Great location, friendly staff, and free parking… but that’s it. The AC system was down for the whole property, they don’t let you know before arrival but when you arrive with a sign on the front doors. What are you supposed to do get a last minute reservation elsewhere? They did “upgraded” us to a balcony room with the idea of opening the balcony door over night to cool room. It worked but tell me why there isn’t a least a screen door to avoid bugs from coming in and a little extra safety. The pool and jacuzzi were also out of service and again no heads up when booking, specifically booked this hotel for jacuzzi use. Would stay here only for proximity to the village and free parking but that’s it!

AC was not functioning, and the pool was only 3.5 feet deep and had no heat (very cold). The sauna was also broken and cold. I felt very disappointed since I had children with me. The rooms were extremely hot, and overall, I will not be returning. The only positive aspect was its proximity to the Village.

Restaurant is advertised, but it is not open for lunch or dinner and bar is closed (would have been nice to know beforehand) Sauna is broken (literally the only reason we chose the place) and someone was using it to smoke cigarettes in and squating/living in the gym. Great area but property needs a lot of love. Hilton should be doing better than this, the advertisements should state what’s broken or closed. It’s misleading and cost us what should have been a nice relaxing long weekend that turned into just a waste of money. The staff was friendly but are obviously not being given the man power, training, or resources to keep the place fully operational.

Property is either in process of bankruptcy or ownership change. I heard 2 different stories. However, air conditioning system for entire hotel has beeb broken for 2 months and no repairs scheduled. The hot tub was also non functioning. No repairs are being made. If this is how Holiday Inn allows there brand to be represented, I'd never book at a Holiday Inn facility again. Staff, however, was great and relocated me to a room that was less than 80 degrees in the evening. I felt bad for the staff who were left on the front line to deal with unhappy customers by their management.

When we arrived, we found out the whole Hotel’s air-conditioning system was out and would not be repaired till the morning. They did provide us with a Phan. It was difficult to get my mom in and out of the hotel as their ADA elevator was also broke and the only way to get to the other elevator was for her to walk down stairs. It was warm during the day because it was summer to the point of uncomfortable, but in the evening it was nice and cold with the windows open and the fan going so we went ahead and stayed as the room has been prepaid for. when I checked out, they did not charge my room to my bank for almost a month.

The air conditioning and the toilet didn't working the first room we were assigned and we were moved to another room. The air didn't work on that room either. The hot water in the shower did not work. The pool was not maintained and the Jacuzzi was not heated.

The AC was broken and the rooms were 84 degrees. When we asked the fron desk just gaslit us and said "we just didn't know how to work it... they told us to just open the windows and it will cool off at midnight." Staff was rude and did not care at all. Sign on the front desk said be back in 10 minutes for hours. Spa did not work, pool was filthy, fire doors were tied open with plastic trash bags, ice makers did not work. Stay away from this pit.

My husband & I met some other family members here for a celebration of life ceremony in town. The hallways smelled of mildew, but the rooms did not. Our stay was comfortable...comfy bed, nice shower & clean rooms. Our room even had a fireplace. Pretty nice. We paid extra ti have breakfast included, which was pretty good, as you can choose 9ff regular menu and have your $ credited to it. Weekends there is a buffet. We were not there for that. All in all, we'd stay here again.

Really enjoyed my time here. The rooms were nice with a fireplace, microwave, and fridge inside. The gym has a sauna. There was an arcade with a pool table. Restaurant had good food. Was walking distance to the street with shops, restaurants and bars. Overall great time!

The room had no air and srayed at 80 degrees. The pool was cold and dirty the jacuzzi was ice cold . We had to have the t.v. ,refrigerator serviced. The shower took 15 minutes to drain. However under the circumstances the staff was very helpful and pleasant. .

Been staying here annually with family for years. Each year it slows more wear and tear. This year, the groundfloor unit had stained carpet, the shear curtains were ripped, sliding glass door floor lock was missing, main door didn’t shut/lock and pocket door for bathroom had no handle- just the holes - so no privacy. Outside grounds are weedy, table and chairs all over the place and peeling paint. Same gal at front desk as last year, she listened to our issues but it seems that like so many businesses the answer is staffing/ management issues. Maintenance came and looked at our room concerns - no solutions. Mgmt. was understanding and offered to reduce the nightly rate. This is not about money, it is about standards, attention to details and security. With so much competition and Airbnb’s available I would love to see the corporate owner invest in this property. The rooms with sliding glass doors should have screens. They have a large patio area - clean up the rocks/weeds, invest in big Fire ring with some comfortable chairs, cornhole games, umbrellas etc - make it a social area. They have a patio couch at the lobby entrance that is old and stained - first impressions folks!! You have an Awesome location and facilities-it is shameful that it is in disrepair and not being used to its potential 😢

