We booked for two nights and were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and proximity to the pier. The partial ocean view was better than many hotels with full ocean views (the room was spacious with a full size refrigerator and nice kitchenette), with a direct view of the pier and beach. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The only negative comments I have are the parking, which is limited and extremely tight, and the narrow stairs which lead to the office and rooms. People with injuries or disabilities might have issues accessing the rooms because the hotel is built into the hillside (as all of them in the area are). Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Seahorse Resort.

Although there are positives things about this property I wouldn’t call it a RESORT. Resorts usually have at least one pool, maybe a restaurant and an exercise room. This property has moon of these. This property appears to have been an apartment complex converted to a hotel. The staff I dealt with were nice, but to act like having no maid service is a plus was kind of ridiculous. When I go on vacation I don’t want to worry about cleaning my room and washing dishes! If I had had this information prior to my visit, I would have booked a different hotel.

There were several different levels that you had to walk stairs to get down or around some things at some point, but you could easily use your car as well. If you had to do stairs the other weird thing was you had to set towels outside the door and trash outside the door because they didn’t do housekeeping services every day.

Cute hotel and our room had a great view. Check-in was ok considering we had to access a lock box to get a key. Smart locks would be a great upgrade for this hotel since the office closes at 7pm. We had to meter park on the street because there were no spots left.

The parking is very tight. The bathrooms are very small. At night the outside lights near bedroom are kept on. So even with blackout blinds the bedroom was bright

Great locations and cozy place. We loved watching the ocean, walking and relaxing on the deck. Staff was friendly, helpful and they even offer beach chairs and umbrellas at no charge. Wonderful place to stay

Had family emergency - had to check out 1day early ; I requested refund of the 1day - but was not granted . Kitchenette was not clean when we entered it had 1/2 bottle of soda & 1/2 eaten apple . But overall location near beach was fantastic

We had an amazing stay at the Sea Horse Resort in San Clemente! The room view was absolutely stunning, with a breathtaking view of the ocean waves and the San Clemente pier. We also enjoyed watching the Amtrak train and the trolley pass by. The check-in process was seamless, and parking was a breeze. The ladies in the office were super friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was spotless and comfortable, and we loved the cozy atmosphere. However, we made the mistake of sleeping with the balcony door open and the fan on, which didn't quite work out as planned since the train noise woke us up in the middle of the night. Despite that minor hiccup, everything else was perfect. The resort's location is unbeatable, with plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. We even took the trolley to a popular Mexican spot, which was a fantastic experience. 5/5 stars The sound of the waves was like music to our ears, and we felt so lucky to be able to listen to it all night. We're already looking forward to our next visit and can't wait to explore more of San Clemente. Highly recommend the Sea Horse Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing coastal getaway!

On the water, clean and spacious suite. Only bummer was the two chairs in “living room” were not comfortable to sit in at night. Needed a couch otherwise perfect. Bed was comfy, kitchen had all things you need and the patio was amazing. Too bad the living area was no comfy.

Pros: The room was clean and seemed to be somewhat recently renovated. The view was amazing and the villa we stayed in had a nice sized balcony to enjoy the ocean view. There is a stairway right next to the rooms leading directly to the shops and cafes, then just cross the street to reach the beach and pier. I loved having the kitchenette to store and reheat leftovers. The staff was very friendly. Con’s: My main and biggest complaint was the bed. I have a lot of back/hip pain and prefer a more plush mattress and this one was very hard. There were 4 pillows on the king bed but I tend to sleep with a couple extra. When I requested a few extra pillows I was told they had no more as the rooms were supplied with the allotted amount. After waking up at 3am in pain we ended up running to Target the next morning to buy a foam mattress topper and extra pillows. There is also a train track on the opposite side of the road that we did hear at least once in the middle of the night. There is a barn door for the bathroom that is not sealed so I would not recommend this room for newer couples. You can definitely hear everything that goes on behind that door and even make eye contact with someone on the toilet if you’re at the right angle (my husband likes to make things awkward). My only other minor complaint is the TV. It is hung in the living space with 2 chairs in front of it. The bed is around the corner. It would be nice to have a place to snuggle up and watch a movie/show.

This hotel is a small older hotel but it has cute charm. The location great, across from the beach. Room is kept up, clean and spacious. If you’re looking for a modern hotel this isn’t it but it’s still a great hotel. Several cafe’s to eat at are below the hotel at street level. Room comes with kitchen with fridge. Would stay again.

love that it is walkable to pier and beach and a few eateries. cute and comfy decor. Parking is easy as long as you have a compact car. A BBQ or community BBQ is not offered. so the kitchen is limited. Only cooking available with the kitchen is a microwave and a very small cooktop. No oven.The bed could definitely use an upgrade. Staff was very inviting and courteous. The loudness around the property can make it hard to relax and or read a book along with sleeping.

This was an awesome hotel. The view alone was worth the price. The room was spacious it has a small kitchen with large fridge. The balcony overlooks the beach and is directly across from the pier. The only downside is the trains but considering how close the tracks are it still isn't very loud it didn't keep us awake or disturb our sleep. We would definitely stay again

This spacious and clean room is in an excellent location (6) with a great view of the pier. There was no AC but the fans did a good job of keeping the room cool. We stayed three nights and it was a great experience. We will be back next year.

