Truckee Donner Lodge

Location was great, staff friendly and helpful. But why have a pool if you’re not going to take care of it? Pool was filled with all kinds of bugs and leaves and hot tub jets didn’t work. Room was spacious and clean but wifi is spotty especially at night when more people are there. The hotel has a lot of potential, but I’ll probably stay somewhere else next time.

The breakfast area was quite dismal, the juice machine as well as hot pancake maker was out of service, no fresh fruit and the coffee was from a machine that came out so blazing hot you couldn't even drink it for a good 20 mins... The pool and hot tub were closed for the season I am guessing but it said nothing on their website or even when I called a week prior to my visit that it would be closed when I arrived. Granted it was very cold when we were there, my husband and I would have liked to enjoy the hot tub :( The rooms were clean, spacious and the hot water in the shower got nice and hot which I love. Overall, this is a great stay for the price you pay... just know that the breakfast accommodations were a bit lacking, I wasn't expecting a 4 star meal but maybe fresh fruit and juice :(

Nice location - close driving distance to Donner Lake and Downtown Truckee. It's quiet and easy to park at. One disappointment was that the pool was out of service during our stay. The complimentary breakfasts were a really nice ammenity - they would alternate proteins between Bacon, and Sausage. Other offers were oatmeal, yogurt, fresh bananas, fresh pancakes, eggs, bagels, bread, english muffins, (w/the ability to toast them), muffins, and cereal. There is also an automated espresso machine that makes hot cocoa, lattes, mochas, etc.

Great bed and very clean. Hot tub not working 9/25/25. Coffee machine down at breakfast. Buffet was aweful!

Having laundry facilities on the same floor as our room was great! The pool was terrific after a long drive. Thank you!

Staff was nice, check-in and out was fast. We had a problem with our TV, the cable that goes into the wall was loose so it glitched while watching. I fell in the shower because the tub was slippery and no grids or mat to prevent that. The pool and hot tub are outside. Went in September so it was too cool for pool so wanted to use hot tub but it was closed. Not a place to hang out but ok if you are just passing through for the night.

Very convenient location, friendly staff, easy to park. The continental breakfast exceeded my expectations with hot scrambled eggs or egg/cheese omelettes, bacon or sausage patties, bagels, yogurt, cereal, pancakes, English muffins, coffee, etc. The pool was comfortable and the hot tub warm. The jets in the hot tub didn’t work well - but no biggie. The AC on the third floor worked - but it was a bit noisy. It did get warm in the third floor and I preferred to run the AC at night anyway. My room was near the elevator - which I would avoid next time if possible - because I consistently heard the “ding” of the doors late into the night. Other than that - great place! Would certainly stay again!

Broken hot tub and pool despite still listing them working on the website and in-room documentation. When asked about it 2 separate staff members became confrontational.

The hot tub was not functional during our entire visit. We specifically selected this property because it had a hot tub. The property was not as advertised. We were very disappointed.

Safe parking. Hot tub not working. No view. Traffic noise all night. Terrible coffee. King room comfortable. Too expensive for few amenities.

The hotel is cute, but upon walking into the bathroom in our room there was still someone else’s body hair all over the shower and floor. That made us a little uneasy about the cleanliness of the room. The beds are not the most comfortable, but it’s a hotel. Just expensive for not an amazing experience.

It was very very clean! The maids did a wonderful job every time they cleaned the room. The breakfast was included and there were several options to choose from! The staff was friendly and very helpful. Dana and Kelly at night were so wonderful and the day people were polite and nice too!

There was pubic hairs in the bathroom in the bathtub on the floor mat under the pillowcase in the sheet. there TV would not shut off. The towel was dirty did not look white. After paying Hotels.com at the hotel, they had me give them an additional hundred dollars on my security When it was time to check out 815 in the morning, there was nobody to help me. They wouldn’t be back until 845 and it wasn’t there a problem for me to check out.

