Best Western Plus Truckee-Tahoe Hotel

Very expensive for what you get. Beware of hidden charges -- they tried to impose a daily parking fee but it was not disclosed when I made the reservation. The pool and spa were also closed and they did not disclose that when I reserved.

So disappointed in this best western. I’ve stayed at many and chose to pay more to stay here as opposed to other spots in town for this best western “plus” because of the hot tub/pool area and fire pits and it was all off limits. No reduced room fee, despite not being able to use any of these amenities. Our room was missing a hair dryer which was very inconvenient. You could hear every step from the room above all night, toilet barely flushed, bathroom door handle was so difficult to use. Overall the worst best western I’ve stayed in when it’s advertised as a nicer one. Good location to downtown Truckee.

Probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever seen. Yogurt option could be better, though. Rooms were nicely equipped with microwave and refrigerator. Pool/hot tub/courtyard are all really nice. Staff was courteous and helpful! I would stay here again!

I LOVED the hot tub. Big enough to not play footsie with your neighbor. Never seen such a big hot tub. Great breakfast and service. Ben at check in was great. Also aporeciated the variety of snacks and drinks and other goodies at the little gift shop. Room was adequate but outdated. But for the price, definitely worth the value.

Jacuzzi doesn’t work. Fire pit doesn’t work.

Car brokedown late Sunday, had to stay somewhere overnight. Looked up nearby hotels with a hot tub, both of us had sore legs from walking a lot the day before. Found Best Western, price a little high, but we needed the hot tub and rest. We ubered to the hotel and inquired about room rates, about $20 more if we just bought the room from the desk. I went on Expedia searched the hotel and reserved a room. As we were chceking in, I asked about the hot tub hours, and made plans accordingly. Hot Tub closes 10pm, but they start closing 9:45pm, so I decided nap then 9pm hot tub. Only need 20 minutes or so. But at 9pm, the cover was over the hot tub, so I went to the desk. The same nice lady was there. She was sorry to infom me that the hot tub is under maintenance and will not be available tonight or tomorrow. WHAT?! Geez. I would have ubered to the next hotel with a working hot tub. Not fair. Why tell me one thing at 6pm and something totally different at 9pm, when you already knew I was planning 9pm? Oooooo. I was SO UNHAPPY. When we checked in, she was like, let me put you here because it is quieter. I was like, good, I could use quiet. Did not count on the traffic noise from the parking lot and street/highway. Needed the window open a little for fresh air. Scent was nice, but made my sinuses react until I opened the window. Bed and pillows were nice. Breakfast was nice. Staff was friendly, but not helpful, and really upset me with the mis-information. Breakfast closes early, 10a

Workers were pleasant and helpful and excellent. Sound proofing to the hallway could be better. Loved the pool and hot tub even though they are outside.

Arrived around 8:15PM to check in and found a note that the desk attendant would return in about 16 minutes. Seriously?!? After the attendant arrived, we were informed that we would be charged $9.99/night for parking. We have never paid for parking at any of the several other hotels we have used in Truckee and vicinity. It was irritating that Hotels.com did not highlight the parking fee in its description of the hotel.

GREAT breakfast with REAL food, sausage links, taters, eggs, biscuits and gravy today, waffle station, great beverage selection! Easy parking, convenient location, pool and hot tub all year round??!!??!!

The place is in a dire need of renovation. The carpets haven't been changed since the Tahoe Olympics. There was a part of ceiling falling off in the hallway and the hot tub was not working for the duration of our stay (main reason we opted for the place). That said, ALL the staff was AMAZING - super helpful, extremely polite, professional, and pleasant to be around. They are keeping everything as clean as possible but you can't vacuum a 50 yo carpet or a super noisy A/C from the Eisenhower era. The breakfast area is very clean, the breakfast is totally OK, and there is a variety of coffee machines. So this review is negative exclusively towards the owners of the hotel, and super positive about the people who work there.

