I had made a reservation more than a week ago, but when I arrived at 5 o’clock for a 4 o’clock check-in, the room wasn’t ready. I also discovered that the walk-in shower wasn’t available, and the house was full. I was concerned, because I have difficulty with an , and the house was full. I was concerned, because I have difficulty with a full-size tub. After some conversation with the very kind woman at the desk, a manager discovered there was a room available. It happened to be an upgraded room, but they accommodated me anyway, which went above and beyond their obligations. I enjoyed the hotel very much, and every single thing a person could want was in that room. Ordinarily, the Royal Sonesta is out of my price range, so it was a special treat to stay there, and especially to be treated with such consideration – not only of my physical limitations, but of me as a person.

The tub shower was perfect. The hotel had the best gym equipment of any hotel I have ever stayed in.

They only have valet parking option. So if you're a park yourself type of person better not pay for their parking. But aside from that we had a great stay.

This is a gorgeous historic hotel, and on the whole we enjoyed our stay, but it is above an all-night speakeasy. 3 out of our 4 nights we had loud base drum sounds well into the morning. This was fine for the adults in our party who could sleep in ear plugs, but my daughter was kept up until 1-2am those 3 nights. If you’re a party of adults- 5 stars. If you have any children or sensitive sleepers- skip.
