Best Western Plus Downtown Tacoma

Dining area was closed down, no food vending machines on site. When we booked, the site said dining and bar was opened. Very inconvenient to find this out once we got there, parked and settled into our room.

Where can we begin....Been at a number of Comfort Inn locations and this one was by far, the worst. So many things wrong . . . I'll just list a few below: - NO ELEVATORS COMBINED WITH FREEZING STAIRWAYS INCONVENIENTLY LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THE PROPERTY. - LUKE WARM WATER IN THE SHOWER. - NO ACCESS TO THE EXERCISE ROOM. - PROMISED A QUEEN-SIZE BED AND GOT A DOUBLE INSTEAD. - SOME OF THE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS NOT WORKING. - FAUCIT IN BATHROOM ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN ON. We understand the problems of being under construction but why subject the public to such a miserable stay? ..... The staff was very pleasant under the circumstances and the discount on the return night a week later was also appreciated.

Pros breakfast and comfortable bed Cons no pool

The restaurant and bar were both closed. Part of the reason I booked this was for the cot of having a restaurant.

The website showed a pool and restaurant… neither one exists. It also showed a gym a lot larger than it really was. No ice machines.

Everything was great during the stay, only thing lacked of was parking in the small parking lot. Loved the complimentary breakfast.

Location was a bit far from most things but over all amazing staff! Amazing stay!! Would stay there again. And also loved the parking garage that’s closed off only for guest.

Second visit. Elevators are very slow and one is always broken. It seems to be in a permanent state of repair. Rooms are solid, clean and comfortable.

The elevators were out. It appears this has been for some time. I was called thr night before to update me. There was construction going on as well. Staff were SUPER. I spent most of ny time out and about, so 2asnt bothered other than the big travel from parking garage to the 3rd floor. Super convenient. Bed was comfy. HVAC dodnt seem to be working for heat. I was fiven an extra comforter so it worked out.

Nice last minute stay! The room was really clean.

The room was not cleaned, none of the wall outlets worked. There was a bag over the smoke detector because the last people in the room were smoking. The tub was not cleaned and backed up black sludge all over the tub. Overall not worth the $300 per night. Wouldn’t even pay $100. However the lady at the front desk was nice.

We had two rooms. They were filthy. Each had love seats that were grimy and stained. The bathroom in my room was dirty and I had no towels or soap. My daufhter’s room had a leak from the ceiling right beside the bed. The carpet was moldy and smelly from the leak. We wound up staying elsewhere

Paid for a King bed received a full bed. Mattress was extremely uncomfortable. There was blood on the bathroom walls. The neighbors in the room down the hall blasted music that was rattling the walls and they did nothing about it. Trash hotel

Our room was not clean, the carpet had not been vacuumed, the toliet had urine all over it and our tub would not drain, had standing water in it when we showered and disgusting things coming out of the drain!!!!!! The lady working the front deak, overshared her person information. Like how shes homeless living in her van in the parking lot.

The beds were very very firm, so uncomfortable to me. The shower didn't drain well and there was something on the shower wall

Elevator was out, which was fine but after getting to the 5th floor the room was dirty. There was empty beer can and full 2 liter of soda under the skirt of the bed. Hair in the bathroom floor, sink in bathroom was clogged. The tv had no signal/seecixe

More care is given to lobby than to the rooms. There was hair in the shower and on the bed, tub didn’t drain and a/c didn’t work on the hottest day of the year.

Elevator was out.. that’s fine whatever. Rest of the room for the price paid was just horrific. The bathroom is in terrible condition, the main room has electrical sockets falling out of the wall, the TV is more than 20 years old. That was one of the worst beds I’ve slept on, hate to think how old they are. All that for $300

There is a train yard not far away so you do hear trains. Couldn't turn the AC down further than 68 or fan would freeze. While it was advertised as having breakfast, there is only a grab and go breakfast, but no plates are provided to take to your room. Tub faucet was the stupidest thing ever to try and work. Water was warm at best, with little pressure. Only one of the two elevators were working and from what other guests said it hadn't worked in at least 3 days. This made for quite the wait time for an elevator especially during check in when it is being used by both housekeeping staff and guests. If you had an event at Tacoma dome, it would be a great close place to stay as you might be able to walk to the concert. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it

Parking is underneath the hotel in a locked garage, but it’s just a difficult to get in and out of the garage since the magnetic card works from the left lane of the driveway. The breakfast is a microwave sandwich that you take back to your room to microwave. The floor in the bathroom was raised, but the toilet was not so it was surprisingly low when you sat down!