Over all, room was clean, staff was friendly, cleaning staff was friendly, maintenance man was prompt in fixing door lock, clogged bathroom sink, and exhaust fan in the bathroom that would not turn off. Room had very strong odor of mildew , we had to go buy a can of Lysol to disinfect the room.

Room smelled of smoke. We were given another room….no smoke but very musty.

Well this was a first! Both beds had stained bedding!!! Stains!!! Blood and what looks like maybe pee? . So this tells me the sheets are not washed!!! I am beyond DISGUSTED! Blood on the comforter and a huge yellow stain on the bottom fitted sheet. The blood stain looks old! When was the last time someone stayed in this room!? I have pictures so I will be reporting this to corporate. The building smelled dirty and musky. The shower handle barley moved so it was hard to turn the water on to shower. We had someone outside the next morning vomiting. Seems like there are homeless roaming the area. I expect to receive a refund as this just made me very uncomfortable knowing that I was not staying in a clean place. We checked in at 9pm so it was too late to complain or go stay somewhere else. Shame on the housekeeping that works at this facility. Are the pillows even clean?! Have the pillow cases been washed!? I always stay at Best Western because they are usually clean, comfortable and affordable for a quick one night stay. I hope management reaches out to me for a refund and an apology. I also hope they speak to housekeeping and question that person who was responsible for cleaning our room.

Everything was clean and well kept. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was very good.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The staff and service were so accommodating. The food was good and coffee/ cocoa/ tea were always available. The kitchen staff brought us things we needed when asked. The room was clean, roomy and the bed was very comfortable.

Hairball from prior occupant in middle of shower. That doesn’t sound like a clean room, does it?

Room was not ready when arrived an hour and 15 minutes after check in. We had to wait another 20 minutes. Food was left in room from previous customer. Phone to call front desk didn't work. For the price property lacking. Desk clerk was in their phone often.

Bed too soft,refrigerator noisy

Rooms were nice, breakfast is the best breakfast i've ever had in a regular hotel. Breakfast burritos, eggs, waffles, cereal, etc. However, the downside is that the cafe is really small so it's impossible to find seating. But they let you take the food upstairs to the room. The rooms are fine. my only complain is they have those sheer curtains so it gets bright in the morning. It's really close to donner and sugarbowl so it's convenient for a ski trip.

Our room didn't have hot water for shower. My family couldn't bath till next day when I asked to change the room to the other side of the building. It might be that the first room was far from the boiler. Bed isn't comfortable, it has a pad filled with feather that was poking my son. We had to remove the top pad and clean the feather from the bed. Breakfast is good, ample parking, quite place.

You get exactly what you pay for. Great size room, clean and the breakfast was great. Across the street is a shopping center with great restaurants. We ate the sushi at the drunken monkey.

Passable place to sleep. Sparsely furnished. Who picked those goofy lamps - took a while to figure out how to turn them on. Needs more USB ports. Friendly staff. How about a glass for the bathroom instead of a mug from some diner. Great price. Not enough blankets on the beds.

Our room 102 didn't have curtains and was a bit noisy after 10pm. Next time we will ask for another room. The sun came into the room a bit earlier than we wanted. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back. The breakfasts were great. This was our first time to stay here at this hotel.

We were on the first floor. The people above had heavy feet so could hear every time they moved.

Easy check in that can be done in advance of arrival. Requested and was approved for a 2nd floor room during check in, but was still given one on the first floor. Regrettably, I didn’t bother bringing this up since I was so tired. Having said that, I could hear the people above me walking around their room and also hear children running around in the hallways. Fortunately, I didn’t hear much of either between 10pm-6am. Besides the issues with the poor sound insulation on the hallway floors my stay was generally comfortable.

