Merry Manor is a large clean modern hotel in South Portland. And it’s just fine. But it was a little expensive… especially as I used it as a one night whistle stop. I chose it especially for the swimming pool. But when I arrived, the pool was closed for all of September for maintenance. No mention was made when I booked, and no discount was offered. So overall I felt disappointed. But the hotel was pleasant, service was friendly and good, breakfast was OK. But without the pool… not good value for me.

The check in was quick and easy. First time I’ve ever had a hold on my card for a room, even when booking through hotels.com. Most just put my card on file, I understand the reasoning but also can defer people from choosing to stay at this branch of hotels. We only booked this hotel specifically for its hot tub. It was more expensive but because it had a hot tub we booked. There was no information on their page that stated it was out of order prior to booking. Yet when we arrived we found out it was out of order. Next time we will make sure to call ahead to confirm everything is in working order. Somethings seem to be updated in the rooms, others a bit dated. The beds were comfortable and clean, the tv offers netflix if you have an account, casting and decent channels. The breakfast was decent and nice they offered espresso.

I have rated this better in the past. it is fine, but no longer any cookies at checkin, and the indoor/outdoor pool which was a draw for the family, is no longer heated enough to stay in for very long. Still a good choice, especially off-season prices, and the breakfast is good (not the full breakfast of the past, but good)

This was a great choice! Very clean hotel, well- kept grounds, and the best part was charging my EV free! Complimentary charging! The included breakfast was super, as was the breakfast guy Chris- also super. Beautiful outdoor pool as well.

Clean rooms, comfy beds, great breakfast! The pools were a huge hit with my entire family, we loved being able to swim outside AND inside during cooler weather and the waterfall in the hot tub was awesome. The hotel was a very short drive to the Maine Mall, other Portland locations, and lots of food (with a gas station right next to it).

We had a nice visit and have been coming here for years. One recommendation though is the hot tub really need some maintenance work done. Only a few of the jets work. We remember years ago when they all worked really well and you’d have tons of bubbles now hardly any. Thank you.

Could use some updating. There were hair strands in the bathroom & caulk around shower had black mold. Toilet was constantly running. The hallway carpet had a large wrinkle down the center. Breakfast was good & the attendant was very attentive at restocking. Bed was comfortable.

Our experience at this hotel was far from what we expected. The first room we were given was in terrible condition — the ceiling was covered in dirt and grime, and the room reeked of smoke, despite being advertised as non-smoking. It felt more like a run-down motel than a proper hotel. We requested daily cleaning, but it was never carried out first night. After expressing our dissatisfaction, we were upgraded to a suite, which was an improvement, but it didn’t make up for the overall poor experience. Despite the upgrade, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel and won’t be returning in the future. The lack of cleanliness standards was disappointing.

Room, bathroom and sink rease xtremely clean, no odors. Comfortable bed, nice touch with the massage chair- all around inviting and comfortable. Great hot shower. Excellent and varied breakfast options whether we were there early or later in the serving time. All staff were helpful and friendly. Pool was great. Will certainly come back on our return trips to Portland area.

Great hotel! Our room was absolutely spotless and very comfortable. There is 24/7 coffee in the lobby which was really appreciated after a cold winter drive. Breakfast was good and they can accommodate common allergies - I have to eat gluten free and they had Udi's bagels on request! There is a lovely indoor/outdoor pool that is open year-round. It was a little colder than I expected, but plenty of people were using it so I think that's a personal preference. There is also a nice hot tub with a waterfall indoors. Overall our stay was great and the staff were all super friendly. Thanks!!

The walls are a little thin. We had some rambunctious girls staying in the room near us and thry giggled and were loud until midnight. Not a big deal unless you have to get up early. Breakfast was very good. Staff were all very friendly. Property is a bit dated but comfortable. Gym very small, not much equipment but once again enough to do what's needed. Pool was cold but i like my water warmer. My daughter went in for a little bit because who doesn't want to spend time in an outdoor pool in the winter? Very neat. Hot tub was comfortable but not quite warm enough for me. Perfect for my husband.

