Lovely hotel great location for the Palace Theatre, not to far from the city centre (15mins walk to the centre 18mins to the corn exchange) a number of bars andeateries along the way. We drove in and parked at the local NCP car park (pay at the hotel and get a discounted rate £24 for 24hrs) the car park is a very short walk from the hotel and very secure unless you have your car parked there then you cannot get access inside.

Absolutely loved our stay. Gorgeous grand building and rooms, but still warm, welcoming and fun. Lively bar with brilliant DJs playing soul, disco and jazz the weekend we stayed. Breakfast was delicious, although busy so service was slow, but not really a problem as such a lovely place to hang out. Kids enjoyed playing table tennis and pool. The only small downside, for light sleepers, was the noise from Oxford Road.

Lovely period style hotel, short walk into centre, in a very busy part of Manchester. The reception area is beautiful & smelled divine! We arrived early to be told our room was ready which was very pleasing. The reception staff were warm & friendly but didn’t confirm we had breakfast included, so we didn’t know the times & whereabouts. Also, we weren’t offered any information about the amenities of the hotel, (bar times, believe there was a gym too but no info given), which would’ve been good to know. The room was beautiful, spacious & clean, facing inwards onto a court yard so was very quiet which I appreciated. The bed was comfy with plenty of pillows which my husband appreciates. Lovely seating area & a huge full length mirror in the recess to the bathroom. The bathroom was spacious too & with plenty of complimentary toiletries. We’d have liked to have stayed for a drink in the bar but it was extremely busy both times we looked with long queues at the bar. Breakfast was a nice set up, lots of choice, however when we got there, we wanted to sit in the “garden room” but all the tables that weren’t occupied hadn’t been cleared. The buffet breakfast had lots of choice & was well set out, however the hot food wasn’t hot, so a little disappointing. We were in a bit of a rush & the staff were attentive without making them aware of our need to be quick. Overall we enjoyed our stay & would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous place to stay. It’s about our 6 th time. The building is fabulous. An old Victorian building … high ceilings, impressive decor of tiles and marble, great bar with lively atmosphere. The breakfast is fab in great surroundings. Staff are so helpful and friendly. Bedrooms , even standard , are great and couldn’t be cleaner. Mad for it !

The hotel is nice with a great restaurant onsite. Other dining options plus a grocery store are an easy walk from the hotel. Concierge and front desk were great. One of the best hotel gyms I’ve experienced. My only 2 issues are that they have company meetings/events which take up areas that can be used by guests specifically the game area. Also noise from the street and the DJ at the restaurant can be loud.

Lovely large rooms. Comfy bed. Snacks provided free. Great breakfast. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because the bar is a public bar and was heaving, seven or eight deep at the bar. We would prefer a hotel bar where we’re guaranteed be able to get a drink easily but it’s a beautiful hotel.

Had an amazing stay at the Kimpton in Manchester. Really enjoyed the ‘Social drinks’ hour with complementary wine. Room was clean and spacious with a great hot shower! We love the Refuge bar that is linked with the hotel, which served a lovely breakfast in the morning.

Had a great stay at the clocktower! Everything was beautiful and clean. The reception area itself is very impressive. The only downfall was housekeeping. On the day we checked in, we received turn down service at night. Our room was left one tony’s chocolate (which is my favourite) between 2 of us. My brother and his partner did not receive anything even though they were just next to us. The following day, we didn’t receive housekeeping in the morning or the evening. Not sure why. Neither of our rooms did which was disappointing.

Smell in room was awful - terrible really - and the room felt really unclean as a result. Some staff was quite friendly but manager seemed intent not to help us make one of the sofabeds in the room available as a bed for one of our kids - he claimed they didn't too sofabeds when the room had an extra bedrom with a proper sofa and sofabed - all we needed was extra linen and blankets/pillows but this wasn't easy to get. Will never, ever stay at this hotel again...

