It's a really unique hotel. A room was larger than expected, everything worked well, and it was peaceful. Because there's no pool there was not a lot of children there. The location was pretty sweet too! Be advised that parking is an additional $20 a day to use their parking lot, and there is very little parking available on the street. We also tried the restaurant which was absolutely fabulous! We had to go back again! We are definitely going to stay here for our next trip to Milwaukee.

Great Location! Walking distance to Shank Hall and County Clare Irish Pub! Hotel very clean, parking super easy….you pay about $20 a night but it’s right next to the hotel ! Thank you for a very nice stay!

The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. At the time of our stay, it was the most affordable in the area. However, the parking situation is not great. There is very limited on site parking available. You are expected to find street parking. We got lucky, but I can see this being very difficult.

I very rarely share reviews, but I loved this property and our stay. I would definitely return and recommend. The building is beautiful. The rooms are spacious. The restaurant attached to the hotel offered excellent happy hour pricing, and great service. The attached spa also offered great service. The neighborhood felt very safe, and we were able to walk to the Summerfest grounds.

I love the esthetics of the building and the unique design which is very true to the historic era. I also love the fact that you don’t have to leave the premises as there is a restaurant/bar, spa, laundry room, everything you need right there.

Nothing was stocked!! The lobby smelled with some kind of spray. The hotel was old. They gave you a key instead of a key card. The hotel was called Knickerbocker on the Lake. Our view was the parking lot. Did not see the lake!! We did walk to a nice restaurant for breakfast called The Palmer House.

I thought this place was really neat. The building has a lot of cool historic architecture. Neat crown molding and floors. The doors for the rooms are cool looking too. The room was spacious. Everything was very clean and smelled fresh.

I’ve stayed here multiple times but rented from owners. I rented from the hotel this time, and was disappointed in the dusty conditions and built up filth of the window sills and the outlet boxes. There were items missing from the suite that should have been there: only one glass, but two wine glasses, no dish drainer provided, no paper towels, nobody told me about any amenities, like ice or coffee. The phone kept blinking the message light and couldn’t be deleted. That should have been cleared for me. The location made my business walkable and I love that location. For the price, I will be looking elsewhere in the neighborhood.

It could use better cleaning. Refrigerator needed wiping down. End tables need wiping down. Bathroom sink had stains. Blow dryer overheated burned my hand and smoke came from the blow dryer. The desk supervisor was not friendly, seemed agitated.

I had a wonderful stay at the Knickerbocker Hotel. Check-in was quick and easy, and the entire property was very clean and well-kept. The room had a neat, old-fashioned charm, complete with actual keys, while still being very comfortable and cozy. The bed was excellent, and I appreciated the eco-friendly touches with large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap instead of single-use plastics. We were disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. The bathroom we found quite a bit of hair on the floor, moldy plug for the bathtub, not clean around the sink. You could tell the bed has been used very uncomfortable.

We were excited to stay at the Knickerbocker due to the great location and photos in the listing, but had a very dirty air conditioning unit that appeared to have black mold visibly inside. We reported the condition to the front desk right away and were impressed with how quickly they addressed the problem by completely replacing the unit while we were away at dinner. The rest of the room seemed fairly clean but it had a musty smell.

The hotel is terribly outdated something reminiscent of Rosemary's Baby. It took three rooms to get it "OK". First room featured dishes in the sink, a deposit in the toilet and no towel service. The second room had garbage in the kitchen, no towel service and an unmade bed. Goldilocks? The final room was habitable. I will nerver, ever stay at this hotel again as long as I live.

The Knickerbocker is a lovely building. We stayed in a two bedroom condo for one night. There was a living room, full sized well equipped kitchen, dining room, office, 2 bedrooms (each with a king bed), two bathrooms (one with a tub and one with a shower adjacent to a bedroom). It was a little worn but overall very clean and tended. The set up was perfect for a stay with my daughter and her husband and daughter. My granddaughter had space to run around and there was plenty of room when additional family members stopped in to visit. It was a perfect, idyllic space. The staff was extremely helpful and everything we asked for was delivered.

