Burrstone Inn, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Very nice hotel minutes outside of Utica so very convenient if visiting Utica. Very quiet. Staff friendly and helpful. Pub bar type restaurant with good food. Pool looked lovely and clean even though we did not use it many people were out enjoying it.

The waffle maker. The pool was filthy and the restaurant was not in full service with no wait staff and only a bartender. After waiting 25 minutes we were told "I am all alone so I do not know when I will get to you,"

The staff were incredible, so friendly and hospitable, and we loved the biergarten.

We had plenty of free parking. Free hot breakfast. Didn't use the pool, but it was there and we were tempted. Great value for the price.

The pool was dirty no one ever cleaned it, on Saturday night there was a party at the hotel with a bunch of rowdy kids looking to intimidate and start confrontations with the guests. They also trashed the bathrooms and areas around the hotel. Harassed the staffers and heard someone say there were weapons involved.don’t know why the police weren’t called! This was not acceptable

This property looks beautiful but the hotel stinks. Our room smelled old and musty, my daughters allergies were so bad that she couldn't sleep. The breakfast was great. The pool was so dirty that the kids jumped in and back out very quickly.

Decent hotel. Friendly staff, nice outdoor pool, usual hotel breakfast buffet. We did change rooms once, 1st room was very humid, maybe due to proximity to the pool. Second room was upstairs and 100% better. Would stay here again. Industrial park location which made for a quiet stay (weekend stay).

Really cute, unique property with \'70s vibes. First, the negatives: Coffee is that instant pre-mix syrup, so not a fan (but Dunkin is down the block), and vending & ice machines mostly broken. Also, not nearly enough electrical outlets in the room (built pre-cellphones and not retrofitted). That said, it was lovely and not a cookie-cutter more modern chain hotel. Built around a large pool and features a neat bar-restaurant "the Beergarden" where families and locals congregate to listen to an acoustic guitarist, sing karaoke, and play darts and pool. Room was large and comfortable. Plan on coming back next time we\'re in the area.

Cleaning was poorly done and trash throughout the hallways and staff walking pass and not cleaning it up.

This hotel is in serious need of attention. Many of the common areas were visibly dirty, with stains on both the floors and walls. In one hallway, I noticed a fire alarm hanging loosely from the wall. This was just one of several safety violations I observed as someone who trains others in OSHA compliance. My initial room (130) had clear signs of water damage on the ceiling and felt damp throughout. Worse, I discovered spiders crawling on me while I slept and found spider egg sacs in multiple corners. I was moved to Room 128 the next morning, which didn’t have the same spider issue, but was still damp, had a strong mildew smell, and dirty floors. Although I wanted to check out early, the city was completely booked due to a local event. This made the experience even more frustrating. The general manager, or the woman I believe to be the general manager, was unprofessional. She repeatedly sat in the back office and refused to assist waiting guests when the front desk clerks were away helping others. On one occasion, another guest and I waited nearly 10 minutes before she reluctantly came out to assist us. On my checkout day, I requested a late checkout due to a delayed flight and was told I had to pay $40 because “the hotel was really busy.” As a Choice Rewards member who had dealt with multiple issues during my stay, I found this response especially disappointing. The only reason this review isn’t a 1-star is because the evening and morning front desk clerks were amazing

Our room was very clean and quiet. We will definitely stay at the Burrstone Inn, Utica, NY in the future.

Rooms were spacious and very clean. Every member of the staff I encountered was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent.

I would not recommend to anyone to stay here. There was a used towel in our bathroom when we checked in. At check in we were not informed of the outdated covid policy of no maid service for three days of stay and were not given the paperwork to ask for clean towels. Therefore after being gone all day the day after check in, we came back to our unmade up room and with no clean towels. Upon talking to the person at the desk, I was informed that this was because of covid and I should know that "covid is still a thing." No apology, no attempt at customer service. The only place that there is any indication about the maid service is a very small sign in the far left of the check-in counter, which is unacceptable. And no clean towels available until maybe one in the morning, which was useless to us There was no caffeinated coffee at 9AM when their breakfast buffet did not close down until 10AM. The facility is dated and the lobby bathrooms were unclean. We used Expedia and were willing to pay $170 per night hoping that would insure a pleasant stay, even though knowing the Utica area, I thought that was a bit steep. I could have stayed at a Motel 6 for this kind of experience and for much less. At this point, I would not use Expedia again and certainly never stay at this hotel and would think twice about staying at any Ascend Hotel.

First thing I look at when I stay anywhere as a travel nurse is the bathrooms. Less then subpar would give the bathroom a 2/5 for cleanliness. Other than that the stay was okay, poor lighting.

I was disgusted when I went to bed and there were pubic hair and head hair on my sheets. I couldn’t even sleep on them and spent the night on top of the comforter. I spoke to the person at the desk and he did nothing.

Nice pool, enjoyed the free breakfast. Friendly staff. Unfortunately the room was damp and smelled very musty. Bathroom had no vent and the accessible shower meant water on floor that never dries. If the room had felt dry this would be a decent place. Surely can't be like that in all rooms?

