Clerk made upgrade available so we could check in early. Be aware that you must carry luggage up one flight of stairs to reach level with elevator. Also be aware of resort fee.

Great property to stay at. Walking distance to the beaches and food options. Has a pool and a bar in the lobby. The staff is very friendly and helpful, Lincoln who helped us check in and check out was awesome to deal with !

Room and Bed was good, hotel did best they could but hotel was cramped, parking tight and very limited on site. Porter very helpful carrying bags up stairway to get to lobby. Pool was there but small and not inviting, didn't use.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Equus, Waikīkī's last family-owned and operated boutique hotel. From the vintage decor to the amazing staff, the Equus was a great place to start our stay on Oahu. It's within walking distance of several restaurants, the beach and the marina. Things I loved: the staff, the decor, the location and the mattress. Especially the staff. They truly made us feel like ohana. Things I didn't love: the parking (very limited); the bathroom (very dark and no privacy, not even a ventilation fan); and no elevator from the parking to the lobby.

Great room and service! But parking situation was inconvenient because you needed to get a paid parking pass, but that didn’t guarantee a parking spot

The Equus site & the hotels.com site has no info of how many parking stalls there are & that you have to walk 5min across the street to get to the overflow parking area. They have maybe 15 first come first serve stalls for a 68 room hotel, that should be a disclaimer as less than half the people would get a stall if we all had cars, not say “limited”. Check in & Check out- easy We weren’t given the WiFi name/password upon checkin, which is whatever, I have cell data but the amenity is there we should have been given the amenity regardless. We get our keys go to the slow elevator, which is another thing that should be noted upon booking & arrival, get to our room & the keycard doesn’t work, no click/beep, no light/ blink. So we attempt to go back down to the lobby, elevator took too long so took the stairs. The front desk lady said she will redo our keycards, & told me sometimes you have to do like a Jedi & use some force. Walked back up the stairs keycard had no beep or light but heard the door lock click so we just opened the door- it worked Room-outdated, need upgrades, dusty. When it was time to sleep, the key card needs to be in the card slot to keep the a/c on, but our light switch wouldn’t work to turn off the light, so my husband went out & asked about it, the lady said it SHOULD work but didn’t want to come check it, slept with a pillow or blanket on our faces Noisy, hear everything, toilets flushing, traffic, people walking & talking Pics on site misleading as well

On-site parking limited and tight. Room was okay. Amenities okay. View okay. Bar was unique. Friendly staff. Coffee maker and mini fridge were nice. Overall our experience was satisfactory.

Older property but kept up pretty good. I liked the older/antique'ish style furniture. Everyone was Very Nice! The room was clean and the beds & pillows were comfortable. Be aware, you do have to carry luggage up a flight of stairs to get to the lobby and elevator. Parking was very tight. I had to park off property (for $28 per night) because I had a larger car & parking would have been very difficult. Overall, a very good budget friendly property. I would stay here again.

Staff was great, room clean but very outdated, and the elevator does not extend to the street so have to carry bags upstairs.

Google said this place was a "4 star hotel" but rather misleading. Place is rather dated with a very creaky elevator which I could forgive but the room not being fully clean is what knocked down two stars for me. The shower was very dirty with old soap scum and precious occupants hair everywhere. Bed sheets are rather cheap and course. Also sound flows through the walls rather easily here. Bring a white noise machine if staying here.

Woke up to cockroaches on my counter… that was all I needed to see to not want to be there anymore. Gathered my things and left. Also, room located right outside of outside bar and was noisy.

This is a good place to stay. The location is great, the people working there were friendly and helpful. To be clear, i enjoyed my stay and never felt really uncomfortable. But i had some issues. The property is old and has a few problems like water damaged walls, calcium buildup on taps, old carpets and an old slow elevator. The room i was in was only barely cleaned. No attention to detail. There was dust and dirt in corners and in places where it could have been cleaned. The floor was unvacuumed when i arrived and one day i got sheets with a massive brown stain on them which should never have been allowed in the first place. I would stay here again but i think a little more effort into the place might make it go from a decent place to a great place.

The room was veey clean and the staff was professional and personable. Everyone made me feel at home.

The staff are wonderful, but the property was currently undergoing some construction, so the parking lot was very restricted on space. However, I was luckily able to park there with the assistance of some amazing staff. The room was cute and cozy, and clean except for the louvers in the sliding lanai doors, which have never seen a dust rag in their entire lifespan. The top of the canopy bed was also quite dusty, and with dust allergies, it brought on a bit of sneezing that my allergy meds were not quite enough to combat. Otherwise, everything was fabulous. Again, the staff there is wonderful, and I highly recommend this place because of that.

We were quite surprised and let down when we saw our room. It was absolutely filthy. There was dust and mold, disgusting bathroom (toilet leaks on floor) but the worst part was the blood stain on the sheets. Felt unsafe. Guy in neighborhood screamed and swore for a few hours. The 3rd star is because of the staff being helpful in a crappy situation. We were set up with a different room which seemed a little cleaner.

Great location in walking distance of Ala Moana Center and numerous beaches. Hotel entrance is up a flight of stairs with no elevator from street level so beware if you have mobility issues or lots of luggage. There is one (slow and small) elevator from lobby to rooms but it is used by guests and housekeeping so waits can be quite long. Large guestroom had comfy beds but bathroom was tiny with a spartan shower. Our room had an underlying smell of mustiness and furnishings were outdated and worn.