The biggest negative was unsecured internet. I therefore was not able to do any computer work there. If the wifi was secure, my rating would be higher. Also no local channels on the TV, and some lamps in my room did not work. Fix the internet please.

The place is really convenient for concerts, but the wall plugs were a bit lose so it was hard to charge our phones.

Very close to the dome. Felt very safe walking to and from the dome at night. Only dislike was the toilet in our room was super close to the ground

It was alright. Room was extremely small. Outlets fell off the wall. Bathroom was small. Bed was comfortable.

Rooms are old, had problems with toilet had to move rooms. New room had stains all in the bathroom from maybe hair dye. Should have attempted to at least paint walls.

Poor wifi service

The hotel was severely outdated.

Check in was under staffed. We waited over an hr just to get in line to get checked in. There was only one person checking in people. The manager spent 10 mins yelling at everyone waiting on why it was taking so long. Cars were piled up out front waiting a parking pass. We had no hot water in our room and the toilet didn’t flush. The room was so cold and we were unable to turn up the heat. We did have a decent “free” breakfast and secure parking in the garage under the hotel.

Staff had no clue about concert, i was lucky and only took an hour and half to check in. bathroom had no working light, only one elevator operational and we had to convince staff to let us use stairs. Car next to me got broken into.

Totally overpriced and check in took three hours

The morning/ day time staff makes the place a 5 star hotel. They went out of their way to help us be more comfortable in our room.

Check in Hispanic gal was extremely nice, very informative, and even tried her best to get me set up ASAP. Advised me if I wanted a later check out its no issue at all for 12pm and to just let the front desk know since it doesn't take much effort on their end. Later on realized bathroom had no hair dryer, called front desk and they said they ran out of hair dryers and would try to locate one. Shouldn't there be at least one for every room in your hotel? Ended up waiting an hour with no response, went downstairs to ask, and was told sorry none available. Advised I just wanted it noted just in case the hotel may say I took the hair dryer and was told no need to. So basically, 0 follow up on the hotel service, and no hair dryer in a hotel?? Office chair was also completely broken down and couldn't even sit upright. Also asked the gal if I could have a slightly later check out at 12 as the initial person who checked me has advised, andwas told "it would be too much work to do on their end". This is completely baffling getting two different sides, proceeded to ask why as the initial checkin lady had advised me its a quick thing, and was told "I'm the person for tomorrow morning anyways, so its too much work". Man talk about customer service. I'd rather pay the same next time back to Hotel Murano, only tried this one since its closer to the dome, but man. For the same-ish price, the quality and service is completely atrocious. Props still to the Hispanic gal who signed me in.

This hotel is under remodeling construction (in February 2025). The elevators were not in service. The room could have been better vacuumed. Bathroom was clean. Had to walk to the main desk and ask for an extra blanket and how to get the TV to work. It did work with a few fuzzy channels. Breakfast was nice. Staff were helpful and pleasant. They called us 2 days before our arrival to ask if we wanted to cancel because of no elevator, but there were not other places available on such short notice. It worked out fine for us because we were on the 3rd floor, able to navigate the stairs and laugh about the circumstance we were in.

Took 45 minutes to wait in line in the lobby to check in. Only 1 staff member checking in guests, answering phones and directing foot traffic in the lobby. The lobby was blocked off to the dining area that once was used. Old coffee on floor and table that had been there until it was now dry. Receptionist spent too much time with guests trying to be all knowing rather than just answering the question and moving the process forward.

