Capri Laguna on the Beach - A Boutique Hotel

This is a lovely hotel! Beachfront property with easy access to the Main Street and well rated restaurants. The pool is heated and the staff are truly very helpful. Rooms are large and comfortable. The decorations are tasteful, I personally loved the statues around the hotel because they were fun and had some character. Of note - a/c is not central but the in room portable units do their job well. Keep an eye out for the random tomato plant on the path down to the beach! It seemed to me that the building is older but well taken care of and very clean- especially considering all the sand guests must track in. Parking is thankfully easy and secure. The owner, Nick, really made us feel at home. The sunset was gorgeous. I’m thankful that we stayed at Capri!

Great location and got balcony beach view of ocean at a good price point. Clean, comfortable bed, and friendly staff. Ample parking but some is several doors down at auxiliary parking lot. This hotel has lots of stairs as it is built into the hillside. There are ADA accommodations like a track lift but probably not what you’d want if you aren’t able to take stairs and luggage to your room. The breakfast is Continental style and could use more fruit options and maybe muffins or danish in addition to toast and bagels. The free trolley is outside the door. Private beach access. Million dollar views. We’d return.

check in was fantastic with Morgan- I didn't like the room I chose and she immediately found exactly what I wanted. we got all checked in early. There is someone on the beach who gives you towels and there is nice loungers and umbrellas. Loved the view from room. the continental breakfast was plenty. love coffee in room or lobby and cold water dispenser in the lobby

Great location ! We never moved our car the entire weekend. The room Was nice with great view . Wish the pool Was bigger with more chairs . Only 2 chairs and pool Was so small that if other people were in it you couldn’t really go in . It was heated though . The beach access was nice and the breakfast was what you would expect it The coffee was excellent !

This was our third stay at the Capri so its quirkiness hasn't kept us away. The location is wonderful. On the beach. There are a lot of stairs that you will use every day--just be aware. The parking is "challenging" but if you use their off-site lot it's better and not far. Really great to have a mini fridge and microwave too!

Clean & comfortable with incredible multilevel decks looking out over the waves. Nick, Esme, Bachir, Morgan always friendly & accommodating. The beach boys always with smiles, helpful with umbrellas and towels. Our time at Hotel Capri Laguna was Above & Beyond expectations!

The property is very nice and right on the beach. Be aware that to get to the beach you must go down at a lot of stairs. Additionally, parking is very tight and I scraped the whole side of my car on a post that was right on the white line between two spaces. These parking spaces are designed for small vehicles not anything like a SUV.

Our room was right on the water, just as the pictures showed. It was really great! Also, the room had a mini refrigerator, which was very useful. The continental breakfast was a great added bonus & so was the free parking. The only thing to note that was a negative was the on premises parking. The stalls are almost impossible to get in if you have a bigger car. We were given directions to the overflow lot that's less than a blockaway in case there was no parking when we got in later after dinner. I feel that the check-in instructions should have made it clear that if you have a medium to larger vehicle, that you should go to the overflow lot directly, where the parking is suitable, without even trying to park on grounds. That said, we would stay here again & just park in the overflow lot to begin with.

The location of this hotel is amazing - you really get access right to the beach and the umbrellas/beach chairs are a really nice touch. Staff was also very friendly and we had no issues checking in, however we did run into an issue with our keycard where neither one was working, but staff fixed it right away! Our biggest complaint with the hotel is the cleanliness of it. Most of the furniture was not well kept and dirty. It did not feel as luxurious as it should have for the amount we paid for an Oceanfront room. The room was also very weirdly shaped out, and the TV was in such an awkward position. The bathroom also felt very cramped, but it was overall clean, at least. Overall, the location is what you are mostly paying for, but a good option if you're not planning to stay in your room for an extended period of time.

It was dirty it smells it was not what I expected I thought for $600 a night it was not worth it at all.

Hotel was not in great condition with minor issues all throughout the hotel and room. Service checkin was good, free breakfast was fine with few choices, and pool was clean well maintained. Room had unpleasant musty smell from air conditioner, furniture was well worn and room just had minor repairs needed (doors not sliding, wall putty jobs, odd bathroom doors that did not close). Construction from hotel next door was not disclosed and construction started right outside room at 7:30am. Saving grace of hotel - lots of beach tables and chairs and location on beach was fantastic. Overall - beach was great with lots of amenities but rooms and noise from construction was not great.

The location was great! The cleanliness was not good. The floor was super dirty, the shower had mildew all around. I had to request water because housekeeping would forget to leave us our water bottles.