The location was fantastic! We could walk everywhere we wanted to go from there. It was great having a suite with a full kitchen! Only downside is the bed was small and the couch that had a foldout bed was really tiny and you could feel every spring in it. Not really sleepable.

Bed was terrible, rooms have stoves with no vents. Terrible smells of cooking from other rooms in morning. Air conditioner didn’t work well. Nice building with bad rooms.

I loved staying at this historic hotel. I had a lovely room that was a junior suite. The only things that I didn’t like was a surprise parking fee of $20.00/day. Also, the window air conditioner unit was very noisy, and hard to adjust.

The size of our room was good and the option of the kitchenette for making breakfast before heading out for the day. The rooms get extremely warm, even in February. He had to keep the radiator on otherwise it would make loud noises which kept us awake. We ended up sleeping with the window open all night. Thank god it was a slow night for the police. We also did not have a coffee maker, as other reviews had stated. We did call down and get one brought up, however the pot was not the correct one for the machine. It was too short so it didn’t reach the bottom stopper to allow the coffee to drip out of the area where the filter and coffee was. Also, there were no coffee cups in the room. Probably would not stay here again due to the heat situation. Not sure what they do in the summer.

All of the staff was super friendly and kind. Check in and check out was super seamless. Rooms are pretty underwhelming aesthetically- but for the price I wasn’t expecting the most lavish room. Cannot beat the location- lots of coffee shops and near to the lake and park and activities. I had a concert at Turner Hall & it’s only about a 4 minute drive away. There was quite a bit of siren noise at night and unfortunately someone’s car alarm went off at about 4:45AM & continued for a bit, waking me up, but also some noise is to be expected in the city. The bathroom wasn’t bad but the lighting is pretty dark. Room doors have a cool old-fashioned servidor feature that history buffs will appreciate like I did. Lobby was very clean and the area feels secure. Maintenance was coming around in the morning to work on the AC unit, around 10AM before checkout-it seemed a bit weird they would request to do that while a hotel guest is occupying the room, but they gladly said they could just come back after I checked out which was appreciated and probably just a one off. Parking was right next door to the hotel and only $20 for the night.

This is an aging hotel, so be aware of that. We couldn't find a thermostat in our room, so we had to leave the windows open, which was quite loud. The room's amenities were clean but very dated. I would not have been happy had we paid the normal rate, but we got a deal. The location is lovely, though and the staff is very nice. Perhaps some rooms are more updated than others, so I would ask for one of those if you consider staying here.

Here’s what’s great: beautifully restored art deco property with all needed modern amenities. Spacious room, kitchenette, walk-in closet. Not so great: front desk clerk was gone twice when we needed help. One absence was so long—15 minutes—that the absence made us late for our dinner reservation. This was early in the evening too—not the middle of the night. When we mentioned this problem to the front desk supervisor the next morning during checkout, she couldn’t have cared less. Terrible: we met a friend for a drink a half-block from the hotel. Walking to his car around midnight, he was brutally attacked and robbed by three men who jumped out of a car. He was one of several people attacked in the area that night, according to the police who responded to our 911 call. The Knickerbocker is supposed to be in one of Milwaukee’s nicest neighborhoods. Larissa at the front desk was incredible! I had some trouble with my tv upon checking in and she went above and beyond to resolve the issue and could not have been sweeter while doing so. Overall my whole experience was fantastic but Larissa's customer service was above and beyond. I support giving her a raise :)

My partner and I were in Milwaukee for the weekend to attend a wedding. We stayed 2 nights 9/1 through 9/3. The first day we checked in, Friday the internet did not work. We were in and out of our room most of the day. The next day Saturday I reported this to the front desk early in the morning and an engineer came and tried to solve the internet problem. We wanted to go sightseeing before the wedding which was later that day at Discovery World. He was very nice and asked if he could come back in our room to get the problem solved while we were out. We said of course. When we returned in the early afternoon the internet was now working but our room was never cleaned. I called down to the front desk and they stated the room would be cleaned before 3. Not only was our room never cleaned we never seen or heard a maid at all!! My total charge for 2 nights with the parking fee was $449.94!! When I complained today 9/3, at checkout time I was told I needed to contact the general manager and was given his business card. I will be sending and email after I complete this survey!! The general manager should compensate me!!

