Spacious standard room with big bathroom /shower, had a safe as well Bed was very comfortable. Pool was fairly large as well as the Steam room but was disappointed that there was no sauna. In the heart of Cardiff. Recommend

The hotel was cold, the atrium lobby had a wind blowing through it, the bar / restaurant was cold and my room was cold. So disappointed that this was not sorted in a 4* hotel. The only saving grace was the leisure club, pool which was sedate, calm and ... warm !! The reception staff did a lot of smiling and onedid action a heater for my room, but I felt they just didn't care about guests comfort levels on the whole.

We had 2 rooms, both nice enough but 1 room had broken air conditioning and that was not repaired during our stay. Biggest gripe was the swimming pool was out of service and that is the main reason we booked that hotel.

The hotel was ok but not 4-5 stars ,the health suite was awful, we booked this hotel because of the health suite as our son has used it before, the health suite was tired, the jacuzzi was broken and has been for 4 plus months, the steam room had either no or very little steam, and the pool was really cold way below the levels it should be (we have our own pool so know the regular temperatures) we spoke to numerous people who all said it was really cold and some were members who regularly go there

Great hotel, lovely big rooms, fantastic pool, steam and jacuzzi with a nice view. Really nice breakfast and friendly staff. Right opposite NPC car park, with a discount code from the hotel so very handy if you're driving in and it is close to the centre and Blackweir Fields!

Disappointing. Room was spacious but tired, dusty and there was mould in the bathroom. Air conditioning wasn't working so the room was hot and uncomfortable. They provided a fan instead when we complained, which didn't really help. Have previously stayed in various Park Plazas elsewhere so expected a similar standard.

No view in the twin room, was on to other rooms and dark. Carpet badly sagging and dirty. Cleanliness not up to standard, hairs in bathroom, floor not cleaned. Chair dirty and marked. Disappointing.

Rooms showing signs of needing updating, initial room didnt have A/C /heating working, so we were upgraded to a junior suite. A/C and heating worked in new room but no radiators or heating situated in the bathroom which seemed strange in this day and age. Also shower showing signs of needing a refurb quite mouldy in places. Room sofas looked well used and in need of an update. Bed wasnt the comfiest, had better recently in a Premier Inn. Lobby area and bar spotlessly clean and staff were extremely helpful in both areas as always.

An unclean bedroom that had a stock of food for someone who has stayed on a permanent basis. Raises with reception, nothing happened not comments, nothing!! Disgraceful!!

Quite dated and basic, not worth the price. Overall looks clean but when you look closer you can spot a lot of dust. No hand soap in a bathroom and staff still didn’t supply it after I asked few times. TV super old. Spa and pool is small but alright. Not a terrible experience but not great either, was expecting more based on reviews and star rating. I wouldn’t go back.

We were upgraded this was because the first room we were given had no air-conditioning and so much dust on the front of the wardrobe that you could write your name in it… I was thankful for the upgrade

Walls were paper thin so we could hear everything happening next door, windows didn't close properly so no sound proofing from the traffic of the road despite paying for a "tree line" room. Room was okay, nothing special especially at the price. Room service was excellent however with really tasty food. Facilities are excellent but you go to a hotel to sleep and we couldn't really do that with all the noise. From the room we were in, I wouldn't class this as a four star hotel. When we mentioned the issues, hotel staff said we should have said something during the night. What are they going to do? Come to the room and install soundproofing? Turn up at 2am with screwdrivers to fix the window? That's a blanket response to shift responsibility onto the guest because I'll guarantee despite us saying about the window nobody will have been sent to fix it before the next guest stayed in the room.

We were attending a show in New Theatre which is situated next door, it was such a convenience to get out of theatre and literally walk 2 min to our hotel. We requested queen bed and it was massive. Very good night sleep ,even that our room was facing a Main Street ,but it was lovely to look out of the window to the night life time.i was impressed with lovely light but fluffy duvets which kept us warm all night.i stayed with daughter who wakes up at 6am everyday so it was a bonus that she slept peaceful and sound till almost 8 am. Overall very good experience and very affordable for a price which we paid.

Liked having a fridge. Excellent breakfast choice, better than most hotels these days (sadly).Being given the quiet room requested. Adequate coffee making facility. The only negatives were the awful design of the taps for the bath, shower and wash-basin. Also the extortionate, unfriendly and time consuming car parking. That alone would stop me staying again.

