No elevator and we both are old and use canes Had I known, I would not have booked this hotel Or was after midnight when we arrived at the motel, they had no rooms on the first no roofs inside the main building. We had to walk outside past several buildings and up a metal staircase outside to get to our room with heavy luggage. However, they did have a set of service at the Derby drive. The van was very nice and helped us get our luggage out of the van in the hotel and the young lady at the desk is very pleasant. There was nothing she can do about Kelly that’s a room inside, but this was not the type of hotel you said anywhere old or in frigid weather to

Located close to the airport. Several local restaurants within walking distance. Shuttle service from hotel to airport was great. The drivers were very friendly and professional. The staff at the hotel was great.

Had to switch room. Our assigned room not clean with hair in sheets that were foldedd open. Disgusting. Could not stay there, checked out next day. Yuck. People were understanding and helpful but not an offset.

Affordable; however, floor was dirty, no pillow cases om the pillows (had to get them feom the front desk), had to clean the sink myself. The bed looked as if the sheets had been used due to food crumbs and black haors on the bed. Ended up sleeping in my own sleeping bag on the floor.

I like nice hotels but I'm actually not very difficult to satisfy. My hardline requirements are a hot shower and clean bed sheets. When a property fails at these two things, the rest is usually not good. We were in the older (original) wing of the hotel. The shower at 3:15 am took nearly 10 minutes for the water to get hot, and we are still not sure the sheets had been washed. Lots of hairs and some suspicious stains. Perhaps the stains were permanent and the dryer filter wasn't effectively removing lint and hairs but, never the less, not very comforting. Our experience with Anchorage hotels wasn't great. I would consider staying with mainstream national brands in hope of getting better quality control if I visit again.

Over one hour to check in. The room smelled like dirty laundry. The bathroom was disgusting. The shower curtain was so long it covered half the bottom of the tub so when you were showering you are standing on a soapy slippery curtain. Never stay in that dump

This place is gross. Do not add stay here. The pillow covers had some green mold on it and the pillows themselves had some black gunk. The door to the bathroom could not be closed because the door latch and the knob were not aligned. We had to shorten our stay and get another hotel

The walls were paper thin; you could hear the constant traffic, the person coughing in a nearby room. The floors squeaked terribly. The bathroom fan was horribly loud. The bed was worn out, big dip in the side closest to the door. But the noise was definitely the worst thing to have to deal with.

Decent hotel but wont stay again. We checked in super early in the morning & they marked us as a "no show" even though i had called many times to ensure this wouldnt be an issue. The lady was quite rude about it but finally gave us a room. The thermostat in our room didnt work at all & was unbearably hot. When we asked about it, they already knew and the solution was to give us a fan. That evening i went to the desk to see if we could get a different room due to the heat and they wanted to charge us over $100 to move. Thankfully, a lady said she would clean the room if I helped and then we wouldn't be charged the $100. The cereal was really good for breakfast on a plus though. The area seems sketch. Thankful for Emily.

The beds were very comfortable. There's nothing special about the rooms but they were clean but smelled of smoke. The ac needs to be used to keep the room from feeling muggy and to drown out any noise. It only cools to 74 so the room was hot for sleeping. Forget about the breakfast.

The facility and grounds appeared to be well maintained and the location offers quick access to the airport plus a nearby lakefront park for a short morning walk. During 2 separate stays, there was a pattern of common issues in each room: i.e. noisy bathroom fans, warped, bathroom doors that would not close properly, significant ice accumulation in the refrigerator, sunken mattresses. Again, this was 2 rooms and may not reflect the entire hotel. This is subjective, so for us, we place significant emphasis on customer service. This is where the Puffin Inn really lost points in our opinion. First impressions can really set the tone for a hotel stay started off bad and continued from there.. In fairness, we interfaced with 7 different staff members across two separate stays so there could be other staff members who provide excellent customer service. However, the staff that we encountered did not result in a positive experience. Four travelers in our group unanimously voted the Puffin in last place for service and friendliness. If the management team is interested, I would be happy to provide supporting details.

I will NOT stay here ever again. Check in was 3pm. We arrived at 4:15pm BUT did not get in the room until 8:00pm. Said staff did not come in to clean rooms. No updates. No offer for anything. I should not have to pay for 5 hours. Management left at 5:00pm. So so disappointed.

Booked two rooms and front desk could only find one. After twenty minutes, finally got a 2nd room. Arrived on a hot day and AC didn’t work. Then they offered a fan. After another 20 minutes I got a different room, with no power to the AC. They then offered another room for an additional $100. Finally got changed to a 3rd room with working AC. No soap or shampoo in the room and no hair dryer. AC that did work was noisy, room was cramped, and generally worn. Staff seemed mostly incompetent and couldn’t understand my basic questions and were not very helpful. Appears they have one building with updated rooms that are more expensive, but two connecting buildings with very poor rooms. Definitely recommend staying elsewhere.

This property is courtyard style. i arrived at my room to find homeless people sleeping in front of my door. the reception did not want to give me another room. said they were harmless. i am female and was traveling alone. I was eventually given a room on the second floor. the room was incredibly warm even with the one window open and the air conditioning was so noisy i could not sleep. The location is close to the airport but has a walk score of zero.

This was fine for an airport hotel. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and they offer pretty much the same amenities as any other major hotel chain, and at least for me, the price they charged was WAY less than all the other hotels in the area. Hotels in Anchorage are expensive, especially during the summer/early fall, and I paid less than half for my two night stay than any other hotel in the area wanted. There were some rough edges, like the exhaust fan in the bathroom was a bit loose and needed dusted, but does something like that small detail make it worth paying so much more.. 3x the price across the street at the Wyndham or Courtyard? No, I don't think so. This was fine, and honestly I'd probably stay there longer if I needed to. For reference, I just stayed at the LAX Hilton and this room here at the Puffin Inn was cleaner than a flagship Hilton property. I'd book this property again.

Hotel is in process of being remodeled. From outside looks okay…….landscaping actually very nice. Room we stayed in was small, outdated. Comforter was stained. Area of town rough, unsafe and many homeless within a half mile of property.

Staff was friendly. Room was ok, dated, but clean. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. Free breakfast was a plus, but like most continental breakfast, options are limited. Very close to airport, but surrounding area is not the best. Lots of homeless in close proximity to property.

I love the fact that this hotel was about five minutes from the airport. I love the fact that we had food options in walking distance. The hotel started serving breakfast at 5 AM or 5:30 AM which was wonderful because we were up and ready to eat, and the staff was very, very friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