Our TV remote did not work. The volume button wasn’t working. Last day we couldn’t shut the TV off.

Terrible lighting in the room. The TV didn't work. The advertised free cookies were mostly absent. The breakfast was great! The food in the Beer Garden was terrific!

This is a decent hotel but in need of repairs/renovation. It was fairly clean, but old. I opened the window to let some fresh air in, the window wouldn't fully close. Bed, linens and pillows were very good however towels were clean but really worn and old. Breakfast was OK, but the timer on one of the waffle makers were broken and all you can find was instant coffee, which is unacceptable even in a budget motel and Burrstone Inn is nowhere near a budget motel. Staff was polite and very helpful.

It's my second time staying here and I really like this place.. Big room, comfortable bed, lots of TV channels. The only thing I would like to see would be table top electrical outlets. I had to crawl under the desk and unplug either the coffee maker or the desk lamp to plug in my laptop.

The area is good. The room had a musty moldy damp smell. The TV could have more channels and the air conditioner just made the room smell more like damp cat

I checked into hotel and headed down to the restaurant for dinner. Food and atmosphere was great. Got back to room and noticed mold and moisture around an outlet. I called the front desk and they came up to look at it. Everything on the wall (tv, fridge, microwave ect.) was plugged into this outlet with a power strip. I was moved to another room which was a slight inconvenience but ok. Took a shower the next morning and there was very little pressure due to half of the water still coming out of the spigot. Tub also did not drain well. I stopped at the front desk at check out to ask them to have the manager call me about the issues and never received a call. The staff that was working was very nice and apologetic.

I came during karaoke night so I thought it was going to ruin my night because I’m so use to hotels with super thin walls I thought for sure the music would be unbearable. Nope, didn’t hear as much as a peep in my room. I absolutely love quiet hotel rooms and I base my ratings on that and the smell of the room. Fantastic hotel to stay!!!

The simple part that ruined the stay was water pressure in the shower. I will not be back even though the location is perfect for my exact situation

Property is at a convenient location. Lobby hasn’t changed in as long as I’ve been using this motel. Parking is plentiful and convenient. Room is clean and adequate. There is hardly any light in the room. I went to heat up my coffee but needed to get MY FLASHLIGHT to read CONTROLS.

Cancellation policy is 48 hours, and we called to cancel several days before that, but despite trying several times and waiting minutes each time for them to pick up, the front desk never did pick up the phone, and there was no voicemail service to leave a message. Then we got charged the full price and the hotel refused to refund. That's what I call a scam.

We arrived early (1pm for 3 pm check in time) and we’re told that although our room was actually ready - they would have to charge us a $20 early check in fee. I found this outrageous. Also although the bed wasn’t uncomfortable- the pillows were as hard as could be. One actually looked like a basketball in the case. Not a good sleep at all.

Front desk is amazing. Loved my king bed.

Hotel is awesome. Our reservation through hotels com however was problematic. Although we had confirmation and had paid in advance, our reservation was not in the system. That being said, front staff was very accommodating and professional and cleared the matter efficiently andcwell

I agree with the review given on our last day at 3am. The experience was not well received. The kids hockey families were there creating havoc with kids unsupervised running and playing in the hall with nets and hockey sticks. The gym room was full of unsupervised kids. Parents in the bar with beer buckets with their own agenda while kids again on the pool table with hockey sticks. View your video footage from the the time we were there. Security was lacking staff was minimal and overwhelmed with the chaos going on. In their defense, they were great with what they had to deal with. Would not recommend staying again for us or anyone. Obviously management was in it for the money 💰.

Staff was friendly, room was clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Free breakfast was awesome, hot options, very tasty. Would definitely stay again!

Staff was great, breakfast was good and it was close to where our son's in-laws live so it worked out wonderful for us.

The staff at Burrstone Inn were extremely pleasant and helpful when we checked in. The room was large and clean. It was an easy drive to get everywhere in Utica from the location as well. We were pleasantly surprised by our stay!

Service was nonexistent. Felt like they didn't even acknowledge I was there. An imaginary bed would've been more comfortable.

This location was convenient for my purpose and was comfortable as I stayed here once before

Odd location but it worked for me

It was very nice, and in a nice area. Not too far from shopping.

The locati I n was in a safe area near colleges and restaurants.

Food was expensive and pretty terrible Ordered a martini during the Happy Hour time slot as well as appetizers which were not the reduced pricing as I was told

Was the third hotel we went to because the others smelled so bad just walking into the lobby. This was clean and the desk person friendly. Comfortable bed, delicious breakfast. Did not hear anyone even though all the room surrounding us had guests too.

Expensive for sure , but the Beefsteaksbar and resturant was nice. Breakfast could have as offerings sausage or bacon.

Had a bunch of rooms for a job I was doing in Utica. Had no expectations but really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were nice, the restaurant happy hour had a .25¢ wing special and entertainment. Totally exceeded our expectations. Will be back same time next year.
