Lots of construction. Roof repairs ongoing. Offered an upgrade but wanted us to pay for it. Beds were uncomfortable. Cookies were a nice touch. Close to park and botanical gardens.

In my room there were huge holes in the curtains, stains on the chair and it hadn’t been dusted in a long time. The daily cleaning did not include the bath tub-very disappointing for the cost of the room.

We had a very lovely stay in this hotel. It was very clean, the room (including the king size bed!) was of very generous size. The bathroom had a bathtub and shower cubicle with high quality complimentary toiletries. The breakfast had many different options, both from the continental range as well as cooked items. Overall, if we ever visit Christchurch again, we will stay in this establishment.

We were in room 252 next to the stairs and lift. The room suffered from high noise levels when the lift or stairs were in use. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. However, there were no drawers to unpack our clothes into. The chairs in the room were uncomfortable to sit on. The breakfast was good.

We arrived at 2pm and at check-in, told by a very nice clerk, that our room wasnt ready and could we come back! Granted, she stored our luggage and directed us to Hagley Park. 3 hours later, at 5pm, we were told again that our room wasnt ready. My husband threw the check-in guy a laser eyes angry face and suddenly, there was a room. Overheard other groups being told the same thing about maintenance being held up. Thats okay, but it was obvious that people had been given a late checkout, causing a backlog. And very inconvenient for everyone else arriving. By the time we finally got into our room, tired and unmotivated to go find dinner, we opted to eat at the restaurant. Well, walking in gave us an idea of how the meal was going to.go. Small.town tea room feel. Anyway, hungry, we sat. Staff were friendly and attentive, no fault there. Entree was duck parfit. Not parfit, but a roll of pate, sliced in thick slabs, not dissimilar to dog roll. Flavour was okay, but thick to eat and 3 bits of bread was not sufficient for the 3 slabs of pate. I had scallops with pistachio crumbs, to be fair were cooked well and delicious. No need for the odd orange sauce. Husband had lamb shank. 1 shank for $44. Flavour and seasoning were disappointingly absent. Meat was however soft. I advise you plan your stay and what you will eat. And apparently there is a heated pool that is open till 5pm. Would have ben nice to put our feet in at 2pm wheen we arrived!

I was excited to stay here. Half the rooms have view of parking lot, was asked to change, did not get a friendly response. Chair in room as dirty, couldn't get wifi to work. With the poor customer service I decided I didn't want to stay 2 night. Manager say call Hotels.com. I did and they were so helpful. Spent one hour on the phone. The manager on duty declined my cancelation! Had to go down and argue and hotels.com stayed on the line the whole time. This place isn't cheap and am willing to pay for a good room but the Manager was so terrible. Left early and went to a much better hotel like 5 mins away. Would not recommend to stay here, super overated.

Easy to get to. Didnt like getting a phone call at 11.30 to be told to move out at 12 noon when I paid my bill and told receptionist that we would be gone by midday Did like getting only 2 two towels in the bathroom. No map of the city available. Asked receptionist for directions to a local bottle store. They didnt want to help. totally unhelpful.

The gardens at the hotel were beautiful. It is set amongst mature trees and each room looks out onto gardens. the fish pond was unique too. The restaurant are bar were both very good with lots of options.

We though everything was pretty good except our dinner that we ate in the restaurant. We had a reservation for 7 pm and ordered fairly quickly. But our order took over an hour, I had a steak, and it was warm, vegetables were cool, the potatoes were the warmest on my meal. The sauce was cold, like out of the refrigerator. Being from Canada the sauces are hot on our steaks not ice cold. The waiter said he was sorry it took so long. He never came over to see how our meal was or if we wanted anything else. Was not a great meal. Had the rest of our meals away from the hotel as were so disappointed.

Was perfect just for accommodation for 4 people. Had 2 x twin rooms, large comfortable beds, was quiet, enough room for luggage etc, tea and coffee in the room. Nice hot water and good water pressure. Shower space was small, but nothing to complain about, nice bath also and had robes provided. Lovely restaurant buffet breakfast in the morning with great service. Would stay again.
