Capitol Plaza Hotel Jefferson City

I usually like staying at this property, but this particular trip has me questioning if they will have my business again. I booked my trip online and was surprised at check-in when I was required to pay $10 for the privilege of parking my vehicle in their parking lot. No mention when I booked online and I was never charged a fee before. Is this how they are going to treat “Guests” I. The future?! What will they be “nickel and dime Ing” me for next?

Everything was worn down. Surrounding area in the pool room needs a total redo. No cleaning materials in workout room. The waterfall in the lobby was not working and neither was the air conditioner in my room. Did not have enough staff. Water in lobby was always empty and coffee was $4 a cup for 4 ounces. Breakfast was $15….very disappointing

The room was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant was closed but dinner food was available at the bar. There was no coffee available for grab and go in the lobby at 7 a.m.

Elevator from parking garage broken for months. Staff slow and a long line.

Adverttised as having a restaurant and bar. Both were closed. Would not have stayed here if we knew that ahead of time.

The hotel was very dated. The walls of the room and the carpet were not clean. The towels were very rough. The boxspring on the bed was dated 2005. The pool was closed for maintenance. The fountain in the lobby was not working. The bed was not very comfortable.

The elevator from the covered parking garage is out of service AGAIN. The areas in the parking lot are full of trash. The rooms temperature control does not work correctly.

Dated and in need of total renovation. Understaffed. Breakfast buffet was mediocre at best and everything is SALTY! Dinner decent. Only two guest elevators for a nine-story hotel and one of them out of service for hours.

Pool was cold

Hotel was disgusting. Poor smell, bugs, nasty bathroom. Overall disgusting experience I will not choose this place again. A full refund of this stay is needed

I had 3 roaches in my rooms and that cause me to check out. Also the sheets was dirty and my room didn’t have no refrigerator or microwave in there. I was really disappointed it felt like a motel

Very easy check-in process after booking on Expedia. Bed area was ok but a little dirty. Bathroom was very dirty in shower and shower curtain had lots of stains on it.

The staff were the best....very friendly but the cleanliness of bedding and shower curtain wasn't tolerable. Towels had stains that should not be visual because if washed properly and being white woukd not look dirty. Shower curtain had apparent mold stains from need of replacement. Small frig has been neglected in its cleaning routine as well.

I booked their executive suite for 8 days with my son. The room was nasty. It smelled, there was a lot of rust, and there were lots of food crumbs and dust under the sofa. The ceiling paint was bubbling and peeling. The maids didn’t come, especially on the weekend, and the trash can I put outside the door was untouched for days. Even if it is free, I will never step foot in their rooms again. I am so disappointed, especially because I am in the executive suite.

We were not given the type of room that we reserved. There was a damp, dirty towel On the sofa bed when we opened it. I had to go to front desk to get linens for sofa bed. The bathroom floor was dirty with grime around the base of the toilet. There was significant water damage on the ceiling in the shower. When I turned the shower on, the water was brown. It eventually cleared, but I was NOT going to use that water. They offered breakfast, but not until 7, but I don’t think we would have eaten there after seeing the brown water from our shower faucet. Overall, I’m sure this hotel was nice in 1984, but from the looks of it, it has not been updated since.

The first room we were given had a leaking ceiling. The second room was infested with fleas. We entered the room long enough to turn the lights on but our legs were covered with fleas by before we saw what was happening. Horrific experience. Stay away.

Staff was excellent. However, my room was disgusting. Wallpaper was peeling off (and it was grimy and stained too). The heat/cooling was a complete guess and I either was burning up or freezing. No chair to use the desk. Very shocked at the poor quality of the room.

Room was very clean, but one light bulb was out. There are only two small lights in the room, no lamp on the desk, no microwave, no refrigerator. The sink would not drain and the toilet ran on and off all night. The AC didn't keep the room very cool and the water in the shower was lukewarm with the handle turned all the way to hot.

The hotel is very old and dated. It smells musty. My room was like staying in an armpit- smelly and hot, the ac was on but didn't cool the room. I called the front desk who sent up a maintenence worker, but that did nothing. Plus the carpet felt gross.

Friendly staff, easy check in. Why is there no mini fridge and microwave in the room? That’s crazy to me. We counted on that and didn’t have it.

It was a good hotel, great location. Just a bit outdated. You could tell it was a really nice hotel in its day.

No heat because older building that uses boiler system for ac and heat can't do both at the same tome.

I love the layout of this hotel. It brought back memories of the sixties. However, the hotel is in need of a makeover. The air conditioning system actually looked like it was built in the sixties.

