My stay at Holiday Inn Wilkes Barre - East Mountain, was great. It was relaxing and pleasant to experience a big size pool, hot tub and sauna. Parking was sufficient and front desk was helpful. The rooms needed a bit of upgrading but the stay was accommodating. Thank You

Have stayed at this property numerous times over the past 10 years or so, including multiple nights each Christmas holiday. Very good people from desk to breakfast buffet to cleaning persons, but the decline in the property itself is disappointing. This 7 day visit, only one elevator was working (they have two). The hot tub was broken again this year, 'waiting on a part'. With the hot tub closed two years for covid, that's 4 years out of the last 5. Ice machines are routinely out of service. And why does a non-smoking hotel smell so often of weed in the hallways? While the staff is as accommodating as they could be, it becomes a question if the property is worth the fairly premium rates they charge.

Hotel is under renovation and had no problems with my room or anything else. Wish the air conditioning in bar area wasn't so cold but enjoyed my time there. Jacuzzi was not even luke warm so it was disappointing. Pool water was colder. Overall I have stayed here several times over the years and always find it satisfactory.

This hotel is really below mediocre and now I understand why. It's definitely not the worst I've seen before but way behind its presentation. What I actually liked: - Restaurant on site (great option, not many hotels in non-popular locations like this offer it); - Giant parking (it's spacious I think enough to cover a full hotel capacity). What I really dislike: - Lot's of stingy options they are making money of (common bottle of water: $2 each (usually at least 1 bottle in the room but not in this hotel, then $18 per person for pretty generic food in buffet with selection of 10 dishes max); - Staff that don't really care about guests (they are pretty falsely polite but in fact: we supposed to have a crib for a baby in the room and it was our only request made on expedia, and also contacted with text asking for a crib, and it was NOT in the room, even after asking they brought it after 2 additional phone calls, we were really tired with the baby with delayed and cancelled flights); - Pretty old building, old carpets, equipment (it looks really cheesy stuck in 60s, unlike the photos of rooms); - Dirty room (lots of dust even in visible spaces under bedside table, visible even without moving, smelly room with dirty socks or something like that). Would I've booked or recommended it? No. It is okay if there are no better option available in the area. But besides the hotels with same price I lived - it's outsider.

Room was terrible. Tub dirty and missing paint. Large brown stain on Rug that no one bothered to clean up. Customer service couldn’t change my room for the night but did give me hefty discount for inconvenience. Nice size pool. Friendly staff. Just need better housekeeping

The property is in renovation. My room was on the second floor, under my bed it was so dirty, chips, pretzels and dusty, the carpet smelled so bad. The tv has lights inside the screen so, you can’t recognize what you’re watching. The curtains are not blockout so, I couldn’t sleep after 5am. The breakfast was not included, but it was so good and the staff were very friendly.

Nothing was properly cleaned. Walking around the room, the bottom of your feet would be black, there were hairs all over the linen. When checking in I wasn’t given the proper room I booked and was told my room was booked to someone else.

Front desk and breakfast staff were fantastic. Room was reasonably clean, but carpet was very old, stained and gross. Bed had THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE mattress I have EVER slept on! It felt like springs with cardboard on top, to the point it was actually painful to sleep on. I didn't get more than 20 min sleep at a time because it was so bad. Housekeeping didn't service our room, so we had to request and go down and get fresh towels and linens ourself. Pool was a bit old and worn, but was clean and very fun. Breakfast was good.

It wasn’t a good stay. The first room had blood stains on the sheets when we first checked into the room, it was highly disturbing that you keep those sheets in that room and made us feel the cleaning crew was not thorough and the room wasn’t actually cleaned. Quite frankly, it was disgusting. The second room we went to was the door was super shaky and would move multiple inches when it was “closed”. Didn’t make either of us feel safe at all. Nothing was done.

It was a one night stay, and I have stayef here before. The location is great, near all my favorite places, amazing room, extreme comfort and great view from the hill. I always choose this location when visiting Wilkes Barre for its pool, spa and sauna. Very relaxing and excellent breakfast. Construction inside was a bit disrupting but it was gine for the time of year. One difference was the front desk staff, for the money and the quality of the hotel the front desk staff is no longer professional. I was ignored for several minutes as they spoke about their private life to each other and then walked to the back room and left me waiting even longer. I came back down twice in my 16 hour stay and both times there was no one manning the desk. It was disappointing.

I've stayed at this location under it's other names. Great location and comfortable bed. Glad to see they are upgrading with renovations. Still some items that needed attention. Our room had a flimsy toilet and the shower looked to have some mold/mildew. TV also looked to have some display issues. Breakfast isn't free.

