Guest reviews of Grand Beach Resort Hotel

AI-generated summary based on recent guest reviews

Grand Beach Resort Hotel draws travelers for its private sandy beach on East Grand Traverse Bay, generous lake views from many rooms, and consistently friendly staff, while a boxed breakfast and some dated or spotty maintenance temper expectations.

We have stayed at this hotel I think 7 times now and every time it has been a great family experience! The breakfast is maybe the only thing that I would like to see changed. It is a boxed mostly cold breakfast with the options about like 5 different boxes options like of a breakfast sausage sandwich box or a kids trix box or a hard eggs box. It would be nice to open up a breakfast bar/buffet which I think they had pre-Covid. But even with the boxed breakfast it’s still always in date fresh items so it’s perfectly acceptable food. And if you want a hot breakfast there are several restaurants close by. The pool is nice and warm and the hot tub is hot and well maintained. The beach has nice chairs and picnic tables and towels are available at the front desk.

We stayed for 2 nights. We were welcomed by helpful staff to a clean room that fit our needs near the water. Overall would stay again..

Almost everything About the grand Beach resort is spectacular, especially the view from the third floor Bayside rooms. The staff was excellent; Alex at the front desk was especially helpful and friendly. I hope everybody who checks in there gets to deal with him. The cleanliness and seating arrangements for the beach our second to none, and the water was so clean and shallow out to about 50 yards even a child could enjoy it with proper adult supervision. On the downside, the third floor has no icemaker, and the icemaker on the first and second floors were simply not working. My companion is recovering from knee surgery and we had an incredibly difficult time having to go get ice for her to take care of her knee. Housekeeping only schedules room cleaning for every third night, unless you ask them for more. Since you can ask them for more, I guess this isn't a huge problem, but on our four night stay, we weren't aware of the optional night and had to wait for our fourth night before we had fresh bedding and linens. Every hotel should use two ply toilet paper, and the grand beach hasn't yet figure that out. This seems to me to be saving money in the worst ways, at the expense of the guests comfort and cleanliness The breakfast is another matter altogether. You choose from a selection of boxes delivered each morning. They include a quarter cup of orange juice, a bit of fruit, and some other options. They provided about a tablespoon of granola. They really should do better!

The breakfast was atrocious, for an extra $13/ night you could have ONE 35 cent gas station donut, a child sized orange juice and luke warm water. The place smelled like mildew, house cleaning is once every 3 nights only, and the pool area is exposed to the guest area and parking lot which made no sense. There are dozens of other hotels in the area that offer better amenities, better breakfasts for lower prices. If you want to enjoy the "private" beach on a canoe, they charge $55/ hour which is more than anyone charges for an entire day.
