Baymont by Wyndham Yreka

I was very disappointed by the fact it advertised a pool & spa. I had picked this motel for the indoor pool & spa. The pool was too cold to get into & the spa was empty. As we came back out of pool area host said “Oh too cold. He added someone would be trying to fix soon. He should have told us upon check/in, not after planning our eve around the pool & dressing down.

The age of this hotel is showing. Rooms were clean, except for mold above the shower. Hot tub was colder than the swimming pool, and the hot tub and indoor pool is why we have stayed there in the past. The breakfast was massively scaled down from last year

Bed was comfortable and location is convenient. Staff is helpful and friendly. Ice machine did not work and spa pool were unavailable.

1. No elevator 2. 150 dollar deposit? 3. No ice bucket..why you ask, the one and only ice maker was broken. Wasn’t told that at check-in, ended up having to go back downstairs to ask, because there is no phone room. 4. Light bulbs out in room 5. Pet area not well maintained, maybe because there was no poop bags. 6. No dirty clothes bag 7. Limited breakfast items and NO COFFEE an hour before end of breakfast.

I liked the indoor heated pool. I was on the second floor and would have preferred an elevator to carry up my luggage.

The Ice Machine was broken. Unsafe will all the homeless around. NO SECURITY CAMERAS hooked up. The A/C in the room was falling apart. The bathroom shower wouldn't drain. Very small bathroom. Bedroom Window was disgusting with dirt, dead flies and something on the window on the outside. Homeless people TRIED to BREAK INTO MY CAR TWICE throughout the night. Breakfast is small, not much effort. Key cards stopped working. The hotel used rocks to keep outside doors open if you wanted to get in, and no one would move the rock to close the door when finished. There was a review about this back in DEC 3, 2024 that the hotel said they would fix immediately and never did. Still an issue June 12, 2025. My father was at the pool and they let the homeless in the pool. No manager on-site during the time we were there. Employee was in the back most of the time not watching the front. NOT SATISFACTOTRY and should be CLOSED DOWN unless security and cleaniness is held to the highest of standards.

Back entrance didn’t work with room card. Ice maker inoperative. Staff didn’t offer ice from office. Room had visible dust. Fixture missing lightbulb.

This property has an indoor pool and hot tub that opens till 10pm. Everyone else is outdoor pool and seasonal prohibited. The check in counter staff was friendly but the morning counter staff was not. I stayed on the first floor with a two bed room. It was clean and neat. Overall, it was a good experience. The things that might needed improvement are several door entry key pads needed replacing. I had to walk all the way around front in the evening to get entry. Plus, there's the out of order ice machine.

Very nice hotel. Clean. Nice selection of breakfast options. Crystal clear swimming pool. Comfortable beds. Only issue: All key card entrances were broken with hanging wires. One entrance only, main entrance. Inconvenient especially when traveling with a disabled person.

really big room – great bargain, bed was super comfortable. Coffee in room/happy to have it but super inferior quality. Front desk staff was great. Hallway carpets gross and caked with dirt- gives the impression its a muxh lower rated property

The staff were friendly. The room and pool were great. The shower could have been cleaned better (there was a bunch of hairs on the back of it) but sometimes hair is a pain in the butt to clean out of showers and bathtubs so I wasn't mad about it. The comfiest and cleanest hotel I stayed at on my trip.

When I pulled back the sheet the under layer was not clean. I was moved to a different room and the front desk staff was kind and provided me with additional sheets to put over bed and pillows Very kind staff at front desk and fresh coffee made

Rooms could be a lot cleaner., for the price Homeless camp next door. Slept fine but other hotels in town might be better. Needs remodel.

