Athena Inn is consistently a great stay for the money. We stay here at least twice a year and always choose it as our spot when driving between MI and FL with our two dogs, which are always welcome here. Very clean and simple no-frills rooms with vinyl plank flooring, LED lighting, modern, clean-lined laminate furnishings and solid surface countertops. Beds are comfortable with crisp, clean, white linens. Heater/air conditioning units seem up to date. And did I mention the SHOWERS?!! Crazy ultra modern 4 zone waterfall shower heads with shampoo and body wash dispensers mounted on the shower wall...and with clean, rolling glass doors. This place is no Ritz Carlton, but I've never experienced such a low budget hotel stay that is so clean and up to date. Plus the friendly staff makes for a fast and pleasant check-in experience....even when we roll in and wake them up at 3:30 am after battling construction, accidents and worst of all...Atlanta traffic! Perfect quick overnight stay for us every time.

The room was very nice, clean, and very up to date. The outside of the building was also very clean and seemed pretty updated too. The parking lot was a bit tight but we’re in a very large truck so that made it a bit more difficult, it would have been fine for an average sized vehicle though. The girl at the check in was pretty focused on knitting than us but she wasn’t overly rude. Overall, I would definitely stay here. It was a very affordable price and nicer than a lot of the more expensive hotels in this area.

This is my second time staying here. Again it was a stay for the price. Very clean, quiet rooms that are anll updated. The shower in my room was outstanding... It’s very high tech & spa like. Only downside is there isn’t any parking for big box trucks, trailers, or camper type vehicles.

Parking is a little tight. Other than that I was pleasantly surprised. Great area… a lot of stores, shops & restaurants in walking distance. Room was a nice size & clean. Rainfall shower head in the bathroom which was neat. Very good selection of cable channels. Easy check in & out.

This property is built on an older motel style, i suspect a former rodeway inn or similar hotel. Despite the property's age, it is kept in good order. My room was very nice, modern style with a multi-faucet shower! The staff are quiet folk but very friendly and polite. Everything in my room worked, and was clean. Now, no place is without its caveats. This location is next to a busy road which you’ll find running rampant with the sound of modified exhaust well into the evening. The AC units are older below window style, so it pulls in the humidity with the air. And maybe this is a personal gripe, but the water tasted a bit over chlorinated. Maybe thats just how chattanooga's water tastes? I didnt get sick or anything, and i drank quite a bit, but it was definitely not a great mouth feel. Relatively small things considering the value of the room and the updated room amenities. Would definitely stay again!

Check in we got a room next to office. We were on motorcycles and there was 1 space at our door. The clerk said we couldn’t park both motorcycles in a single space that it is illegal. Are you kidding me? He wanted one parked around the back where we couldn’t see it. We wound up parking it in the street. No one was ever at the desk. You would have to call and wait for them to arrive. There was some sort of a food/spice smell that was unpleasant. We were approached several times by a homeless girl at the edge of the property. She always asked for money. Not a good location.

This hotel was quiet and comfortable. Allows pets for a reasonable fee. We were traveling to pick up a puppy a long ways from home and it was very nice to be able to stop and rest ourselves and the puppy for the night.

Not the cleanest place, room service is super loud in the mornings while cleaning neighboring rooms, breakfast wasn’t a breakfast, bed had hair on the sheets. Lastly, we found a cockroach in the bathroom.

When I booked, I saw the property had a very high rating. Not sure where that rating came from, pillowcases were yellow, gray, and worn. One of the pillowcases had sketchy looking spots on it,Towels were also very worn and gray and the stack of two washcloths had the very clear imprint of perhaps a coffee mug. Which makes me think they clearly don’t change out all of the towels between guests.

Terrible place! I just needed a clean place to stay one night after a long drive. After reading the reviews meticulously, I thought it would be good enough for the price. No, this place doesn't deserve a penny. Long story short, bed bugs, a dead roach, heater fully covered with thick thick dust, hairs on the floor, and moldy shower booth including walls and floors. Seriously, it completely ruined my sleep schedule cus I couldn't turn the lights off or lie down comfortably on the bed after finding the bed bugs! I have videos and photos! I wish I could upload them here. The staff moved me a different room but that room also was filthy! Don't waste a penny. It will be much better to sleep in your car.

The room was very well lit and auper clean. The recessed lights gave off a lot of heat but the a/c offset that. The bed was fabulous. Breakfast was nothing to write home about bit other than that it is a great hotel

It was clean but had a smell in the room that was musty. The shower was very nice though. Fridge and microwave worked well. It was good for a quick overnight stop. Breakfast was cereal or small muffins or donughts. And warm sunny delight. I picked it because we needed something Along the highway and breakfast included. We had to go to McDonald’s. It wasn’t the word but could have been better

Looks like they are trying very hard to make this a nice place, is a motel with only a cess to rooms via parking lot, and can feel unsafe for some. Very noisy place at night with city traffic and emergency vehicles.

