Great location, fun decor however it doesn’t cover up the musty smell in the halls and age of the building and it’s appointments. The AC unit in our room was incredibly loud, difficult to sleep through, bathroom had a piece missing from the framed mirror… looked tired and sad, in need of some maintenance and TLC - disappointing. The rooftop deck, which was a big reason for booking, was closed for a private event which was also a big let down, unable to use our food/ drink credit which again was another reason for booking. Only stayed one night, would chose another hotel next time.

The hotel is a good basic option near university. There were several private events during our stay which increased the crowdedness and closed access to the common areas (unfortunately).

I booked this very last minute due to a family emergency and needing to be close to UVA hospital. Location was ideal. I didn’t have the luxury of time to research ahead of time, so it was unexpected to have to pay an extra $22/day to park my car. The entire parking system is just plain awful. You pay at a kios. My receipt ripped while printing. I didn’t think it was a big deal until the front desk said there was nothing they could do for me, redirected me to the valet, who directed me to call the help number on the screen, which was the number to the hotel. If booking through a 3rd party site such as Hotels.com front desk is extremely unhelpful in any situation. The hotel room was moderately clean. There was a broken lamp, plugs that didn’t work, and some of the art in the room appeared to have been defaced. I opted for the graduate as I had stayed another of their locations for a work conference and had a wonderful experience. I can promise that the only redeeming quality of this hotel was the distance to the hospital and local stores and restaurants, which I imagine is why it’s so much more expensive that other hotels in the area. Be warned, there is no complimentary coffee or tea, unless you like the instant granulated left in your room with a tea kettle. Completely unimpressed. Would not recommend unless you needed the location.

This property is a unique option in a sea of traditional hotels in the area. Love the decor, easy parking with in/out, and a fabulous rooftop patio and bar that made our trip with awesome views of the surrounding mountains. You need to try it!

It's the perfect location for visiting UVA. But the hotel feels a little run-down compared to other Graduate hotels (and for the price). Not terrible, but also not great. Also - the fire alarm went off several times late at night (evacuated twice), and when I checked out, no one even acknowledged or apologized for the disruption. Probably will find another hotel next time.

Parking was SUPER convenient and had a Tesla charger, but expensive at $25/day. Great facilities and the staff was trying, but the rooftop bar closed early and couldn’t get its kitchen working. Location is SO convenient I’ll definitely return. Perhaps some staffing issues? Everyone was kind.

The fire alarm was going off when I arrived. It didn’t stop for 2 hours. The gentlemen managing the front desk was not dealing at all. He was rude to the customers who were just trying to understand what was going on. He put me in a room on the 6th floor where the alarm was going off. I was supposed to also receive a $20 food and beverage credit and was given a 10% off only food from their restaurant which was closing when I arrived. This was the fourth or fifth time I’ve stayed there and have always had a good experience. This was horrible and I likely won’t stay there again which is a loss since my son just finished his first year at UVA

The hotel room was extremely dirty and the thermostat did not work properly, plus the fan (used for both heating and cooling was very loud). At first I was given one room, the door/room key in that room was not working, and the second room I was given had not been cleaned properly.

Excellent location, friendly staff, but broken lighting fixtures made the room very dark, making the hotel room feel much older. Beds were stained, with an odd scent that further contributed to the old feel experience.

I’ve stayed at numerous Graduate hotels around the country. They all are pristine and clean, unique. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I honestly can’t recommend this hotel. The staff was wonderful. But the conditions of this hotel were sub par. Old, dark, not decorated as nicely as other Graduates. And my room looked like it was not vacuumed. There was hair on the bathroom floor, in the shower; the carpet had not been vacuumed. I thought perhaps it was just my room, but my daughter stayed on the floor below us and said the exact same thing about her room. The lobby just looks and feels dated and old not charming like other Graduates. It’s sad, because these hotels are always my first choice, but I won’t stay here again, and will definitely tell others to go elsewhere as well.

The room was dirty!!!! Carpets were dirty, dust and lint all over the carpet and room, stains it was just dirty and very disappointing as we had no other choice for a hotel it was family weekend. I would not stay here again!

