Came to Manchester to go see Peter Kay. Few minute walk away from the arena. In the city centre. Has a pub attached to the hotel. Worried about noise but once we were in our room it was silent. Very impressed with this. Very clean. Lovely staff and had a great breakfast in the morning. Would 100% stay here again.

Check in smooth, very friendly receptionist, manned 24 hrs/day. Room recently refurbished, quiet and warm. I was on top floor. Hotel is right opposite cathedral and exchange square. No outside noisecafter midnight. Good hot buffet for breakfast. Hotel is undergoing much needed refurbishment. Staff very helpful and trying hard. Did I miss the write up that it is above a busy pub?

Overall the location was great and parking was convenient and close by. The reception desk was hard to find as was the hotel entrance as you had to go through a couple of corridors and narrow stairs. There is no lift which was fine but the stairs sre narrow and winding. The building is beautiful outside but in need of repairs. The room was clean enough but smelled horribly of vape and pot which made our stuff stinky. I wish we would get so.e refund for that. The staff though was courteous.

We had a great stay at the Mitre hotel. It was for my birthday and the hotel was perfectly located. We used the SIP car park (Harding Street Arches) which was £11 and a very convenient 5-10min walk from the hotel. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough to help us. The hotel had been refurbished since I last stayed here a number of years ago. And our room was lovely. The hot breakfast was good, nothing too fancy but really enjoyed it. The only thing I could highlight is that there are quite a few flights of stairs to the rooms and if you have mobility issues or sometimes struggle with stairs like I do, I wouldn't advise yo stay here.

Sorry, stayed here before so thought would use again, should have looked at travel lodge availability. Beds ok but cleanliness of showers etc not good. Stayed a second night in room 24 heavy rain during the night kept awake by sound of dripping water obviously roof repairs needed toilet seat in shared bathroom top floor broken. Ok for a sleep i suppose.

We love this place as a bar and somewhere to eat.. We should have left it there. My wife has always wanted to stay. Positives - it's in city centre. Negatives - On arrival my wife found a packet of tablets on the floor suggesting the room hadn't been vacuumed. No air con but staff provided a fan, to be fair the building is 200 years old. Bathroom, shower is awful like you put in a bed sit. Bedroom - Sides are sticky, not sure been wiped down. Bed not comfy and made a noise everytime moved. General stuff - Kettle doesn't fit under bathroom sink so doesn't fill properly. Arrived back after a concert and asked reception for a bottle of water, £1.50.. We are in a bar, she did offer to go get me a pint of water, but told her it was fine, as to hot to be running up and down.. Anyway, will drink/eat here, but sadly will never stay again.. £154 room only.. Nope!!

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever been too, the dirtiest place I’ve ever seen, the carpet hasn’t been cleaned since the 90s and the carpet on the stairs was meant to be blue but it’s so dirty that it turned brown, the carpet on the stairs is literally coming off, no lifts at all but when you go up the stairs you feel like the wood is going to break. Public toilets no private ones, as soon as I checked it and got to my room didn’t even sit on the bed because of how disgusted I was I just threw the key on the bed and left and never came back. I got out of that place so quick because it stank never wanted to stay there for an extra second

Our room was next to reception, the main door and at the bottom of the stairs so we heard every sound which kept us awake throughout the night. The room had no window, which we knew about, but we couldn’t use the portable air con unit as it smelt when we put it on, making the room stifling hot. There was also loads of blue pen marks on the white fitted sheet and quilt cover. Thank goodness we were only staying one night. We won’t be coming back

I wouldn’t stay here again apart from the hotel definitely showing its age all the floors are uneven, our bathroom floor was literally slanted. The walls are paper thin, we could hear the next rooms conversation word for word. I could get over all of that but my biggest issues was the mattress was so thin and hard my back is only just recovering now and the room was absolutely freezing ( probs because the windows either didn’t shut properly or they are just so old) this hotel is cheap so if you’re going for a night out in Manchester and get very drunk it’s a good hotel for anyone else not so much

Stay was horrendous. Small room and tiny bathroom which you to need to negotiate carefully not to bash your toe on something. Bathroom had a Maserator fitted to pump water out as did all other rooms . Every time someone flushed or ran water the noise woke you up . Tables been put away outside around 9pm were all dragged about the place instead of lifting them into place . Woke up with the noise again. Walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the room next to you . Couple next door decided to have sex with the headboard bashing of the wall around midnight . Woken again . All in all managed about 4 hours sleep and was going to work early . Shame as the bed was comfortable. Oh and limited tv channels no reception on normal channels . Creaky floorboards . Good location for the shops but no use if you are going to work . Far too noisy . Glad I only booked for 1 night to try it out as I was going to book for the week . Sorry but won’t be back . Was knackered all day at work with lack of sleep .

Was smaller then I imagined. Bathroom was very small, to the point you have to sit on the side to use the toilet. The room was very hot and only a few rooms have windows. There was fans in some rooms - however mine didn’t. Again, some rooms had clothes hangers and a stand. Others didn’t. Overall it was pleasant and the staff were lovely. You can access the hotel 24 hours by buzzing the intercom and someone will let you in when you say your room number. Your right next to the arndale centre and your in a central area for shopping, dining and great transport links. Around 15 min walk from the Piccadilly station. Would rate 8/10. Will be back!