Your staff are fabulous, the reception staff were so courteous, friendly, professional and welcoming. The staff at breakfast were professional, helpful and friendly. I only spoke to one man who I think might be a cleaner, he was also very helpful, directing me to the loos. Overall, made to feel so welcome. The hotel is beautiful, rooms comfy, everything you could possibly need, comfortable beds and beautifully decorated, would have liked a room where windows open but didn't matter too much. My only very small concern, and I'm hoping you don't mind me saying...the rooms are spotless, however, there are signs in the bathroom of little bits of dirt. I always think it would be a good idea for the housekeepers to actually sit on the loo and sit in the bath to see where they've missed. Sorry to be fussy but an example of this is the handle of the bath was a bit grubby and under the stainless steel air vent in the bath has been missed.

Loved our stay at the Clocktower. Our room was beautiful - we were very impressed. It was a lot more spacious than our room last time. We also enjoyed the social hour which the hotel offered. Only down fall was our bathroom was not very clean on our arrival - I cleaned the shower / sink before using them. Our key also stopped working on the second day for some reason.

1st room given to us was dirty. AC never worked in the room. Hotel has a club in front of it & you hear loud noises till 3am in the room. Overall a horrible experience. Will never go back..

Amazing architecture. Quirky. Superbly comfortable bed. Let down by terrible (non-existent) WiFi and draughty room - we were in 400, the bedroom was fine but the living area had a big gap under the door through which a cold draught came. We ended up using cushions as a makeshift draught excluder. Staff were all brilliant - special mentions to Gabriella and Kate on Reception. Teenage daughter loved the ghost stories attached to the building, we had to locate room 261 and the haunted (and stunning) staircase was right next to our room. The Winter Garden was sadly closed so we ended up grabbing drinks from the Refuge bar and taking them up to our room (as the bar was packed) before venturing out for food. We will definitely be back.

The appearance of the room had a wow factor as soon as we walked in but that soon changed when we realised how close to the railway track we were. We were 20 yards from the tracks and at the same height so the regular trains passing most of the night was terrible. The room was never warm which I assume was due to the height of the single pane windows. Finally the front of the wc in the bathroom was so close to the facing wall it was a joke. Everything else in the hotel was perfect but I do not think room 162 is fit for purpose and should not be used. We would return if we were guaranteed a room at the other end of the hotel as it is so handy for the city centre.

Excellent hotel but beware to avoid thr Lower Ground rooms. They abutt the train tracks and have tiny windows that cant be opened. We moved to a regular room after 2 days and it was wonderful..

Great hotel. Not quite 5 star service but still enjoyable. Our room was cold and we needed an extra heating source to make it just that bit more bearable. The bathroom did not have any heating and was very cold.

The room 177 is extremely noisy not sure if this is because we are on the 1st floor but didn’t expect to need ear plugs! Heard buses and people outside most of the night. It’s a shame as the room design/decor bathroom are well designed and the bed is comfortable. Struggled to get coffee machine to work however they sent someone straight away to help. Would have liked to stay again as location is good but have been put off by the noise.

Lovely hotel in a handy location. All was going well after check in and the room was very nice. However, where this hotel falls down massively is when you actually go to sleep. By far the noisiest hotel room I’ve ever slept in. They put us as a family of four with two young kids, in the room overlooking the railway tracks and all we heard all night was the trains coming and going and screeching on the tracks. There is also a very noisy bar outside which was playing loud music with people shouting until after 2am. Our room had the original wooden, single glazed windows, which didn’t help. A shame as the hotel was nice but I wouldn’t stay here again when visiting Manchester.

If you are short there is absolutely no mirrors you can do your make up in. Air con was difficult to know how to switch on especially in the middle of the night. Coffee machine in room wasnt working correctly. Bed was very comfy and it was very clean. Came down for breakfasts and couldnt believe how messy it was 90% of tables absolutely covered in plates. Coffee was forgotten about and then when they brought it, it was cold

The hotel is lovely. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Our room was large and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The bee shaped chocolates on the bed was a nice touch. The only downside was the noisy pub/bar opposite the hotel on Oxford Road, the music didn’t stop till 3am. Although this has nothing to do with the hotel, it is worth bearing in mind if you’re a light sleeper as the windows are not insulated enough to keep the noise out.

