Holiday Inn Express Wilkes Barre East by IHG

From the second you park and see the view to the smiling face at the front desk and the new clean rooms and can’t forget free coffee all day long.. Everything was amazing sadly we were excited to go for the hot tub but it was drained and not available for use during our stay.

They do not have a shuttle as advertised. They did years ago that is why we stayed there, so we were forced to spend money on taking Lyft.

The pool was advertised, but it was green with likely algae growth. The front desk told me it was supposed to look like that. The bath also had no stopper, which makes it hard to give baths to children. Ice machines didn't work.

This hotel should be closed! Elevator broken, tv broken, all pop machines broken, pool out of service… and I could go on. Does Holiday Inn not have minimum standards?

We picked this place as the last stay of a 2 week vacation and picked it for the pool and hot tub. We would get there early and relax in the pool and hot tub. Our room was paid for automatically the day before and could not be refunded. When we got there we were told the pool and hot tub were closed. After expressing m6 disappoinment i was told i could not get a refund but they would make it up to me, which was a bottle of water. Very rude and not appreciated. Getting access to another properties pool would have been appreciated or an email notice while i could still cancel the reservation about the pool would have been nice. We could have stayed at another plave for $50 less but we paid extra to get the pool and hot tub. Getting $50 back is the least they could do.

Staff was super nice and friendly. Only draw back was hot tub not working. The breakfast had a nice variety. And was comfortable area.

This place is a joke. We booked it for the hot tub and pool for kids. The pool was green and nasty. The hot tub was cold and unuseable. There were no towels and mold everywhere. There was mushrooms growing inside window sills. When brought to staff attention the manager proceeded to grabbed the mushrooms and asked if we wanted to make spaghetti. Eww that can get you sick. The room was small and smelled funny. There was mold in the bathroom. Horrible place to stay. If it wasn’t so late we would’ve went somewhere else. Not happy. !!!!!

Nothing special to write home about by anymeans. Hot tub was not working. Pool was dirty. Once you get on the other floors of the hotel. Theres no air flow or ac in the hallways and once you go to your room for the first time. The ac is off so its hot and muggy until it fianlly cools off.

Nice property but floors were dirty

We had multiple hairs on the vanity, the extra sheets had small hairs on them, the ice machine was broken, the floor crackled when you walked on it and supplies were non existent on the coffee station in the lobby. Breakfast looked ok but food tasted aweful.

This property needs a major overhaul. The gentleman at the front desk was super friendly and helpful when we checked in. However the room was dirty the dust along side and behind the furniture was at least 2 inches thick. There was rust along the door of the bathroom. The water did not drain in the shower. There seemed to be mold from the water on ceiling of bathroom. Ultimately this property needs a whole renovation.

Besides the Staff and pricing, I wouldn't stay in this particular location again. The staff were friendly, but the place was extremely dirty. We tried to stay somewhere else but it was too short notice so we cleaned ourselves. The vents blew out dirt so we kept dusting and that's the SECOND room we were moved to.

My room was next to a very noisy air conditioner The curtain didn’t close, the bath didn’t drain, and the toilet was broken. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean.

Check in with employees Vanessa B and Lindsey was great and we loved visiting with them. Both are exceptional employees!!! They were both so friendly and funny and provided all the info we needed. The room was super clean and smelled clean. However, the tub faucet leaked all night long and there was not hot water for a shower! NO HOT WATER AT ALL FOR THE ENTIRE STAY! The night employee said she couldn’t anything about it and the hotel was fully booked so we were stuck with that room. The next morning info we were I turned we could not get any kind of compensation because we booked thru Hotels.com. Very disappointed with this hotel and Hotels.com The mattress and pillows were not comfortable at all. And we had to listen to the TV in the room next to ours all night. Not soundproof at all. The 1:30 AM yelling in the hallway was super annoying. This place is not convenient for restaurants or a convenience store.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast was nice. The staff was friendly and courteous. The hotel was still under renovations. The drinking water did not appear safe. It was very cloudy. The staff gave out water..