The property from first appearance’s seemed clean and well kept, but the room had hair in the bathroom and floor was still pretty dirty. The staff was pretty friendly, but upon us checking in forgot to tell us

The property is under renovation so that was to be expected. There is no elevators so you have to lug your suitcases up a long steep flight of stairs. All of the bottom floor was sold out. I will say the room didn’t stink. The bedding was clean and the beds were pretty comfortable. Now for the bathroom. Absolutely filthy! The floor hasn’t been swept or mopped in what look likes months. Hair, dead bugs, dirt, fuzz etc in all of the corners. The toilet hasn’t been cleaned in a couple weeks it looks like. Hair, pee and lint on the back rim and moldy rings in toilet. The shower had a clean curtain but hairs everywhere and dark smudges. It was late and i really needed a shower before bed so I tried to just soap and clean and not look around. When I grabbed the towel to dry, it was small, thin and had black stains all over it. Ugh. The towel just smeared water around on me and I was horrified to find that it also smeared and stuck long black hairs on my skin. I had to leak them off. Felt sick. Now we couldn’t brush our teeth because the faucet sprayed a massive amount of water out the back promptly flooding the counter. We managed to catch a few hours of sleep because the beds were clean.

Carpet was not vacuummed in room. No hand soap and body wash container was empty. Hot tub water was luke warm.

While your reception was very good and professional, we were not happy with quite a few things. 1) Your side door was a nuisance since the electronic keypad was busted, and it seems like your receptionist didn't know about this. He directed us to drive to an entrance that was not functional at all. We do not blame him, but Baymont needs to fix that, so not to make guests play the guessing game when trying to gain entry to their room. 2) Your bathtub took a thousand years to drain, and the only way around this is to not use the faucet below. Just use the shower and you would have no problem. 3) The headboard on your beds were dusty, and it looks like you have not cleaned it in a while. 4) There were traces of trash not cleaned up in the room. 5) Your electrical outlets did not work well at all! We were not able to use the bedside lamps, and had to use whatever lights were still on. 6) No ice machine? Ice machine broken and only one ice machine available??? Come now, Baymont! You could do better! We would never stay here again, but one thing we would like to note is that management and reception are excellent here. Katie the manager was very polite, professional. So was the gentleman who checked us in. It is the facility condition that we had issues with.

This was terrible there was broken lamps in the room with wires exposed , ac clunked when ran it smelled terrible in the back entrance like a dead animal where our room was located . Hall was was disgusting . over all was one of the worst places I’ve experienced. The transient population was allowed to hang out directly outside the pool, a woman exposed herself to my children. It was absolutely terrible absolutely terrible.

I was not happy about the Bath not having a flat counter to even put your shaving needs and tooth brush on. Just a sink stuck on the wall, a toilet and the handicap bars used as a towel rack as there weren't any racks for the towels. The timer knob in the bathroom was gone so that was unuseable. The bedside lamp was inop until I found it was unplugged. There was crap under the desk and it makes a person wonder if the room was even sweep.

The person at the front desk was helpful but not very friendly. I know he was training someone but the trainer wasn't really watching. Also, when we were finally given out keys, walking down the hall to our room, every room had their laundry piled up on the hallway. The "breakfast" was very limited. The bathroom reminded me of a rest stop. Single sink so nowhere to put our belongings. Great that it is dog friendly but no true place to take potty. The TV kept going out on us too. Unless, this hotel is truly updated, we will not return/

Good room.

When I think Wyndham, I think a little more high end than this property. It looks as if it were recently bought and flipped, giving it a “lipstick on a pig” appearance. The lobby was clean and the breakfast offered was nice. The pool was in use and but looked a bit cloudy. The first room we were offered - two double beds - smelled funny, like it had been smoked in. The toilet also would not flush even with the handle down. We were offered another room and it smelled faintly of bleach (still unappealing) but expected. I did appreciate the bedbug protection cover over the mattress, microwave in room (even though we did not use), and a the larger sized in-room fridge. The shower insert was dated but not cracked. The paint job sloppy and the silicone sealant moldy. There also was no operational fan in the bathroom. Overall 5/10. Not the worst I have ever stayed at, but the experience does not match the Wyndham name, even for an off branch. As a side, the staff were lovely.

