A lovely boutique hotel right on Carlsbad’s superb beach, with amazing views & sunsets. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean, tastefully decorated and with all necessities. Complimentary breakfast was delicious and a new surprise each day. Beach chairs, umbrellas and toys are provided. Stairways between rooms, pool, & beach may present a problem for elderly or disabled (only one of the three buildings has an elevator). I recommend the rooms with ocean views.

awesome property right on the beach. Pool located on the deck above the beach hit it as well. Guest can enjoy the fire pits along the pool. plenty of amenities to enjoy such as complementary breakfast every morning or your option to have breakfast in bed. The staff was always a text away and ready to help at any time. We also enjoyed writing the complementary bikes as we rode through Carlsbad Village. Which is walking distance from the hotel. We enjoyed your stay we’ll be telling friends and family about the property.

Great location, but average at best accommodations. The photos look like renderings compared to the actual property. Very rocky beach directly in front of hotel, bath water temp pool, no hot tub. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

This was a very nice property and very clean. The reason for the rating is because they don’t have a Bar or a restaurant in the hotel. You have to walk elsewhere and/or make reservations which can be a bummer. I understand we can walk, but there are times you just want to stay at the hotel and relax.

We had such a wonderful stay at Beach Terrace! The rooms were super comfortable, the views were gorgeous, and the location is quiet but perfectly walkable to everything. We especially loved the pool area and that they set up chairs and umbrellas right on the beach for guests—such a nice perk that made our time so relaxing. A couple of little things that could make it even better: the bathroom lighting wasn’t great, so a light-up mirror with magnification would be amazing. And it would have been nice to be able to sit by the pool while waiting for our room to be ready. They told us we weren’t allowed to enjoy the hotel pool or beach areas until we checked in which left us a couple of hours to kill offsite when we would have liked to relax a bit while we waited for our room. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back

Likes: Our room overlooked the beach. The staff were very friendly. Dislikes: No elevator or ramps and lots of stairs, so not suitable for handicapped persons. Housekeeping was not proactive; we stayed for 4 weeks and had to ask every time we needed something. Kitchen area was far too small for use by long-term guests and no kitchen utensils were provided. Toilet did not flush properly. On-site parking is expensive. A lot of noise from guests in adjoining rooms. Breakfast options very limited. Pool area exposed to cool ocean breeze.

Can’t go wrong with beachfront! So many good features, they had plenty of beach chairs & umbrellas and the pool has lots of loungers. Extra touch was little bonfires & blankets for anyone wanting to watch sunset. Great place to stay!

Fantastic! I love that it's right on the beach. Chairs, towels, umbrellas, beach toys and boogie boards available. Staff came around with ice cream, nice touch! Loved sitting at the fire pits at night.

We stayed here during terrible Pacific Ocean storms, so the hotel couldn't control the fact that we couldn't use any of the beach amenities. It was a pretty, spacious hotel room with a big bathroom that afforded lots of privacy. The only negative I have is that the sheets on one of the beds were dirty (I always check when we reach the room). They were changed immediately. Not sure how that happened but the rest of the room seemed quite clean.

The room was clean and views are great. It’s a beautiful beachfront hotel. The flooring may need an upgrade but overall it’s good. They have a nice beachfront with its own chairs and umbrellas. Good location and great restaurants and bars. Great place to eat is the Campfire.

Beach Terrace Inn is our favorite inn in Carlsbad. We've been a loyal customer for over 14 years. We love the convenience to the town, the beach. However, this past trip we encountered problems with housekeeping. They're definitely understaffed. We don't know whether it's due to the higher minimum wage in California or the increase in immigration enforcement but they had problems keeping up, We even had one day when there was no housekeeping, We had to go to the front desk to get fresh towels.

We had an absolutely amazing stay. The staff are helpful and welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable. We took full advantage of the pillow menu, coffee maker choices, and petite breakfast. The breakfast is very well done and delicious. It’s not as small as you might think. It was perfect to take to our balcony and eat in front of the ocean. There were dolphins who like to swim around right outside our room. The beach was a bit rocker than I anticipated but that didn’t take away from anything. W loved the beach and the toys/chairs they provided. Location is perfect. We will definitely be back and highly recommended.

