Motel 6-Barstow, CA - Route 66

I liked that there was a microwave and fridge in the room.

First room was uncleaned, dirty sheets, ashes everywhere, phone to call the front desk didn’t even work. Had to walk to the front desk, was given another room, which I had to still wipe down.

Decent place to stay the night on a budget. We felt safe within the hotel property. Rest room was clean. However, bed was slightly below my expectations. No bells & whistles. Something’s to keep in mind if traveling in winter, room was cold when we got in. Had to switch on the heater & it took a solid 15 mins or so to heat up. So, you could have fam members in the car and bring them in after the rooms warms up.

Its also VERY loud there, and I don't understood it bc there was whistling noises and weird sounds coming from outside, then you open the door, and its actually quiet. Its like the wind is literally whistling THROUGH the buildong. Bring a radio to stay here.

Good Lord! When you walk into a reception area and it has bulletproof glass between you and the front desk you immediately know something's up. This place was the ABSOLUTE WORST I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in a lot! Dirty, no towels, no soap, limited bedding, NO SAFETY LATCH ON DOOR (It had broken off when someone kicked in the door and I had to move furniture in front of the door to protect myself. Zero amenities! THIS PLACE SHOULD BE TORN DOWN!

Functional. You know what u are getting with motel 6. Bed was Comfortable and big. TV was just fine. Frig and micro always a plus. The bldg is old. Good thing my husband is tall so he could fix the curtain with the missing hooks.

The only problems we had was the hot water in the shower took forever to get hot. It took 5 minutes or more.we had to talk to management about it because we didn't thunk we were going to have hot water.

It was the value I was looking for. Took a minute to find the rubbed off buttons for the heater/ac but it was comfortable. Memory foam mattresses. The tub was slow draining.

The room was soo hot that everything was hot to touch.. the sheets had stains and hair on them. The bathroom had hair in the tub. We slept in our clothes on top of the bedding

The room was filthy. Dirt and grime on walls. Bathroom lavatory seat was broken. Air con controls were unreadable and had to get help just to turn it on. The pillows were so big they were uncomfortable.

The room was very dirty I have pictures and videos to show his there was mold growing there was roaches in the restroom and eveb rhe walls had swelling from water damage very unsatisfied with room. I would like to be refunded or compensated for the inconvenience of how filthy the room was.

For the price you get a bed pretty much. The hotel however is disgustingly dirt and in disarray. The bathrooms are falling apart and you have hair from other people and filth everywhere. This hotel has a right off the bat “ No Refund policy in the check in room in the front and it was literally pointed at and I was told “There are no refunds no matter what, even if the room is dirty.” I just needed a bed to sleep in that is it. But the bathroom had blood stains on the bathroom curtains and the back door for the room 105 was held together by a door lock on the sliding hinge so people cant get in. This place was so bad id honestly rather would have just stayed in nicer place for more. Dont waste your money here. And they like to respond to these and say they are sorry, but it is obviously not changed and no one cares. Find somewhere better.

Toilet was clogged, lady in front wasn’t friendly, average stay to get by for a night, the front window was in the shower and shower was peeling all over. But the bed was super comfy and room was well insulated and stayed warm and you also get a back sliding door

Room is a bit run-down, LOTS of noise due to poor insulation, mattress was decent.

There was a lot of noise from the train tacks

Room 104 is on the other side of the wall where the manager lives. I could hear their conversations as if the were in the next room at my house. Traffic noise was loud. No shampoo/conditioner, only tiny bars of soap. Drapes had thin spots where light came through. A/C was so loud I kept temp at 77 degrees so unit wouldn’t turn much. Bed cover had small holes in it. The price was only good item.

Ac is good but ac button pad lables are missing.

I want to start by stating this hotel was very inexpensive. And I don't need much from a hotel when on the road: a dark place to sleep, a shower, a toilet. That being said, I certainly got what I paid for. The sheets were stained - the kind of stains that survive several washes. The blanket was threadbare and had holes in it. Someone wrote I <3 U in lipstick on the mirror, and it has survived several half-assed attempts at cleaning it off. The shower, which was old-school tiled, had the tile painted over, and it is unsurprisingly peeling off and showing the tile again. The shower head is about mid-chest high. I turned on the heater, and the fan motor was intermittently whirring its bearings down to a fine powder. This would have been more annoying if I could have heard it better over the sound of the condenser in the mini fridge choking itself out like David Carradine. That would have also been annoying if I could have heard it better over the sound of the trains braking and shunting at the railyard right across the street. If you're familiar with Barstow, none of this should come as a surprise. If you're looking for a crash pad on an overnight trip, and your bank account balance matters to you more than relative quiet and comfort, this place is for you.

Lumpy mattress.

I booked the room for my niece on 9/3/24 and she checked out today. She was I room 201. She said on 9/4 one of the workers just walked into the room with out knocking and the lock was broken. They said there were no more available rooms but did not put another lock on 9/5 she left the room for a short time and her wallet was missing. She had been there several times without issue and first time with no lock and her wallet with everything she needs is now gone. I put fraud alert through social services and welfare system . Because I know the workers there will deny they entered her room.

This motel was great with the customer service. Check in was very quick. The room was very clean, however the room could use some painting upgrades on appliances. For the money it was excellent.

first hotel I ever stayed at where there was no blanket on the bed when I checked in, Manager was quick to get s a blanket. It smelled ok but looked horable , I dont know if the us Bleach when they wash there white items

I tried to discuss the issues with the property manager, he didn't care instead his response was they were easy fixes, and are fixed now. I checked in at 12am. All I wanted to do was take a shower and go to bed. The shower handle came off, it wasn't installed properly. I almost scolded my skin trying to put it back on to adjust the temperature. I have pictures. The hot water in the vanity sink wasn't working only cold water. The microwave was missing the glass tray to rotate. And the rollers below the tray. There was food in the refridge from the previoys guest. The property was dirty, a large waterheater was in the courtyard. At first I thought the manager was nice until i mentioned the issue. I tried to explain to the front desk person (his wife) but we had a language barrier. Instead i asked to speak with the manager. I just thought he would at least be sympathetic and apologetic. I think expedia should know about what guests are treated like.

I rarely write a review when something is not good, but I feel obligated to mention a few things about this property. The staff were nice and friendly, so I’m not talking about that. You are traveling with a family, especially with kids. This is not the right place for you. Homeless people are around the property, around your car, they will come next to your door also with the hotel doing nothing about it. I’m not sure if they change the sheets and the towels because the ones we got some Stains. The first room we got had an awful smell of bleach and we had to ask for another one. The next room we got the sheets were not very clean. Overall due to the price, you can expect the type of neighbors who might be arguing and screaming at each other. If you have another option, I would recommend considering it before booking this place.
