New Place

Staff were friendly from the reception area. Unfortunately our room was not cleaned properly after the first night. Bed just about done and just the milks replaced! Bath towels not changed and just put back on the towel rack and the pool towels left soaking wet on our bed (despite being folded neatly on the desk ready to be replaced) There was also a blood spot on the pillow which we had to ask twice to be replaced - Despite this, the head of house keeping was prompt in changing our towels and stripping our bed completely with fresh sheets which was much appreciated! Lovely woman. Breakfast was ok. We found it to be overcooked meats and over fried eggs dripping in oil. Mushrooms were rubbery too. Continental section was pleasant however. Leisure facilities were a nice addition to the hotel. Although the changing areas were very very dirty. Dirty floors that were not cleaned and dirty changing rooms. Sauna was nice but the wooden planks were almost collapsing which was a health hazard. Room upon arrival was clean. However, there was no internet connection. No 5G or WiFi worked on our phones or laptops unfortunately. There was also huge mould patches on the walls next to the door and window. There was a smell of damp too. Not great for Asthma sufferers. Overall, the hotel was ok for a cheap getaway but a shame the cleanliness and mould problems let it down.

This was a really lovely place to stay. Indoors there is a pool, sauna, jacuzzi and fitness room. Outside is a tennis court, croquet, cricket pitch and huge grounds to walk around. This was a really good price too. Breakfast is great. They have fresh fruits,cereal, yoghurt, pancake machine, continental breakfast or english.

Stayed enroute to Southampton Cruise Terminal. Nice quiet location. Easy check in easy parking. Lovely breakfast! Room recently refurbished. Corridor in accom blocks need refurbishing now. Enjoyed swimming pool and jacuzzi and sauna. Grounds and gardens beautifully looked after.

Great food in the bar, nice pool/jacuzzi/sauna. Some decor a little ‘tired’ but excellent value for money.

Disappointing from the start, when you book a hotel because it advertised it has EV chargers they need to work, had to drive to a local supermarket to charge up. Don’t be fooled by the main picture, it’s a typical corporate apartments by the side of the manor. The entrance door didn’t close properly so rattled all night meant the noisy road can be heard from inside the room. The deliveries started at 7am so don’t expect a lot of sleep either. Breakfast was acceptable and the bed was comfortable if you like a very soft mattress

Stayed for family business nearby. Unexpectedly good value and well located. Parking was easy, comments on expedia and other suggest on busy days like weddings that this may be less so, although seems to be overflow parking available.

Parking was an issue as there were a lot of guests for a wedding, but we found a spot eventually. Rooms are good, only issue is when other people stand outside adjoining rooms talking and smoking which is not normally an issue with conventional hotels. God breakfast, good spa, good value.

Pool very worn out needs a refurbishment

The hotel was quiet and clean and set in beautiful surroundings. The rooms are predominantly in outside blocks, which means no clattering of room doors or late night/early morning voices in the corridor disturbing your sleep. There were a few cobwebs and the odd eight legged resident in our room, but orherwise it was clean and comfortable. The swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi were good. The changing rooms are fairly small and the lockers need a £1 coin to operate. Breakfast is a buffet-style affair but was of good quality and tasty.

The room was clean and comfortable with a good sized bed and bathroom. The pool, hot tub and sauna were quite small and some guests thought it appropriate to wear outdoor shoes in wet areas resulting in dirty floors. We had dinner in the main restaurant and had to wait over 90 minutes for our food - we’re glad we didn’t have a 3-course meal as I’m not sure there are enough hours in the day! The food was nice but the portion very small for the price and we were left very, very hungry. Other tables seemed to have food arrive sporadically! The table linen left white fluff all over clothes which other guests had also complained about. Breakfast was pleasant but very disorganised; tea had to be ordered when it could have easily been available to be self service by the coffee machines. Too few staff to cope with the demand and not enough organisation. Overall, it was fine but the experience was let down by the restaurant and lack of staff. Expectations were just not met for such a lovely property.

Twin beds were comfortable Windows were rotting & mouldy, handles virtually broken. Shower strength very average. Some areas of room were dirty. Very noisy with lorries leaving from 03:45am, & delivery lorries arriving from 06:45am. Bar area lacking atmosphere, room impressive but spoilt by unimpressive furntiure. LADIES toilets for bar customers up on SECOND floor with no lifts available. Out of 4 toilets, two were out of action & one of the others didn't work!!!

