voco Manchester - City Centre by IHG

Really enjoyed our stay here. The only thing that let down our stay was a function on in the evening which we were not informed about on check in. We stayed on the 8th floor and the function rooms are on the 9th. Music did not get switched off until 1am, which when you have a long day of travel the next day it's not ideal. I'd suggest if you're staying for a chilled night away you ask at reception to be put on a lower floor.

Great location, clean room and nice atmosphere. The internet connection wasn’t the best and there is no gym or pool.

Before we arrived we were given a code from the hotel for QPark. We parked in Jame st & got discount. On arriving at the hotel the staff were very polite & friendly. Quick check-in, beautiful room with all you needed. The room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was fantastic with abundance of food to choose from. The staff very attentive & friendly. A few minutes walk to shops , bars & restaurants in all directions where there is no shortage of local amenities. Excellent location. Stayed here before & would come back again. Nice hotel with good lounge bar restaurant area (with great DJ on the Friday I went) although the nachos I ordered were inedible. Room was good but (maybe because it was Halloween) I heard club music all night outside and revellers still going at 7am. I would stay again.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the vibes from the DJ playing by the bar on Saturday night. Food was good. Room was comfortable. Did not hear noise at night from doors shutting and other rooms. Car park was 3/4 minutes walk from the hotel. Only downsides were they had run out of crisps at the bar so no late night snacks. Short staffed in the kitchen for breakfast so had to wait for some food to be cooked and restocked (about 15 minutes) so partner had finished his way before mine had been cooked. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Clean, comfortable, safe, central (station and town centre about 10min walk either way), helpful staff. Bar was a bit expensive but that’s hotels for you! Didn’t eat there as we had a family event on. Tea, coffee etc in rooms was well supplied. Nespresso machine in room. Safe and fridge in room. Toiletries good quality. Bed excellent. Air con worked.

Not great…had to wait for the receptionists to end their personal conversation before acknowledging me to check in. Stayed for one night booked this one as looked nice and thought would be a good experience. Had a very early start in the morning but was kept up until after midnight with thumping music from an ‘event’ that was taking place on the 9th floor (I was on the 7th and could hear clearly the songs and music) was not made aware of the event once or would have asked for a different floor or possibly not even booked at all given my early start. You can imagine how crazy loud it was if it was keeping me up in my room 2 floors below! Also reception would not answer the phone during me stay before this even happened would just ring out so couldn’t speak to anyone. Overall bad experience and so not worth the money, so disappointing for a hotel at this price!

Only thing missing is a gym!

Lovely city centre hotel with reduced cost parking available nearby . We were impressed by the welcome when we arrived and the room was really nice with tea and coffee facilities and complimentary water in the fridge . Breakfast was also delicious . Recommended

Rooms was not clean. Pubic hairs on bedding. Contacted staff multiple times about this. New bedding handed to us for us to change at 2am

Room lacked attention to cleanliness. The shower was a main cleanliness concern.

I’ve stayed here quite a few times now, normally it’s clean. However this visit was very unclean and actually ruined our stay. The sink was blocked when we arrived and had to unblock it (ok these things Happen) the shower was dirty and all the black paint was all chipped away,. Our bedding had black dirty marks on it. We ordered room service and it was all cold. No matter how many good visits I’ve had here this one has made me not want to go back unfortunately. For the price you pay for one night you expect at least cleanliness to be brilliant

Loved this hotel! From welcoming reception staff, to spotlessly clean everything, and don’t get me started on how comfy the bed was! Spacious, modern rooms, and in a location where everything is in your doorstep, we cannot wait to return. 5* stay indeed :)

Staff were friendly and attentive, however the room had a horrible damp smell despite being relatively new. Hotel manager claimed it may be due to paint however it was a musty off putting damp smell as if the room hadn’t been deep cleaned for a while. We actually checked out early as it was so off putting.

Loved the style of the room. Hotel was clean and modern. All your staff are friendly. Location great for exploring Manchester.

