transportation to the cruise line port.

Check in was fast and easy. Room keys would not work and had to get them re-programmed (believe others had the same issue). The room is spacious with great hot water & water pressure. We got drinks & food in Leo’s. Service was exceptionally slow. After waiting at a table for about 15 minutes had to ask at the bar for table service. It was still slow our entire visit. Check out by email was easy & convenient.

The hotel is perfectly located with regard to access to the port. The very historical area is where the mayflower sailed from. My own criticism of the hotel is this age and it could use a little freshen up. Breakfast was outstanding. However, it’s the same every day. They could use some change up on breakfast from time to time. The short answer is, we would love to stay there again given the opportunity.

The hotels reception staff and the room itself was amazing, albeit when using the glass lift, areas of the hotel seriously need cleaning. As it was a special occasion (hubby's milestone birthday), we'd book to dine in the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill which we were exceptionally disappointed in and certainly WOULDN'T recommend dining in there. Not only had they run out of fillet steak (first quarter of the menu), then we heard they'd run out of sirloin steak when another couple came to order - this is meant to be a steakhouse. The sirloin I was served had been overcooked and was chewy and we would have had a better meal from the other hotels less expensive Bistro or the nearby pub. The waiting staff could also learn how to lay a table and I had to go to three tables to find a full salt cellar ! I don't know how they hold onto this franchise as I certainly wouldn't book to dine at another one? We ate out the second night.

The food in Leo's Bar was overpriced - expected much better quality at these prices. And they didn't have Sauvignon Blanc. Liked sockets by the beds, good aircon in room, nice fragrance in reception (but nowhere else). Decor looks tired. Bathroom toilet looks cheap and old, with dirty hinge, skewed lid, and loose flush handle. Didn't like bath with shower curtain either.
