I booked my hotel reservation online through Hotels.com approximately 2–3 weeks in advance for what I believed would be a stay at La Quinta. On the day of my trip, I was frantically searching for my confirmation details, only to realize I had not received a reservation or confirmation number. I called La Quinta and was told to contact Hotels.com since I had booked through a third party. Long story short, I was informed that the price had increased and that there would be an additional $253 charge if I wanted to keep my reservation. Keep in mind, I had already entered my card information to lock in my rate, as I’ve done many times before. I told them I would not pay the additional charge, and then I was informed that my reservation was canceled. Despite this, I was still charged $153 for something I did not cancel. This is ridiculous. I traveled 7 hours for my child’s competition, only to be told my reservation was canceled. I had to find another hotel, yet I’m being charged for a reservation the hotel canceled because they wanted to increase the price due to events in the area.