Can't fault this hotel. Very clean and well appointed, breakfast unbelievably good for the price, beds really comfortable, shower powerful and spacious, staff lovely. Top marks all round.

Room was absolutely immaculate, I could smell how clean it was when I walked in. The bed was amazing and there was great amenities in the room!

Really nice hotel in a good location for central Manchester with public parking nearby. Room was a good size, clean and well equipped. Bathroom was relatively small but functional. On the first morning we noticed the shower door didn't fully close, and that the water would suddenly get scalding hot. We reported both but neither were fixed during our 3-night stay so ended up using one of the towels to stop the water from the shower spreading all over the bathroom floor. Minor point as the hotel was generally great with a nice vibe about it.

Really enjoyed our stay at Voco. Lovely hotel; great room which was modern, spacious and comfortable. Good facilities with nepresso coffee machine and eco friendly pods. Good sized bathroom with big shower. Huge bed which was comfortable. Only negative was some noise coming from a nearby bar which was pretty loud, particularly as we were on the 8th floor.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Bed was extremely comfortable and the room very spacious. Bathroom was gorgeous with a lovely shower. Great stay. We will be back.

Great location and cool decor. Cocktails are good and the discount with Q Parks was appreciated. The only real downside is that the double bed had two single mattresses pushed together…..why go to the effort of making an upmarket hotel and then use budget hotel level bed arrangements? Bit disappointing and not the most comfortable sleeping arrangement.

Great stay, but terribly noisy on a morning with doors banging.non stop, not sure if this was cleaners as there was only 4 rooms down our corridor and a cleaners cupboard but from 8am it.was non stop

We stayed in the King Suite with the free standing bath. The room itself was really lovely, exactly what we wanted, and the bath was great too. We did have a problem on the first night though. The heated towel rail had been left on, which didn’t bother us at first, but we realised pretty quickly that the air conditioning wasn’t working. We tried everything we could think of… changing the temperature, switching the fan on manually, trying both the hottest and coldest settings. Nothing happened. We figured it must just be broken, so we went out for the evening and hoped the room wouldn’t get too warm. That night ended up being one of the worst nights sleep we’ve ever had in a hotel. The room just kept getting hotter and hotter, and at 2am there didn’t seem to be anything we could do apart from put up with it and tell staff in the morning. We mentioned it to two different members of staff the next day. They were both lovely and said it would be sorted while we were out. When we came back around 3pm though, the room was still boiling. We went back to reception and a manager came up to check. She walked in and straight away said that it definitely wasn’t right. She rang whoever handles maintenance, but they basically brushed it off and said they had only checked the heating and it was “getting hot”, which wasn’t true because the fan wasn’t coming on at all and the temperature never changed. We headed back out for the evening to watch a band and told them we’d be back around 11

Staff were all great. Quick check in, good sized room with plenty facilities and with it being at the back of the hotel, very quiet. The not so good stuff: uncomfortable bed, temperature varied wildly in the shower, problems connecting to the WiFi, Guiness wasn't very nice in the bar and breakfast was just dreadful. Poor quality ingredients, dry and overcooked bacon, hard eggs, shrivelled mushrooms and who thought garlic potatoes are a good substitute for hash browns at breakfast?? I stay in Manchester a lot and there's many other better hotels to choose from.

Bed really comfortable and room pleasant enough. Only decaf coffee pods and water leaked from machine. Did ask for view but apparently view rooms are different kind. Good location, not far from station and main city centre area

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was perfect and the location was flawless. My only downside criticism was that the tv wouldnt work on hotels Wifi as I wanted to watch Netflix and when I asked the staff, they said it dont work as only basic channels are allowed which was annoying but nevertherless I had an amazing night in the city

The hotel was lovely - modern and clean. Also walkable to areas we wanted to visit. Most staff friendly and helpful but I found the person who checked us in a bit blunt and didn't really provide much information. Had to askl them questions rather than them automatically telling us.

