Beware! This place is shady!There are barricades on the stairways. This should not be listed on this site at all. This place is not safe and do not take your children here! Doors are not secure and rooms are filthy, with body fluids and other stains all over.

Should be condemned. Rotted wood. Bio-stains on walls and door frames. Vomit and piled up trash outside our door. Filthy towels and bed linens. I left two nights early in hopes Expedia might do the right thing and refund my last two nights as I booked a different place for the rest of our stay- a place that was fit for human lodging. This location should not remain open. I embarrassed for Expedia for allowing this place to be booked through their app. Sadly, I’m sure this review will not make a difference. You got paid, and that’s likely all that really matters.

My daughter and I traveled back and reserved a room @ Red Roof Inn, 201 E Texas Ave, via Expedia. Upon arrival / check-in, we saw the hotel was EXTREMELY dirty: trash EVERYWHERE, parking lot / staircase / hallways, etc: diapers, broken toys, fast food leftovers, refrigerators, liquor bottles, cigarette butts, cups, etc - garbage cans outside were overflowing with smelly trash - stray dogs were eating the garbage from the trash cans - we saw several rats near the hotel dumpster in a corner by one of their buildings, which was also overflowing with garbage, old appliances, etc. The place smelled horrible and was dangerously filthy in the lobby, parking lot. An older man sitting outside by one of the rooms on the way to the lobby seemed to be rolling a joint & had a pill bottle next to him. He looked homeless, was dirty and poorly dressed and asked us if we wanted to buy some "drugs" (not specifying what he was "offering") - we ignored him and proceeded to the lobby, got our key, parked behind the building and went upstairs to our room. When we opened the door, we found a female prostitute (judging by dress / demeanor) sleeping in one of our beds!!! She woke up and offered to vacate the room for us to use and seemed genuinely surprised when we declined! My daughter and I immediately drove back to the lobby for a refund and to turn in our keys, which was (& after many phone calls & emails w/ RRI is still) refused - We reported

The property is falling apart! Homeless people lurking around the grounds. Incredibly slow and inefficient front staff. After taking in our surroundings while waiting over 30 minutes to check in, we decided to forfeit the entire cost of the reservation and found another place to stay.

The service is great at the front desk but there was a pile of garbage in the hallway that was to walk to our room and odor of the room hideously smells bad it was so bad that as soon as I open the door I knew that that was not a safe place to stay also because there was people outside loud and drinking alcohol. I do not recommend this hotel I didn’t stay there. I went back to the room service front desk and the gladly I was able to get a refund.

Needs torn down. Filthy, broke or missing fixtures, no bathroom door... hinges only. Room not ready at 5:30 pm or even 10:30 pm. Staff was very unconcerned about my nightmare string of events.

Room was dirty. Key cards wouldn’t work. Tried 12 different cards finally housekeeping let us in. Returned to the room at 12:30am and had to get hotel assistance TV didn’t work and no one to fix it. Looked like blood spot on pillowcase. Very noisy, lot of people late night. Many permanent residents.

Last night my room did not have a remote for the TV. I went to the front desk to ask for a remote and he immediately gave me a newish remote with fresh batteries which was awesome, but the remote did not work with the TV. There was no light in the bathroom. There was only 1 Styrofoam cup and no ice bucket. And when I woke up there was a COCKROACH in bed with me! I will probably never stay there again!

The smoke alarm battery was chirping. The phone didn't work. There was dried toothpaste all over the faucet handles. Some kind of brown liquid was dried on the bathroom door. There was a dead fly in the window. Trash outside the door on the sidewalk. The floor was dirty. The sheets and bed spreads were stained. A guy was right outside mowing and weed eating at 8:00 pm, but the worst thing is bed bugs. Also, I asked for a non smoking room. The one we got was saturated with cigarette smoke and my daughter is highly allergic. We asked for another room but was told that there were non available. We were only there about an hour but the phone and smoke alarm were never repaired by maintenance like the girl at the front desk told us they would be. The smoke alarm is a safety hazard. The bed bugs despicable.

There was bedbugs, vomit all over the curtain and lamp shade, what looked to be dry blood on the wall, so many people hanging out in the parking lot that you couldn't drive through and they wouldn't move, people hanging outside the room door and trying to peek inside the window. Do not stay there!

Stains on the sheets and blankets, mold in the bathroom, no hair dryer, towels so thin you can see through them, soap appeared to be recycled or not changed, carpet so dirty the bottom of our socks turned black. Hotel felt unsafe but nothing happened. We will never stay at a red roof inn again.

The first room I was given had a broken safety lock on the door, the phone didn’t work and the smoke detector was cherping. So front desk gave me another room, that TV remote had no batteries, floor was dirty and one bed spread had stains. In the end I decided you get what you pay for, it was inexpensive.

The room was not cleaned at all. We arrived late in the evening and was told that's the only available room. After complaining, we were given another room. This room only had one working light over the sink. The bathroom and main lights were out. A/C unit didn't work. Towels looked used. We were stuck because other hotels were booked. Customer service was horrible.