We were there for Oktoberfest and didn’t have to walk far to catch the free transit to the convention center. There’s even a German deli with beer across the steeet. Those were the big wins. The front desk staff were kind and helpful, and the property overall was clean. That said, it’s definitely dated. The bathroom towels were super thin—think 1-ply—and way too small for an adult (they barely wrap around you), so bring your own if you can. I was hoping to enjoy the pool, but it was small and awkwardly placed in the parking lot, so that was a no-go. The AC wasn’t working during my stay, though they did provide fans. The property could use some updates and repairs, but nothing was truly awful. It felt like I was visiting in the off-season; I imagine the place comes alive in the winter. There’s even a little on-site restaurant and bar with live music at night, which was a nice touch. Overall, it’s not as cute, modern, or comfortable as other Big Bear spots I’ve stayed at, but the unbeatable location in the heart of the village makes it worth considering—especially during the winter months

The hotel is right in big bear village making it convenient to walk to restaurants and shops. The check in and out was quick and easy. The room is comfortable with fireplace upostered chair desk and chair, fridge microwave and Keurig coffee maker. All in great condition. The in house restaurant was closed. Generally a very nice experience.

We booked a room on the 4th floor, M (what does this mean anyway?), which ended up being a waste. Windows 5 feet above the floor offered only light and a peek at the chimneys and roof. Puzzling... Pictures on the website were misleading! Bathroom lighting was terrible. Maybe it's snug in the middle of winter but we won't be back to find out.

My husband and I just wanted to get out of town for a couple of days. I booked a standard King room which had a fireplace which would have been nice in the winter. Our room had a very small window so I would suggest booking a balcony/patio room instead. The bed was a little firm for my husband but fine for me. Having a Keurig coffee maker in the room was nice however only one coffee cup and no regular (unflavored) coffee. The location of the hotel in the Village was great. Being the middle of the week in October, there wasn't much going on. Overall a good choice.

1. Air didn’t work. They said they’ll bring a fan to the room and never did. 2. TV didn’t work. One person says they’ll send someone up. We went out for several hours for dinner return to it still not working. Call down again they say it’s still not working properly. 3. The restaurant said they closed at 10 (on a Friday night) but when we walked down at 8:45 pm they said the kitchen closes at 9. It was so annoying because the hotel was a perfect location to everything but now we’d think twice before booking here again.

Location is great and that’s really the only reason we stayed there. They provide coffee, service and water, but both were always empty. Each time at check out and check in line was at least 4 to 6 people deep. And staff apologize but said they were new and training. Also told us no other staff was coming in for hours. Wasn’t as clean and bedding was of very poor quality. Definitely not resort status.

Loved the location. Did not like that I had to flag someone down to take care of my room. A great love was the following: I left my iPad in my room when I left. Called the hotel when I got home . They checked the room and found it. A manager by the name of Darren Lane personally took my info and had my iPad mailed to me. That is great customer service guys.

I usually like this hotel, unfortunately this most recent time we were disrupted in the morning by a member of hotel staff who I believe was one of the managers. He banged on our door multiple times, and said that we were in a room that was unreserved? He tried coming in after we said hold on a moment and almost saw me exposed. I told him our last name we were registered under and told him which member of staff checked us in, showed him that we had the room keys for the room we were in, then he said it was the employee at the front desk who didn’t properly check us in? He then walked off without an apology for the mixup. We were startled and bothered being it was fairly early in the morning and they assumed us to be in the wrong instead of asking. Hopefully staff to staff communication and improves in the future and they don’t assume wrong intentions of their guests.

Website says the hotel has restaurant and room service… once of the reasons I chose it since I was traveling with my little ones… Once I tried to order something, front desk was a little rude about it saying they didn’t have any room service and that their restaurant manager has been out for months so they don’t offer the service any longer… then I tried to ask for options and they were of no help and a little rude on the phone, like just trying to hung up…

Overall, the Holiday Inn Big Bear Lake is a lovely property in a great setting. The staff on the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. The room was fantastic with a lovely fireplace which made the room feel very cosy. The biggest disappointment for us and the reason for a decreased score, was the fact we paid an additional amount for breakfast online, to find out upon arrival that the hotel does not offer breakfast. The restaurant attached to the hotel was where we were signposted to for breakfast, which I had to pay for again. This was such a shame and it was disappointing that the hotel would advertise a service and take payment for something they are unable to provide. I would highly recommend the property for a room only booking, but would advise against selecting breakfast so that you don’t end up in the same situation we did, paying for breakfast twice.

The air conditioning did not work. I was there for 4 days and on the last day it smelled like roach spray in the second floor hallway. Paid for breakfast in advance and it only comes with a drink and a choice of pancake or French toast, eggs and sausage are extra. I ordered an extra juice that was $5. I ordered a side of sausage that was $5. Of course none of this includes a tip.
