The car park is free for guests and they took our car registration on check in - we assumed we would not be getting a fine. One month after the stay we received a parking fine of 100 pounds and an admin fine for same from car rental company of 40 pounds. The car park is in the middle of nowhere with a long road in off a main road, I can't imagine anyone using it who isn't staying there. I now have to waste my time on chasing this up. The hotel otherwise was ok, other than that the location is in the middle of nowhere and the beds were very (very) hard. Our room had an adjoining door to another room that was closed but you could hear other guests and their tv quite clearly.

This place was good and served our purposes well. It was clean and seemed well run. The breakfast, a buffet, was very good. Plenty to eat. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Our main complaint was that the elevator was broken meaning we had to carry two large suitcases and two carry-ons up and down the stairs.

Nice hotel, very clean, good location, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, free parking, reasonable price. On the negative side, they have a parking lot monitoring service which takes photos of "unauthorized" vehicles parking in their lot. The hotel front desk doesn't tell you about this when you check in or issue a parking pass to put in your windshield, and doesn't offer to validate your parking. The first you hear about it is when you receive a photo of your car with a nasty little citation in your email. The parking lot monitoring service claims there are signs in the parking lot telling you to scan a QR code to visit a website to validate your parking. The reality is, I didn't see any signs and this is the second time I've encountered this at a Holiday Inn Express in the UK. Next time I'll know to ask.

Arrived slightly earlier than check in and was told the room was not ready but to help ourselves to tea and coffee. Greeted by Mateus....very very very helpful and friendly, credit goes to Mateus. There is no air con at the hotel and the lift was broken at the time, we were lucky only staying on the first floor. That is the only negative to this review. Staff was all round amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Always working hard and it was busy! Credit to all your staff that was working during the weekend of the 21st-24th August. If I needed anything, all I had to do was ask the staff and they would try their utmost to help. I left my charger at home and the staff tried to help resolving the issue by finding me spare cables/plugs. To no avail, I ordered an charger to the hotel which they signed for and kept safe. The breakfast was good and very busy during the morning. You could see the staff working very hard from clearing the tables to taking the guest to the tables. Respect you all. I just wish I got all your names to thank and mention you personally. Props to the kitchen staff who was working tirelessly and it seemed relentless over the days during my stay. Perfect for Paultons park. That was the main reason for the stay. From Room 232 - Hope you enjoyed the pizza (kitchen staff) and Mateus you had a good break! Will stay here again just for the staff!

Upon returning home after a week’s holiday we find a car parking fine from the hotel car park site, at no point did we see any notice re parking and was not advised at check in re this. We feel it’s very poor not not be advised by staff upon checking in. The weather was horrendous storm babet and was very weary after a long journey, we certainly didn’t see any notice. Our one night stay has proven stressful. You should advise all guests in future as unless you’ve stayed there before you aren’t to know.

Check in staff very helpful. Lift was out of order, but they reassigned me a room on a lower floor and carried my bags for me. Breakfast staff were amazingly efficient, I have not been in a HIE that has been this busy, but nothing was too much trouble and the restaurant girls were very quick.

The worst hotel breakfast ever. They didnt even have enough furniture so people were sitting on (dirty) office chairs to eat. No coffee other than instant. And as a lone female traveller i felt very uneasy as its almost all men staying here

Checked in after 10pm, when we got to the room and inserted the card to activate the lights only a couple of the lights actually worked. Pressed the switches and there were no resistance or clicking, found pull out bed not fully pulled out or made properly. In the morning with natural daylight we found the pull out bed was full of dust and fluff. We went down for breakfast there were no staff on reception, we saw three staff running around clearing tables and failing to keep the breakfast items stocked up. After breakfast we checked out there was no drop box for keys so had the wait at reception for one of the staff running around the breakfast area to come and check us out. It looked like nobody was in charge and if someone would have took charge it wouldn’t have been chaos. There was a real lack of leadership and that is probably why the conditions of the room were lacking as nobody is holding anyone accountable.

The sofa bed was awful the mattress was paper thin and the springs dug in all night. Didnt get any sleep. Weve stayed here before but the beds ruined it for us this time and i cant see us coming back. It was so loud in the corridor with people shouting to each other at 1am, obviously not the hotels fault but just added to our feelings. Buffet breakfast good Staff have always been lovely and no different this time The bed and sleep is the main booking reason for us and it was so bad.