The room was totally renovated. Had a couple of mishaps, but the staff tried to make me happy anyway they could...which is much appreciated. Overall, i had a good time. Their restaurant was on point, the view from my room was amazing and relaxing. Will definitely be back again.

The room is quiet and cozy. Air conditioning does not make noise. A small table and cushion set are handy to eat something on the table. I was unable to use the microwave because of a child safety option. I followed the instructions but I could not use it anyhow. I stayed 2 days and the room was cleaned after each day.

The room on the 7th floor was completely renovated and new. The bed was soo comfortable!! However they are doing a renovation and there is noise after 9am and old furniture and carpet in common areas. Can’t wait to see the end result though!

I sincerely went to this hotel while visiting because the reviews on their staff are so impressive and I was not let down. They were all sooo wonderful . The gentleman at the front desk, Jonathan I believe, was absolutely on his game, respectful, delightful, and very helpful. Up to the room that I was so gracious for an early check in for (great room), andas I got off the elevator, I met many staff who work on the floors. They were all so accommodating, cheerful, a team that worked together so well. They are the glue that will elevate as the next step in this hotels transformation takes place. Construction is the only reason for one less star, once that's done, this gem is perfect!

Front desk staff are wonderful. Restaurant staff not so wonderful. Many tables, including me had to wait a long time to order or get our food. Many times the order was wrong or missing items. I waited 20 minutes to order food after I was seated, the table behind me got their food but not their sides for at least 15 minutes. One guy after eating his soup still didn’t get his flatbread or pizza ( couldn’t tell what it was) for an hour after he said something the girl gave him a bogus reason- that it came out soggy the first time. He asked for it in a box, they brought it down to him in a plate. He was very angry. I will not be eating at the restaurant anymore. Especially since there are so many places to eat that’s around the hotel. The draft beer is still not working. They had one draft beer on top which the waitress didn’t even know what it was. Then she came back and told me the wrong name of the beer that was on tap. The restaurant staff needs to be trained better. I will not be returning there until that happens. Lastly, I also ordered the French onion soup which came with a bay leaf inside of it. I do believe that the bay leaf should be removed before serving.

This was a last-minute family getaway for the 4th of July. We arrived around 9 PM after a long drive with kids, and no one was at the front desk for about 15–20 minutes. I had to use the phone in the lobby to get assistance. The front desk girl was friendly but overly chatty after I explained we were tired and just wanted to rest. The hotel is under renovation, which is well-posted. The layout is awkward—you have to walk through the gym to reach the pool, and the café and patio are in a cramped area. The room had a strong moldy or urine smell, outdated furniture with visible stains, and the sofa bed was unusable. The pillows weren’t clean (hair and smell from the last guest), so I covered them with towels. Thankfully, the bathroom was beautiful and looked newly renovated, and the bed was clean and cozy. We were woken up by loud renovation noise. When I went to check out the breakfast area, a staff member immediately told me to sit and show a voucher. I had no idea what that was and was told to go purchase breakfast at the front desk—without even seeing a menu. Her tone felt aggressive and unwelcoming, like a hard upsell. When checking out, no one asked how our stay was—probably because they already knew. Overall, the hotel feels low-budget and in transition. I wouldn’t recommend staying until renovations and staff training improve.

Visited the property during the July 4 holiday, during the check-in the supervisor was very nice and welcome. He gave me a very good suggestion around the area and where I can watch the fireworks. Overall the experience was very good.

It was our first time staying in this holiday and it was a beautiful stay. The hotel was clean and the service was excellent! Great size pool that was well maintained! You don’t have to go far for restaurants or gas because everything is so close.

Hi. My start was overall good, but I do want to bring up some thing that really concerned me right at the end. When I checked in, I was not given any sort of breakfast voucher which I was supposed to get. I was unaware of this. Not a big deal in the end. However, I went downstairs for breakfast at like 1015 because I was under the impression that breakfast I did at 10:30 as that is what it said on the reservation. Apparently it ended at 10, but they allow me to grab some breakfast anyway again appreciated it and that was fine. However, the woman running breakfast wanted to check to make sure that I had breakfast included with nice day. She asked me for my room number. I said it very quietly. She said it very loudly in response to confirm. This is a safety concern. I am a single woman traveling alone. I am thankful that I was not staying another night and I was about to be checking out anyway. But it is a hotel rule to never ever say a person‘s room number out loud ever. I hope you take the security concern into heart, and speak with your staff about this issue.

Every time we stay here for the last year and a half has been excellent. We especially enjoy Charlie at the Front Desk. He remembers us every time we stay. We also enjoy the breakfast buffet, the service is always excellent. We also enjoy the extra amenities.