While the rooms are a bit small, and the bathroom more so, the property is quiet, convenient, has an excellent check-in staff and a very good buffet breakfast.

A nice place to stay, very comfortable room and bed!

This room looked like they divided an actual hotel room in half and stuffed an armoire in it. The room was clean but crowded. We had to ask the staff for towels twice and they were not rude- but not friendly. They seemed annoyed to be bothered. The breakfast selection was great, but each day we had to ask for the coffee machine to be serviced. This hotel is fine, but not a great choice for traveling with small children. Probably will choose a different hotel next time.

Hotel is nice but the rooms are outdated

Very friendly staff and good breakfast. Rooms were in very clean condition. However, the TV was difficult to use and the "guide" did not work, making it necessary to flip to each channel to see what was on. In addition, the mattress on our queen sized bed was far too soft and uncomfortable for sleeping.

I had the worst experience at this hotel last night. I had an event with family in PA and needed a place to rest before making the 3 hour drive back to NY the next day. I called the hotel around 9:30pm and informed the front desk that I would be arriving very late. The woman I spoke to said that is fine and we can check in whenever we get in. My husband and I arrived at around 3am and were told our room was canceled because we didn’t confirm. The man at the front desk, Kai, was extremely rude from the beginning and just kept telling us that because there was no note, our room was canceled. There was no trying to see what he could do for us or try to resolved the issue. It was just “yeah, your room was canceled”. I asked him how is the room canceled when I called and spoke to an actual person who confirmed they put a note in my chart? He said I’m supposed to call the hotel twice to confirm. Why should I call twice to confirm when I already spoke to someone? He was very dismissive and he lacked customer care. He said your room was canceled but you’ll be refunded on Monday. At this point, he still did not say let’s see what I can offer you. I said how would I know if I’m going to be refunded? He said I’ll just need to have patience. Hotels do not refund you when you no show. I asked for his first and last name and he says “ now you’re getting too personal. Why would I give you my last name? I don’t have to give you that.” Which is fine but it matters how you talk to people.

Staff went above and beyond. Rooms r comfy. Our second time we stayed and would not hesitate to stay again.

Kim helped us check in. She is excellent. Nice, fun, knowledgable, and helpful. Truly the BEST experiemce we've ever had checking into a hotel.

We walked into the hotel tired, hungry and pretty frazzled by a truck driver on the interstate who tried to run us off the road. But your staff were so kind, helpful and welcoming that we felt better immediately. Our check in was smooth and simple. They pointed us to a nearby restaurant with great food and our room was clean, quiet and comfortable.

The clerk wasnt at his post. Then later, he have been very rude over tge fact that he firgot to ask something basic on my registration and kept arguing with me. Very uncomfortable situation

First, the property itself is odd. The access road is dark and overgrown. The outside of the property is a mess. I stayed there before a year ago and it was the same situation. A lot of litter and junk piled around outside. The staff is nice and the room is fine. But this place has obviously seen some hard use. They do not seem to be keeping up with the wear and tear of daily use.

I know there is construction nearby, the entrance road is pretty beat up. Also a more visible entrance sign would be helpful, as we drove past it the the first time. Otherwise it was nice.

The road getting to the property was filled with pot holes.

Easy check in, nice quiet room. Good breakfast. Easy access off I-81

The room was very nice and our stay was good, close to where we needed to be to conduct business and see family and friends. The hotel was difficult to find but that was because we were not accustomed to the location. Would definitely stay here again.

The property is under construction the driveway full of holes the hot tub was not working and could not use the pool it was as green as the grass the breakfast was awful the eggs where watered and the bread & bagles were hard as rocks we didnt eat and coffee was cold we checked in at 4:30 pm and left by 7am could not believe how bad it was for a Holiday Inn & Suits , usually the are top notch this one was not , no where close to it

Breakfast should be served starting at 6am on weekends same as during the week. Otherwise, everything was great. It's a wierd way to get to the hotel from the main road though.

Breakfast had vegetarian options (veggie omelet) which was a first for me!
