Meliá Cozumel - All Inclusive

Food was good and service was great. Bartenders made sure you were taken care of. One of the things I liked best is there were plenty of seats by the pool and on the beach. You didn't have to set your towel on the chairs at 7am to make sure you had a seat that day. Not a lot of night time entertainment for adults but only 8 min taxi ride to the Port. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff is friendly and welcoming in the hotel, bars and dining areas. The people at the front desk are incredibly helpful. The system for reserving cabanas and the staff who run it are not as helpful. We made a mistake in reserving got yelled at and then got no service on the beach for the second week of our stay.

Al llegar se tenía clausurado los dos restaurantes y se improvisó el desayuno en el teatro, para el segundo día en la noche se abrieron ambos restaurantes. Tiene una área llamada level que tiene privilegios, son las misma a instalaciones pero se acordona el área, nos tumbamos en unas sillas de playa y nos pidieron retirarnos, aunque el área que no era level se llenaba. La reservación a los restaurantes a la carta se separan por semana y se llenan rápido, no puedes reservar de un día para otro, y depende de los días que te hospedes el número de veces que puedes reservar. La limpieza estaba excelente, habitación, restaurantes, incluso en la playa recogían el sargazo que llegaba. El personal es muy amable, todos en particular en los restaurantes y en el bar que aunque estaba lleno atendían con prontitud.

The property is beautiful. We stayed in the Level Up rooms on the on beach. While there was a ton of seaweed in the ocean and really not swimmable, the resort next door had none and that is where we went for snorkeling and swimming. The staff were excellent. The swim up bar was awesome, but it was closed for the last three days we were there and that was a bit disappointing but the lobby bar was open and staff made sure we had drinks when needed. The food is just okay, but we did not have high expectations so it was fine. Breakfast in the Fish House never disappointed. We all had some sort gastrointestinal issues and could have been from the buffet as it was hot and a lot of flies. I would most definitely visit again, but never again in July as it is just too hot.

It’s a small all inclusive resort. I’ve been to the Melia Cancun and Riviera Maya which is why I picked this resort for my visit to Cozumel. At first I was a bit dissapointed. It felt limited. The pools are small, limited bars, no beach service, small buffet area, only two reservation restaurants that were all booked but the longer we stayed I warmed up to it. The staff is very nice, found a nice beach area to the left of the resort. Very relaxing and family oriented .

Friendly and accommodating staff. Property is in a nice location at the north end of the island. Lots of activities for kids and adults. Would definitely come back!

Very well kept and maintained resort with a great variety of revolving evening shows for each day of the week with everything from magical performances to traditional mexican dance and music. The beach is well kept and the water is crystal clear with minimal amounts of seaweed. Pherhaps the only letdown would be that the Fish House and Taco restaurants left us wanting more with sublar food options. This however was more than made up for by the buffet which offered well prepared food with each day having something from a different cuisine. The snack bar was also a great option for lunch with excellent basically resturant quality burgers. Overall this is a great option for those looking for a quiet family or couples friendly resort vacation

Melia is a great place to stay. The restaurants, bars, pools, beach, rooms, etc. are all nice. Work out room is adequate as well. We did participate in many of the activities. Volleyball and aerobics were fun. April does a great job running her tasks. I feel like the other staff in leadership roles do not know English as well as she does. But that is my fault, as I know zero Spanish - lol. The entertainment was adequate, most of the day staff work hard to put shows on at night. The magic show was very cool, especially the shadow puppet master. The ocean in front of the resort was the only downer. The water was brown for 3 or 4 days and we snorkeled and swam at the neighboring resort. The water did clear up at the end of our trip. The snorkeling is amazing just south of the resort. The bartenders and waiters were all fantastic. My wife and I did participate in the level option. The feature is really not necessary, as the other two rooms that my family stayed in were not part of the level and we did everything together with no issues. I would go back. This is the first time staying at the Melia, but we have been to Cozumel many times. We love the beaches, San Miguel, etc. We have never had a problem staying on this island and will continue coming.

Nice hotel, but food is not that good and there is only very few restaurants. If you don’t pay level, most likely you will have trouble finding beach chairs with shadowi

Stayed one night and couldn’t leave fast enough. The main buffet food quality was awful and the roof of the dining facility was being held together by a giant tarp that was blowing in 20mph winds. The hotel buildings were all covered in dirt and grime, they looked like they hadn’t been scrubbed and painted / refreshed in a long time. The bathroom was tiny and flooded during showers. The in-room safe was broken when we arrived. The mirror was covered in mold. Overall, this hotel is suffering from decay and lack of upkeep. We’re very disappointed at the cost as well as the experience because we’d stayed at a sister resort in Playa two years ago and had a wonderful time. Do not recommend going! Stay elsewhere

We loved our time at Melia Cozumel. The staff were all very courteous and friendly, with special thanks to Sandra in the dining room! Our room was great and the whole complex was always kept very clean. There were lots of activities to choose from and the beach was really nice. Any time we needed help, staff were quick to respond and very helpful. Definitely plan to go back.

