The staff was wonderful, the room was perfect, location couldn’t be better! Loved the accommodations: pool, fireplace in lobby, deck with fire pit tables, free water / coffee / tea / hot chocolate! We will be back!

Great customer service from Tripp and the management team. If arriving late at night make sure your details are sorted in advance. Room was comfortable. Parking is easy. Great mountain view. Coffee available all day Breakfast is somewhat limited, good cold items, not much hot food. Great common area with games, arcade, laundry.

The property was till undesome construction and there was some bad sheetrock work in one of our rooms, but overall the place was clean and staff was friendly. We were not a fan of the continental breakfast. Need to add normal breakfast hot food like eggs and bacon. Not just elk chilli for breakfast. Game room and pool were nice clean and fun. Would stay again.

Great stay. The only thing we weren’t a huge fan of is the pool being advertised as a heated pool and it was said to be kept warm but the water was lukewarm . The window in the pool area was left open by staff both times we attempted to swim so the room for the pool was very cold as snow would blow in when the wind blew and the temperatures were freezing outside leaving the room for the pool very cold. Not comfortable for the kids or adults to enjoy the pool comfortably. This was the primary attraction my kids were looking forward to, but the water was far cooler than a normal heated pool and the room for the pool being kept very cold from the outside weather being let it, only allowing the kids 5-10 minutes of the pool time before being left cold and shivering .

I felt the room was comfortable and clean. However, I felt like the breakfast could have been a little better. Also, it was difficult to get our luggage to the second floor. We never found an easy way to use the elevator without having to still carry our luggage up/down some stairs. Fortunately, a staff member saw our dilemma and carried our bags down the stairs for us. Weird!

The Expedition Lodge is very quirky and different, but in a good way! Definitely not a cookie cutter chain hotel...and you should like stairs, lol. The lodge seems to be built on a hill and there are several short sets of stairs in all directions from the lobby. There is an elevator that will bring you to some of the rooms, though. Front desk staff were very friendly and efficient, and provided suggestions on our RMNP itinerary. The lodge had THE MOST unique breakfast I've ever experienced where you could opt for breakfast or lunch-type options. They are renovating certain areas, too. We were very happy with our stay!

Our room needs updating, especially the bathroom. It was dirty, there was a used Q- tip on the floor and crusty grime in the corners that you couldn't ignore. Our room was on the ground floor and the person above us decided to clomp around and take a shower at 3:00am on both nights we were there! The water pipes were so loud, you couldn't sleep while the upstairs shower was going. It woke us up. Drain stopper in the bathroom sink was missing with gross hair and slimy gunk showing. For the high price we paid per night, we will not return to this hotel.

The first room I was given was not clean (even though it was supposedly cleaned)! The employee gave me another room across he hall. He came with me to the room as I looked it over. I told him it was better, and it was. That said, the longer I was in there, it just didn't feel clean. I washed my hands and it felt like there was something on the bathroom counter. I wet a washcloth and wiped it, and the washcloth did not stay white. Again, this was a "clean" room. There were hairs in the shower, on the toilet, and sink ( and they didn't belong to me). The TV console didn't look like it had been wiped. The chair really needed vacuumed. While none of this was major, it was enough to not make me feel confident in the cleanliness. I ended up purchasing cleaning supplies and cleaned the room myself. I did not speak to management, but I did respond to Expedia's inquiry of the room and the message said it would be sent to property management (in which I did offer to provide proof if they wanted to reach out, but didn't hear from anyone). I did not receive housekeeping services while I was there. All of that said, I felt the bed was clean and it was bug free. The shower had great pressure. This is an older facility and it doesn't have lights in the rooms, except for lamps, and the room does get dark at night even with all the lamps on. Also, there are 1/2 flights of steps everywhere and places elevators can't get you to. So, pack lightly. LOL.

HORRID! The room was dirty, the lighting was horrible, the floors were dirty, the bathroom was rusted and dirty. The toilet seat didnt even fit the toilet. There was no stopper in the sink. The towels were frayed. The was no extra blanket,there was only one nightstand for two beds. No USB ports. We asked for a 1st floor room, but there were still stairs! The bar of soap belonged to Barbie. The rails, to hold items in on the refrigerator door were broken and/or missing. I don't know how in the world this toilet got an 8.5 star rating. The room was the quality of a Motel 6. It wasn't worth $85 for 2 nights, nevermind $468!!!