Some of the rooms are extra small and not fit for couples, but the staff are very helpful and address the issue. We started in room 37, which was more suited as a single room not double. The toilet/water system is loud as it’s a macerator. Sitting on the toilet, touching the shower screen, while being a contortionist was not ideal (especially for the money paid, which I could have got cheaper in a top branded chain). Our second room was much bigger with room to move about. Creaking floorboards (easy fix) means you hear other rooms moving about. I appreciate it’s an old building, but it can still be modernised while keeping its charm & character. No room to put anything away, or hang towels in bathroom. The staff are more than accommodating. They made us feel welcomed and as mentioned, addressed all our issues. Would I stay again. Not my first option. If it wasn’t for the professionalism of the staff, I would have rated much lower. But it was the staff who made the stay worth it.

Hotel in a great location with a fab breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Only complaint was that we stayed in the apartment and it was a bit of a pain to walk through a low door to/from the bathroom and bedroom. This was through the bathroom also. Bathroom door also didn’t shut properly and didn’t have a shower facility. However we made it work and for the price, we made it work. Otherwise everything as described.

The room was nothing more than a converted cupboard. The temperature in my room was totally unbearable and when raised with staff, the nonchalant attitude of you have a fan was disgraceful. The bathroom was again absolutely tiny so much so I had to sit on the toilet side on - I am 5’8 !! This hotel is just not fit for purpose and I wish I had read the reviews before booking, I was there one night and frankly that was enough for anyone. If I could have got into another hotel I would have moved I asked who I should speak to about my stay and again was greeted by a shrug of the shoulders and told there’s no one here to speak to Absolutely dreadful

Good location. I've got a room by the entrance and the room was not isolated good enough so it heard a lot of noises. In the morning it sounded like an elevator was going up and down so it was quite difficult to have a good sleep.

To be fair to them, I did get a good nights sleep and breakfast was not bad. Other than that the whole experience was kinda poor but everything I’d expect for £44 a night. Service wasn’t super friendly at first when we were greeted with what seemed like a girl who had only just started the job. She didn’t really have a clue what she was doing which probably isn’t her fault. All you really need on reception is someone who knows how to talk to a real human being with some sort of enthusiasm. The upstairs floors look like they were made to replicate the Pennines themselves, I’ve never walked on floor so uneven and squeaky. Obviously this is quite an old building so I can’t imagine they can do much about it but they could have at least levelled it when the carpet was first laid. When we got into our room, the beds were made (not sure why we got a single and a double bed when we only wanted a double room but that’s irrelevant I guess). There was peeling wallpaper and scuff marks covering all walls and ceilings, a literal inch hole punched into the bathroom door (which was basically made out of polystyrene), the bathroom floor was pretty dirty; not with dirt, but with what looked like a combination of dust and shredded toilet paper and bits. Obviously wasn’t vacuumed before check in. No full length mirrors at all in the place. Oh, and their advertising for 20% off all f&d for guests isn’t real. Running out of characters now but overall a solid 5-6/10 for the price.

The gentleman who checked me in was very professional and friendly. Check in was very quick. The room was a good size, very pleasant, clean and the bed was comfy. Check out was less pleasant, the woman at reception was on the phone and stayed on the phone whilst checking me out. No pleasantries, no "I hope you enjoyed your stay". Breakfast was fantastic, all self serve. The hotel is in a great location and is very quiet.

Obvious fire safety risks and thus this hotel is a risk to life Electrical wires hanging out of damp ceiling. Extension wires roughly attached to walls, sockets falling apart - not clear tgat no bathroom in the room - Noisey pub below Shift manager Holly Beckan? Just not possessing basic knowledge required to have appreciation of threat to customers or need to resolve issues - staff training seems poor

The Mitre hotel is central to shopping and the printworks.The bar area and staff are great which left me a little disappointed with the rooms. They are very dated and in need of an upgrade including the carpets on the stairs leading up to the rooms. Reception area however was fine. Great chap on reception, very friendly and even knew which room we were on checking out. Breakfast could have been better and the very young staff could do with some training on moving a bit quicker and being more friendly. Really looked like they didn't want to be there. Dinning area was a bit sticky from the night before, not sure if the floors had been mopped properly. Though there are some negatives, we would stay again as beds and pillows are comfy. The rooms just need upgrading as do the bathrooms.

The hotel room was very unique. We had to go through a tiny short door through the bathroom to get to our room. I didn’t mind that, it was just different than anything I’ve ever seen but it made us laugh. What I really missed was a shower, there was only a bath available. And the breakfast was pretty bad but it was free…other than that it was a beautiful property, walking distance to every thing and the staff was very welcoming

Very dirty, bathroom tiny, macerators going all night, could hear all other guests coming and going walls paper thin could hear tvs! Woken up at 6 with barrels in pub next door clanging about! Milk was off at breakfast, nothing on offer like menu stated ie pancakes, avocado only Buffett which was not v well stocked . It was located perfectly for city and staff were really friendly!!!!

Very friendly welcome at reception with lots of useful info about the hotel and area. Room was reasonably clean but refurbishing was going on in the corridor. My veggie sausages got forgotten at breakfast but staff were nice and gave me a bonus cappuccino while I waited. Buffet was a bit limited and scrambled eggs were terrible- definitely not worth paying for if it's not included. Room was very cold, space heater was provided but obviously not ideal to use that all the time.
