It was a great staying two days at the hotel. Good for the prices, nice welcoming at the front desk , pool was dirty , continental breakfast was really good a variety food. The door keys seem to get un programmed . We got stuck in the swimming pool área because our key did not open the door but they helped us fast . I will stay here again.

Hours for the bar were a little limited (10pm on fri/sat) for me personally and obviously not the Hotels fault but since a bartender was sick the service hours were cut even shorter. I want to compliment the staff, everyone was wonderful and attentive.

We booked this hotel specifically for the hot tub. After checking in we find out it was out of service. During check-out we asked the front desk person if they could at least knock off the parking fee for the inconvenience. They said no and that it’s been known the hot tub was out of service. What great customer service. What’s more is she gave me the business card of the owner and suggested I contact him for my request but that it would most likely be rejected. Left a bad taste, probably won’t be back.

Helpful and friendly staff, decent restaurant and bar. Has a pool and hot tub, could be warmer. Aside from that it served its purpose for the price. Seem to safe enough for Oakland and is not associated with the executive hotel next to the airport, which is a terrible property to stay at in comparison.

The hotel itself was fine -- room was clean and nice enough, bed was comfortable, etc. The main reason I was unhappy with my stay has to do with parking. The hotel charges $17 per night for parking (this fee is buried way, way down at the bottom of the information on the Hotels.com page -- you wouldn't see it unless you were really reading all the fine print). This $17 fee is a TOTAL RIP-OFF, because the parking is not in a secure garage or even a secure lot -- it's just an open parking lot, in a not-so-safe area of Oakland (I know Oakland well because I used to live there, so I knew what the area was like -- just wasn't expecting to be charged $17 to park in an unsecured lot in an area where you really can't leave ANYTHING in your car without a fairly significant risk that your window will get smashed in). I had a LOT of my belongings in my car because I'm currently on an extended road trip, so I had to lug all my things up to an upper-floor hotel room because it's unsafe to leave things in your car. So I was pretty pissed off when I was charged $17 for parking. It's not like this is a downtown area or other place with expensive land where a charge like that would make sense. It's basically just a big rip-off, and the Hotels.com site doesn't display that additional fee prominently enough in the hotel pricing that guests are likely to be aware of it before booking. I regretted making this booking and wish I had stayed elsewhere.

Staff was great, especially Kim. Clean, nice facility with good breakfast. Paying $17/night for open lot parking seems steep. Close to freeway and not far from a marginal area, but still a gem by the water. Recommend paying for the bay view side. A great choice for the area.

The hotel is beautiful and updated. The room was very comfortable, and the view was exceptional. We really enjoyed our night, and sat out on the balcony to have a glass of wine while we looked at the Bay Bridge and the San Francisco skyline in the distance. Right now the restaurant is closed for dinner on the weekends, but we bought burritos at the taco truck out front, which were great.

The pool and spa don’t get enough attention. Should always brush the pool and spa keep clean of algae build up and the jets on the spa never are working.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. I didn’t like the parking charge, but there was overnight security for the vehicles that I appreciated. Our room was noisy since it was right next to the freeway and our window didn’t open. We upgraded for the rest of our stay (for a nightly fee) to have a room on the water side with a balcony and slider door. The room was a little bigger too I think. Breakfast was good with a lot of options, hot food as well. Ended a little early, at 9:00 am so we had to rush a bit in the morning.

At a first glance everything looked clean. However when I woke up on Friday morning I saw ants in the bed. I do not like any sort of bug and felt very uncomfortable and disgusted that I was laying on ants.

It was awful we had Ants in our bed with us I noticed it was an ant bomb in the room by the air conditioner! I called front desk she moved us into the next room same thing there it was ants in the carpet the bathroom I feel like I should have gotten half of my money back because I didn’t sleep good who want Ants Bugs anything crawling on them while there sleeping i definitely didn’t sleep good I wouldn’t rent a room here again! They need to shampoo the carpet and the Ant bomb didn’t work as we were sleeping it’s a bed full of Ants On us inside my husband ears etc very disgusting feeling! And they should have giving me a refund back half off ‘ very disgusting I want be staying here ever again

Great value, super clean hotel, great views, awesome service, delicious breakfast! Special shout outs to Kim and Maria at the front desk. They both went above and beyond to make sure that we were well informed and well taken care of. Kim answered all of our questions and Maria made extra arrangements for us to get a more appropriate room. I can’t say enough about how helpful they were. One request… please bring back the On the Rocks drinks as part of the front desk bar. Also, so sorry to see the price increase for the great salmon and steak dinners. As I have said in prior reviews, those dinners were the best deal in all of Oakland! Very high quality made to order meals for a super reasonable price!