After we asked to move after sta6the first night in a room that clearly hadn't been cleaned it was ok. I might stay again if the price was right and the other hotels around were not available, but they need to refresh the property. Our second room had a cracked shower, and the first room had a toilet seat that would not stay up as well as hair and pee aroind the toilet, shower caulking was discolored, hair balls under the sink cabinet, floor sticky, hallways are dirty and painting is something to be desired as a 5 year old could do what they have done in places. Breakfast was interesting but ok.

We checked out after one night, but had paid for 3. Too bad they didn't work with us on a refund. Now they get an online review.

My wife and I stayed one night at Expedition Lodge for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The building has an older charm but is well maintained. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the bed was excellent — one of my top priorities when traveling. The mattress was firm yet soft, with no sagging or worn spots. Breakfast was different from what I’m used to but pleasantly surprising. I usually expect bacon, eggs, and biscuits and gravy, but this lodge offered creative local options like “Build Your Own Estes Park Deviled Eggs” and “Elk Jerky Green Chili.” I wasn’t brave enough to try the deviled eggs (which I now regret), but the chili was fantastic! I’ve never had chili for breakfast, but I loved it, especially topped with a little shredded cheese. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We arrived from Denver much earlier than planned after an early flight and reached the lodge around 11 a.m. I didn’t expect our room to be ready, but to my surprise, it was available, and they kindly allowed an early check-in — a lifesaver after being up since 1 a.m.! Thank you, Expedition Lodge, for helping make our anniversary getaway so memorable!

Horribly dirty!!! The room we were supposed to stay in had spiders, spider webs, and bugs all over!!!!! It was so nasty. We checked right back out!! We were the 5th set of individuals within a 10 minute time period to check back out due to filth!!!!!!!!

Spacious room but outdated; you can hear everything outside the room. Housekeeping came at 8 AM for our 1-night stay and were very loud right outside our room. Expecting a great breakfast there were no eggs expcept some hard boiled and the elk chili was cold, really did not have any elk meat, and I got sick 2 hours later. The bathroom had some upgrades, but it was half done. This place needs a renovation.

Stayed for 4 nights in August of 2025. Room was very clean. Only gripe is that AC unit read dirty filter and shower was problematic. The shower temperature kept changing while I was showering-going from lukewarm to scorching hot. The showerhead was really low too. I'm 5'8" and hate to imagine what it would be like for someone who is actually tall. I was on the 1st floor and still had to navigate 10 steps to get to my room so that may be a challenge for someone with mobility issues. Most rooms are interior. There are a few that you can just park outside of. I did not use the free breakfast so I can't comment on that. I didn't use the indoor pool but it looked nice. The motel is located on the edge of town but still a short drive to the Beaver Meadows entrance of the park. Next time I would stay somewhere where I could park outside of the door. There are so many places to choose from in Estes Park and many have that feature with hopefully a better shower.

Check in was good. Room was clean. Beds comfy. BUT…the walls are thin, and our room connected to marijuana smokers so our room smelled horrible! We stuck towels under the doors. This is a no smoking hotel. Thank goodness the a/c had a loud fan that stayed on so it muffled the sounds from next door. Breakfast is interesting with basic breads, cereals, yogurt, and then there’s the Elk green chili with toppings like onion, peppers, etc. The staff paid close attention to cleanliness and made the place so neat and clean. So…do I recommend this hotel? Sure. It’s about as cheap as you can get for the area. The three of us managed well!

My wife and I stayed one night at Expedition Lodge for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The building has an older charm but is well maintained. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the bed was excellent — one of my top priorities when traveling. The mattress was firm yet soft, with no sagging or worn spots. Breakfast was different from what I’m used to but pleasantly surprising. I usually expect bacon, eggs, and biscuits and gravy, but this lodge offered creative local options like “Build Your Own Estes Park Deviled Eggs” and “Elk Jerky Green Chili.” I wasn’t brave enough to try the deviled eggs (which I now regret), but the chili was fantastic! I’ve never had chili for breakfast, but I loved it, especially topped with a little shredded cheese. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We arrived from Denver much earlier than planned after an early flight and reached the lodge around 11 a.m. I didn’t expect our room to be ready, but to my surprise, it was available, and they kindly allowed an early check-in — a lifesaver after being up since 1 a.m.! Our room was on the remodeled side. Comfy bed, clean room, nice modern bathroom but a bit tight. For me, no problem for bigger folks, maybe too small. Quiet. Desk CSRs very friendly & helpful. Volunteered to come to room to fix TV connection. Breakfast was okay. Conveniently located & plenty of parking. Nice covered patio on 2nd floor with a great view. Would come again.