Melia is a beautiful resort. It was my first time at an all inclusive. Unfortunately, after the 2nd day there I realized that I had some bites on my foot. For this reason I avoided the beach on day 3, thinking it may be sand mites. After sleeping in the bed again I realized that these were bed bug bites. I do bot want to speak negative of this resort, because i enjoyed my time. But the cleanliness should be better.

We had a great time during our stay at Melia Cozumel! The staff was warm, welcoming and went above and beyond for us. The resort itself was clean and had a lot of on site activities (volleyball, mini golf, game room). The only thing I would say was to be sure to make a reservation the day you arrive or else you will be eating the buffet for dinner every night. The food was your typical all inclusive resort food. The beach and pool were amazing, we had the most relaxing time.

Shower and beds were nice. Old beach towels for bath room towels. Fridge very small. Smell of sewage throughout property.

The cleanliness is top notch. Hotel staff are very friendly. There’s variety of food to choose from. If you prefer quietness away from the hustle and bustle downtown this is the place for you.

The staff are the best of any hotel I've ever stayed. The facility is clean. I like that there is an adult pool. The coffee bar is great. It's a $8 taxi ride to downtown. The alcohol containing drinks were so bad. I recommend paying the higher price package for top shelf alcohol. The food is similarl to other all inclusives. There is very little shade at the beach and the palapas that are there are always saved by someone who claims them early and then rarely even sits under them. It is probably worth it to pay the extra money to get the special drink package and additional privileges as there are more palapas for those guests in a seperate area. Our room always felt wet and smelled of mildew. When I returned home, all of my clothes, belongings and suitcase smelled of mildew. It was difficult to sleep at night due to the sensation of always feeling damp. Bathing suits and wet clothing will not dry if on the patio because it's too humid outside. They will not dry inside of the room because it is too humid. When we arrived the room smelled so strong of air freshener that we had to air it out for a few hours. My guess is this is done to cover up the smell of mildew initially so that you will not ask to change rooms. I have stayed in hotels in Cancun, Cozumel and Riviera Maya and have never experienced my room feeling wet and smelling of mildew. I would like to return to the hotel as I really like the staff but I will not do so because of condition of the rooms.

Small property located on a beautiful stretch of beach. Staff was exceptional and very friendly. Rooms were very small and always damp and stinky. Food was below a average based on our past all inclusive experiences.

Cleanliness of room okay except for the dead cockroach in the room.

Garden view rooms it’s very noisy music in the afternoon… since loudspeakers are pointing towards the pool you get to hear all the bass coming out of the loudspeakers back which usually sound horrible.. do not recommend these rooms if you like to sleep the siesta

Wonderful staff, very friendly and accommodating. The Level rooms could use a little updating but other than that our stay was Excellent!

The resort had good amenities for families, including 3 restaurants, kids pool and adult only pool, bars, indoor and outdoor activities, etc. we went as a couple for a week in August 2025 and we were disappointed to learn that one restaurant was not operating due to mosquitoes. This limited us to the main buffet restaurant and a restaurant where we could eat max 3 times during our stay and had to reserve specific evenings ahead for the week. The main buffet restaurant had poor climate control and was very hot during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests were looking for the coolest spots to sit, but the overall temperature was hot and sticky with loud fans trying to cool the place since the air conditioning was ineffective. The main concern was the smell in the rooms. A mixture of strong mildew and industrial cleaning products, which was unpleasant. The bedding felt damp and our clothes were also damp throughout our stay and smelled terrible upon return home. Nothing we have experienced before. The service overall was average with a few very friendly and helpful members of staff and a few most unfriendly and unhelpful - a mixed standard almost confusing they worked at the same resort. We made the most of our week by heading to the south part of the island where the beach was stunning and the waters were clear, which fortunately made for an enjoyable break.

