Hotel Mar Vista

Pros: Room was clean and adequately furnished. Comfy bed. Location convenient. Cons: Too many things broken. Toilet backed up. They gave me a plunger to fix it myself, no staff available. I was told new owners took over that day and all staff quit. Yet somehow, a staff meeting took up the whole breakfast room. Did they hire all new in the night? Elevator broke on our last day. It made scary noises the whole time. Staff tried to tell me the noises were just maids getting their carts out of the elevator upstairs. I'm lucky I wasnt stuck in it when it broke. Pool was ice cold. Could not use it. Also looks like an unfinished garage with a pool in it. No towels in sight. All keys reset halfway thru the stay. Customers were coming down to the desk to find out why. Staff were telling customers they must have put the key too close to their phone. A whole hotel worth of guests did that at the same time? Breakfast was not as advertised. Prepacked danish, muffin, granola bar or oatmeal. No fruit, juice or hot food at all.

Pool and hot tub were closed. The beds were too soft, felt as though we were sinking in them.

The staff were very nice.. however the pool is down and continental breakfast was not there. Instead there was a sign saying we could go to the comfort inn with a voucher to get breakfast. However at check in we were told where breakfast was served… the pool is down for the rest of the year and that was not reflected on the website. Checked out and moved hotels. The staff were friendly for the most part, but not really helpful in helping with a refund. They stated I booked through expiration so there was nothing they could do.

No hot tub. No ice maker on floor. Area between pool and rooms smelled mildewy. Pool water was very cloudy.

The pool was out of order and there didn’t seem to be anything that was being done about it. We have kids so we were looking forward to the pool.

Absolutely horrible, under construction they didnt tell us until after we paid and checked in that the hottub and pool were down, only toast and oatmeal offered for breakfast the staff was rude

Having the pool opened until 10 PM was nice for the kids to end their day with.

Over all for the cost , it was good ! We were on the 3rd floor , with ocean view . One of the four double pane windows had a broken seal , it was frosted on the inside of the two panes , and moss growing there . Toilet didn’t flush well , like it didn’t have enough water . Swimming pool was out of order . Beds were comfortable . Easy check in and out . We didn’t spend too much time in the room, over all I think I would stay there again , just because it was cheap and clean !

Nice enough but run down and the pool is closed for the foreseeable future which we did not know and one of the main reasons we booked this hotel was the pool. And ive seen continental breakfasts that were weak but this one takes the cake.

Third floor ocean view well worth the extra $20. Hot tub/Jacuzzi was working well. No breakfast, but I go to McDonalds down the street. I went during off season when weather was good but no crowds. Jared and the staff were very friendly. I had a good time. The chorus frogs singing in the sand dunes just behind were were wonderful. I will stay there again.

Booked what I thought was an ocean view room. When we got there it was a room on the first floor with about a12’ tall wall of bushes; no ocean view. The desk said they would work with us for a different room at the end of the weekend. We couldn’t cancel our reservations because we booked through Hotels.com, we were stuck there. When we got in the room only decaf coffee was available, the fridge froze my fresh fruit & yogurt and a bar of used soap in the shower. We booked the room also because a bar & grill was attached to the hotel; it was closed. They changed our room to the 2nd floor, still no ocean view. The room was cleaner, the fridge didn’t freeze my fruit & yogurt, the coffee machine made regular coffee and the bathroom was cleaner. I thought after this whole mess we might get a partial refund. We left early regardless of what we had to pay I will not use Hotels.com again and will not recommend to family and friends!!

I would never stay here again. It was dark, old and smelled of BO and weed in the hallway. There is no phone in room, holes in the wall and the screen on the window was broken. I was shocked at what i received for $187/night. It did provide a running joke for the weekend though. Oh, and the pool and hot tub were both closed. At least the bed was clean and comfortable

Heavily stained, uncomfortable mattress. Mold and rust in the shower. Peeling wallpaper. The room smelled terrible. 60$ per pet per night policy is outrageous. TV did not turn on/off with remote - had to plug it in/out. Breakfast limited to packaged pastries, instant oatmeal, english muffins (with only three cream cheese packets put out for the entire hotel).

The hotel smelled weird at the entrance and the room itself. Carpet felt moist. The bathroom was horribly remodeled. Beds were uncomfortable

Hot tub and swimming pool closed. Rusty and discolored bathtub drain. Not enough towels or other supplies for 3 adults for 4 days.

