ibis Manchester Centre Princess Street

My partner and i were attending a gig at Yes which was just down the road. The location was fantastic for this. Check in was seamless, the charles street multi storey parking across the road was closing that night for xmas (would have been £16 for 24 hours) but the NCP multi storey car park around the corner on princess street a 2 minute walk away was £14.95 for 24 hours if you downloaded and paid in the app.

We stayed for two nights, whilst visiting family. Convenient location for city centre access. Basic accommodation but reasonable for the price we paid. There was the smell of new carpets in the hall (5th floor) but a liitle more unpleasant smelling in the room, particularly in the bathroom (coming up through the plug holes?). Staff we spoke to were all very pleasant and helpful. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment there. Lots of noise in the hall on our last morning, due to maintenance work just outside our room. Luckily, we were already awake. Would have been nice to have had a warning about that.

Unfortunately, my daughter has autism therefore loud noises are a problem so should’ve been notified that there was building work being carried out on all floors. Even a breakfast you had to climb over the guy working in the cupboard to get a coffee. Receptionist was rude. You can even stay or cancel. No sorry no apology.

However pleasant the hotel was is secondary to the absolute horrific level of noise endured from the construction work ongoing. No prior warning, and then 6 days to get a reply to my complaint with what seems like a standard response of "we had signs up warning and we told you upon check-in". Not good enough. I\'ve stayed at hotels with work going on and never had to endure the level of sustained noise as last week, they may as well have been drilling into my head. Be very wary about booking if this work is still ongoing.

I have stayed at this hotel before and never had issues however I booked to stay 1st November 2022. I arrived at the hotel and the hotel had maintenance works which I was not informed about prior to me arriving at the hotel or by the staff at check in. I found out about the maintenance works via a sign on the lift. This to me is unacceptable, as a hotel they should inform guests or this before they arrive to enable them to make the choice to continue with their booking, swap to another ibis or cancel. My stay was very upsetting with the noise disturbing my rest the entire morning or my stay and waking me up. I made a complaint in the hotel but all they said is there was signs up and not their fault. This is not good enough in my eyes as stated earlier guests should be made aware prior as I would not of travelled via train from Liverpool to stay in a noisy hotel, I would of moved my hotel or not stayed at all. I checked of this hotel crying as I was drained and not rested as intended. I raised a complaint at the hotel at the time and they didn't even apologise, I have complained since and been offered £12 refund which is 25% of my booking fee, this is disgusting.

Great stay - great location - amazing staff, very helpful. Big party last night till after two in nearby pub. Not the fault of hotel, which offers earplugs.

Albeit the hotel website does say that there is a multistory carpark (Charles street) this is closed permanently however there is an NCP carpark around the corner which was cheaper to park when using the app so not an issue. Hotel was in a good location about 10 minutes walk to Piccadilly which is the hub of the city. Trams were easy to use . Hotel staff were very knowledgeable about everything we asked after . We were on top floor. Room 708- lovely room , had all that was needed as in fairness we really only used it to sleep in! Would return to this hotel

There is significant building work at this hotel, the outside is shrouded in scaffolding. Construction noise from 0815 to 1630 - there was no reference to this on Expedia or on Accor website - very disappointed. I would not have booked this hotel had prior warning been given. There is a notice stuck in the lift about the noise / construction etc but you’ve already checked in by that point. Poor messaging

The stay itself was in a good location, bed was comfy and staff were friendly, however, there was a blood stain on the bed sheets, under the bed was very dusty and had leftover dirt.

The room needed a deep clean and a maintenance man to fix the current DIY job eg. The sealant around the sink area was like like a child had done it. The dirt on the window sills had clearly been there a long time, there was hair and dust on the bed base, stain on the wall. There was a poster in the lift that explained maintenance was happening that week due to fire reg changing. This poster was screwed up, ripped in one corner and doodled on for my entire stay. Plus side...the initial entrance area looked welcoming. I didnt ask for a change of room while i was there as it seemed unlikley the rest of the rooms would be any different. I'm now having trouble reaching manager to share photos after initial convo via Expedia. They're not replying, so hoping this will help.

Check in was easy and quick. The guy who greeted us was friendly and polite Room on entering smelt nice and clean. However there were hairs in the sink, ring marks on the side, slats missing and in the wrong position so the bed dipped and the coffee cups were dirty. Shower took ages to warm up and overflowed into the rest of the bathroom. For the price you pay for a room you’d be better going elsewhere. Definitely not worth £140. Our room overlooked 2 bars which we wasn’t told about and the noise was a little annoying Breakfast was awful. Cheap bread to use in a 4 slice toaster and the boiled eggs were all well done and green inside. Bacon was streaky, fruit selection poor and the hash browns were tasteless. We are not fussy eaters but that really was the worst we’ve had in a hotel.