If you like air conditioning, they leave you a very friendly note. Plug in the fan put a bucket of ice in front of it and open the window. That is what they call air conditioning. The building is old the rooms have a musty smell to them, the shower sucks. I will say the staff is very friendly and very helpful. Their food in the restaurant is wonderful no complaints. The time we’ve been there the elevator was broken and we had to carry our luggage up to the second floor. It was about 10 minutes from the cruise ship terminal, which was a good factor. There’s a very nice pub about a five minute walk away that serves fantastic food as well.

Nice hotel on a new site just built in the wrong place. Why put it right next to the motorway where you hear all the lorries coming off at 4 o’clock in the morning instead of putting it over by the pub which would’ve been better

The property was very clean as was the room. The staff was outstanding in every way. However the rooms have no air conditioning and no phone in the room. It was extremely hot in our room. We were provided with an electric fan. This is unacceptable for the 21 st century especially for a holiday inn IHG brand. There is no phone in the room if you need something front desh you have to go down stairs. Again unacceptable for as 21 century hotel and IHG brand. Mainly for these reasons only we will not stay at this hotel or maybe at an IHG hotel again while traveling especially out of Southampton

Where to start. First we arrived a bit early and the front desk person was incredibly rude. We knew we were early as it was around 12 noon and merely wanted to inquire as to if our room was available then we would like to check in. He lets us know everyone is always trying to check in at 7 am which is not applicable but found this to be rude. When we finally got our room key the door is locked and the room was already occupied so back downstairs and more delays. Now I want to add the description of the property is not true. There is no air conditioning in the rooms on all floors above the bottom and you will not know it’s a holiday inn if you look at the pillows, towels, mattress nothing. The shower was very nice but the toilet would not flush and we used the one by the front desk. Not a lot of options around the property for anywhere to eat. The manager told us that they are just very busy and have lots of guests. My wife asked her if they were understaffed and was told no so that means it’s a management issue. Anyways this is not a typical holiday inn more like a cheap hotel. The housekeepers are very friendly but management is in over their heads as they are running around constantly getting little done. The manager took over our check in and told us the room would be ready in 20 minutes and we’ll over an hour later they give us keys to a room that already had people in it. This place is very unprofessional and not a typical holiday inn.

I’m not sure how I missed the property didn’t have AC. The rooms did have 2 fans, it was a 2 night stay, we survived. The elevators were not working and we had to lug 2-60pd pieces of luggage up 3 flights of stairs. The hotel provided a breakfast Buffett and it was good. The staff was excellent. The hotel is located in an industrial park and is 10-15 minutes from the cruise ports.

Lovely staff who make you feel welcome. The hotel is on the edge of a building site at the moment but overnight it is relatively quiet. Thai is our second visit to this hotel in a month. If you are looking for a short stay with good facilities, nice staff and a good breakfast then this is for you.

This was not a great stay. 1/the lift was out of order and i was on the top floor ...not good. 2/ The evening meal was really bad, a £15.95 cheesburger turned up microwaved !!!! like leather. Fries stuck together in a seperate pot. Never experienced such awful food. 3/Breakfast was avearge undercooked and overcooked bacon and dried up sausages at 7.20am . 4/Orange juice was synthetic like the sort you used to get in the seventies i remember as a kid. 5/There was used tissue in the stairwell that was still there in the morning. 6/No one checked what room i was in at breakfast anyone could have entered and had a free breakfast.

It was a nice stay- however the breakfast situation was crazy - resulting in my husband not having everything in the breakfast as it wasn’t available and it was far too busy to wait for them to restock as they were under so much pressure with everything else.. the breakfast is what lets it down..

Check in was quick and easy, room clean, shower was lovely. Asked for extra towels and received them quickly. Breakfast was lovely and unrushed. Plenty of parking. The pub around the corner did a lovely evening meal and only a short walk away.

What i’d expect from a HIE. Stayed in better HIEx with business but i was in this one with family. Wouldnt of been so bad if i was solo. Poor breakfast, too busy with staff not able to keep things available. 1st morning no milk, cutlery, eggs or butter. Second no pastries or milk with half hot option missing and arriving in drips and drabs. No hot option other than black coffee with coffee machine broke both mornings. Bed squeaky and sounded broken, shower head wouldnt hold as bracket was broken so had to hold it by hand. Convenient for out trip but wouldnt really want to stay again

The hotel itself was fine. Comfortable bed. Staff were very attentive and polite. Main issue was the breakfast. Coffee was awful. As was the OJ. Both tasted watered down. Not much chopped fresh fruit. Nothing at all one day. No vegetable option on cooked breakfast. Usually you get mushrooms or tomato. Baked beans had no flavour. If they can sort the breakfast then this would be a great stay.