The air conditioning does not work. The rooms were 26 degrees and windows did not open. Staff offered us fans which just moved the hot air around. Avoid at all costs in Summer.

The hotel was lovely and clean, with a spacious room and bathroom. The pubs/clubs are right next door and will keep you awake unless you are joining them of course or have earplugs ! I would have joined them but had to be up early unfortunately, they were having a great time ! A bit of a Karen comment ... but would have been nice to have had a sachet of hot chocolate, along with all the herbal tea and coffee when I was losing the will to live in the early hours. Sorry to be negative and if I was out partying myself then I would stay again for sure.

The room was standard, slept well and the bed comfy. On arrival reception staff were polite and courteous, we were advised to book for the restaurant that evening, we did, but they were not busy so entered 15 mins before the booked time slot - this caused confusion for the staff. The food was lovely but service very slow, to the point we felt ignored - it took almost two hours for a main and desert. We were not offered a dessert menu so had to follow a member of staff to ask for one. Bery unhappy

Great facilities but 40 mins to check in at 3pm as rooms not available. Asked to wait in seats. Was informed after 20 minutes would be 5 minutes and then chased after a further 20. Room generally clean but stains on carpet and surfaces in the bathroom. Pool good and Hume well equipped and clean. Staff nice but need to fix check in, delays and get the carpets cleaned.

The location of the hotel was good and overall the experience was fine, but I had a major issue with the air conditioning in my room. Unfortunately, it didn’t work, and despite raising it with reception, no one ever came to check it or offered me an alternative room. This meant I was stuck in an uncomfortably hot room throughout my stay, which made it difficult to relax or sleep properly. What I found most disappointing was that, when I raised the issue again in the morning, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the problem. A bit of care and accountability from the staff would have made a big difference. The hotel itself is decent, but the lack of follow-up and customer service around such a basic issue really let it down.

Hotel was lovley and well presented. It was clean and very welcoming. The front of house staff were so polite and professional and really helpful. However, when using the spa facilities we found 2 female members of the spa staff unhelpful and 1 was extremely snooty and rude. We were told when we booked in that when we go down to use the spa facilities to take our room key and card as evidence we were guests staying and to obtain our robes and slippers. Upon asking a member of staff for these items she called over another lady who has such an attitude saying that robes and slippers were not part of our hotel booking (despite being staying guests). She called reception to check our booking and frankly I found it extremely rude to hear “So these guest don’t have robes and there for they must pay correct!” All with an “I told you so” attitude! We were told we would need to pay £10 each for these! This put us off the rest of our stay in all honesty. Needless to stay we did not use the facilities the following morning. The front of house staff however were wonderful and the hotel itself is beautiful. Just check your booking for these items or take your own.

Nice comfortable and quiet hotel in the centre of Cardiff ideally place for some shopping, bars and visiting the museum. Very nice spa and pool. Our room was directly opposite so bars and a night club which was a bit concerning, however, we didn’t hear a thing, room widows very well insulated. Parking expensive at £32.50 in the NCP directly opposite the hotel for 24 hours, but you do get a 25% reduction from reception.

Great stay in Cardiff. Great room, excellent breakfast. Brilliant location for the city centre, but I chose it for it’s excellent access to Bute Park, and the city’s quiet and beautiful neo-classical civic centre.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. The location is excellent for the centre of town and the castle, with convenient parking across the road at the NCP. Rooms were a decent size, clean and had good facilities - nothing unexpected but everything that we needed. The bath was particularly comfortable - normally we find them a bit narrow.

A nice hotel with very friendly staff. Clean but a little dated. As an example, USB plug sockets sould be standard nowadays. Anything else is dated or being done to a budget. Its probably a good 3 star rather than a 4 star hotel. Evening meal read well on the menu, but the execution was poor and quite a disappointment. However, they were busy because of Beaujolais Day, so may have been a one off. Breakfast on the other hand was fantastic and very well stocked. Overall a pleasant experience and I would stay again.

Bartender spilled my cocktail didn't offer to remake or top up. Bathroom tap so stiff that you had to use force so then water went every wear. Breakfast was cold so had to ask for a freshly made item.

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Park Plaza. My only complaint is that we booked this hotel specifically over others because of the steam room and jacuzzi and neither were working. I dont feel the price reflected this. If we had known we would have booked The Mercure instead. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly.
