In hospitality industry service is every important, which was missing. We liked the property but the rooms were noisy and the staff was not so smiley may because of Christmas season they were overworked. They swimming pool time was limited to 45 mins only which is definitely as no no for us as a family holiday destination.

We were staying at the hotel as we had tickets for the Michael Jackson tribute. Convenient location, friendly staff, great food! we always stay here when we are up that way and love it there. Lovely pool and jucuzzi

It's only one floor - but no easy access lift with luggage is a pain. Booking of pool was very restrictive but good when you got there!

Service was good, rooms OK, bathrooms not great. Don't expect to have fun in the pool with Kids, it's a fun free zone! I understand for healthclub type visitors but if you book thinking, 'great the kids will enjoy the pool' it's not worth it, too many rules. (No Jump, No Dive, No under 16 in Jacuzzi etc) Car charging not hotel owned, it was my first charge away from home, required online payment by card (no apple pay) and one charge was out of order, but I did charge fine overnight once I navigated the issues.

I like the Coldra Court, convenient location when visiting Wales as just off the M4, great restaurant onsite and the rooms are always good. Staff are always helpful and friendly and although expensive there is EV charging available in the car park.

The reception, lobby, bar and restaurant are great and although the room was a great size but had limited lighting and plug sockets. Unfortunately the bathroom was a little dated a was in need of redecoration and some new trims. There was mould on the bathroom ceiling which you shouldn't find in hotel especially one of this standard.

There is a £12 parking charge at the property. In 25 YEARS of frequently staying at hotels for work, I have NEVER paid for for parking as a resident. English Breakfast was warmish & sausages tasteless. Flat white coffee was all froth & cool. Bedroom was spacious & there was a sofa. Carpet stained. Z cars was on TV. Odd bathroom configuration, apparently convenient sink separate from loo & bath/shower was confounded by a door that was difficult to close if you were stood by the loo which was just inside the door, you had to step around the door to close it. Average & somewhat disappointing- we won’t return unless desperate.

I would rate this a 3 * as seen on the door upon arrival. No tissues in the bathroom, room not made up as on the website. Suitcase support damaged. My friend & I went out for the whole day yesterday, arriving back just before 10pm to find our room had not been cleaned. Beds unmade, bathroom uncleaned, full bins, tea & coffee not re stocked. Breakfast this morning, lack of plates & waiting around for food to be restocked. Th actual hotel looks like it is used as a home for the homeless. I here stayed in the Celtic Manor which is 5* and unfortunately fully booked on this occasion.

Stayed for 1st time visiting family. It says 4 stars but it really isn't. The lobby looks good with grand piano and open fire, looks impressive. However, the room I was in on ground floor, no view, a brick wall and some service entrance. Big windows, rather dirty and no privacy, workers coming and going outside they could see straight into my room! Maybe a privacy blind? Beds were comfortable, although mine had a noisy spring. Plenty of room and a sofa for comfort. Carpet was stained by the bed, a spill of some kind.Also a stain on the chair seat. Big chip out of bottom of bathroom door and rust around bath taps. Bathroom sink cracked. So I didn't consider it 4 stars. Parking is charged per night at £12:00! I was absolutely appalled! I think this should be more publicised before booking. It's in terms and conditions but I wasn't aware until I got there. Didn't have dinner there couldn't afford it after paying £48 for parking. Breakfast was the usual continental and hot buffet style.Nothing special, very hard bacon and sausages, I couldn't cut through them, not impressed. No one around to tell me where to sit. In fact the only member of staff who spoke to me was a lady housekeeper called aimee, very nice lady. It wants to be posh but it isn't. Overall the dining experience was good but the actual hotel has issues which needs attention. I requested for a room with a bath, unfortunately there was an issue with the water pressure for the bath, after 20 minutes the bath was only 1 inch filled. Maintenance visited but wasn’t able to resolve it. I decided to have a shower, the water pressure was far worse and the temperature was too hot even at the coldest setting. This is a safety issue which I raised with the receptionist. The basic housekeeping wasn’t maintained as hair was found in the bath upon arrival and the kettle was full of limescale. The beds were far too firm so this can be an issue for those with back problems as it causes pressure and trying to sleep whilst getting comfortable is difficult. I've had to wait 20 minutes for a replacement kettle.. I just felt my stay there was a unpleasant and stressful one. Very disappointed with the level of services offered. For these issues mentioned the receptionist decided to minus the £10 for parking which I think isn't fair & reasonable. Overall very disappointed.

Bar staff were not helpful they were miserable .They need to put a sign up saying respect other guests has they may be sleeping as it was very noisy at the end of the night and early in the morning .The staff on reception and staff on the rib grill were very helpful and polite . Excellent hotel for families and great service and food in the restaurant. Really great touches for kids such as Dylan Certificates and gift bags in hotel room. Only issues include the crockery left in hotel corridors that is collected past midnight, secondly the WiFi was very poor as my husband needed to work whilst we were away and he had to sit in the bar to complete his work. Finally, I find it hard to understand why residents have to pay for parking? Some nice touches but let down in some areas.

Great hotel, my only complaint is there is no refrigerator in the room, and it is not close to any shops. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

Overall the property was good. I had some initial problems checking in. My main issue with the hotel is that there are no safes in the room. I need somewhere to lock my valuables for safe keeping. This is non negotiable for me and therefore i will not return. Gives me anxiety

Reception staff were not particularly friendly. Main areas of the hotel were nice and our room was very spacious but tired with the decoration and soft furnishings. The shower was not powerful enough and the tap on the hand basin just trickled. Very dated.