I woke up after the first of 2 nights covered in approx 40 bites from the bed. The staff said they don't have any insect problem and my reservation was non-refundable so although we left the first morning before checkout, we were charged for 2 nights. The pool was also ICE cold and the hot tub was 105 so pretty warm especially for families. Breakfast was packaged pastries. Beware of bed bugs

I stayed at Mar Vista in Ocean Shores and was extremely disappointed. The first room we were given (Room 111) smelled absolutely terrible as soon as we walked in. When we went to the front desk to address the issue, we were met with attitude, but they eventually moved us to Room 210. Unfortunately, this room wasn’t much better. The bathroom was not clean—the bathtub still had hair from the previous guest, along with their used shampoo bottles left behind. The pool was extremely dirty and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. It was also not heated, making it colder than the ocean water, which was shocking for a hotel pool. The hot spa had visible dirt and buildup, making it unpleasant to use. This hotel severely lacks hygiene and proper cleaning standards. There is also no breakfast offered—just coffee and cookies. I was so disappointed with this stay—it honestly makes Motel 6 look like a luxury resort in comparison. I would not recommend staying here if you value cleanliness, comfort, or friendly customer service.

Walls were so thin I could hear my neighbors conversations. There was a door between us that they rattled for 15 minutes at 10: 00 pm. When i flushed the toilets the the sink bubbled. I went to brush my teeth and there was gunk in the sink. So i had to use the bath tub. I pushed the lever down so the shower was off then i couldn't get it back up. So needless to say i didn't get another shower. I let the front desk know. They offered to send maintenance up. I didnt have time for that. I had a busy few days. They never offered me a new room or anything else. Please be aware!

Super disappointed! Went on a trip with my boyfriend and was excited to spend time in the pool and hot tub and when we got there found out that was closed. Was told we had to go two hotels down if we wanted to use theirs. Then for some reason we had to switch rooms because the front desk attendent couldnt figure out our keys. Switched rooms and still only could use ine key. Next, after the first night my boyfriend woke up with bug bites all over him! Was super confused where they came from until later in the night found FLEAs crawling on my ankles!!! GROSS!!!! All throughout the stay we kept finding them jumping on us and the bed! Will never stay here again!

Underwhelming experience: front desk staff seemed unhappy and avoidant, lobby plain but adequate. Our room was clean and bed comfortable, bathroom old with mold in tub/shower. Breakfast was disappointing, stale muffins and an Apple. Worst part was the blaring music videos in the lobby/breakfast area that drove us out quickly.

I am in my 60’s and this is the first time that I had to call because of a noise complaint at 1:30am. The service was great, these were probably the thinnest walls I have ever had. It sounded like they were in your room taking and we thought they were going to come through the ceiling.

I chose this hotel because it had an ocean view and hot tub. Checked in to find the hot tub closed until further notice. Ocean view is accurate, but it is a stretch because hotel is far from beach and dunes block most of the view. First room we were given had no nightstands (so weird!), tv didn’t work, and the walls were quite thin. To their credit, they let us choose a different room without any fuss. Overall, it’s fairly run down and disappointing. It was affordable though, so if you go, it’s ok for what it is, just don’t have high expectations. And call ahead about the pool/hot tub.

All in all, would not stay here again. Pool was freezing. Room was clean but holes here and there where things used to be. Bathroom door you had to really shove for it to latch closed. I’m sure like most hotels in this town, they’re doing their best.

I had booked a room with a partial view. There was no view. The people above me and next to me were very loud. I booked a room there because they had a hot tub. I took my son. He needs both of his hips replaced so I wanted a hot tub to see if it would help his pain. When we went to the hot tub the water was cold and not working right. That was a big let down along with the no view and noise. I booked through Expedia. When we got to the hotel I found out if I directly booked from the hotel, I could have gotten 20%off. I haven't had a vacation or gone out of town for over 7 years. This wasn't the nice visit that I had hoped for.

The room was great and large. The only downside was no view of the ocean because trees were blocking the view. You have to call the hotel to get a third-floor room that has a view.

Simple room, two queen sized beds, bathroom, TV, dresser and A/C unit. I enjoy simple and this was nice. Also had a nice view of the beach.

Friendly staff, nice views, good for the price. Bed was old and had a huge dip in the middle of the mattress. There was also no soap in the shower, only a combined “hand and body soap” to use for both.