Sadly, we had a bad experience at the Merry Manor. Friendly staff at check in and check out but the room and section of the hotel where we stayed was skeazy, worn out, and did not warrant the positive reviews I saw before booking. Maybe other parts of the hotel have been upgraded? Additionally the room had a ton of road noise and was very bright outside with poor black out shades. It would have been very easy for the staff to place us on the quiet back side of the hotel but for some reason they did not. I am easy to please but spent $200 for a gross room and no sleep. Will not be returning...

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place feels dated a bit shoddy and needs an upgrade. The bathroom fan was not working. The air conditioner was very noisy and made a loud buzzing sound when it turned on, keeping me from falling asleep. Netflix was not working and I was told the tv's are new and a maintenance guy could come in the morning but I wouldn't be needing it then.

My family stayed here as a layover stop to Acadia and to visit Portland. The location was great...right off highway and very close to downtown Portland. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and their pool was nice. One of the beds was pretty hard, but not an issue. Our trip was short but really nice.

They offered us an upgrade (we declined because we were there with a second family and it would have put us on opposite floors). Staff was friendly and helpful. Absolutely fantastic! The only slight problem was thinness of walls, which is beyond their control. We could hear people in the hallway & nearby rooms as if they were in our room. Staff we’re amazingly helpful & friendly. The room, halls, pool area, & breakfast room were very clean & well maintained. Wide variety of choices for breakfast. & lastly, I appreciated them allowing us an extended check out because of a medical situation we incurred. Will definitely visit again!

Horrible experience. I reserved a night at this hotel with my daughter, but my flight got significantly delayed, so she was going to check in herself. Her name was on the reservation, and she is twenty and half years old. Apparently this specific hotel has a twenty one years old minimum policy, whereas all hotels generally have eighteen or older policy. My daughter was literally kicked out onto the street and left without a place for the night. No pleading with the hotel manager, crying, trying to explain our situation worked. My daughter isn’t a kid. She wasn’t there to throw parties. She was just one single woman, needing a place to sleep for the night in a city she didn’t know. To add insult to injury, she was supposed to meet me there and my flight got delayed. So she was all alone, and now with no place to sleep. The manager was rude, condescending and completely heartless. Her “awww it broke my heart to kick her out, but too bad so sad” attitude was absolutely heartbreaking while I was crying on the phone stuck in a different country. She then places me on hold and never comes back to me while I sit there sobbing, texting my daughter trying to figure out what she is going to do for the night. Horrible horrible heartless behavior that I would never wish on anyone with kids. Or on anyone in any situation.

Samantha at the front desk is an asset! She deserves a raise and praise. She’s worth her weight in gold! Friendly. Courteous. Made pleasant conversation. Provided a discount coupon for a local restaurant and told us how to quickly walk there. Provided towels to the pool and hot tub. Room was clean. We’ll turned out. There were 4 towels for four adults. This was our fifth hotel on holiday and only second hotel to provide this! Definitely would be happy to stay there again!

We were flying out next am and location of this hotel was good - short drive to airport. Nice rooms, beautiful breakfast area. Great staff...placed us in a quiet wing as other area was filled with kids and families attending a sporting event. I would certainly stay in this hotel again.

Excellent staff. Very professional and helpful with information. Hotel is convenient by either driving, Lyft or Uber to the airport restaurants, and shopping. Breakfast was plentiful, but not very good. Eggs were undercooked and sausage was overcooked. Climate control in the room was excellent and the bed was comfortable. Wifi was easily accessible. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel 15 mins from downtown, a little run down. Breakfast although lots of choice had to be eaten from paper plates and cutlery. Not enjoyable as it felt like a camping trip. Restaurant across the road was great for dinner if you didnt want to go back into the centre of portland