Shower was dirty and had we found large stains on the sheets when getting into bed. Asked for new sheets and second pair also had stains and the worn blanket had a large hole. Also noted some small stains on pillowcases and decorative pillow was missing a button and the faucet was missing hardware. We were too tired to ask for another set of sheets and just slept in our clothes. Downstairs was cute and our room had good style intentions but was a little beat up. Staff was polite and helpful generally. Good location for the hospital but not overly inviting.

The location is great. And the front desk staff is very friendly. We also life the roof top bar and how close it is to UVA. It does seems not as clean as years past. Also for the price - it was low on amenities. The lighting was super limited in the room, we only had two towels, no trashcan in bathroom , no glass wear.

It is a nice property, well located with respect to the University of Virginia. The hotel has only limited bar food at a rooftop bar. There are numerous food options within walking distance, but the majority are college average college fare - pizza, burgers, wings, etc. The Virginian - about a 5-minute walk - has some better options. The carpeting in the hotel is getting a bit old, but is kept vacuumed. We would stay there again!

The hotel is in need of a face lift! It is old and bathroom needs updating. The shower door does not slide well and the toilet has to be double flushed. Other than the gentleman making coffees the staff is poorly trained. I had to ask for my perks and they didn’t know how to credit my account for the food credit. The location is the ONLY reason I enjoyed my stay.

The hotel decor was nice, our room and bathroom were clean, everything had that dated look but I believe that is what they were looking for. The lamp outlets were well worn and did not hold the charger cube securely The outlet by the desk was not working. Shower roller on the glass door was broken so you could only use one of the two doors. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the towels were clean. The room door looked like it had been replaced with a standard door as the rest of the room doors were floor to ceiling. We had to make sure we pulled or pushed the door closed when coming or going because it hung. The roof top restaurant decor was nice but the staff just ignored us when we first walked in. Talking amongst themselves with out even acknowledging us. Finally a waitress walked in and seated us on the deck.It looked as though she was the only one actually working aside from the single cook. The food, burger was ok except for the brown avocado. The turkey club tasted like the meat was day old and had the same avocado. The fries were cold and soggy. In the middle of the night the Fire Alarm went off and we had to evacuate the bldg. The Fire department showed up and found there was a fire system equipment issue and cleared the bldg. We all went back to our rooms and 20 minutes later it happened again. The fire sprinkler system was causing the alarm do to faulty equipment. They finally bypassed the system and hotel maintenance went on fire watch.

The valet was rude and nasty. The air conditioning in our room did not maintain the temperature correctly. It would go on and the room temperature would be comfortable but as soon as the very noisy unit cycled off, it would be extremely uncomfortable in the room. The front desk staff was friendly, helpful, and polite. This is our go to hotel when visiting family in C'ville and had always been great, but not so much this stay.

The property is in a great area and close to many restaurants and bars. It was also walkable to JPJ. The rooms are dated. The air unit was extremely noisy all night and we were unable to adjust the temperature.

The shower was very small and hard to regulate the temperature in the room using the thermostat. Couldn’t seem to get it just right. Either was too hot or too cold. Didn’t see any instructions on to contact the front desk if needed. There was no microwave in my room. Size of the room was very nice and the staff was friendly.

They were not helpful at all and the restaurant’s service and food was awful. I went up the the restaurant and ordered food to take back to my room. Waited an hour and my food finally came out but I had to wait another 10 minutes for the dessert. When I got back to my room and opened it up the steak and fries were cold. The steak was one the toughest piece of meat I’ve had. Also, the server gave me little plastic silverware! Also the brownie was so hard and crunchy, the only thing I could eat was the melted ice cream. When I was done I went down to the lobby to get some water. I told the staff about my experience. He obviously didn’t care. He said that’s too bad and that will be $4.00 for your water. I will never stay there again! There was one person that was very helpful and friendly. He went out of his way to help me. He was the gentleman that was handling valet parking. Save some money and govdown the street to Marriott where they actually care about your experience!!!

It would go on and the room temperature would be comfortable but as soon as the very noisy unit cycled off, it would be extremely uncomfortable in the room. The front desk staff was friendly, helpful, and polite. This is our go to hotel when visiting family in C'ville and had always been great, but not so much this stay.

