Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center

We had a great experience with friendly check-in, great food downstairs and a good time in the pool, jacuzzi and gym.

Was not able to check in to property at 5:00pm due to system being down. Later that evening 5 vehicles were broken into.

Great location adjacent to Dignity Arena. Ample complementary parking. Upscale property, clean rooms. Starbucks in lobby. Highly recommend staying here when you’re in Bakersfield.

Came in late. Check in was smooth with the friendly front desk staff. Room (and the property in general) was very clean and quiet. Great breakfast options. They have a nice pool area as well. 10/10. Will stay again.

There was a large event held there or close by, and it took more than 1/2 hour for hotel guests to be abbe to park in hotel parking. There was no parking control.

Loved the pool, nice size gym with a good selection of cardio equipment & weights. Nice coffee bar area & cocktail bar area. Spacious room, beds comfortable. The draw backs are bathroom could be more spacious & updated & with better lighting. Women need to bring their own lighted makeup mirror if you use one, highly recommended because of the lighting. If you want room freshened up each day, need to call front desk each day or your request will be forgotten. Lastly, check your bill upon check out. Another rooms coffee bar charge was accidentally charged to our room.

I liked that there was security in lobby to ensure safety. I also liked that the room key has to be scanned inside elevator in order to get access to my floor.

Every staff member we encountered from the security guard, to check in people, to the bartender, waitress, & maid were all very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. We ate dinner and had drinks at the bar and breakfast in the restaurant the next morning. Everything was delicious. The only negative of the hotel itself is they were getting tile replaced in front of the elevators and so for a nine story hotel they only had one elevator operating. The only other negative was the neighborhood that did not seem like a safe neighborhood, but it made me feel more comfortable when I saw that they had armed security guards. The noise of the traffic came into our room as well. Overall, our stay was so good that my husband left a handwritten note for the manager who was coming in after we left.

Clean room

Staff not very hospitable, pool was dirty, lots of don't do this don't do that. No outside food or drinks, but hotel faire was high priced and very mediocre. Will not recommend!

The staff was so nice! It was very clean. The bathroom was a little small, Liked the bigger fixed bottles in shower instead of little plastic individual ones and recycle trash can.

Hotel and room ok. Bed a bit too firm for me but that’s personal preference of course. Good food in the restaurant and staff very friendly. Asked for a quiet room but put right next to ice machine. Also the air con and the fridge were pretty loud so we had to switch them off overnight. There was a slight smell of damp and the hotel and room just felt a little dated. Also the external doors being locked at night suggested the area may not be the safest, but to be fair we didn’t experience any problems.

I was please with the cleanliness of the hotel.

We stay there about 2 times a year and have seen a decline in the room quality. The beds seem to be old so it makes noise moving on the bed. The caulking in the bathroom is pealing and the counter tops cracked and open not sealed. But over all the stays are nice with the staff and what we need.

This hotel is nice, especially if you enjoy listening to the neighboing rooms. But other then that great hotel.

This is a really nice hotel. The staff members were super friendly and accommodating. The lobby and bar area were really nicely decorated. The restaurant had a huge selection of foods, as well as a kids menu with puzzles and an area to color, however they didn’t have any crayons which was a bummer for the kids. The room was spacious, bed comfortable and cozy pillows, however the train kept waking everyone up so no one, in any of the room, got great sleep. The bathroom was basic. The water drained slow in the tub and sink. No soap dish so placed clap on the counter. It was a scavenger hunt to find the blow dryer (top shelf of the closet). Overall, a nice place for a quick one night stay.

It was very loud. There’s a train track behind the hotel and there were sirens all night. The location was not ideal for a rested sleep.

Very comfortable beds and well planned layout with actual useful furniture. One of the best Marriotts I’ve stayed at. Very clean and secure. Restaurant downstairs was nice. Need to work on the tech integration, some things on their app and website haven’t been updated since the early days of COVID.

Bed was lumpy and noisy when you turned in bed. Heard the train a lot. Bathroom was dark with only one light over the sink.

The hotel is beautiful in the lobby level. Room level is another story. Our room was very beat up - wood paneling broken and separated from the desk, layout was disjointed and awkward, the bed was spongy and squeaky, not comfortable (would’ve preferred a firmer foam mattress). It feels like a lot of money went into the lobby and never made its way upstairs. We’ve had much more comfortable stays at much less expensive hotels.

WiFi so weak as to be non functiong. Tried Afternoon, night & morning. Very frustration. All else very nice.

A decent hotel but a bit dated. Not the same level as other Bonvoy hotels & you pay a premium. Make sure to get a room facing the city - the train tracks are just behind the hotel & trains move all night. Check out Sancho tacos for dinner & cafe Smitten for an amazing breakfast.