I stayed two separate nights, before and after my backpacking trip. The first night was great! Friendly service, room seem to be remodeled, most comfortable bed and sheets ever! Great experience. When I came back to stay a second night, the woman working set me to a room that already had people in it. When I went back down to figure out the mixup, she didn’t even apologize or acknowledge me. She gave me room 251 and it was supposed to be 215. When I finally got back to my room after hauling my stuff twice down and up stairs, it was less than stellar. The bathroom was not updated. The entire faucet handle comes off in your hand. There was an old school blow dryer holder on the wall but no blow dryer. Neighbors behind the headboard were extremely loud. Bed was still very comfortable and amazingly soft sheets. I recommend trying to get a remodeled room if you stay here. Hopefully they start upgrading all rooms soon. The breakfast spread is pretty great!

Water pressure in the shower was very good. Large variety of food for breakfast. That's the end of the positive. My room was very dark unless curtains open. No housekeeping. My room ran out of kleenex, toilet paper, coffee pads, washcloths. Trash overflowed. Dirty towels piled up on bathroom floor. Female front desk clerk was RUDE. Should not be working in the hospitality industry. Male front desk clerk promised a night's refund, then rescinded. Hotel manager did refund one night's stay to me. Also, be aware that if you do not have a vehicle, there is nothing around. Female desk clerk informed me of free trolley service which unfortunately stopped service the week before. There is a pool, I did not use it.

Staff was super friendly and accommodating throughout the stay. Hotel is dated but kept very clean. The outdoor deck was awesome with an amazing view. Breakfast was non traditional but had everything needed to fuel our adventures for the day. Would definitely stay here again!

Person at the front desk was on a personal call the ENTIRE time he checked us in! The elevator was super tiny and scary! Thank goodness only had to take it to the 2nd floor! The bathroom floor and shower were horrible!

Great customer service from Tripp and the management team. If arriving late at night make sure your details are sorted in advance. Room was comfortable. Parking is easy. Great mountain view. Coffee available all day Breakfast is somewhat limited, good cold items, not much hot food. Great common area with games, arcade, laundry.

Our front desk check-in attendant was amazing. Unfortunately, we did end up needing maintenance for a "small" issue and they were nothing short of fantastic. So nice and accommodating. We made last minute reservations and were granted an adjoining room to meet our family needs. The accommodations were great...from pool to game room to lounge area. Would highly recommend...especially if wanting to stay in a non-chain type hotel.

I would definitely recommend the Expedition Lodge! This hotel was very comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. There was a bit of a complication with check-in due to some miscommunication between the lodge and Hotels.com, but the staff at Expedition Lodge were very diligent about researching the issue and they resolved it quickly. The place looked a little older, but it was very clean and the beds were super comfortable! After we checked out, we realized we had left something behind. Unfortunately, by the time we realized it, a new guest had checked in the room and our missing item was not in lost-and-found. The staff found our item the next day, called us, and is mailing it to us! I travel a lot and have, unfortunately, forgotten items in other hotels and never received any communication about my missing items from any other hotel. So, the fact that they called us and are returning it to us is a big deal and shows their excellent customer service.

The property is very old and rundown. They seemed to be short handed on staff. The night we arrived we had to wait for approximately 20 minutes maybe more for someone to come to the front desk and there was a sign with a note that said “we are currently helping another guest and will return shortly” which I find unacceptable in the hospitality business. When you’ve been traveling all day and are ready to settle in but have to wait that long to be checked in

We stayed here during our visit to Rocky Mountain National Park. Check-in was easy and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms were clean and spacious, and we were pleasantly surprised that the room had a microwave. The hotel is about a 15 minute drive from the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park and very convenient to the main street of Estes Park, including Safeway and gas stations. It also has a very beautiful view of Lake Estes and the surrounding mountains.

Located not far from town and having a great view of the mountains, this hotel was very satisfying to stay at. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was not too bad, could have more variety than chili, cereal, deviled eggs, oatmeal, frozen waffles and bread. I always like having scrambled eggs and bacon when I’m on the road. Our room was on the first floor and had access to the parking lot from our room, which made it convenient to unload our luggage from the truck to the room. Along with another door to the hallway, it was a short walk to the main lobby. I did love they have an arcade in house and had a variety of games and board games. Highly recommend.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Expedition Lodge for 5 nights. We were pleased with all the friendly staff, condition of room, and even the included Breakfast each morning was fantastic! So many unique options to eat and drink - and lots of room/ seating. The location is close and easy to get to downtown Estes Park area, but just perfectly on the outskirts to not feel crowded/ congested. It's also minutes to either the Fall River Entrance or the Beaver Meadows entrance to the park. We stayed in a 2 Queen bed room - for just two of us. It had a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom was large and very clean. If we were to return to the Rocky Mountain Park/ Estes Park again in the future - I definitely plan to stay here again.