I have stayed here several times and would recommend it to anyone spending time in Charlottesville, based on its location, cleanliness and ease getting around. I had reservations for several weeks but when I arrived around 4 p.m. my room was not ready, which is disappointing but understandable. However they would not let me check in when I arrived, I had to ask for a place to store my luggage something that should have been offered immediately, also I was not offered any compensation in anyway for my inconvenience. When I returned to check in around 6 p.m. I had to wait in line again to check in, wait to get my luggage, and still received nothing for my inconvenience. On top of all that my room key would not work because my room door was open when I finally got to it, so the key card did not code. It also seems like the front desk is often understaffed and under trained. Someone with hotel service background would have done a much better job of mitigating the inconvenience to the travelers. For the record I was not the only one who had to wait to get into there room, the lobby was full of people waiting to check inn. If it had been me, I would have allowed the guest to check in, asked if they would like me to store there luggage, and offered coupons for the hotel lounge. I would have also had there luggage delivered to there room when it was ready. This is the type of service I expect for a property with there price point.

We stayed multiple nights and never had our room cleaned. I had to call multiple times to get clean towels. The "trophy room" had construction equipment laying around and the parking garage was not functioning without having to call the valet everytime we needed to leave to walk down and let us out of the garage. It was very annoying.

On a two night stay I twice had other guests enter my room as hotel staff kept assigning other guests to my room. I was then locked out of my room each time. Staff apologized and gave me a new key but they didn’t at all acknowledge how big a deal this was nor tell me why it happened or how they work correct this very significant issue.

It is a nice property, well located with respect to the University of Virginia. The hotel has only limited bar food at a rooftop bar. There are numerous food options within walking distance, but the majority are college average college fare - pizza, burgers, wings, etc. The Virginian - about a 5-minute walk - has some better options. The carpeting in the hotel is getting a bit old, but is kept vacuumed. We would stay there again!

The hotel decor was nice, our room and bathroom were clean, everything had that dated look but I believe that is what they were looking for. The lamp outlets were well worn and did not hold the charger cube securely The outlet by the desk was not working. Shower roller on the glass door was broken so you could only use one of the two doors. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the towels were clean. The room door looked like it had been replaced with a standard door as the rest of the room doors were floor to ceiling. We had to make sure we pulled or pushed the door closed when coming or going because it hung. The roof top restaurant decor was nice but the staff just ignored us when we first walked in. Talking amongst themselves with out even acknowledging us. Finally a waitress walked in and seated us on the deck.It looked as though she was the only one actually working aside from the single cook. The food, burger was ok except for the brown avocado. The turkey club tasted like the meat was day old and had the same avocado. The fries were cold and soggy. In the middle of the night the Fire Alarm went off and we had to evacuate the bldg. The Fire department showed up and found there was a fire system equipment issue and cleared the bldg. We all went back to our rooms and 20 minutes later it happened again. The fire sprinkler system was causing the alarm do to faulty equipment. They finally bypassed the system and hotel maintenance went on fire watch.

This property is a unique option in a sea of traditional hotels in the area. Love the decor, easy parking with in/out, and a fabulous rooftop patio and bar that made our trip with awesome views of the surrounding mountains. You need to try it!

Parking was SUPER convenient and had a Tesla charger, but expensive at $25/day. Great facilities and the staff was trying, but the rooftop bar closed early and couldn’t get its kitchen working. Location is SO convenient I’ll definitely return. Perhaps some staffing issues? Everyone was kind.

After spending close to $1000 for a four night stay over the Easter weekend, my wife and I went to the hotel's just opened breakfast bar. After giving our order for breakfast sandwiches, we waited over 30 minutes without being served as others who came later were served. My only critique was the in-room instant coffee, which my companion and I both agreed was nothing short of awful. Fortunately, the hotel has an excellent coffee shop on the ground floor in the lobby.

I had a great stay at the Graduate—it’s the most affordable option with great staff for being close to Uva and the Corner. My only complaint is that all of the coffee creamers in my room were completely spoiled—poured out in chunks into the sink. Luckily there’s a good coffee shop in the lobby with lovely employees.

Location is very convenient to UVA. Near a lot of college restaurants. Walkable, safe area. Accommodations were average - not bad, not great. No room service. Lobby cafe was very limited. Short staffed at desk, cafe and valet. Was at risk of missing my flight because valet was nowhere to be found for half an hour.

This was a nice hotel and very convenient but at the end of the day it was a basic Hilton property they painted to look cute. I felt like it was overpriced - to pay over $250 on a random weekday during the summer when school wasn't in session was excessive. Plus parking is an additional $29. It was clean and an excellent location.