The hotel was easy to find and had plenty of parking. Was able to find a “working” cart to carry my stuff to the room. The room was large and had a comfortable chair to watch TV. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Great hotel- I wish all rooms were as great as this was!!

The hotel's interiors are a bit dated, but the hotel is kept clean and tidy. The interior reminds forest cabin, and it fits it’s location- by the forest.

Not sure how this hotel has the rating it does. From walking in to register the smell of some sort of cleaner was overwhelming. Possibly fabuloso or something similar. Coffee maker in lobby broken , our room also had overwhelming cleaner smell. I had to buy new hose for cpap ( I couldn’t get smell out ) . Our room key didn’t work on multiple occasions and they were aware of it before our stay. They gave us master key giving us access to all rooms not just ours. When we asked front desk about door not working they said “Things happen” we didn’t want to move you !!! The pool was closed due to something broken in the filter. Our room had a leak under sink and tub had spider webs. I’m not expecting the Four Seasons but this hotel was very sub par compared to reviews. Besides the overwhelming smell of chemical cleaner I understand things happen. This wasn’t a “thing” happening, it was lack of maintenance and overall lack of giving a crud

Overall very pleased with our accommodation. Staff are friendly, room was clean, bed was comfy, and was surprisingly quiet considering how close it is to the freeway. TV didn’t work (no signal), but wasn’t a huge issue for us.

Location is beautiful, only issue close to freeway leaving window open could be problem for light sleeper due to traffic noise

Everything was good, except for one suggestion. Please get a thick mattress topper or pad. The mattress was too firm for this side sleeper.

Kind of ran down for the price. The walls are.paper thin. So i learned when here for work not to stay here

Horribly slow WiFi Hot tub not working (2nd time in 2 visits in the past 2 years) Soda machine stole money by not giving me my drinks (showed desk clerk). He referred me to the manager the next morning, who didn't show up at the time he said she would. The person filling in wouldn't help me. They need a system where the hotel handles refunds, then gets recouped by the vending machine company. Very rough experience at this hotel.

This is a nice hotel but it's barebones. The lighting in the room is sparse, the beds are serviceable but not that comfortable. The bathtub is the shower. The staff is nice. This is a at best a 3 star place

1. Room had a door connecting to another room. There was a lot of noise from the other room. I could even hear them snoring 2. Wifi connection was bad. My meeting got disconnected in the middle.

Very good location, but the bathroom needs some love and the heating system works well but is very loud.

Friendly staff, clean property a bit noisy, if you get the side toward the freeway, but workable. The room was spacious (King bed) and the property well taken care.

Read the 1-star reviews before you book. I normally don’t, because I generally assume they’re one-off situations, but my experiences matches many others at TD Lodge. When I arrived, I had a booking mistake (my error, not theirs). As I tried to resolve it the host snapped at me and said, “I’ll only help you if you stop being a BIT**.” Completely inappropriate in any scenario. I did not react and only at the end of our discussion calmly said I shouldn’t have been spoken to that way, which was met with more expletives. (She also mentioned hating her job — it showed.) I shared the experience by asking the GM to step aside privately, so as not to make a scene, but hoping they would could do some training. At first I was met with defensiveness by the AGM, but the GM seemed to listen, which I appreciated. They then offered to help with my booking issue, but then dodged my follow-up: multiple calls/emails, and had desk staff send me in circles to an “off-site GM” who "didnt have time to talk" to me. (Their website’s “Our Team” page listing the CEO and heads of staff is just stock photos and fake names :/ ) I've done everything I can for 2 weeks to not have to write this bad review b/c with some changes this spot could be great. BUT between being insulted by staff and ignored by management, it’s clear this hotel doesn’t care about its guests. Absolutely unprofessional, unacceptable. Do not stay here. If you know who owns Hoseit Management LLC, pass this along to them please.

Hotel is overpriced and room nothing special . WiFi is generally not working . No working computer or printer for customers . Lifeless lobby . Rude about early check in send a message before check in you need to pay more if you want to come early . Staff not at desk before check in time . Get a better deal somewhere else !!

