Pros: breakfast was great (hot buffet w/custom omelettes!), rooms were clean, beds were decent, area had a lot of shopping and dining options within walking distance, heated pool was nice, atmosphere of the lobby/pool was relaxing. Cons: shower temperature was luke-warm on the highest heat, indoor pool was WAY too dark at night (one tiny pool light and no deck lighting, couldn’t see under the water at all, not good for kid’s pool safety), elevator was not working so concrete staircase was the only way up/down.

The omelet station is great. There needs to be more lighting in the dining area though... very dark. The fitness center is good although I wish it opened before 5:30 am. I appreciate a Kurig in the room. I have stayed at the Academy Hotel a few times and will continue to book there when in Colorado Springs for business.

Room’s bathroom was not clean. Despite a noon checkout time, housekeeper knocked on door at 8:30 am to clean the room before we had checked out. I said, NO, we’re still here. 3 minutes later when I was in the bathroom she said, house keeping and entered the room with her key, before we could get to the door or say no! That’s awful!

The location was nice, and the gentleman who checked me in when I arrived was super friendly and helpful. He said he was new and tbh he was the nicest employee I ran into there. However. The room was not the cleanest. I had a pet friendly room and you could plainly see the room was not swept, there was dirt and dog hair all over. The bathroom was a bit out dated and again, not the cleanest. There was hair and dirt on the floor in there as well. The desk chair had nasty looking stains on it and hair embedded on the seat. But I was tired after driving 13 hrs and just wanted to sleep. The nice man who checked me in had said to check with the front desk in the morning because an early checkout could get me a discount. Which some hotels offer. When I checked out at 5:35 am and mentioned this to the morning clerk he told me he had never heard of such a thing. He said he would ask his manager and get back to me. No one ever called me and he didn’t even include a note for it at least that he followed up on my invoice that I requested an email of.

Lady smoking cigarettes at front door, smoking going inside hotel, smelt like casino. Floor in bar area sticky. Pool nice and game area but the cleaner smell and cigarettes gave me a headache. Room was nice bedding and bathroom but smelt moldy. People across from us couldn't get into there room. Front desk guy was even uncomfortable with the cigarettes smell. Highly suggest a smoking area and not at the front entrance.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Never hesitate to ask someone for anything. We did have ants but they sent someone to spray as soon as we told them. Breakfast was great but checking in for it was a little annoying. No one who doesn’t stay there is going to go there and pretend. Be sure to get to breakfast early as a lot of items are set out and once they run out, that’s it. The fresh fruit bowl is cut up fruit until it’s gone and then it’s apples and oranges. They could have cleaned up the breakfast area a lot more often but they were great about clearing our plates and making sure tables were clean. It’s very weird that the tables outside the restaurant could not be used past a certain time. We wanted to play card games and could not. It’s very dark in the atrium once the sun goes down.

Even though this is a slightly older hotel, we enjoy staying here. The breakfast buffet alone is worth the stay. The only problem with the room is the bathroom. It’s really small and cramped. The shower head is small and not as nice as most places. They only give you one small bottle of body wash which is one person’s worth. So be sure to ask for more if you have more showering. The bed was very comfortable and the room was nice and clean. We would recommend this place to anyone. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly too.

Overall, our stay was ok. We were on the 4th floor with a mountain view. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the water in the shower was hot. Our issues were down to a clogged sink, a subpar microwave, you could hear everything through the walls (including the highway), and an endless stream of a young adult track team running up and down the hallway - for hours on end. We called to complain, but yet it went on and on. My car was also hit in the parking lot (hit and run). Breakfast was ok, but did not live up to the hype based on other reviews.

Inside the lobby area is very nice and somewhat charming. Staff was friendly and helpful. We got there way before check-in time, but they did get us a room when it was ready. The room however, and the halls, there was a smell, idk if it's mildew or just the fact that the hotel is old and rundown. The elevator was not working, apparently due to one of the top floors flooding. The ice machine also didn't work, but ice was available at the front desk. The AC was like a window unit, and was constantly turning on and off, but not maintaining the temp, so we had to adjust it to run constantly. The room itself was clean. The bathroom is pretty small, and while showering the water starts gathering and filling the tub which is a huge ick for me. This was my 2nd time staying here. The location itself was excellent, as far as restaurants and stores, so Academy Blvd was good, but this is probably my last time staying at this hotel.

We stayed two nights during our 6000 mile road trip and this is our favorite hotel. The breakfast was amazing with a buffet and made to order omlets. Every staff we encountered were professional, friendly and helpful. I left an important item in my room after I checked out and they alerted me by phone!

The location of Academy Hotel is super convenient and surrounded by great restaurants and shopping. It's literally right off the highway but there's no traffic noise which is excellent! The good news (but potentially bad news if you have allergies) is that they're pet friendly. I made the mistake of not requesting a room that did not previously have pets in it and had a bad allergic reaction in the room I took. The rooms are older but super clean and there is no smoke smell (which tends to be the case with older properties). Morning breakfast is outstanding! And the staff was really excellent.

I love that this doesn't feel like every other hotel. It is comfy and warm and the atmosphere is just different! The staff is amazing, responsive and seem to be just the happiest, working people I have encountered in a long time. On top of everything else the breakfast was delicious.