It was quite dirty and the bins hadn’t been changed.

The room and bathroom were half hazardous cleaned. Otherwise the room is ok. The worse thing however was the sulphuric/sewer smell that permeated from the bathroom, occurring every time anyone from the above floor flushed or when you used the bathroom.

Cobwebs on leg of bed and up the wall behind the base and mattress, dust and things under the bed. Hairs on the sink area - disgusting!

There was a blood stain on the carpet in my room

Dirty room, not be properly cleaned in ages, mouldy grapes under the desk. No staff in reception in the morning to discuss, just had to drop keys and leave. There's a reason this place is cheap.

Location was good for us and the staff were nice enough, but our room absolutely stank of cigarettes. Not keen to return.

Tv didnt work , and AC was rubbish lots of damage in the room

Decent location, comfortable bed

All was well until you try to watch anything on tv using phone (cast) or internet - tv doesn’t connect on internet (room 219). My view is the street and it can be loud on night time because theres a pub nearby but it settles down. Room is clean and very comfortable bed and pillows. The temperature of the room were just right. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe staying at this hotel.

Quiet and comfortable although the TV did not work

I stayed for 2 nights over a weekend. I didn't eat within the hotel so cannot rate this aspect. The general hotel environment was clean and tidy. The room I stayed in was in good condition with the amenities one would expect. If a fridge and safe are must haves this hotel for you. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had a very good nights sleep.

Windows dont appear to he double glazed. Very noisy from the trainline opposite the hotel especially if youre on the 5th floor at the dame level as the train bridge

Everything was fine apart from the fact that neither the aircon in the room nor the TV worked. It was 11.30pm by the time we got back to the room in the evening so was too late to go get anything sorted but was a very warm uncomfortable night. TV didn’t switch on either and there were wires hanging from behind the TV that were unsightly. But for £85 it was clean and convenient so can’t complain overall.

Great fairly central location. Friendly reception staff. Very comfy beds and lovely large shower. Would definitely stay again.

It is fine, clean, but room really suffers from noise from outside until 3am. TV in room didn’t work.

Worst night's sleep ever. Aircon unit was leaking and dripping all night on the floor To top it off, the night club across the road was so loud it sounded like my room Windows were open (they weren't).

Overpriced, loud, unsafe I've stayed in Ibis Hotels before and been absolutely fine with them. For the hundreds of £s I paid for one night in this hotel I left feeling shaken and exhausted. The free ear plugs in reception were sign no. 1 it wasn't going to be a quiet one. The noise from outside was a lot, once I'd managed to sleep through that someone was banging and moving things from a storage cupboard outside our room at 8:00 on a Sunday morning? Then the worst of all, the cleaner entered our room twice that morning WITHOUT KNOCKING, WITHOUT APOLOGISING and while the red "Skip the clean" do not disturb sign was clearly hung from the door. The first time my partner was stood looking out the window in her underwear and thought it was me entering the room. Then it happened again. I have this hotel booked again for later this year thinking Ibis was a safe bet but now I wish I didn't have. The room was clean, the reception staff friendly, so not all bad, but the noise and the fear of being walked in on at any time are enough to put me off.

Management and staff extremely helpful and welcoming. Always available for anything you may need. Bed and room temperature were comfortable. City centre was an easy ten minute walk with a couple of Tesco Express, Sainsbury's, M&S foods and Morrison's to be found along the way. Train station about a fifteen minute walk. Bustling town centre with many shops plus Arndale Centre. Can't comment on the breakfast as chose not to pay the extra although if ordered the previous day, is a little cheaper, which they inform you of. An enjoyable stay!

Location is good, you're 15 minute walk from the shops and restaurants. We didn't sleep well, bed was uncomfortable. Cleaning lady would come in without knocking, no apology even when we left the Do not disturb sign on the door, found this incredibly rude.

Not my first time staying at this hotel and unfortunately this time I was disappointed about how I was treated: I arrived early (1:30pm) and went in to have my bag stored. I simply asked if early check-in would be possible. Frederic, the staff who talk to me, said no. I asked if I could maybe come earlier (~2:45pm) and he said no. When I returned at 2:55pm (many people were already given their keys) I was told to wait 10-15mins which I refused and so was given a room on the ground floor. I learned the next day by a colleague that when they came in with the same situation on the same day and about same time, they were offered early check-in for a 10 GBP fee. I would have happily paid for it and wish I was offered too. I'm assuming that it is because I look different... I won't be staying there again. Note: the other staff were great.

Staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful especially Eve, one young male receptionist, sorry didnt get his name, and the night manager. Breakfast was good, everything available and hot. Quiet so was able to get a good nights sleep. 15 minute walk to town centre and railway stations so very convenient.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my daughter for her 7th birthday big shout out to the amazing eve and also the manager never met kinder down to earth people they really went above and beyond for us from the minute we walked through the doors!! All the staff was amazing and so lovely defo made friends for life and for this reason I’ll be back to this hotel the customer service is what it’s all about and they are nailing it in their shout out to Dave the maintence guy to lovely guy thanks again for our lovely stay see use soon

A cheap option in the city centre that may get overlooked, but well worth the price we paid. Centrally located for our needs, within walking distance of all bars/restaurants/major attractions.

The Ibis was conveniently located for the city centre. It was very good value and I would be happy to stay again.

Standard ibis hotel so you know what you are getting when you book. Pluses - quick check in, decent room , comfy bed , decent size tv in the room and plenty of hanging space Negatives- the hotel is near the gay village which the bars are open late, I could hear the noise from people outside at like 3/4am there is also either a train or tram track next to the hotel which traiffic kept waking me up. I might have just got unlucky with my room being on this side of the building

Location is convenient if you’re coming in by train, although it was a little confusing at first from Manchester Piccadilly. Almost 15 minutes to get to hotel the first time but once you’re familiar with the small, sidestreets, it’s only about five minutes. Good-sized room. Front-line staff were excellent. Breakfast is fine but nothing special, not worth paying £10 except for convenience. Right beside the Gay village, with a lot of bars but it wasn’t noisy in the room. The hotel location is pretty spooky at night with no one around, especially on nearby Sackville St., so it would be good for a ghost tour but creepy walking back after a drink at the pub after 11 pm. All in all, a positive experience.

Easy to get to from Picadilly. Helpful staff. Comfortable stay, but you are right near a train line which may not be suitbale for some.

We really enjoyed our stay. We were walking distance to the city centre and there were loads of great restaurants around.

Great value, convenient location.

The hotel is very convenient for exploring central Manchester, museum, art galleries and universities. However, it is in a fairly run down area with its rough sleepers and intoxicated teens. I didn’t feel I was in any danger but it is visually threatening. The car park opposite the hotel which is where you are likely to park, has seen better days with pools of water and gushing streams from upper floors to those below. (Water feature?) Nevertheless, the rooms, though compact, are comfortable and clean. The bed was firm but I got a good nights sleep. I was not disturbed by other guests suggesting good sound proofing. Breakfast was excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful.

IBIS is probably the best in its sector. All you need for a low cost weekend in a city. Basic amenities but well maintained, ultra clean and hygienic. Staff very approachable and helpful. Downsides - room wasn't serviced after night 1. Had to go looking for towels. Breakfast more extensive than I anticipated but temperature of hot food was at best tepid. Keys didn't work and needed reprogramming. None of these were disasters. Just reduced the scores a bit. But overall it does what it says on the tin.

Good hotel and friendly staff , breakfast was a bit chaotic , there did not seem enough staff to keep everything topped up as a result I had breakfast in stages as when something was restocked !

Hotel was a few minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station and only 10 to 15 mins walk to centre. Breakfast buffet was very good and worth the £10.00 easily as good or better then higher priced places I have stayed at. Room and bathroom was clean and bed comfy...would definitely stay there again.

Overall, it was all great! The staff were very friendly and the room was very spacious. It is exactly as it looks in the pictures, actually, it was bigger than I was expecting. The bed was clean, the carpets mostly except for small areas like beside the headboard and the bedside table - I didn't mind. The bathroom was spotless. The breakfast food was pretty good too - although I recommend deciding if you're going to purchase breakfast the day before, as the price increases if you want breakfast on the day and haven't paid for it. When I checked in, I connected to the free Wi-Fi, and it was working fine. However, the next day, it kept disconnecting. I would reconnect, and it would last a few minutes before not working again (this might have just been an issue with my phone).

Perfect spot to stay while we were in town for a gig. Cool modern rooms, nice breakfast buffet, really convenient location, walkable to everything we needed.