We have stayed at the Truckee Donner Lodge on several occasions and each time the service is amazing, the staff is friendly and very accommodating Im already thinking about booking for next weekend!

Donner is beautiful, and the hotel looks very nice. Sadly, they are totally unprofessional, if not predatory. I told them I will need a late checkout 6 days ahead of time, through Expedia. They fail to respond. If they intend to charge half a day’s stay for less than 1 hour past checkout, you would think they would tell the customer that, especially as I asked several times after checking in. This would have given me an opportunity for choosing whether to stay longer, instead of paying a ridiculous amount for under an hour. But no. They let me check out without informing me of any penalty, and then apply the unapproved charge.

I arrived at 12:30 in the afternoon and as expected I was told that check-in was at 3. The clerk asked if I had gotten an email saying that I could check-in and I said no. She said once I get it I could check-in at that time. I left the hotel to find a place to wait. I received the email 30 minutes later that my room was ready but early check-in was an additional $10. Why didn't she check the room availability? I could have just waited in the lobby. She also never mentioned the early check-in cost.

They wanted to charge $20 for arriving early for check in. Room was ready and hotel wasn’t busy. Pool was closed the entire weekend

Will never do business with truckee donner again. Used my card and charged me an unauthorized and undisclosed amount on top of an "early check in fee" and refused to refund it . We were only told it would be released at check out. Got double charged for the room even though i had a paid receipt from expedia. Outlet in the bathroom didnt work ,the hot tub was not working , one card key didnt work the whole experience was awful.

During my two night stay the staff at the front desk helped me find restaurants and accommodated all my needs. Though I was unable to check in early they allowed me to leave my old bike and luggage while I went to town for a few hours. Thank you to the staff

The Truckee Donner Lodge is conveniently located off 80, with easy on/easy off freeway access (without being close enough to have traffic noise). It offers comfortable lodgings and a plentiful continental breakfast (cereal, oatmeal, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt, fresh fruit and bread, waffles, English muffins to toast). Gas station and a Taco Bell right across the street and local shops and restaurants a short drive away. I would definitely recommend the Truckee Donner Lodge. The lobby was decorated beautifully for Autumn with a cozy mountain lodge ambiance of pumpkins, sunflowers, etc. The lobby serves as both a comfortable lounge and the breakfast area and also offers a variety of books, etc. for guests to use during their stay.

The hotel is dark and needs updating. That said, it was quiet and comfortable. I had a king room that was just fine. Free wi-fi, cable tv, clean bathroom, vending machines with snacks and drinks. The pool was clean but could have used more chairs. In a good location, right next door to a busy coffee shop serving breakfasts and lunches. Short walk to Donner monument and lake beach. Front desk open 24 hours.

Staff is ok! Place is average! Right by the road, noisy!

Convenient for skiing and easy check-in/out even if arriving late.

Perfect location for Donner Lake and Truckee!

Proximity to highway was not an issue. The hotel is very close to China Cove/Donner Lake and easy to walk to!

The place is nice and quiet with an entry way to Donner State Park.

This was the perfect place for a quick ski weekend. I definitely want to come back! It wasn’t the newest or fanciest but there was a cute fireplace in the lobby, everything felt clean and comfortable. The latte machine was exactly what I needed, and if it had been colder I definitely would’ve gone in the hot tub. Close to downtown Truckee and Palisades. For my budget it was 5 stars!

Everything was very nice at this property except for the breakfast. Terrible pre mix packaged eggs, chemical flavoring coffee and other beverages from a machine. Nothing healthy but the water dispenser which is very nice.

Truckee Donner Lodge is a good place to stay if you are coming in this area fir skiing Breakfast choices are limited and bf area is small. Rooms are comfortable and staff is friendly

Breakfast bar was nice, but NO COFFEE. I mean - what’s the point of offering a decent breakfast if you don’t have coffee. Fail.