The details were very much lacking at The Capri. Houskeeping staff was loud in the morning. Slamming doors and talking loudly. They forgot to leave us coffee packets. The forgot to leave water bottles. There was a nice balcony but no chairs or table to enjoy the ocean view. To use the charging port on the desk, you had to unplug the portable air conditioner. To use the coffee maker, you had to run the cord over the sink. The vinyl flooring was dirty enough that you could not walk barefoot in the room. The king bed had a flat sheet rather than a fitted sheet and it would come untucked. There was not a do not disturb tag for the door so housekeeping would rattle the lockset in the morning. We finally asked for one and they rattled the lockset in the morning anyway. Just a lot of details that were not addressed by the staff that took away from our enjoyment of the stay. Laguna Beach was a very nice town with some really good restaraunts and shopping but I cannot recomend the Laguna Capri Hotel.

We had an excellent stay. We highly recommend this hotel. Service was excellent. Beach is easy to access with towels, chairs and umbrellas. The beach is amazing. The hotel is in a great location close to the heart of Laguna Beach Downtown area. Our bed was clean and mattress was comfortable and the room was clean. We will stay here again!

The staff was phenomenal. Extremely nice all the way around. The pool also had a great vibe to it. The temperature of the water was perfect as well. The room was very clean. Next time I would love to get an ocean view. I think it would make the experience that much better. Amazing experience overall.

Could use an exterior renovation given their rates. Rooms are nice, but my ocean view deck had foggy glass railing (from marine moisture) blocking my seatwd view and it’s a 10 min job to clean it weekly. Great location close to lots of good restaurants and the beach is right in front with a great beach. There’s even a decent surf break. Nice place if your standards aren’t set too high.

The walls are paper thin so unless you are ocean facing and you can listen to the waves, you will hear your neighbors talking, walking, etc.

The staff was so kind and accommodating. Bashir and Nick made us feel at home! They get an A I was a bit disappointed in our oceanfront room since it overlooked the top of the lower levels roof and couldn’t see the sand or washed of any beach just the water and the roof. I think it should be shown in the online pictures.

Pros: beautiful views and steps away from the beach. Free parking, albeit, tiny spaces. Cons: Although some reviews describe the ocean sound as peaceful, it was incredibly loud to the point of being a nuisance when trying to sleep. Our sliding balcony door didn’t close properly and I’m sure that contributed to the problem. The only source of air was a plug in unit that was also unbearably loud. The room was clean, but had an odd stuffy smell throughout. The bathroom had only a frosted partition door. There were no beach chairs/umbrellas/towels, but you could use the pool towels. Overall, based on other reviews, I would have thought this place was a dream, but for someone traveling with a young child it proved to be dated, noisy, and not somewhere I would not return.

Extremely kind and friendly staff. Very helpful and welcoming. The suite was very basic with old and broken appliances and fixtures. The AC units are in-room add-ons with a dryer hose and run very loud. One was broken but I was able to fix it myself and save the hassle of a late night repair. Could have been a problem if I wasn’t handy. We had a few other maintenance issues the next day that had staff working in our room while we waited. The first was a towel holder which the maid broke, then service had to repair. Fun. While in the room, service found safety issues with the shower drain that also needed repair. I understand and they were kind about it but the “repair” didn’t actually fix anything in the end and it took a long time. Unfortunately, they didn’t inspect and find these things before our stay, rather than during. Parking was difficult. It’s mostly off site in a small lot that didn’t have any spaces available multiple times. The few spaces at the hotel and in the off site lot are both very small, even for a beach hotel. Due to a complete lack of any parking spaces in either location, we had to park a few blocks away on the street and pay, then move our vehicle before morning. The key cards had trouble for multiple guests.On the plus side, beach is right there. We had a beautiful ocean view. The walkout to the beach was convenient and the location was right in town with lots walkable. Again, the staff, especially at the front desk, were extremely kind and pleasant.

"Ocean View" room w/ balcony & lounger was so nice. The portable AC worked well, but was a bit loud. Appreciated the friendly and helpful staff and continental breakfast. Good location & close to shops and dining. Hotel is a bit old and bathroom was small, but comfortable bed & clean room.

The staff were friendly and understanding with my daughter who is on the spectrum. The gentleman at the front desk made sure to know my daughter's name and greeted her by name every time we saw him. We felt very welcomed here. We stayed in a beachfront King room and it was wonderful! Everything was clean and the views were amazing! Loved sleeping to the sound of the waves.

Rather expensive for the room. Extremely small bathroom, mediocre room decor and almost 500 bucks a night for a very cramped balcony.

We enjoyed the location and large room. We stayed in the 2 Kings "ocean view," which was a great size for a family of 4, but it wasn't really ocean view like on the ocean; it's more across a bridge so that was a little misleading for us.