At check-in we notified them we prepaid online and both me and my sister were charged the room fee. My sister was charged her room fee twice after the payment for the room online. I was charged the $50 deposit twice along with the room fee. The owner did nothing to help and the staff was just incompetent. I waited a full day to be refunded and my sister had to dispute the improper charges with her bank. Terrible experience. Over cleanliness was poor and they kept sending emails about their new “theater” only to tell us when we got there that there was no movies playing. Additionally, the lobby smelt of strong B.O. very dissatisfied with this place.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Major Security & Service Issues I recently stayed at this hotel with my family, and our experience was incredibly frustrating and concerning. I arrived a bit early, which I understand is not always ideal, but I’ve had hotels accommodate early check-ins before. Unfortunately, I was told the check-in time was strictly 4 PM, so I left and returned later at 4 PM. When I arrived, there was a long line of guests checking in at the same time, which led me to believe the hotel had only been giving out 4 PM check-ins for everyone. When I was finally checked in, I was given keys to a room that was already occupied—this was a major security issue. Not only did I walk into a room with someone else’s belongings, but it also made me question how secure the hotel’s booking and room assignment system really is. What if someone had been given access to my room, thinking it was theirs? This is a massive red flag in terms of safety. After notifying the receptionist about the issue, she gave me keys to a second room. When I went up to that room, it wasn’t even cleaned yet! I was at this hotel with my family, and it was already 5 PM—by this point, I had been waiting for my room for over an hour. I had no place to rest, and my family and I were left wandering the hotel with our bags. I went back to the front desk again to explain the situation. The manager, Nicole, was not sympathetic at all and suggested we go swimming while we waited. However, with no access to

The hotel was clean but no room service. No phone in room, had to call the hotel and ask for toilet paper and Kleenex. When we checked out we were asked if everything was to our liking and said disappointed there was no room service and our small garbage cans were overflowing. He said we were supposed to ask for room service.

Front desk lady was nice that checked us in.

Nicole greeted us with professionalism and a great sense of humor. She received a gold star from me for her hospitality and cheerful demeanor. Our door was unable to lock when we tried to leave our room. The manager came quickly and fixed our door real fast. She also gixed our door with a smile, and that was huge for me. We will definitely come again, and recommend anyone to come visit Hotel Mar Vista.

We stayed for 2 night & 3 days .. room was nice BUT the AC didn’t work properly-thank goodness I happen to bring my fan from home. The people that stayed above us was rude and inconsiderate! They stomped around all night like they was having a frat party every night. They seemed to not be on top of bookings as they was dbl booking rooms and guests was going in rooms that was already occupied… it was chaotic and I won’t stay there again!

We stayed here before it was the Mar Vista and it was great. But now that there are new owners not sure we'll be back. The bed was 3 feet from the floor and so soft i couldn't sleep. And the gentleman at the desk was never there. And before we came i tried to call and was unable to talk to a live person. Horrible customer service 😑

Do not stay here! We paid through Expedia and upon arrival they were supposed to charge us only $50 for the deposit but instead charged $85 not once but twice! They also over charged my sister by almost $200! When we told them about it the lady at the front acted like she didn’t know what she did wrong. The guy at the front desk had to call his boss to refund all charges. My sister was refunded the next morning but ours wasn’t and when we went to go ask the front desk about it the lady at the front I believe her name is harmony was trying to figure it out and pulled out a list of other customers that were overcharged and waiting for the big boss to refund them. Overall very sketchy! Do not stay here and if you do check your account right after checking in! The place also smelled so bad like armpit! They said there was a theater but when we asked the man said nothings on and it’s getting late. Would not stay here again!

Paid in advance, and this place charged my credit card again. It’s been hell trying to get it refined, and thought it was done, but now another fraudulent charge for $206.68 shows up on my bank account

Very clean hotel, close to beach. Comfortable spacious room with fridge, microwave and coffee. No beach access or view of, but view possible from 3rd floor.

Absolutely had a blast. Friendly staff & very clean. walking distance to food, coffee & the beach.

This hotel offers a room with an ocean view. You need a telescope to see the ocean. There is a huge hedge in the back and the ocean is so far away it is hard to see it.

For the price, we couldn’t beat it!! Staff was very nice and it was close to the casino

Although the a/c unit and the hot tub were out, we know they are just changing ownership. The restaurant was closed , but opening soon. The value was more than worth it.

The pool was shut down what was very unfortunate with having kids. The movie theater only has shows on the weekends (we stayed during the week) and the continental breakfast was a JOKE! Slices of bread and jam, packaged oatmeal and pre packed muffins. No juice, no fruit, nothing warm.

Property was ok. Pool was not. Rude service check in not even a welcome and double charged my card but they fixed it immediatly when it was addressed. Steam from the shower set iff the fire alarm so the fire department showed up so need better fan in bathrooms. Horrible bfast nothing to choose from. For the price of $347 figures it would be better ...not worth the price at all was not a pleasant experience at all.

There were several mistakes made on my reservations (room types, not adjoining) despite my calling several times. The hotel lacked basic amenities such as luggage carts and a crib. They advertised continental breakfast but it was literally just stale bagels. The staff were nice and the location was convenient. If you’re truly on a tight budget this place will do in a pinch, but don’t expect any comforts or amenities.