Nice enough hotel, except for when we’d be sitting downstairs waiting for other members of our group. Security literally stood over us every time. Coming in late, we had trouble with the door/card and the guard inside finally signed, got up from his desk and came out, demanding to see our room cards before letting any one of us in- good thing we had both or ours or who knows what might have happened. Nice hotel, nice desk and bar staff- but the massively overbearing security could not make you feel more unwelcome in a hotel you paid to be in.

Had a lovely weekend in Manchester and the hotel was perfectly located, a lovely environment to base ourselves - with extra attentive staff.

The hotel upgraded my room when they saw my guest was in a wheelchair. I liked the fact they had a hoist, even though we didn't use it. We will definitely stay there again when we are visiting our friend in the wheelchair. I would have eaten in the restaurant but the meal choices were limited to chips and burgers.

One star less for the service because of one of the morning staff for breakfast. I keep looking at them and mainly the main staff, he and others kept ignoring me but kept attending all others around me . It was to clear the plates from my table. And guess what we were the only brown people in the breakfast room. I felt a lot of racist vibes. On the other side the breakfast staff on the 25th were absolutely amazing and kept to the best standards of Voco. If I am in Manchester for work or personal purposes, I will definitely come to Voco. And hope the staff of 26th August is given some training to treat everyone equally specially people with children and from skin of colour

Checked in on the 7th August. At the check in the reception member asked for a holding deposit of £50 from us. Which they haven’t informed us before. At the checkout, they didn’t give us back our deposit money and said the payment will be transferred back to the same card on the next working day. Haven’t received my deposit yet after 10 days! When I called today I was asked to call tomorrow morning at 9am. Seems like I have to keep following up on my payment!!

Clean rooms, friendly front of house team. Great location for the gay village

Hotel was in a great location, central to everything. Nice shared spaces and the King room we had was great. Good size with storage and all we could need for our 1 night stay. Check in was easy and they happily stored our bags for us too. Would highly recommend.

A lovely modern hotel on the edge of the chinese quater in Manchester city center. Close to lots of restaurant and shops this hotel is so well situated.

Had a great stay here whilst in Manchester for a concert at the new Co-op arena. Bar was good, room clean and spacious with good shower, great breakfast and all the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is very stylish with a nice bar in a fab location near Chinatown and Oxford Road train station. Convenient bus stop right outside too that goes straight to the Trafford Centre. 15 minute walk to all the main shops in the centre. Our room was large and beautifully decorated and quiet, I would definitely stay again.

Perfect location, found a nearby carpark which was reasonably priced. Staff helpful and friendly and informative. Room super. Can not fault anything. This will definitely be used again by ourselves on a visit ti Manchester.

Everything was perfect. Especially breakfast.

The room and hotel were generally good. Breakfast was far too busy for the seemingly limited amount of staff. The chef was far too busy to provide an excellent service to the quantity of customers - my wife wasn’t happy as he seemed a little preoccupied as he was so busy. First day there were no vegetarian sausages available due to lack of stock which isn’t acceptable in this day and age. Lots of tables with dirty dishes on and unwiped. Room was fine and kept clean by the relevant staff.

Location was brilliant, bar had a great vibe. Breakfast was not so great. Buffet food was 1 star. Althoigh i noticed guests ordering specific items from the chef. Did not know this until the second night. I ordered sn omellette, waited 30 mins and never came so just left.

Excellent welcome on arrival, facilities were very clean. Room was gorgeous- clean spacious and not cramped at all. Staff who checked us out were helpful too. Close to everyone so a perfect location for us. Only negative- we arrived for breakfast at 7am and some items were already cold, we didn’t have time to mention as we need to dash for our train, but not worth the money for breakfast

Great hotel with modern spacious and comfortable room. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I think I got a trainee when ordering dinner though as he was a little unsure what to do. This isn't a complaint, I understand that new people need time to learn and it didn't cause me a significant inconvenience, maybe a little more supervision for new staff would be good?. Food was good but not very hot. Breakfast was good with a decent choice of food.

Staff were nice on arrival. Room was nice, lovely comfy bed. Bar staff friendly and gave good recommendations for local fiod and drink places. Only gripe was breakfast ( cooked), was cold when ordered through room service.