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Plenty of hanging space although no drawers. There was a good selection of tea and coffee available in the room although the uht milk curdled my tea. Nice that Dove toiletries were provided in the bathroom. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. The historic building where the restaurant was housed is gorgeous. Huge fireplaces, high ceilings and panelled walls. I googled the history of New Place whilst eating breakfast. It would be nice if that information was available for visitors. I would definitely stay again

My room was very clean and comfortable. It was also quiet.

The hotel is lovely and the staff were very helpful. Roberta our waitress was just brilliant, good fun and just lovely. The food was delicious and the facilities were good. Unfortunately though, the towels were absolutely disgusting! Clearly they had been used before us as I noticed what looked like several poo stains all over 1 towel and smaller brown marks on the other 2 towels. More horrifying was that I hadn’t noticed until I had started to dry myself after a shower. My husband did show the receptionist photos and was told sorry, we will let housekeeping know!

The unit had dirty windows, skirting, wardrobe, drinks tray and table. The windows are hard to shut (timber) and the window catches are cheap and plastic coated. I do not like to a toilet that has been "repaired" with glue. The shower has the shampoo etc. bottles positioned in such a way to as they impinge you having a shower properly. This is a facility that is maintained on the cheap, more concerned in not spending money on its infrastructure, but saving it for a profit return. I will not be staying at any of its facilities again. All image and no substance

Hi well where do I start the house is beautiful and staff and food amazing but staying here was disgusting mould in bathroom and spiders running on webs and room absolutely freezing think they need to refurb

The hotel itself is beautiful however the room was not. The mattress was so thin, you felt the bed slats through it. There were hairs in the bed, looks like the room hadn't been cleaned for some time. Quite disappointing for the price paid.

Walls very thin and could hear the couple next door conversing until midnight. Did ask for a quiet room at reception but was advised the best way to achieve this would be to upgrade at a cost

Luxurious manor house at the entrance but the accommodation is almost military style blocks away from the main building. Parking was a lottery but available. Take a torch as there is insufficient external lighting. Rooms were okay but could hear the occupant in the next room so not great.

Very nice property however the rooms are in a courtyard and not main house, WiFi and phone signal not available in block 2 in the room which was very disappointing

Room was very cold. Bathroom radiator did not work so bathroom freezing when -1 outside. probably wouldn't stay again especially during winter months

Not too bad a place to stay but rooms are separate outside of the main building tired and need sound proofing! Noise from upstairs and next door also door did not shut tight and noise of delivery trucks at 6.30 am and cars leaving was annoying. Food expensive too but nice.

Was humid but no air conditioning or temp controls in room wasn’t ideal. Checkin was quick as was checkout. Grounds are lovely and the main building is very picturesque inside and out. Staff are ok, quick passive and lack the skills that most nice hotels demand. Breakfast was ok, everything ready cooked and kept warm so best to come early.

The bed was very worn with no defined edge so when you turn over at night you fall out of it. we were on the ground floor we were not happy opening the window at night as anyone could climb into the room, so it was very hot and airless.

Rooms were very small but adequate. The bed is a small double and mattress lumpy so really felt like we were gonna fall out the bed. I wouldn’t stay in that type of room again for that reason. Also I booked 2 rooms in same booking with Expedia but the hotel put us in different blocks. They were able to move us together after some discussion and showing evidence of one booking for 2 rooms. So in this scenario they require that you email ahead to the hotel and link your booking!

Room was way too warm. Heater in bathroom permanently on, fan cuts out and window only opens a tiny bit

Lovely property. Rooms need a bit of a work as starting to look older in a few places. Very clean and quiet which was great. Food was lovely in the restaurant but quite pricey from certain dishes. I would say worth the price but wouldn’t do it 2 nights in a row.

The hotel building was lovely inside and out. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. It’s a shame that you have to go outside to get to the bar and restaurant. The layout of the dining facilities and breakfast buffet in particular is very disjointed and quite chaotic. The hotel had a lot of events going on a but not enough staff to cope with it. The staff individually are very capable and friendly but overall suffer from a lack of organisation. Rooms were very comfortable and clean with everything you need for your stay.

