Hampton Inn & Suites Charlottesville-At the University

We arrived after dark and the receptionist told us right away that the t.v.s were not working and that there was no hot water. We very much appreciated the information and checked in somewhere else down the road.

The lobby of the hotel is under renovation. The front entrance is closed and under construction. The gym is closed. The bathrooms on the lobby floor are closed and unavailable. I will not return until the construction and renovations are completed.

Should have been given the opportunity to know that the property was under renovation. The lobby and breakfast were a mess and inconvenient.

This property is under MAJOR RENOVATION. No TV, very little heat and NO HOT WATER! at 9:30pm we left and checked into another property nearby. How can I contact Expedia with this problem?????????

Out of a 3 night stay, there was no hot water for 2 days. Staff said run it for a time but to no avail. There was no empathy from staff about this problem. They did comp one night’s parking for that inconvenience. This is a 400 per night hotel. Very poor customer service experience.

Good location given is close to the UVA campus. Parking is a bit difficult because there are not enough spaces.

I don't like them charging 15.00 a day to park along with motel fees and taxes. Other than that it wasn't bad

Under construction w/ noise and no television to watch tournament basketball. These things happen, but at the very least, don’t charge for parking or offer something to compensate a disappointing stay. Location is great though.

Hotel under renovation. No hot water. Construction noise at all hours. Dust everywhere. Sinks backed up. Do not book this hotel. It won’t be ready for at least a year, maybe longer.

There was hair in the sink and tub. The heat wasn't hot like it should've been. Parking is $15

Room was spotless. Sheets were super soft. Check in was a breeze.

Disappointed to see the level of customer service drop to levels I haven’t seen before. Receptionist rude. Housekeeping no-show. Requested room to be cleaned - declined. Maybe this is the new norm for Hampton Inn but certainly not what I’ll be booking again.

Eggs were not real eggs. Only powdered eggs. The clerk said she would e-mail receipt, but I never got it. They only clean rooms every other day. What's up with that? Charged $15.00/day to park my car. Use to be free. Everybody wants a tip these days.

Very happy with my accommodations at the Hampton Inn! Pleasantly surprised that my room had a nice living room area and a full kitchen! Felt like I was at my old 1 bedroom apartment! Lots of room and I felt very happy there.

The main goal of any hotel, motel, inn, air bnb should be to provide guests with a restful night(s) sleep. This was not possible in the room I was given. It was on the second floor facing Main St. I was constantly awakened by sirens, horns, loud car exhaust, and loud music coming from cars. My first night (a Friday) I got maybe two hours of uninterrupted sleep after a 10 hour drive. I spent the next day of my visit exhausted and trying to get some rest. The next night of my visit was marginally better, but my sleep was still interrupted by the sounds mentioned above. I brought this to the attention of the person at the desk and was treated as if this was just part of the experience. No offer to change my room to a quieter part of the hotel. I have stayed in hotels in NYC, Singapore, Hong Kong, SF, and many other locations in cities larger than Charlottesville where the same noises exist but have never been awakened and kept awake because the rooms were better insulated for sound. The only way I knew an emergency vehicle was driving by was the flashing lights in the window. If you stay in this hotel, do yourself a favor and insist on being assigned a room that is NOT facing Main St. For the money I paid for a two-night stay, this issue is unacceptable and the worst hotel of experience of my life. The lack of attentiveness of the staff to this issue compounded my aggravation and frustration. Ridiculous is another word that comes to mind.

Walkable to UVA campus, easy and free parking and several dining options nearby. But our room was next to the street and was loud due to traffic up to about midnight. We would have liked a change to the other side and there was room to do this but we were told it was not possible. So our sleep wasn’t great, even with earplugs.

We were pleased with our checkin, especially the receptionist’s welcome and willingness to have access to our room early. The room had an updated feel and the bathrooms glass shower doors worked well and looked lovely. The breakfast had multiple options and was spaced out to make for easy access to all choices. This is a lovely hotel and a great place to stay when in Charlottesville.

Paula at the front desk was Awesome!!! She was very friendly, great smile, attentive, and was very quick to get me checked-in even though there was a crowd of folks around me, she made me feel special. Thank you Hampton Inn & Suites. The front desk staff was professional, helpful and very pleasant. The hotel was one of the nicest Hampton Inns that I have stayed at and I have stayed at a lot, as I generally prefer them. My only complaint would be the pillows, there was not much substance to them. Otherwise, absolutely perfect

The entire experience was terrible from the beginning. No staff @desk upon checkin. Expedia getting my name wrong on reservation. TV not operating. Staff unconcerned including mgr I reported experience to following Monday since was Saturday night stay. Room next door shaking walls from kids next door. Just one of worse customer concerns ever experienced from hotel. HAVE STAYED THERE BEFORE WHEN FAMILY IN HOSPITAL & all was well then but this time seems new management doesn't seem to care. Will NOT return

Parking was easy, location was prime, highly walkable, helpful front desk staff, lots to do near by, would return!

This location is next to the hospital where my daughter had surgery. So convenient and lessened the stress for us. Staff was very nice and helpful.

The staff were polite, room was clean breakfast could have been better. Window Blind in our room did not work so we couldn’t look out window which I always enjoy. Over all stay was good.

It was close to UVA MEDICAL / HOSPITAL. WE were able to walk to an 8 am appt. Also to many choices for dinner later. Nice to walk uo and down the hills. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was tasty and had many choices. Thanks alot.

Except for breakfast whose quality and quantity has gone down since our last stay, it’s still our first choice when visiting Charlottesville. Breakfast was not up to to par. No potatoes or sausages. Even only fruit was Banana.

This is a fantastic property. The staff were top-notch and the room was exceptionally clean. The breakfast was very good and the staff took care to keep the buffet area very clean throughout. Overall, the front desk staff was also fantastic and helpful when I needed to extend my reservation. Highly recommend.

The front desk ladies are great and were so incredibly helpful throughout our week’s stay. The gentleman who maintains the breakfast area was outstanding! He was so attentive to the cleanliness of the dining area and the supply of food & coffee. The outdoor parking area is well lit at night and we felt very safe.

Solid hotel. Convenient location, clean, friendly staff. Breakfast was included