Very hot in the room and very noisy , end room nearest the motorway and expensive at £104 plus £10 parking. Couldn't sleep as too noisy. Room was large, no air conditioning.

Bed was close to door/corridor leading to a fair amount of noise when people were going to bed or waking up in the morning. Room was a good size. Roome set up was odd with a small TV on a cabinet to the left of the bed. Check in and check out was slow with only one staff member on the desk. Gym and pool had good facilities with latest technogym equipment. If a pool and extensive gym is not important, I would suggest staying in the Ty Newport next door for a quieter night and a more modern hotel.

I ordered room service and after an hour it still hadn’t arrived so I called only for the woman on the other end of the phone refer to me as man, I had to re-order my food which took 15 minutes but arrived warm at best.

Really good hotel with an excellent room just on the 1st floor. The night manager was particularly helpful to us providing us with room service as the bar was closed before 11pm. Disappointing for us was that there was no shuttle bus available up to the main hotel where we were dining. Staff were very friendly

Had trouble checking in, said that our booking wasn’t showing on the system. I got charge twice the deposit and was left a voicemail the following day stating that they suspected we smoked in the room and charged my card yet again. Ended up taking more money from my bank account for a false accusation. I have since failed to get any response and can’t seem to get through over the phone. Extremely frustrated and disappointed with the service and unnecessary charge and I will not be returning to this hotel again.

Fifth time staying at the Coldra Court and finally recognised as a Gold member with a room upgrade. McKenzie on reception was superb - upgraded me, welcome gift and ensured a robe was in my room. Hotel is immaculately clean and room has very tasteful interior design with muted tones. Elemis toiletries are wonderful. Leisure facilities great, if a little old. Pool nice and clean. Adult only times should be extended. Breakfast was ok but fried food very greasy. Location not ideal on a business park, but Beefeater and McDonlads opposite. Parking charge is now £10 per night.

The check in host was friendly but the speed to check in with a young family felt like it took along time. This was just a stop over for a night. £50 deposit and £12 parking which i must of missed in the advertising and still can’t see it. Don’t take this away from the property though. Coldra Court is a decent hotel to stay in when visiting the Newport area as it is just off the M4 junction. The upgrade rooms are large, with super king-size beds that are very comfortable, and the bathroom is a good size with a large walk-in shower. Reception is easy to check in, however, they tell you once arrived that the car park costs £8.00 even though you are a resident, then want a £50 deposit off you. The rate included breakfast which was very good and the restaurant food was ok but had to send a steak back, the staff were good and attentive and took 20% off the bill. We had requested a room with a bath on the booking site but were told on arrival we would have to downgrade the room to get a bath which seemed a bit odd. We were told by reception on booking in that we couldn't get a seat in the restaurant for an evening meal until late (8.45) but we turned up early at 7.30 and were given a table in 15 mins. The hotel doesn't seem to take cash for the balance of the room payment on check out.

Stayed for 1st time visiting family. It says 4 stars but it really isn't. The lobby looks good with grand piano and open fire, looks impressive. However, the room I was in on ground floor, no view, a brick wall and some service entrance. Big windows, rather dirty and no privacy, workers coming and going outside they could see straight into my room! Maybe a privacy blind? Beds were comfortable, although mine had a noisy spring. Plenty of room and a sofa for comfort. Carpet was stained by the bed, a spill of some kind.Also a stain on the chair seat. Big chip out of bottom of bathroom door and rust around bath taps. Bathroom sink cracked. So I didn't consider it 4 stars. Parking is charged per night at £12:00! I was absolutely appalled! I think this should be more publicised before booking. Really good hotel, great facilities including the pool and Spa. Staff were exceptional. The room itself was lovely, very comfortable, we had a family room with a shower for accessibility for my disabled wife and the rooms were really quiet. No banging doors all night !!!! Worth noting g that you gave to pay for parking, but the rates are fair. Location is very convenient and you cannot hear the motorway! A really great place go stay and woukd happily do so again.

I like the Coldra Court, convenient location when visiting Wales as just off the M4, great restaurant onsite and the rooms are always good. Staff are always helpful and friendly and although expensive there is EV charging available in the car park.

Enjoyed my visit to the Coldra Court. Booked a family room with 2 queen beds for my sister and I and the room was lovely and spacious. Everything clean, beds comfortable and spa facilities really nice. I would say the only thing that was a bit disappointing was the breakfast. I booked a table for certain time and when we turned up although lots of tables free it seemed chaotic and we had to wait. No plates or mugs on the buffet and food items hadn’t been replenished. I have stayed here before and the breakfast service was good so I assume just because it was Easter Sunday and busier than normal. Nevertheless had a good visit and would use this hotel again.

After a 4hr drive I was looking forward to a bath. The room was excellent. Large bed, large room, nice bathroom, no plug for the bath. Tried to call reception, phone didn't work. Called from my mobile, reported the problems. Few minutes later maintenance guy came, saw the problem,went away. Came back some short time later, no plug to fit the bath. I was resigned to not having a bath but wanted to share my disappointment with a manager. She listened to my concerns, went away for a short time then returned. All problems resolved. Breakfast next morning after a glorious bath, no glasses, reported that, resolved. No mixed fruit, reported that. No plates for breakfast, reported that and that was resolved. The hotel is beautiful, lovely location, super quality. Just let down by a lack of attention to detail. Surely cleaning should have noticed there was no plug. Surely breakfast staff should notice a lack of drinking glasses, fruit, plates.

The pool is a bonus, breakfast does not have much if your on a healthy diet. Room are ok, not sound proof so get woken up at 2am. I would strongly recommend not paying more than £120 for a night!