Not the best neighbor, tons of folks outside hanging around and smoking. Room smelled like an old ashtray and urine. Nice size room, however, the roll down shade and curtain need to be replaced, there was a at least a 6" gap form the wall window to the shade, they just need to be replaced, you can completely see in the room with little to no effort. Desk chair was broken, no were left to sit but on the bed. Super noisy and not a safe area.

The shower was fantastic--good water pressure, instant hot water. Fairly new, good-flushing toilet. There was a long shelf along the back wall and an office chair giving me room to put my stuff to fix food and to put my laptop and briefcase. Fast internet. Refrigerator and microwave. TV was on a 6' long double shelf on the wall that gave more room to set things.

You get what you pay for. Beds were comfy, room was clean. Lots of highway noise, and children playing in the rooms above us. Linens were grey and dingy. Check in was a nightmare.

It was my fault that I didn't read all of the policies, so I had booked this not knowing that they had a no locals policy. This means you cannot stay there if you live within a 40 mile radius. As hotels.com would not give me a refund, I called the property back and they said that they would accommodate me if I paid a $100 cash deposit, and we would get it back after they inspected the room. So I do appreciate the accommodation. The parking is very tight. Everything was clean. They have small breakfast - cereal, orange juice, muffins, breakfast bars, fruit. We surrounded by conveniences though. The receptionist though didn't really feel welcoming. Seem to be more skeptical of everybody that comes through the door. He went over a list of rules with us like we were teenagers or something - tobacco products on site, no alcohol, and don't make any noises because it's late. Other than that, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower was amazing. It had three different angled shower heads.

Arrived at 2:30AM after a long day of traveling, and he made it seem like I wasn't going to be able to check in. Not easy to communicate with. Seemed more interested in when we were going to check out then letting me get checked in.

I debated on how to rate my experience due to some challenges at check in. As we know, first impressions are everything. The desk worker at check in wasn’t the most pleasant and the lobby was locked (transaction was competed through a small window between entrance doors). We got to the room and walked in to a very pleasant surprise! The room was very modern and in pretty good shape. There was a large tv, cable, a microwave and refrigerator. The bed was comfortable to lay on, but not as comfortable to sleep on, that was just personal preference and does not reflect on the motel. The shower was upgraded, but not all of the nozzles functioned. I do not fault the motel for this. After check in we were not bothered by anyone during our three day visit. We were in the ground floor which I typically hate, but there was not excessive noise from other guests or environmental noises. If you factor in the cost of the stay, we got a phenomenal value for what we paid. Overall, I would stay again.

Returned after first day to a bathroom leak - no one was able to fix it at the time - but the front desk did provide extra towels - but didn't offer to clean it up either. No compensation was offered (and I did not make any request). The front desk was not manned and on 3 occasions (early and late) there was no response - just an empty window.

This motel was relatively clean, fairly well maintained and comfortable, however, I was told not to use the vending machine because it "eats money". The general area seems a little sketchy, and there were motorcycles and cars racing well into the night, which was rather noisy.

Clean and modern , laminated floors , expensive shower , good mattress Only bad thing was the check in process, I was tire of driving 12 hours and the night clerk got confused and could not find my reservation and gave my room to someone else I was very tired and I didn’t like it , I’m giving 4 star because the motel is very nice , clean and spacious Because of the incident in the chec in process I’m not coming back I brought huge and delicious mangoes from south Florida to give and share some with them , but after the incident and lack of professionalism I decided not to give it

Parking is a little tight. Other than that I was pleasantly surprised. Great area… a lot of stores, shops & restaurants in walking distance. Room was a nice size & clean. Rainfall shower head in the bathroom which was neat. Very good selection of cable channels. Easy check in & out.

We’ve always stopped over to Athena on our way from Maryland to Mississippi and it never disappoints. It’s not a 5-Star hotel and is in a sketchy-ish place, but it’s always been safe and comfortable. My only complaint is the “Continental Breakfast” seems like the muffins are always served the same day they go out and that’s really not safe, but outside of that it’s a great One Night stop over.

The room was very well lit and auper clean. The recessed lights gave off a lot of heat but the a/c offset that. The bed was fabulous. Breakfast was nothing to write home about bit other than that it is a great hotel

Room was clean. Housekeeping was nonexistent. We had to beg for towels and wash cloths daily. If they brought towels and wash cloths it was just a few, not enough for everyone in our room. They also turned off the AC making it warm in the room when we returned. The breakfast was not a continental breakfast, packaged muffins and such.

Not a bad room for the price,if you are just stopping for a few hours rest. Room was clean. Couldn't get the shower to a warm temp. Seems Only the hot water was on . The first got breakfast the staff was yelling at the guest and have a disagreement. The people are loud here. Parking is bad, you can get hit at any minute. The staff does not seem like they want to be helpful