The rooms are too dark, more lighting

Appearance was terrible. I understand that it is under renovations but it is embarrassing to see the current condition. The pool it self was nasty looking and the hot tub smelled like garbage water. The room had luckily been “recently renovated”. It wasn’t up to what we have come to expect from a Wyndham hotel at all (at least the room wasn’t a total mess like the rest of the hotel) but the air conditioning did not work in our room and it was 95-degrees outside. The guy at the counter was less than accommodating, even though the place was practically empty. The parking lot felt very unsafe as there is a very large homeless encampment adjacent to the property (I know there is not much that the property can do about it). Been that we are VIP owners at the Wyndham resorts/travel club we know the brand. I have also stayed in many of the properties on the hotel side of it and I understand that I can’t expect the same as a resort but this place was disappointing. I only hope that the quality of work in the renovations improve for the rest of the property as this renovations will most likely increase the nightly stay prices but the quality of work is just subpar. I know as I am a general contractor and I know about delivering quality work even if the quality of the materials and/or furniture being used is poor. You still have to show your skills and professionalism when performing this type of renovations. They have reconsider who deals with performing this improvements.

The suite was smaller than a regular room elsewhere, fixtures and furniture were very old, back outside door wouldn’t lock so anybody could come inside the hotel, front desk check in was friendly but not helpful, checkout person was very unfriendly.

This is an older facility and housekeeping does a good job of keeping the rooms clean. The beds were comfortable and rooms were quiet. Only concern was that all the back doors were propped open overnight with rocks.

The hotel is easy to locate, although being behind a Motel 6 dies confuse my GPS. The desk staff was professional, quick and helpful. The room was large, had a desk and chair of a usable height, and the bed was comfortable. It was quiet. I had inadvertently reserved the handicap accessible room. It was interesting to see how it had been adapted for someone with mobility issues. As a mobile senior, i only lacked shelf 9r counter space for items. I opened the ironing board (located in the bathroom) and used it as a staging area for my bathroom items. Also, there were multiple handrails and a shower seat, but a vertical handrail at the sides of the tub would've helped me get in and out of the high tub sides. The tub bottom was a bit slippery. And the toilet paper was the thinnest and most tissue paper like I've ever experienced in a hotel! Overall, good place for a solo female traveler for one night.

During checkout, we went up to the front desk and were not acknowledged. We stood there for a few minutes and we were not spoken to, even though we were the only people at the desk. Our room had loose nails and a missing lock. There were bugs in the bathtub as well.

The staff at night, Leah, was excellent. She was kind and took care of our needs so well.

Evening desk clerk got me out of bed to ask if I had checked in yet. I had checked in around 3 in the afternoon the day before. He said I would have to bring a card to the front desk, for incidentals, asap. I told him, if the day clerk didn't do their job that was not my problem. He was very belligerent, and I finally told him I would go to the front desk in the morning. This whole experience on top of the upgrade, that's going on two years now, and the unobstructed view of the homeless tent city a half block away, has soured me on the Baymont. Too bad, used to be a nice place. After 8 stays with them I guess its time for Holiday Inn, or Best Western next year. Maybe the government will subsidies putting homeless people in the Baymont, just like the Motel 6 next door.

The staff was friendly. The room was nice. The only problem we had was access to the building and the room by using their room card which was difficult to work.

Although I paid for the rooms through Expedia, we were still charged by the hotel and it took a few days to have it reversed. Huge homeless encampment right behind the hotel on the hill, occasionally some would be walking around the hotel parking lot (one swinging around a bat), which was unnerving since I had to walk my dogs.

Friendly staff.

The stay here was the worst i have ever had at any hotel I have stayed at. First upon check in they could not get key card mechanism to work so I could get keys. They used a master key to open my room and i did not receive my keys until an hour later. When i was about to go to bed, i pulled the covers and some kind of bug popped out. Went to ask for cancellation from front desk and they said they had to wait for manager. I waited for around 45 mins and stressed that I need to find another hotel so i can get some sleep but still no manager. I ended up just asking for another room and stayed because it seemed i had no other options. No discount offered for inconvenience. Nothing.