First room was small and smelled pretty bad. Asked for a different room and they offered an upgrade to a mini suite with ocean view for another $100. It was worth it. Large balcony and no odor. TV was broken and the manager responded within 5 minutes and fixed it himself. Impressive. Incredible location and beautiful views, but don’t book a small room.

Nick and the team were amazing. Attentive and accommodating, the people there made our stay special.

I booked the Beachfront King Room with a Fireplace for my engagement. The staff, especially the Manager Nick were very kind and went out of their way to make the day go as smoothly as possible. Any question/concerns that I had were quickly answered/resolved. They were happy to help and as far as hospitality goes they made me feel at home and is the best experience I’ve ever had at any hotel. They also sent flowers with a nice letter for us to celebrate our engagement which was so kind of them. The view was amazing and we loved our stay at Capri Laguna.

The staff and service were wonderful (especially Morgan and the General manager, Nick). The complimentary coffee and breakfast were wonderful. They really make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Initially, we were put in the wrong room, but when they changed our room, it was very nice beautiful view of the ocean, etc. very clean inside the rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Lovely ocean front property in Laguna Beach with easy access to attractions. Very nice staff with prompt attention to service. Our room door did not operate as it should have with multiple attempts to get it fixed. The staff took prompt action to resolve as much as humanly possible. Would return to this property.

Nick and his team were excellent. Upon arrival they did not know it was our anniversary. After speaking with Nick, he discovered it was our anniversary in the conversation, he sent down some flowers to congratulate us. It was an unexpected gesture and shows the class that this establishment has.

We had a great stay at Capri Laguna. The location is amazing with lots of coffee shops and restaurants nearby. The free Laguna beach trolley has a stop right next to the hotel which takes you all over Laguna and stops right at Dana Point. Could not recommend this hotel enough and can’t wait for our next stay here.

Everyone on staff was very accommodating. The property is older but clean and safely maintained. The location is ideal - easy walk to town but far enough away to avoid the busy village traffic etc. The beach is perfect

What is outstanding is the location of this property. It is right on a beautiful, swimmable, walkable, surfable beach. It is close to "downtown" Laguna Beach but there are many dining options closer by. The staff were incredible. Very accommodating and helpful.

Location was everything here- if you want to be right on the beach without worrying about crossing Rt 1 this is it. Downtown is just about a mile- easy to walk and lots of things to see/do on the way. Trolley is easy to use to get around if walking is an issue. Hotel I felt was spacious and ocean view was great- could hear waves from the room which I felt made up for the fact that the hotel was a little shabby in some areas, but our room was bright with new floors and clean beds! The parking was tight, but there’s an annex lot close by we were able to get a spot in. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Very unique experience with the room above the oceans beach. Great views and we spotted a dolphin just behind hotel. Stairs could be a bit challenging for some, but we managed easily.

Great staff customer service. Stairs that led straight down to the beach. They have wine and cheese on the top deck provided by the hotel on Friday evenings while you watch the sunset. The room itself wasn’t the cleanest. Under the bed has not been cleaned in months or more. The shower floors were discolored as if they haven’t scrubbed them. There was dirt all over the doors, and borders of the walls. You can here the people in the next room having an entire conversation through the walls. Great location, motel over hotel vibes for sure.

Stayed two nights and switched to pacific edge down the strip. Capri is a very quaint and intimate setting. I prefer one where there is more life going on personally. the staff were friendly. The cons were the steps to the beach aren't a straight shot. you have to walk across a bunch of rocks to get to a wider section of the beach. Rooms need a bigger TV. no room service here. it's okay, but not for the price point at all. I paid double for what I paid at Pacific Edge and got a better view and larger room w/ room service

This place is for the views! Its a boutique hotel so no bar or restaurant on site but plenty nearby! They also have a decent continental breakfast. Rooms are cozy but have everything you need and you cant get a better view for the price. Has an itialian villa vibe that i loved!

This boutique hotel was better than I expected! Our room was clean, had a perfect location- it was like they had their own private beach and the staff was great! Anytime we needed anything they were prompt and friendly. Also, their continental breakfast was a nice touch and convenient. It was great having breakfast overlooking the ocean. The make your own waffles was surprisingly very good and come out perfect every time. Thanks Capri, we’ll definitely be coming back for another staycation!

Capri Laguna is an older coastal Cali hotel but it was a great place to stay. The employees were all friendly and helpful, the view of the ocean off the upper deck is unmatched and the pool was heated to 85 for a nice night time swim! Breakfast was free with plenty of choice and they have Starbucks in the lobby! It’s fairly bare bones in the room but comfy and quiet! The tide was high when I was there but they have space for chairs and stuff on the beach as well. Highly recommend for a stay!
