An older hotel that has had a modern make over. Staff very friendly and helpful, made taxi reservations, opened breakfast early when we had an early departure! Great bar with a good selection of non alcoholic options! Easily accessible from the M4.

The hotel was so much nicer once you got inside, as the outside is quite shabby. The room was confortable and the pool was nice. They need to keep an eye on filling up the bags for wet costumes though, as theyre wasnt any. The service at the bar was top notch, but the food was very overpriced for what you got. Also, we couldnt eat the sausages as they were raw in the middle. I did politely notify them. Obviously avoided those at breakfast, but the rest of breakfast was lovely. It would have been nice to have been offered a discount of some kind due to the dinner situation, but overall not a bad stay.

No email updating that the pool was closed

Amenities like pool and gym did not work or were locked even though staff reminded us to use amenities daily. There is nothing close to hotel other thank convention centre.

Superb, the staff were excellent and very friendly, ultra clean and large bedrooms, I found the beds fairly hard but comfortable, access to a small gym and swimming pool inside the building, lovely stay .

I booked a family room for myself and 2 friends for an overnight stay. The welcome on reception was 10/10, the room was immaculate and the pool and restaurant. The breakfast was fabulous. I would definitely recommend to others and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Lovely friendly staff and everything very clean.

Reception and bar was nice. Rooms old and dated. Extractor fan in bathroom didn't work and seals and grouting were dirty and had failed.

This was our 2nd stay at this hotel and we had a lovely time. The room was immaculate, the staff are great and the food is fabulous. Will definitely rebook in the future.

A 5 night family holiday to explore the area around Newport and the general south east of Wales. We booked a dinner, bed and breakfast deal and everything worked out fine. Our room was kept spotless and the restaurant staff were constantly keeping the area clean and tidy.

Lovely clean room, the robe and slippers were a bonus. Clair was on the desk very nice and friendly

We had to ask to move rooms. This was due to the entire window wall being mouldy up to about 60cm from the floor. I do not understand how this could have been overlooked as it takes time to build up to that degree. As we ALL should know, mould is a serious health hazard. This is a serious oversight by you.

We chose this hotel for our time out and due to its proximity to Cardiff, Restaurants,The ICC Newport. We also love the Holiday Inn / IHG Hotels, having had very good experiences previously. In relation to the Room we stayed in,NOT GOOD.Room size was great,however we'd describe this hotel as a 'tired old lady..'Carpets faded. Weather conditions in the day were warm and the rooms ran very warm.The Air Conditioning Unit in our room was unable to get to a cool temperature, intermittently blowing droplets of water out into the room. At some points we were in danger of developing heat exhaustion and couldn't sleep at all due to ineffective A/C and ventilation.We contacted Reception, were given one fan which was ineffective. In the end we had to have two electric fans operational and set at MAXIMUM for most of the time that we were in the room for our safety and wellbeing. The iron lit up but didn't heat up, therefore unusable. We informed reception...in the end, another guest who overheard us at reception lent us their iron which was so very kind...The very old looking and tired phone didn't work, even after someone came up to our room and made some kind of adjustment to it. This was so inconvenient when we wanted to book meals and make enquiries etc. The available meals in the bar / restaurant were fair. Nice bar / Restaurant areas. Breakfast great.Staff Lovely.I think it was Rhys and Gareth who welcomed us on arrival; lovely, professional, informative staff team.

Not a place I would stay at again. The first room I was given had a strong smell of smoke despite being smoke free hotel. I was then given an executive room on the second floor which was far better. Cleanliness was good but the whole place apart from the breakfast and bar needs updating. Staff is nice and accommodating.

The location was great, as well as the staff and the food/drink quality and selection. Regrettably, the facilities are very dated, and below the standard I’ve come to expect for a Holiday Inn. I’d certainly stay again, mainly because of the staff making me feel welcome, and the quality of the food and drink. However, the rooms are dated, heavily lacking plug sockets, the WiFi doesn’t reach a lot of areas of the hotel, and the facilities in the room feel ancient. For the price paid I would have hoped for a better standard of room, but aside from this I had the same great Holiday Inn experience I’d expect.

Staff were super friendly on arrival and went out of their way to meet all of our needs. We arrived early and got our room straight away so that I could shower and get to my venue in plenty of time. All reception staff were brilliant throughout 👏 Rooms were fab and beds were SO comfortable!!

Stayed with my child who lived the sky tv, great shower , lovely breakfast , friendly staff, great price and close to the icc which we were visiting so perfect location. Would stay again

The rooms a looking tired, but are clean. Staff attendance was poor, we waited at reception to be checked in and there was only one member of staff serving at the bar in the evening and then they disappeared each time a beer needed replacing or to replace empty wine bottles.

Everyone works here is friendly and cosy decor overall, quiet and quite green made it very relaxing stay. Breakfast was nice with small attention to details like removing excess oil of fried egg with bread bottom lining was a particularly nice touch. Overall it did not feel like staying at a typical chain hotel. Not for anyone prefer to stay at modern and flashy place as building is dated, if not highly recommended, never write review myself normally but this place deserves a good review.

Really impressed with my stay at the hotel. Emma was excellent with our check in and going the extra mile delivering excellent customer service. The food from the bar at lunch time and the breakfast was excellent. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend to other people.

My elderly parents stayed here and I asked the hotel to look after them. They were delighted! The staff were super helpful and they had a great room. They could not have done more. Thanks!

It was great. We really enjoyed the room, breakfast, and we went in the pool before we checked out. The pool was a bit cold. Most of the staff were great except for the lady who checked us in. She was terrible.

Convenient for motorway users

I would recommend this hotel it’s very convenient to the ICC which is about a 8 min walk with foot bridge over the motorway. I met my sister in law in the evening and we had a meal in the restaurant only criticism would be the chips were not very appealing. I would stay again very good value for money

A short drive from Cardiff city centre and a reasonable price

It's an older hotel. The management does an excellent job of keeping the property up, but IHG should invest some money in this location. It was super convenient for the meetings I had, but I would probably choose a newer hotel for my next visit.

It was almost like going back in time to the 80's. But it was clean and pleasant. Welcoming and nice. Easily accessible to the M4 and walking distance to ICC.

Very basic and old very hard and uncomfortable bed and pillows definitely not sound proofed rooms food very poor and just reheated bathroom very old bright light comes through from under the door heater doesn’t work so was very cold wouldn’t stay in a holiday inn again very poor

Stayed for night away with my husband not far from him just a break. The staff were all very lovely, there was a new gentleman on the bar training he was so polite and friendly. The menu was good as was the food and very quick service. The room with upgrade was very nice bed very comfy. Breakfast was ok, the restaurant itself was lovely but found the breakfast lacking! Coffee machine was great better than being served. Evening restaurant/bar was very very cold. Overall very nice.

I had a very comfortable stay at the hotel. Perfect for my preparation to run in the Newport Marathon. The food choices were good and the staff were friendly.