Location is best in Yreka for travelers Restaurant, gas and coffee all right there.

If you dont mind staying next to a large homeless encampment youll like it hear! Also, the tub wouldnt drain without manually holding the stopper up, there were several areas of the floor that had significant "bumps" that were tripping hazards. Like they laid the flooring over something and didnt care. The breakfast was bout nothing. The lock on the door was one of those outdated chain locks and the screws had come loose from the sheetrock at some point and was barely fixed, didnt feel safe. Upon check in i was told my cc would be charged a "small" fee for incidentals: i was charged $1 THEN a $150 charge showed up! They claim it was a "deposit". They never mentioned a deposit. This is after i paid $399.87 for the room on Hotels.com. They also claimed theyrefunded the $150 the day after i left. I left Sunday, this is now Wednesday and they still have my money!! Ive never been charged a deposit when i make reservations on hotels.com. How do i get my $150 back???????

Clean, quiet, good location and reasonably priced.

Don’t believe the photos. Right out our window a block away was a huge homeless compound. The grounds were not well kept and there was no where for our dog to do her business. The only access to the interior was the front door as the back and side doors had no key scans. Our room only had the dead bolt as the chain lock was broken. The water in the sink would barely drain. There was no ice available as their ice maker was broken. Breakfast was a joke. Not even coffee available, only tea. There was almost nothing to eat. It was pretty noisy until late at night as halls were busy and doors were slamming. The indoor pool did look nice and was busy with families.

There’s a homeless encampment right next to property.

It was suitable for a one night stay when having an event like football game in area. Did not care for the homeless walking by. The Black Bear restaurant and a store in walking distance was nice to have.

The room was very nice, comfortable, clean, and quiet. Staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was good. The locked mental health center behind the building is very visible , I am a psychiatric NP so I was fine w that but other people might feel more calm not seeing that. But more intensely was the nearby fairly large homeless camp. I saw the police checking it and there were porta-potties, for them which tells me the community is trying to help them, that is good. But people get nervous near homeless camps,. I'm not sure what you can do about that. The back parking lot had some construction materials which maybe could be moved. You really try to do a good job for the customers and it shows. I also appreciated that I could bring my dogs here at a very reasonable rate. Your pool and sauna area was very attractive. Your receptionist said he checked the doors on the camera at night, I had not asked, but that was nice. I recently stayed at a very expensive hotel in San Diego, paid for parking there, three of my four tires were badly slashed and they did not express much care, all they did was re-imburse the parking fees, they did not attempt to help at all, that gave me a very different feeling about them compared to your less expensive hotel in a small unassuming town. There was no coffee or any breakfast stuff at 930am

No elevator and limited to poor breakfast offerings.

Breakfast wasn't as advertised. No milk, no cereal. Only bagels and muffins, 2 fruits, 2 juices, cottage cheese and peach cups.Knives weren't available for spreading anything on bagals, woman at front desk said to use back of our spoons. I was also told that there's no more breakfast person position so there's going to be no more breakfasts as theres been in the past at this property. The back door was propped opened by a rock all night, and this meant the building was unsecured and anyone could come in. I wonder if the maintenance position was also deleted by this property. The room was clean. I won't be back and I'm dissapointed with this Wyndham property.

It was ok, breakfast was ok*, compared to Best Western, it would rate as bad. Location was good, and the area was tranquil. Keys are very sensitive to demagnetization. Had to have them redone twice.

The AC was filthy and my daughter cleaned it. The hotel was completely out of ice. The breakfast was lacking. Very disappointing!

I got stuck in the weather and they had a room available. Quick stay, comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast was just cereal toast and yogurt but good enough. Very nice staff.