This location was perfect , close to the beach and downtown. Cozy. Only complaint is the enormous amount of mold in the shower. If you’re paying luxury pricing you should get a luxury stay. Mold should not be apart of that.

Our only complaint for this property was the WiFi. Rarely worked for us. However, the rooms were large and comfortable, We had a partial ocean view and we could see much more of the ocean than expected. The breakfast was also a great start to the day.

Our oceanfront room was great. It was very spacious and simply furnished. We spent a lot of time on our balcony looking at the sea and watching the swimmers and sunbathers. The couch on the balcony was just perfect for us. A note to senior travelers-there are 15 outdoor stairs from the hotel lobby to our room. A bit daunting for those of us who are a bit older.

This was our first time here. WOW! My husband and I absolutely love it here! It was so perfect, we booked an additional night! We had the panoramic oceanfront king suite. Impressed! Huge bathroom with a beautiful shower; kitchenette, closet, foyer, living area with couch, huge oceanfront balcony with NO cautions of any kind in front of you! Has a comfy futon-ish couch & chair on balcony. I ended up sleeping on the balcony every night LOL. The staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. Convenient! Wow! Carlsbad village is absolutely walkable with tons of very good restaurants, shops etc. This hotel was the answer to what my husband and I needed! So much so, we decided to make this hotel our yearly vacation place. Highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.

The oceanfront rooms are truely oceanfront. Beautiful and large room(#28). Nice bedding, choice of 6 different pillow types. Opened the slider and heard the ocean the whole time. Staff was very friendly all around. Plenty of street parking. The pool was heated in january. Breakfast, not really breakfast. Croissant or bread with jam. Bread was fresh. Coffee in the room was just OK. Had a great visit. Enjoyed the location to shops and restaurants.

The property is located in a good area, it is nice and the room was big with ocean views. The real problem is that the walls are paper thin!!! I was there having a nice weekend with my husband and there was a family with children next door. You could hear every bit of their conversations, the tv, and their kids playing. We were trying to have peaceful mornings and it was impossible.

This property is obviously an older complex that has been refurbished over the years. Our room was supposed to be partial ocean view but we basically had an unobstructed view of the ocean over the top of the building in front. If you left the balcony door open the sound of the ocean was ever present. When sitting on the balcony you will want to turn the air conditioning off because the fan is right next to the balcony. The town of Carlsbad is walking distance with a number of great dining options. My only complaints are just the age of the building results in a few areas that are rough around the edges. I would stay her again.

This place is absolutely wonderful, we got an ocean king, and it was just gorgeous. The views did not disappoint, the room Very spacious. And the staff here was all working so freaking hard, they Do an amazing job, shout out to the dude at the beach valet, my four-year-old made buddies with him. All the staff that we encountered were extremely pleasant.

My husband and I have stayed at Beach Terrace a few times. The staff are always accommodating and kind. I love that you have options of beach cruisers, an awesome pillow menu (thanks for the body pillow my 34 week pregnant body loved that) and beach service! The pool/beach staff set up chairs and an umbrella for you. Price is def worth it!

Took our office staff for a weekend getaway, the hotel is in perfect location, close to all you need in Carlsbad. I’ll age, many restaurants, flat and clean Carlsbad Walk, free bikes to use and clean as it can be, simple but tasteful breakfast, I would highly highly recommend to family and couples. Pool is warm an tons of ocean view and surf.

Front desk staff was amazing upon check in. Location was relaxing. Room was very big and fit my family comfortably. Games for check out to play in the room or any other area. Pool is heated with many fireplace locations to watch sunset. Hot cocoa at night in the front desk area. Daily breakfast had different selections every morning. We loved this place!!! Hope to stay here another time.

I like the Beach Terrace because it’s really close to the Beach. Dining options is just around the area. Friendly staff from their Guests service to their beach service. Free use of their beach umbrellas, chair and towels. The hotel is simple outside but with amazing room's design. I love their bathroom so much. I like the idea of free breakfast but it’s so cold. It’s a very nice first experience but definitely not the last. I will keep you in my list whenever I will visit Carlsbad Beach. Thank you for your fast and friendly service.