The hotel's location is inconvenient, far from local attractions. Cost of taxi to downtown is $20, one way. The best days of the rooms are already behind them, and the operational damage is very visible. The hotel beach is OK but the water is cloudy and full of seaweed. The food is monotonous and average. All drinks taste the same and are super sweet. The compensation is the hotel service, which tries their best and is of a high standard

Love the look and feel of the resort. Room was good and ocean view was worth the premium for us. Beach Bar was open as saw swim up bar. The bummer for me was the food. The buffet was better meal than any of the ‘reservation required’ meals which were usually bad.

Bathrooms were small and outdated

I’m sad to say that this will be our only visit to a Melia 1. We booked in October. At the time our kids were 12, 10, 7. We did not think about birthdays. Our oldest turned 13, before the trip, so she was charged as an adult and it was $500 extra. Because we were 5 it requires 2 rooms. It would be good if Expedia required you to put the date of birth for the kids and flagged any price increases. We would have thought twice about this hotel. 2. Our first room was very warm and humid, when we arrived. Giving the benefit of the doubt that it’s Cozumel and summer I gave it time to cool down. The thermostat was on 22, the room was 24, everything was damp. I called and asked for a new room. They said they would send maintenance, at this point it was 8:45PM. He finally came at 9:15. Walked in and said, “oh it’s very humid.” The front desk then called us and said that her coworker said we wanted a new room. I said, “no her coworker walked in and confirmed what we originally said, the room was not removing the humidity.” We were moved to a new room, the process took till nearly 10:45. This new room had the AC running on auto from Monday night till checkout on Saturday. It never stopped and the room ran between 22.5-24.0. It also was humid but at least the sheets were not damp. We were on the 4th floor. Our friends were on the second floor and had to sleep with their AC off most nights because it got too cold. Not once did anyone check to see if we were satisfied.

Loved our 4 night stay at Melia. We had a very spacious room with a gorgeous ocean view. Room was clean and had all of the amenities we could want (robes, slippers, toiletries, stocked mini fridge, coffee maker, plenty of water bottles, furnished balcony). We did the Level Grand Premium room and loved the room and perks like the breakfast in the Fish House Restaurant and beach service by the adult pool. We only saw our assigned concierge at check in and never saw or heard from him again during our stay, so don’t book for the concierge (not sure what purpose he had). The expansive beach and relaxing atmosphere make it an ideal place for couples. There are plenty of cute sitting areas and gorgeous views all around. Fantastic nightly shows provide entertainment. The food was pretty good. Something like a good cruise ship buffet with a few gems. We hope to be back soon!

First time at Melia Cozumel. Enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly, grounds and rooms were clean and well kept even though it is an older hotel. First time at an all inclusive so not sure how to rate the food. It was about what we expected for a buffet in Mexico. Acceptable if you’re not a food snob. Drinks were fine and bartenders were always friendly. Ediberto was the best. Forgive my spelling. We are already planning a return trip to Melia.

This appears to be an older property, but is well maintained. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are a lot of activities geared for children. The Mole Taco and The Fish House restaurants were very good. The buffet was decent. Not a huge selection but all food was good (except the mashed potatoes and the scrambled eggs - ugh). Beach was gorgeous.

Awesome service from the moment we arrived up until we departed. Definitely will return to Melia Cozumel.

Gerardo was our concierge. He was outstanding. Diego, Ian, Arturo Willian, Santiago, and many other bartenders/servers worked hard to make our stay amazing. Zoe was a very very sweet soul to me. Dr Diego and his paramedic were also very amazing. The service at this resort was just top notch. I had an amazing time. I will be back!!!

The were very happy with our stay at the Melia Cozumel. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. Gerardo was our concierge and he did an awesome job! Diego, Ian, Antonio, Daniel, Martin, Francisco, Roberto, Liliana and Rosa just to name a few did a wonderful job.

I have no complaints about the cleanliness of the resort and the staff was very friendly. I won’t stay at a Melia resort again mainly because of the food/restaurant situation. Getting a reservation at one of the restaurants was nearly impossible. We stayed 5 nights and got to eat dinner somewhere besides the buffet only once. And even on that occasion, the restaurant only had 3 tables being occupied. Aside from being able to eat lunch at the snack bar (only one side of the menu is free, the good food is going to cost you a lot of extra money), we were left to eat every meal at the buffet, and that food was average at best. And if you want room service, that’s going to cost you $10 each time, I’ve never been to an all inclusive where we would be charged for room service. They advertise on the website all these activities for the children, which we felt very misleading, the activities were extremely limited. Good luck getting a pool chair at the adult pool, all the chairs had towels on them but no people. The only people at the pool were sitting at the pool bar, so I’m not sure who the towels belonged to. The only open seated were reserved for “The level” and they were always unoccupied. The family pool was great, plenty of seating. The shows at night were really good. I think this resort puts way too much effort into “The level “ (better seats, better liquor, extra eating areas). I’ve been to several all inclusives, this place has too many road blocks on what’s “included “.