Worse place ever!! We arrived on May 29 around 3:30 no one was there. There was a number to call no one answered. There was a sign on the door that said $100 deposit nothing about that on website fine. Than another sign that said ‘You have 15 min to get your refund once you check in.’ What????? So we were like ok fine we check in get room key immediately go to room.. Horrible!!! Mirror was off of the wall. Bedding was stained and not washed. Lights falling off of walls. Floor was dirty. Horrific!!! Within 5 min went to lobby if you call it a lobby😳. Said cancel it now!! They asked why I gave them an ear full. They did cancel and refund.. Also parking lot felt unsafe and very sketchy Save yourself people and just don’t stay here!!

It had been a few years since I was there last but needed a night before an early-morning flight. Now it’s a total trash heap. First room had no chair. Second room had no light in the bathroom and HVAC unit didn’t work, no remote for TV. I left with a refund. Will never go there again. It’s a slum and a disgrace.

The manager would not accept the reservation and said his system is down. Would only accept payment through device plugged into his phone and tried charging double the rate. 2 other customers were there at the same time with the same issue. One of them showed a picture of his bed with bodily fluids across the top of the covers. What a scam!!

I checked in, and they did not have any record of my reservation, they try to give me a smoking room. I didn’t even know hotel still have smoking rooms? And then they required a $60 deposit cash only, which I thought was very odd. I ended up leaving before the first night there.

Required a $100 cash deposit upon arrival. Room was NOT clean. Sheets had NOT been changed. Something splattered all over bathroom door. Microwave dirty. Mold on ceiling. Fast food trash and mini liquor bottles in nightstand drawer. Cigarette ashes and chewed gum (?) in dresser, and our room was supposed to be NON-SMOKING. All office help said was “Sorry about that”.

We were unable to stay. They did not have the room I originally booked. The front desk insisted I booked a smoking room with one large bed intead of the non smoking room with two double beds even after I showed my reservation confirmation. The front desk said they refunded me, but it was to a MasterCard not a Visa and not even the correct amount. Supposedly refunded for $58 and I paid $70.

It took two hours to check in between helping others that just walked in and changing rooms, keys that didn’t work smoking vs non smoking. Two hours! It’s not Taj Mahal though. Units inside are in bad shape, looks like certain lords just use them for trading, things are broken, dirty etc. I couldn’t figure out why they choose to help some vs others, it was unknown. For that long of a time I observed things. I watched them give away rooms to people who are just walk ins but need more rooms vs letting people down who had a reservation and just blaming it with a flat face to Expedia! Probably wins the worst hotel in my life so far and I have seen some stuff…

Room 244 We asked for a fly swatter and they said they didn’t have one. We asked about the tv not working and they said none of the tvs were working due to internet. We told her the room was filthy and she didn’t respond. I think it very odd that she has a sign up saying after 15 minutes no refunds, never have seen that at a hotel. I thought Red Roof was reputable but this experience has changed my mind. They have people living there and abandoned cars parked there.

Stay away! The best thing for this establishment would be for it to shut down so other people don't have to experience. I paid $320.00 for one night, the whole time there worrying if I was being bitten by bedbugs or end up with a foot disease from the shower. I dry my dog off with cleaner towels then what was given to us, the bed sheets and blankets were stained, I literally wore my socks in the shower. There were stains on the walls, bathroom door, that I could not identify. The electric outlet didn't work at the sink basin, the shampoo that was provided was empty...I could go on and on. At several points in the night, we had people at our door asking for money and cigarettes. My husband didn't sleep as he was afraid our car was going to be tampered with. What was supposed to be an amazing time in Columbia celebrating my son's graduation was very much ruined by the extreme conditions at this establishment.

1st room had no TV. 2nd one had a TV, but it took all the strength to use the remote. The property at night on the 1st felt unsafe. had someone ask my if I wanted coke I said no, he then made he way upstairs (I went in the room) and he's out there stalking the window, and the other part was a series of events that seemed random, but my inner girl was screaming. The 2nd night was uneventful. U get what u pay for. But as a solo female, ill choose elsewhere next time. But had 2 dogs, they were having a special where I stayed free. So there was that 😂

Checked in late at night. Feels like a homeless shelter no remote for the TV. No light works in the bathroom a lamp in the sink. Bugs. Someone knocking at my door at 5 AM and they will go away. Does not feel the safest and definitely not clean. I only stayed here because it was the closest hotel to the university of Missouri, but I will never stay here again.

We got there just after midnight, lots of commotion in the parking lot. People were standing around talking (LOUDLY!) A guy came out of a room with a steel pipe, brass knuckles, no shoes, no shirt. Whatever was going down, I didn’t want to be a part of. Everyone scattered. I knew I wasn’t staying and it was UNSAFE!!!! My husband was inside the lobby checking in. I went inside and said…we are leaving immediately. We went down the road a couple of miles. We stayed at a much better hotel. I did not get a refund. I will try to work something out with Expedia. As of now, we paid for two hotel rooms at different places for the same night.