Great stay, comfy, super dog friendly, staff very attentive and lovely,,,, only issue, busy bank hol weekend and they struggled with food, breakfast crowded and slow food with queues,,, plates and cups long wait, coffee machine really slow and broken,,, dinner; 40 min wait for starter then 1.5 hour wait for main, waiter got us 2 free drinks each for tlthe delay and was v apologetic... upside food was good - bar fab, facilities and grounds super,,, we would definitely return! Dog loved it too!

Service in the bar was awful. The young team team need much more training and guidance. I found a 5p piece in the bed so obviously not fresh bedding . I’m possible to park on arrival.

Rooms a little dated but the super friendly staff, warm welcome and facilities on offer so within a reasonable price more than make up for it. Can't wait to go back.

Service was generally very slow. It felt understaffed and disorganised. Prosecco to the room was forgotten, dinner service was very slow, breakfast was disorganised. I paid extra for breakfast but could have just walked in without being checked. The staff struggled to cope with replenishing the food. They didn’t have much chance!

Everything was very good, maybe the bar area was slightly lacking at times in service but overall we had an excellent stay and will be back

The room was tiny - place needs decorating / coffee was not always available / no snacks. Room was not cleaned the 2nd night. Restaurant and bar had more or less the same menu. Reception was not that friendly considering we have been there 4 times already - not looked after

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, I was here one night for work, then my partner and 2y/o son joined me for a night. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, grounds were lovely and facilities exceeded expectations. Overall great value, highly recommend.

Very poor first impression very unhelpful and not very welcoming and unfriendly girl at check in.now telephone in the room, told some rooms do not have them,I asked why and tole she did not known, so I did not receive my wake up call ,girl on check out very nice and wondered why I did not answer,as I had no telephone it was not possible .Breakfast very poor.

It is a great place for anyone wanting to retreat for a little while. Very quiet and scenic. It is quite remote - no public transport and challenging to book cabs.

The setting and surrounding area is very nice with easy access to the local towns and cities.

Great and cordial staff. It is exactly located in one of those areas that suits me so well: quaint, gorgeous, but central.

We’ve stayed at New Place over the years. So, we new what we were getting. Rooms an great, queen size beds. Tea and coffee making facilities in each room. Bathrooms are clean, toilets are perfect, shower is over the bath so if you want a shower Olay due tha accessible issue tell them when you book as I’m sure they can suit your needs. The old house is amazing, breakfast is held there, you can roam the grounds and the house. I would definitely recommend this venue. It’s not hard to find 😎

Clean, quiet and comfortable. Loved the Manor House/main building, which has an interesting and quirky history, dating back to the 1600s. Rooms are basic, a bit dated and located separately from the main building - now a conference centre - and are a complete contrast to the lovely 17th century features of the manor. Room was also quite hot as there is no air conditioning. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Check in was very quick. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine overlooking the grounds. It was perfect for a one night stay to avoid the hassle and expense of parking in nearby Winchester, where we were heading the next day. Would stay again.

The bar food was absolutely shocking. Over £20 for Thai red curry with 3/4 of a plate of rice, minimal chicken in a very poor sauce. No mango chutney or Naan bread. Completely unacceptable for £20. I’d rather of had a microwave meal curry from a supermarket

Comfortable room although when I stayed it was very warm even with windows open and would have liked air conditioning No bottled water in the room or mini fridge to keep soft drinks and water cold Good bar facilities with a tasty menu with lovely terrace outside Excellent breakfast with both continental and cooked options

Really nice outdoor area, a grand entrance and free electric car charging were a really nice surprise. However, room was on the small side, only one bath towel and hand towel provided although 2 of us confirmed on the booking. Breakfast was the biggest let down: quality of the coffee was really poor (from a machine) and the coffee pot that brought to the table was simply undrinkable. Hot breakfast consisted of dried up bacon and fried eggs, staff hardly making eye contact and unenthusiastic. Not worth £14 per person. Shame as this place has great potential.

Business trip Room was in need of a make over just looked tried, bed was clean and comfortable, food was great but a bit over priced

Property was amazing however rooms could use better cleaning. Grounds are beautiful. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Dining was excellent (we did the breakfast and had dinner in the pub).

Nice place to spend a sunny evening, room and location was good, and the evening dinner was very good, however the breakfast was OK but the food was not kept very warm