Great view of the beach and pier from our balcony, and only steps away! Only minor negative - blackout curtains didn't entirely block a beam of bright morning light, which shone directly on the head end of our bed! Basically our alarm clock, and won't stop us from coming back here again and again!

My stay at the Sea Horse Resort was absolutely fantastic. Even before my trip, I had been in contact with one of their representatives about various questions I had, and when I arrived, I finally got to meet him in person. We had a great conversation, which made me feel incredibly welcomed. Not just him, but every employee I spoke with was genuinely engaged and eager to chat, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It felt more like being at home than staying at a hotel. The room was perfect—comfortable bed, a stunning view of the pier and sunset, and a well-thought-out layout. I had everything I needed to prepare meals and enjoy a great dining experience right in my room. I couldn’t find a single thing to complain about. If someone told me I had to live in this room in San Clemente, I’d be more than happy to! Even when I encountered a small issue—returning to find a broken glass in my room—the level of care from the staff stood out. I was able to reach the manager after hours and her first concern was whether I had been injured. She reassured me multiple times, showing true hospitality and attentiveness. My family has stayed here before, and after having my own experience, I can confidently say this was one of the best stays I’ve ever had at a hotel. I felt more than just a guest—I felt truly welcomed and cared for. I highly recommend this hotel. My room was #6, and even with a partial view, it was more than enough to feel completely satisfied with my overall experience

If someone told me I had to live in this room in San Clemente, I’d be more than happy to! Even when I encountered a small issue—returning to find a broken glass in my room—the level of care from the staff stood out. I was able to reach the manager after hours and her first concern was whether I had been injured. She reassured me multiple times, showing true hospitality and attentiveness. My family has stayed here before, and after having my own experience, I can confidently say this was one of the best stays I’ve ever had at a hotel. I felt more than just a guest—I felt truly welcomed and cared for. I highly recommend this hotel. My room was #6, and even with a partial view, it was more than enough to feel completely satisfied with my overall experience

Our overall stay was exceptional except for our check-out experience. It would have been a 5-star review all-around but the lady at the front office who checked us out named Tayana was extremely rude and lacked courtesy. She couldn't wait for us to leave our room. Check out was 11am and we were about to head out at 11:10am, but she knocked loudly on our door with a frown on her face without saying any greeting whatsoever. Seems like she was having a bad day and took it out on our family. On the other hand, we highly commend Cristina who checked us in. She was very pleasant and welcoming. She made sure to help us when we had issues with our assigned parking. Overall, we loved the location, the unit was very clean and homey. Would highly recommend Seahorse Resort to those wanting to stay in San Clemente.

For us as a couple it was the perfect place. I’m disabled & don’t get out as much as I would like. The beach, hearing the ocean, watching the waves & watching the Sunset was Therapy for me. When I felt functional we enjoyed walks on the pier across the street, walks on the beach great restaurants & yummy ice cream. The view from our room was perfect, very clean, kitchen (fully stocked) with all equipment you would need to cook full meals, refrigerator & freezer, microwave. We will definitely return.

Perfect location for getting to know the area. Right across the street from the pier, Amtrak stop and lots of places to eat plus a convenience store at the end of the block. Downtown is about a 25 minute uphill walk. The trolley stop is across the street which will take you several places within San Clemente.

Im sure normally it isnt so noisy but due to construction, it was very loud in the morning and at night. The were putting new sand on the beach. The train went through pretty often also and that was loud but didnt wake me up. Other than that, it was good. Lots of places within walking distance to eat and so close to the pier and beach.

Enjoyed celebrating my 65th birthday at Seahorse Resort! The suite was comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Walking distance to restaurants and the pier. Watched beautiful sunsets every night. Our dog loved the walks. Parking was convenient. Looking forward to our next stay.

The San Clemente Pier is a short 5 minute walk and the beach is even closer. The little tourist shops & seafood is also walking distance. Also, everything seems to close down at 10:00PM even the bars on weekends so plan accordingly.

What a wonderful vacation! We loved the spacious room and small kitchen, though we never cooked…there are too many great options for dining in the area. We especially enjoyed having breakfast at Frenchies Café on the lower level of our building and dinner at Fisherman's Restaurant on the pier. Having a dedicated parking space was a real treat. Our room was ocean view, so we loved sitting on the patio, people watching and hearing the waves crashing. You do hear the trains throughout the day, not at night, but they go through quickly. We definitely plan to stay here again!

Sea Horse is our favorite place to stay in San Clemente. Unfortunately it seems to be everyone's favorite place to stay. Availability is limited on short notice. Every room we've stayed is is worth staying in again. Always clean, well equipped and has a view of either ocean or pier or both. Great location and walking distance to downtown and lots of restaurants. Very nice farmers market on Sunday mornings. Staff is kind, courteous and efficient.

Wow! This was our first time staying here and we were blown away. We got a great deal on a Sunday night and the location is just incredible. The room is so cute and has everything you need including a kitchen and full fridge. We will definitely be back!

We had an amazing stay at the Sea Horse Resort in San Clemente! The room view was absolutely stunning, with a breathtaking view of the ocean waves and the San Clemente pier. We also enjoyed watching the Amtrak train and the trolley pass by. The check-in process was seamless, and parking was a breeze. The ladies in the office were super friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was spotless and comfortable, and we loved the cozy atmosphere.