Desk clerk was on point and very helpful and friendly. Couldnt figure out TV setting she came to my room and walked me and my elderly mom thru it

Do not stay here!!! Took 2 hrs to check in. Arrived at 2:40pm and was checked in at 4:45pm. There was only 25 people in front of me, and it should not take that long. I noticed that Staff gave every person different reasons for the delay talk too. I talk to someone who checked in the day before and it was exactly the same. Only one elevator seem to work with no reason why. Signs up for renovations happening however, from what I can see nothing is being renovated. Rooms are disgusting. I Was just happy that there were no bed bugs and I did look. If I could afford another hotel last minute I would’ve, but that wasn’t in my budget for this trip unfortunately. Spend the extra money to stay elsewhere.

This was my second stay here and I can’t say enough about how wonderful the staff is! I am so frustrated at myself for not getting names but the lady working the front desk and the maintenance man went truly above and beyond to make my stay great! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and the customer service is the best I have ever received at a hotel. Thank you to the staff for making me feel like a valued customer!

A 3-minute walk from the Tacoma Dome!

The best place to stay if you're going to an event at the Tacoma Dome.

Concert was 300' away at the Tacoma Dome. No parking issues or trouble finding the venue. Great free breakfast and nice rooms.

The surounding city area has drug dealers and homeless. This is not the properties fault but is something that should be considered. I do not recommend walking around the street expecially at night. Just Uber. The hotel feels safe and secure. The staff are great.

The parking is in a locked garage which is safe, but not convenient.

Nice hotel. The area isn’t great. But just don’t go out walk’n.

The hotel is located in a sketchy part of town but having a gated parking garage gives me comfort that my car won’t get broken into. The room was warm and clean. Great view of the city/tacoma doom.

Really convenient place to stay when going to an event at the Tacoma Dome. Literally across the parking lot from the dome entrance. The property seemed fine and we did not have any safety concerns. The price matches the quality. There was a pair of someone’s left over socks in our room in a drawer and a piece of hair in a different drawer?? but linens seemed clean. They do have those weird little pillows that hotels do sometimes but the bed was good enough. Will stay again.

Location is easy to get to, but some tent cities and vagrants accosting me and asking for cigarettes etc made for a less than pleasant experience when walking to and from the hotel. Welcome to Tacoma, I guess.

My main reason for this hotel is its proximity to the Tacoma Dome. I attended a business function and convenience was my main objective. There’s a 45 minute bus ride from Sea-Tac Airport to a depot within 5 minute walk from the hotel. There are a few convenience stores within 10-15 minute walk and some restaurants nearby. Downtown area is walkable and has more options for dining. Just be aware lot of homeless people in the area so not advisable to walk alone. The room was adequate since I wasn’t there other than to sleep. The fixtures and some electrical outlets needed work but the room had everything I needed…fridge, closet, shower, bed, desk so everything else was a minor detail. The best feature was the young lady at the front desk and forgive me for not knowing her name but she handle my check in and check out and was helpful directing me to some dining options in the area. Check in was busy and she did great handling the influx of guests mainly by herself. Overall I’m pleased and have made reservation for next years due to it’s convenient location.

Apparently the health department shut the kitchen down and they are unable to serve food.

Rooms were clean but worn. Breakfast was supposed to be included (w/warm food) but instead we were given to go bags with Oreo and chips ahoy muffins(?), hot apple juice and bruised apples and a granola bar. It felt like a bad kids lunch and was all sugar.

Very close to the Tacoma Dome which was a plus. Very dissapointed that breakfast was not available, other than a sack with juice, an apple, a not very good muffin and a granola bar. 2 Biggest reasons we book are convenience an hot type of breakfast.

The front office personnel was excellent, great breakfast as well

The only disappointment was it’s not a free breakfast. It’s a grab a bag and go. Not what I wanted. Like the sit down free breakfast in the morning. Should be listed.

Parking garage had pipes leaking onto cars and very few parking spaces. There were cigarette burns on the sheets in our non-smoking room. The kitchen was out of order so no continental breakfast (one of the reason I chose this place) just a "go bag" which was not great. The staff was very friendly and kind. It's a convenient place to stay for going to a show at the Tacoma dome. I'm sure after the renovation and the kitchen opens back up it would be fine.

Good price for location. Disappointed that free breakfast was not hot but grab and go.