It was a fine hotel. The whole propoerty feels a bit dated but everything worked well and is in a great location.

The room was reasonably priced and close enough for a walk to waikiki. the onlt issue was the air conditioning as it would work all day and into the evening, but we would wake in the middle of the night and find that it was off. It would self start every morning!

The staff were helpful and friendly, location was excellent for our purpose of stay, and the room we stayed in (408) was clean and comfortable. 5 stars!

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Equus. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. My only issue was the thin balcony windows/doors that caused alot of outside noise to infiltrate the room. I know that people running their cars are not the fault of the hotel, but the engine noise was very noticeable until about midnight.

Perfectly good hotel, definitely a budget option for someone who wants to stay in Waikiki. Very good proximity to an ABC store, 7-eleven, bus stops, tour pickup spots, the beach, and Ala Moana Center. I got fresh towels and a made bed everyday. If you're the type of person who just uses a hotel as a crash pad, this is great. Paradoxically, the biggest negative is the fact it's on Ala Moana Boulevard. It is extremely loud up until about 10-11:00 p.m., and then every hour or so a big truck or loud motorcycle will drive by. Traffic picks up again around 5-6:00 a.m. A light sleeper should probably bring ear plugs or something. Also the bathroom fixtures are due for an upgrade. My sink and shower handle were all a little wobbly. Plus the shower head leaked when it was on. My room had a refrigerator but no microwave. Not a big deal for me, but somebody who likes to take leftovers will be at a loss. In conclusion, I would probably stay here again. It definitely meets my needs but some people would probably be very unhappy.

Staff were all great. The location could not be better. It’s so close to the beach and shopping. We were only there for two days and had stayed there before. Beds were clean and comfortable as we remembered. Unfortunately our room was dark and dingy this time. The room we had was good but could use some upgrades. Toilet and shower did not look clean most likely because of their age. Some new paint on the walls and updated lighting would improve the experience.

Large rooms, good showers and very convenient location for conference centre and Waikiki beach attractions. Slightly faded decor, and the pool is tiny and very shaded, but a nice little bar area and helpful and friendly staff

Great location and awesome staff. Hotel itself is old but tastefully decorated. Walls are thin. You could hear everything neighbors do. Everything. For instance I heard a cell phone alarm and thought it was coming from inside my room but turned out to be next door… The restaurant/bar at the front of the hotel was really cozy. We enjoyed our free welcome drinks there with wonderful Hawaiian live music on Friday. We were told this is the last privately owned hotel on the island… hope they stay as they are now - cozy, unique and friendly!

Everyting was ok for the price they offered. The staff were very friendly and convenience to Waikiki Beach and Ala Moana shopping center. The only problem was the window of padio was old and unable to close comnpletely. The noise from trafic of Ala Moana Blvd woke me up some times during a night.

Had a fantastic 4 night stay at The Equus! The staff is amazing and Colette at the front desk is so caring and SO FUNNY! 😆 All the staff were great and they go out of their way to make their guests happy. I highly, highly recommend this hotel! The location is also great, on Ala Moana Blvd on the western edge of Waikiki. FANTASTIC! Will look forward to my stay there again!

It was a cute and fun hotel. We have nothing but nice things to say. It is locally owned, and the staff were so kind and accommodating. We arrived at 8:30am, and they moved things around to be able to get us into a room right away. When we checked out, they held our luggage for us until we were ready to go to the airport that night.

The welcoming and friendly staff was the best part of my stay. I will return to stay here again.

The staff is beyond friendly- they were truly the highlight of my stay. The room was beautiful and comfortable with a great view of the city and a peak of the ocean as well! The food and handcrafted drinks in the Paniolo Cafe were so good that I ate at least one meal there each day! I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will be booking here again on my next trip!

The staff is excellent. The bar staff, Ben, Matt and Suzanne were top notch. Very friendly and good mixologists.

The staff at Equus is top-notch! Lincoln, Radiant, Miss Renee, and Matt at the bar were all welcoming, friendly and helpful. Made for a nice vibe and felt very comfortable during the stay. The hotel was very convenient for all we did—walkable to the beach and dining options! Would stay here over any of the other busy hotels.

This hotel was really adorable! The location was amazing, across the street from Ala Moana and the beach. Room was clean, pillows were comfy. The staff was SO friendly. My only regret is that I wish we could have stayed longer!

Good location for access to Convention Center. Comfortable room and small but friendly lounge.

The Equus was a great location for my visit - I was walking distance to the Honolulu Convention Center and Ala Moana Shopping Center.

Location and all staffs were excellent. Friendly and relax environment. Facility looks old and the room close to street is noisy.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Small enough that there was special attention for all the guests. The cozy little lobby bar was a great place to unwind at the end of the day and bar~tender Matt was a great host!

It was a quick overnight stay for us en route to another island. We were delighted by the friendly atmosphere and comfort of the room and common spaces. The bar is welcoming and breakfast was delicious. I would not hesitate to book again for a longer stay. It has an authentic island vibe with a great location.

When checking in I found out this hotel is one of the last few family-owned hotels in honolulu! Rene at the front desk is delightful and so accommodating. Open air bar\lounge\coffee\pool area is where guests relax and chat. Loved the location. ABC superette less than a block away. Beach&marina 2 blocks away. Highly recommend. I booked thru expedia, maybe call directly for a better rate? Jan 2024

The bar is cool

We loved staying here. Room was nice. The cafe/bar in the lobby was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. We used the bus to get around and the stop is very close.