Besides the historical beauty and the excellent condition of the amenities of the hotel, was the incredible staff. Precious, who took care of the front desk, was a stand out. She is amazing at making the stay as comfortable as possible with wonderful ideas and suggestions for things to do in the city.

The hotel is terribly outdated something reminiscent of Rosemary's Baby. It took three rooms to get it "OK". First room featured dishes in the sink, a deposit in the toilet and no towel service. The second room had garbage in the kitchen, no towel service and an unmade bed. Goldilocks? The final room was habitable. I will nerver, ever stay at this hotel again as long as I live.

I loved the location on Yankee Hill: quiet but still convenient to downtown Milwaukee. The Hotel is "vintage," including some older facilities, hardware, and plumbing fixtures, thus it lacks some contemporary conveniences, but all is clean and well-kept.

We stayed in a standard king room. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet. I loved the old architectural features but it may not be for everyone. We ate at their restaurant next door and breakfast was delicious. Will definitely be back.

The historic hotel is in a great area of town. You can walk and take the public transit easily. I love the style of this hotel and it has history. My only issue is the hotel rooms. Have a conventional flair to it, which is kind of bland, not ultra modern and not part of the history of the hotel period. It almost felt like it was slapped together real quick. Knicks Restaurant and bar had terrific food and the service was nice.

All of the staff was super friendly and kind. Check in and check out was super seamless. Rooms are pretty underwhelming aesthetically- but for the price I wasn’t expecting the most lavish room. Cannot beat the location- lots of coffee shops and near to the lake and park and activities. I had a concert at Turner Hall & it’s only about a 4 minute drive away. There was quite a bit of siren noise at night and unfortunately someone’s car alarm went off at about 4:45AM & continued for a bit, waking me up, but also some noise is to be expected in the city. The bathroom wasn’t bad but the lighting is pretty dark. Room doors have a cool old-fashioned servidor feature that history buffs will appreciate like I did. Lobby was very clean and the area feels secure. Maintenance was coming around in the morning to work on the AC unit, around 10AM before checkout-it seemed a bit weird they would request to do that while a hotel guest is occupying the room, but they gladly said they could just come back after I checked out which was appreciated and probably just a one off. Parking was right next door to the hotel and only $20 for the night.

As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Knickerbocker on the Lake. I love being able to walk to Juneau Park safely to enjoy the out of doors. When visiting in the summer, I always take advantage of the Juneau Park Beer Garden. This visit was the first time I ate at the Knick, the on-site restaurant. I had the best grilled shrimp mango salad.

I very rarely share reviews, but I loved this property and our stay. I would definitely return and recommend. The building is beautiful. The rooms are spacious. The restaurant attached to the hotel offered excellent happy hour pricing, and great service. The attached spa also offered great service. The neighborhood felt very safe, and we were able to walk to the Summerfest grounds.

If you want to know what luxury look like back in the 50s this is your place. Rooms a bit tiny. Not sure why room doors seem like coffin lids. You would think they would block of noise. But I could hear that the lady across the hall was having a very good night. Beds were very comfy. Room had the original mini kitchen. Small oven stove and fridge. My next stay I may bring some food to cook. Very close to the lake with a very nice park. Almost next door an very interesting pub I did not have time to visit. Parking on site that is as expensive as all parking in down town Milwaukee. Rental bikes near the car park. Not my first pick but already have another reservation here as my primary choice is full. If your into retro I think you will dig this classic location.