Great location, clean, fresly baked cookies upon chekin, and nice complimentary breakfast. The interior of the hotel and rooms are well used and not as fresh as other best western plus locations. We just came from the Best Western Plus in Carpinteria with newer beds, carpet and bathoom so the location in Tahoe felt dated. Still a decent hotel at an affordable price.

I was very disappointed with the receptionist who tried to open my door in the middle of the night because she thought it was empty. She was extremely rude and told me their team accidentally put my information to a different room. I’m not staying here again.

My recent stay at the Best Western Plus in Truckee was incredibly disappointing and fell far short of the service I've come to expect from the Best Western brand. From the outset, the experience lacked the anticipated level of customer care. We were not offered any assistance with our luggage upon arrival, setting a rather cold tone for our stay. A key amenity, the hot tub, was frequently out of service, with no proactive communication to guests about its status. However, the most significant issue was the consistent failure to provide room cleaning. Despite my repeated attempts to request service by displaying the door card – and even noticing the card had been acknowledged by being flipped over – our room remained untouched. This left me in the position of having to manage my own waste disposal and personally collect fresh towels and toiletries from the front desk. To compound the frustration, when I addressed these ongoing problems with the front desk staff, I was given assurances that the issues would be rectified, but regrettably, no action was taken. This entire experience was well below standard and deeply frustrating.

Wife and I were having a really bad morning/day and Ben went way above and beyond during our check in process. He was the saving grace of our day. Thank you so much.

The staff service is worth the stay. Everyone is so inviting and helpful! But the higest compliments to the breakfast staff!

Check-in at 8pm was the slowest at a BW I’ve ever experienced.

The website says the front desk is closed from 7pm-8pm so I timed my drive from San Francisco accordingly. We arrived at 8:05pm and when we went to the front desk there was a sign saying they were closed until 8:30pm. So we had to sit in our car for 30 min in the parking lot after a 4 hour drive. My card was demagnetized several times during my stay and I had to go to the front desk. The woman at the front desk got annoyed and was unprofessional. She just didn't want to do her job apparently. In the evenings there were teenage boys visiting the young woman at the front desk. They were not guests and she was more focused on socializing than attending to guests. Overall rude and terrible customer service.

Excellent front staff and delicious breakfast!!!

Hotel and room was fine. We checked in around 11:30pm and the guy at the front desk was extremely rude and combative. At one point during our conversation he told me I needed to go to my room and go to bed. If I hadn’t already paid, I would have left.

I always prefer to stay at this hotel when I go to truckee. The staff is super friendly. It's very convenient

Great location, just two minutes from the main part of town and right across the street from several excellent dining options. The person who cleaned the room failed to resupply us with shampoo, but we had our own. Would definitely stay here again.

Great little one day get away with wifey!! Nice there was a cafe walking distance and the river was a 1mile 20 minutes walk away as well. Fished a nearby lake for a couple hours as well.

Convenient location from the ski resorts, nice breakfast

The property is well taken care of, has a nice jacuzzi and heated pool, good breakfast, and helpful front desk. It’s a short drive to old town Truckee, and in a quiet location. I enjoyed my stay.

Stayed during a ski trip, very close to Northstar, the pool and hot tub are outdoors but well heated. Good breakfast.

Everything was as expected. My only complaint was the coffee (decaf) at breakfast was weak.

It had a great morning breakfast. It cost abut $80. For 2 people to eat in this town. That makes a great saving. Worth the price of the room.

Our room was quiet, very clean, with comfortable bed, great water pressure, nice size refrigerator and freezer. The complimentary breakfast included continental items, as well as scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, chorizo burritos, make-your-own waffles, and more. Friendly staff. Conveniently located a few minutes from Northstar. We'll definitely stay again.

This place surprised me on the quality of the room, overall place, convenience to Northstar. The price was also great. If I had stayed longer I would have used the Jacuzzi and the gym which both looked nice. The only downside is that breakfast (hot prep) was just ok. Selection of cold breakfast items was small. I would go out and get your espresso and breakfast elsewhere.