I had very little water pressure and no hot water. Also in my room, I could set that I wanted it warmer or cooler but not an actual temperature. My room was very cold for my stay.

This place was awful. First off, they switched the room we booked with a smaller room with a double bed when we had originally booked a king executive suite. At check in, they had no explanation other than they gave our room to guests who checked in earlier, and that they were sold out for the night. When we got up to the room, it was dirty, with the bed sheets balled up on the bed, and had obviously not been cleaned after the previous guest. When we went back down to the desk and waited in another long line, she was able to “swap” our room for a regular king room which she let us know was someone else’s room who hadn’t checked in yet. I asked if we would be refunded or prorated the cost of the more expensive room that we had booked, and she said I would have to contact the manager as she had no authority to change the charge. The manager of course was not on duty on the day of check out so I will be trying to get into contact with them but it’s clear that this hotel and its management is deplorable. I would never stay here again and would recommend against anyone booking a room here as clearly booking a room does not actually guarantee that you will get one or that it will be what you booked.

I have been scheduled to stay at this hotel but when I came to check in, nobody was there I was not able to check in. I was charged for the room and when I called them to tell them about it, they said I was checked in. I told them no I was checked in at a hotel down the street. Ask them if they had a copy of my ID or signature of me checkingM they never called me back and refused to refund me

In a band, called a head to inform of late check in. Upon arrival would not let me check in, although my traveling partner checked in two hours before me. Front counter staff was rude. Have experience better customer service out of a cow. The location has been utilized before.

Nice hotel, staff nice. The only complaint was with check-in. I waited in line to check in for 1 hour and ten minutes, causing me to be 30 minutes late for my meeting. There was one person checking in customers and one watching. I heard from others, that the reason was the computer was down, but staff didn't say anything and then it was apparent that the staff didn't have her password to log in. This should have been explained and a better solution when you see over 20 people waiting to check in. Other customers were late for busses to the capitol, etc. Better communication for a nice hotel like this would have added a lot to the experience.

When I arrived at this hotel I was told my room was unavailable and I accepted a downgrade. The front desk clerk then added an entire new room to my portfolio and charged for both. I’ve spent 10 days trying to get in contact with a manager to resolve the issue. This hotel takes no accountability and no communication. I’ve left my number and email with multiple front desk associates just to receive nothing back. The first time I called I left my email and was told the manager would contact me later that day. They never contacted me so I called the next day and left my number being told the manager would call me later that day. I never received a call so I called again and I was told manager would be in Friday but when I called there was no manager. Was told wait until Monday and manager will be in but when I called there was no manager. Was told again manager would be in Tuesday and yet again when I called there is no manager. I will never ever even think about staying here and I recommend to anyone reading this stay as far away from this hotel as possible.

Clean, friendly, easy access, great staff.

One of the best front lobby experiences I have had in fifty years of staying at hotels. The desk staff was friendly and helpful and the cleaning personnel worked so hard to keep everything clean.

The staff is so welcoming and accommodating! I would recommend on that alone. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but in a convenient location across from the capitol building.

This place was perfect for walking into downtown. Close to the capital building, amazing coffee shop, and delightful pubs. She’s an older hotel, but loved the convenience and location so much!

Perfect location to visit Jeff City next to the Capitol in the prison. Absolutely lovely downtown. Also. Conveniently located for biking the Katy Trail after arriving on the Amtrak.

Very accommodating staff. Only a short 5 minute walk to the Capitol grounds. Easy on and easy off from major through highway, US 54.

This hotel was great for the price, my room was huge. Tons of parking and very conveniently located. I didn't get a chance to eat in the lounge. My only criticisms would be that the breakfast was very underwhelming for the price, and there were no vending machines, though there is a small store with limited options. Staff was excellent. Overall a great value.

I like this classic hotels better than the in-and-out express hotels along the highways. Very nice people, very quiet. I think we were there on a weekend when there were not a lot of visitors in town. The AC wasn't quite as cool in our room as I wanted, but close. I will stay there again next time. Very good breakfast, though not free.

I had a fun time visiting Jefferson City and part of it was this hotel. Centrally located, very comfortable, and just what we needed. The restaurant was great in the evening and breakfast in the morning was terrific. Staff was friendly. The beds were comfy and the room was clean. We had everything we needed. Plus the cost was reasonable.

Close to MO state capital and downtown. The room we were placed in initially had no air. Front desk said that we “needed to wait to have maintenance take a look”. We insisted on changing rooms and did get a new room. Why didn’t front desk offer that immediately? Poor customer service. The breakfast buffet was poor. Scrambled eggs with zero flavor. The coffee was great. For 15.00, it was not worth the money. Wait staff were exceptionally kind and professional.