Everything about the hotel is exceptional. The hotel has real atmosphere, reflected in the architecture and design which have been preserved from a past era. All the staff were very helpful and gave us a warm welcome. I would like to give particular praise to Gabriella on reception and Mortisha, one of the breakfast staff. They are a credit to the hotel and the management training they must have received which obviously values the things that matter to the guest.

My Dad and I went to see Manchester United vs. Liverpool at Old Trafford. The hotel staff was great about showing us how to navigate the tram system so we took the tram from St. Peter’s sq to ManCity to take the stadium tour and to get to Old Trafford for the game. All of about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Lots of great food within walking distance, had a great breakfast at the hotel. They were having train strikes during our trip so the hotel staff got us a driver to get us to the airport. Everyone was so nice and helpful, would definitely recommend coming back.

A beautiful building very tastefully decorated. We were there over the Pride weekend so it was very busy and noisy with Pride parties. Reception staff were very friendly especially Kate who was particularly patient and helpful at check in. A mention to Daryl who sorted out a couple of housekeeping omissions for us. Our bathroom door was very squeaky and needs oiling, these small things make a difference. Well situated for arriving into Oxford Road station with a number of eating places close by. Can recommend Giorgios Italian just around the corner.

Staff were really lovely, place is v comfy , great location... but the night we stayed was a bit chaotic. Room service order wasn't taken so over 90 mins waiting, blocked sink, then room double booked and another couple walked in on us! Staff were brilliant in rectifying issues - on any other night it would no doubt be great.

The room and surroundings were beautiful. We had a few drinks in the bar staff were very pleasant, listened to some great funky music with the saxophone guy roaming the floor. A special mention to Tom on reception who we checked in with, he was so welcoming, friendly and he gave us a room with a great view of our city and I loved the free standing bath! Thank you Tom we would’ve liked to have thanked in person the next day! Siobhan👍 x

Staff go above and beyond with texts asking if there was anything that could make stay better. I needed a makeup mirror ( magnifying) as I had forgot mine and Gabriella sent me one immediately. The breakfast is always fabulous here as well

Amazing hotel - can highly recommend it for a special occasion or just a weekend get away. Stayed for 2 nights, and we were taken such good care of. Andrea in the reception gave us a warm welcome and staff in general was very accomodating. Great breakfast, good location and the interior of the hotel is worth a visit by itself. Will definitely come back when returning to Mamchester.

The location across from the train station and in the city center cannot be beat. Our room was remarkably spacious and very comfortable. It would be easy to get lost in this hotel's many corridors, but that wouldn't be a bad adventure since the hotel oozes charm and history; it even has a ghost story! The bar and restaurant can get loud, but the food and drinks are excellent, and the vibes are fun. Best of all: the staff were unfailingly friendly and very helpful.

Great location, just across from the Oxford Road station. Lovely building, welcoming and helpful staff. We only stayed one night but received (a much appreciated) upgrade to a very comfortable king room. The bar and restaurant are especially beautiful — excellent cocktails and breakfast buffet, good dinner. Would love to return.

Everything was great about our stay. Fabulous room, comfortable bed but it was really warm and there was no way to cool it down. I asked for a fan but they didn’t provide one. Good in the Refuge was fabulous, complimentary drink was a lovely touch. Brrss as least was really good - lots of choice. Check in staff were great. The hotel is a bit of a maze but that adds to its character. Great location for exploring Manchester. Would definitely go back. .

Fabulous hotel. Stunning rooms. Beautiful buildings. Really great atmosphere. The only small issue was the service at breakfast. We had to ask 4 times for our hot drinks and waited 35 minutes for a tiny açai bowl by which time everybody else in our family had finished.

A Beautiful room elegantly decorated and very clean. Service at reception was faultless and hotel was beautiful. However it must be said the service in the Restaurant (both in evening and breakfast) was less than stellar. During the evening meal my plates arrived fairly quickly but my partners didnt arrive for a further 20 minutes, we wanted to eat together but couldnt without my plate being cold, furthermore when we asked where the food was she told us it was on its way and it wasnt 3 times. Breakfast was quiet when we arrived and on the menu it states somebody will come over to take a coffee/tea order and it never happened. If this had been a cheap hotel i could let it fly but when you are paying £300+ a night that just isnt up to standard