Overall, the Expedition Lodge was a decent place to stay. They had lower prices than other hotels, which was nice. The location was also convenient. However, we were disappointed with a few things. Online, the hotel advertised breakfast starts at 6:30 a.m., but they actually didn’t serve food until 7:00. Having a later than expected breakfast time impacted our hiking times. The mini refrigerator froze all of our food. We tried changing the temperature, but our food was still frozen and ruined. The water pressure in the shower was very poor. Overall, we had a decent stay in Estes Park at the Expedition Lodge, we just were disappointed in a few things. The online information should be updated so the breakfast time isn’t falsely advertised. The mini fridge should have a label to indicate temperatures on the mini fridge.

This is probably the worst breakfast I have ever eaten. No bacon, eggs, biscuits - it’s deviled eggs, taco items- just stuff I would never serve customers in Estes Park, Colorado. The location is ok- about 2 miles of driving to shop in Estes. The customer rep. was wonderful and very helpful. Just a TERRBLE breakfast for a tourist.

Cottage cheese, chicken salad, hummus, cheese, ham, bacon, naan bread, focassia bread, waffles, French toast, syrups, jelly, peanutbutter, cereals, milk, yogurts, milk, juices, deviled egg bar, oatmeal and two rows of nuts, candy and dried fruit to add in. Juices. Fresh fruit. Hot teas, hot cocoa, coffees. Mixins. If you go away with lack of choice...it is your fault! Chili was awesome. Any chance I get for naan bread, hummus and add provided vegetables to it...it is a win. Loved cocoa one day. Hot tea the next. Rocky Mountain Elk and mule deer come into town. One morning elk were out front of the lodge. Otherwise less than a mile away. Great place to quickly get to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Spacious room but outdated; you can hear everything outside the room. Housekeeping came at 8 AM for our 1-night stay and were very loud right outside our room. Expecting a great breakfast there were no eggs expcept some hard boiled and the elk chili was cold, really did not have any elk meat, and I got sick 2 hours later. The bathroom had some upgrades, but it was half done. This place needs a renovation.

Breakfast options were absolutely HORRIBLE! They had hard boiled eggs with “toppings” (onions, shredded cheese, pickles, cottage cheese) then had dry cereal, toast, plain bagels, yogurt cups, and a variety (3 options) of different breads with the same toppings as the eggs. There was no waffles, no pancakes, no scrambled eggs, no breakfast meats nothing!!!!! Now to the rooms! DISGUSTING!!!! The house keeping staff is extremely lazy! The side of the bath tub was full of mold, the floors were not swept or moped, I found dirt & hair in my bed sheets, the bath tub plug would not work had to use a wash rag! Three of the lamps in the room did not work and they did not have any extra outlets on the walls around the room for electronics to be charged. The walls and rooms are small and thin! You can here a normal toned conversation in the room next to you, they allow pets as well and this has caused for others to deal with barking, whining, howling dogs next you when they should put animal family’s on one side of the hotel and non animal stays on the other. Parking lot is absolutely NOT favorable for trucks! We drive a F350, there was another F350 parked in front of the rooms and we had no parking left but two spots and had to try and park in front of the other truck and could not because it did not leave enough room for vehicles in between the two trucks to still drive through!!! Also a warning the fire pits they advertise are NOT gas you will have to have wood to use them!!

The property was till undesome construction and there was some bad sheetrock work in one of our rooms, but overall the place was clean and staff was friendly. We were not a fan of the continental breakfast. Need to add normal breakfast hot food like eggs and bacon. Not just elk chilli for breakfast. Game room and pool were nice clean and fun. Would stay again.

Our room was nice & cozy and the beds were comfortable. Convenient location at the edge of town with wonderful views. The outdoor deck was a lovely place to sit and relax. The game room and pool kept the kids occupied for a bit as well. Definitely on the list of places we'd consider staying again in the future.

We've been going to the Expedition Lodge for years. The property is clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and it's close to great hiking and downtown. This time we were surprised to find the free breakfast replaced by a restaurant. Not sure if that's only in-season, but it was empty both days we were there. Not that differentiated from others in that area now unfortunately. Plus one night our next door neighbor's dog barked for 2 hours straight while the owner was out.

This hotel was clean and had beautiful views of the mountains and the lake. I have stayed at a few hotels in Estes and this one was definitely worth it. It is an older building, but the rooms were nice and clean. My only complaint may specifically be my room, but the lighting was very poor. Only 3 dim lamps. Other than that, no complaints about this property.