The room, the restaurant, pool, all excellent. Clean, modern facility. Checkin was smooth. The only issue was the WiFi login. After long hours on the road, once I am in my room, I want immediate access to the internet on my laptop to catch up on things. Unfortunately, the Marriott WiFi login page was designed to upsell me on some frequent traveler program. I could not see a big button that said. Access internet now. So I gave up on using their wifi and used my cellphones tethering. This should not happen in 2023 in a hotel that caters to business travelers.

Loved how close it was to the Cheer Competition, however, there weren’t too many restaurants within walking distance. Also, there are train tracks behind the property, so we were woken up by train horns a few times during the night.

This is a nice hotel with good security, but I had problems with extra charges that were already pre- paid, and missing items from my breakfast orders. The front desk did correct the charges.

We arrived at the hotel early and wanted to see if we could get an early check in as we had a wedding to attend at 3pm (granted we understand that it’s not always possible. The front desk receptionist that we first spoke with was rude and unprofessional. She told us that there was nothing she could do and to come back at 3:30pm-4pm to check to see if our room was available because she wasn’t going to call to let us know that our room was available. Again, not once looking up from her screen to acknowledge that there was nothing she could do. Therefore, we sat in the lobby with our family who were accommodated for early check in, during that time other family members arrived and they were granted early check in (4 couples). When I returned to the front desk and spoke with another young lady who greeted us with respect. I asked her why we weren’t accommodated for early check in and she explained that we had a room with a king size bed and those are limited. She was able to successfully accommodate a queen size room for us in a matter of minutes, for that we were thankful as we had been on the road for 3hrs. Despite us getting a room 45mins after our initial arrival we weren’t able to attend the church portion of our close family members wedding. I cannot emphasize how disappointed we were with the first lady that we spoke to while checking in.

To start off my room wasn’t ready at check in I had to wait , then when I did check in I was notified that they didn’t have hot water I was asked to cancel but I was just over it I was late to my event and I just needed to change and go this by far is the worst experience with a hotel ever I wish the 3 other ladies that I spoke earlier would have told me that 3 hours prior to check in and I would have had time to book somewhere else

Love this Marriott have stayed here many times. Front desk staff is stellar, rooms are always very clean and location is fabulous. Only complaint is the female bartenders are always extremely rude and act as if we are inconveniencing them by ordering drinks. It happens every time and it’s always new bartenders so maybe turnover is high.

I liked their customer service. Made it very convenient at time of check in. I was arrived into town earlier than expected and your staff was verry accommodating. Will stay again for sure.

Service at the hotel is exceptional. We had trouble with internet access and the team there was super helpful in getting us set up. The staff in the restaurant there were fabulous as well. By far, the best overall staff of any hotel.

Overall stay was wonderful. Check in was made complicated once they saw I booked it through a 3rd party,(Hotels.com) Hotel was fully booked and they said they couldn't guarantee the room i booked because i didn’t by the insurance. They also wouldn't honor my Gold/Platinum status or offer any more perks. I am a Bonvoy member and they still wouldn't honor or include that status.

We were told we would be called or texted when our room was ready. Even though we arrived early and apparently our room was ready by at least 4, I had to call the front desk at 4:30 to be told I’d have to get back in the long line to officially check in. Staff did eventually agree to meet me at the front and get me through faster. Not sure why I bothered checking in virtually the night before or giving them my number when I arrived at 2:30 if they were just going to ignore it. For the price, I expected better service. The bartended who served us while we were waiting for our room was amazing and friendly. After the concert, there was no room at the bar, so we sat at a table. We were the only 2 people at a table. Instead of telling us that we needed to order at the bar, both servers simply looked at us a few times but ignored us. I guess they don’t care about providing good service since they tend to stay busy being next to the convention center. Lesson learned.

We stay here when we attend an event at the arena (walking distance). Very nice hotel, with options for dining inside and around the hotel. There’s also a cinema close by. It’s within walking distance of the Library and Amtrak train station.

If you are going to Bakersfield by train, then this hotel is for you. Right next to the train station and easy walking to old town Bakersfield, resturants and antiques shops .

I was attending a concert at Mechanics arena and it was very convenient, a 3 min walk. Staff was very friendly, room was nice and clean. Will definitely stay here next time I’m in town.

Several friends and i went to a concert and the location was perfect .hotel was very nice my only complaint was they stopped serving food at 11 we got back before 11 asked the bartender to order food and she said that they were closing so we went to bed hungry.my suggestion would be to have food for their guests until at least midnight or honor the time they have set especially after an event next door

From entrance to exit, I had the best experience with the staff and the restaurant bar and grill. The food was delicious, costly, but delicious.

Really…room and front desk were great.. The restaurant has a lot to be desired.. food imported from McDonald….awefull… ambience in restaurant very not even as nice as the snack area and bar. Disappointed.☹️

Staff was friendly and accommodating. We arrived earlier than expected and they got us into a room. Loved the food in the bar and the location to the concert venue was perfect!