Overpriced. The worst part was we got there later in the evening. Our toilet did not flush. It was slow. We didn’t want to bother requesting for a different room as it was late and we were tired. Outdated. Furniture in the room and the lobby could use replacing. Just worn out and dirty. This is an old motel. We paid $250 for one night. I can’t believe how highly this place is rated. Low standards by other guests maybe? The “free” breakfast? Who knows… We informed the front desk and housekeeper about the toilet…the response was “meh!”

Where do I begin?.. I checked in reservations were for a room with double beds side by side. They put me in a room with bunk beds. Literal bunk beds. I figured that they must have had a reason for this I.e., the rooms that more accurately matched my selected choice (side by side double beds) were for whatever reason not up to par therefore when I called front desk to inquire I asked if I could see the room they were moving me to. She told me no they do not allow me to see it first. I found that strange but I just went with it. They moved me to a side by side bed room. Immediately I realized the room had an awful stench. I turned on the AC and immediately began itching. I opened the blinds to open the window and the windows were bolted shut. I couldn't open the windows. As I raised the blinds the itch turned to burning. My nose and my eyes immediately started burning and watering. I saw mold all around the window seal. The bathroom was completely out dated and filled with mold spores. The whole room was a Petri dish of mold and bacteria. When logging into the wifi I saw a network connection which read, “We LOVE H**KERS,” there were summers eve packets (women douches) in the second bed. It was the absolute WORSE experience I've had yet. Needless to say I booked for two weeks. On the morning of day three I called the front desk and shared my experience and requested a refund. I was told that so long as I check out before 11AM the hotel would refund the remainder of my stay.

After a long travel day we arrived exhausted and eager to retire. The front desk staff person was very personable, giving us a room on the first floor. Note we reserved water view and were given a small room overlooking the fenced pool. We returned to the front desk and after some discussion were given a room on the 3rd floor which had our water view. But.... we couldn't get in because the keys did not work. We went downstairs, the keys were reprogrammed and we thought, finally! Still an issue, so maintenance was called. We waited at the door for 10-15 minutes since the only person who could assist was helping someone else. I was insensed, returned to the front desk sharing I was 81 years old, it had been a long day and my back and legs were sore and had enough! Finally the lock was fixed and we were able to get into our room. On a positive note the room was lovely, the view was lovely, the bed was comfortable and the shower was good.

Wonderful experience. Needed a place because my grandson is in the nearby hospital. Had my 2 year old grandson. They were so sweet to him. Then some things didn't work in the room so they quickly changed rooms and helped with the move. Everything was easy.

Starting from the customer service Maria was a Disgraceful and Rude person. We left a day early because we were so unhappy. I spoke to the Manager Miguel and have contacted the corporate office.

The pool was heated which was nice! The area around the hotel was not nice and there was a major highway across the street making it noisy. A homeless encampment was also nearby which was not mentioned and may have changed our decision to stay there. The water view room was so nice though! Definitely way better than the city view of a highway and dirty area.

Oakland has a not-so-great reputation (somewhat underserved). But this hotel is located in a unique place next to a channel and fishing pier separated fairly conclusively from Oakland proper by a freeway and railroad track. That's not a bad thing because over the freeway and railroad track is a quasi industrial area with scattered homeless tent cities. Nevertheless, the freeway and railroad tracks are an effective barrier against street hassles. I rather stay here than in San Francisco city. BART and the highways allow access to Silicon Valley, Napa, and Marin without the horrific traffic jams near the city. By the way, Oakland has some excellent black southern and creole food as well as BBQ . . . don't knock Oakland till you've tried it!

Hotel was fine. Good staff and amenities. However location is not good. Whilst the river front views are great be aware you the hotel is in the middle of a regeneration dockside scheme, you are surrounded on all sides by derelict industry and all the issues that brings

From all the hotels I have stayed, the breakfast here is the bomb! I loved the vegetarian options, the fresh cut up fruit, the waffle machines (x2), the continuous refills, the eating area was kept clean, loved the various pastry options (gluten-free included), I can just taste the freshness. Thank you for this! I will be staying here again and will be my first choice next time I need to stay in Oakland, CA.

Loved the beautiful view from the bar, strolled around outside while waiting for our dinner and took a few photos. We ordered steak and salmon and took it to our room, it was absolutely delicious!

It’s unfortunate that I have to write this review. The room smelled like sweat and feet. The continental breakfast was also terrible. Not to say that free breakfast is great, but even the quality of the coffee was very bad.