We had a wonderful time at the Melia for our vacation. Our concierge, Alfonso, was so helpful and amazing. He made our stay extra special. We’ve been coming to Cozumel for years, but this was our first stay at Melia and we will definitely be back.

There is not a lot around the area besides being able to walk to the Lobster House. But when we have walked felt safe and a nice walk.

We had an amazing time and it was gorgeous, we did not level up and honestly the only thing we missed out on was a nicer room with a better view. Pros: Food was good, even at the buffet. I had read a lot of reviews that said otherwise and was nervous but ended up being happily surprised. We could always find something we enjoyed at the buffet no matter what time of day. The drinks were great and the guys at the swim up bar were awesome! Honestly, all the staff were awesome! However, a standout for us was Abril, with the entertainment, she was awesome and remembered our names throughout the trip! Karaoke was our favorite night entertainment, everyone got involved and it was great! Room was always cleaned, beach was beautiful every day… and we would snorkel next door too, both were great! Cons: there aren’t many, but if I had to list something it would be the reservation process for the two restaurants on the resort. We were able to eat once at each but I had to be in line to make a reservation before 9am to make sure I could get one. When you have excursions and do a lot off the resort that makes it difficult. We didn’t really receive a tour when we arrived so a lot of it was us just finding things on our own. Outside of that, I don’t have a lot of negatives, it was a beautiful place, with great staff. I think some people that come here only focus on the few negatives or are very picky… If you decide to come here relax and enjoy paradise!

Tranqil non in town option.

Meliá is truly the best bang for your buck! We went for our honeymoon and they surprised us with a door decoration and a bottle of wine. All the food was great - no complaints! Only had to wait in line for breakfast at the omelette bar, but that wasn’t too bad. All the wait staff are phenomenal! They are so attentive and friendly. Room view was great! The only small complaints are that it got a little noisy at night with machinery and the spin bikes at the gym were very, very outdated. They did have a lot of activities available for both adults and families. If you don’t mind being away from downtown, this is a great spot! It’s not walkable to the shops, but the taxis are very safe and reliable. We did rent a Jeep for one day and that was really fun. They did have water sports available there, but it was very windy so we did not partake. Overall, we were very pleased because we just wanted to relax.

The staff was very very nice and accommodating. It was very relaxing and in general a nice place to stay. 10 minutes from downtown shopping, in my opinion, the perfect distance and only a $10 taxi drive.

The property is beautiful and a great location on the beach. The beach is walkable and felt safe. The resort is slightly out of town so you need to take a cab (unless you are into walking a few miles each way). There was a lot of activities for the kids and well planned. We felt the pools were chilly and used the Caribbean more. We wished they were slightly heated for days that it was too rough to swim in the sea. We were disappointed in the reservation experience for restaurants. The Mole Taco and Fish House both require reservations that were difficult to get due to them always being full. But when you walk by there was always a minimum of 8 tables open even though there was said to be no reservations available for the night. The hotel also needs to hire more staff to clean up after guests (since guests seem to think they don't need to clean up after their selves) as there was always used towels, cups, etc left behind by guests and they were not cleaned up until evening causing chairs to not be usable by other guests and birds to come around and eat off the plates left. Our flight was delayed and so we missed a day of our reservation. It was disappointing that neither Expedia or the resort would work with us on a refund or resort credit for the day we missed out on that was out of our control.

This was a smaller all-inclusive property. The staff was great, the food was good, the beach was beautiful. Well within walking distance of several great restaurats.

Liked close location to airport, 10 minute drive. Rooms were clean with good views. Not pressured to buy upgrades and other services. All the staff helpful and happy. Can always find something to eat and drinks can be upgraded if ask for a specific liquor. The beach was surprisingly nice with beautiful sand, niciest Cozumel beach seen. Would recommend the location as a higher economy resort.

Food at buffet was very hit or miss. Breakfast by far superior. Hard to get into reserved restaurants, especially for larger groups. Otherwiss stagg is excellent, grounds are well kept and nothing is far away on the resort. Smaller and quaint.

My husband and I truly had a wonderful time. Really the only thing that I could want to improve on would be the food at the buffet. I feel like if more authentic Cozumel/Mexican food was served that people would be more able to enjoy it. Italian night not so great and Asian night was OK. I will say there was one dish that was absolutely amazing and that was the chicken dish. It was thighs and drumsticks and a really yummy Asian sauce.
