My husband and I spent 3 nights for our anniversary. The lady who checked us in was very friendly. She gave us a list of businesses that she knew were open (off season). The room was very clean and bed comfortable. The breakfast was great. Only recommendation would be having 2 different kinds of omelets each day. Both pans had the cheese ones one day..then the following day both were a veggie and ham kind. The only thing that was a bit of let down was the hot tub seemed to be more foamy and strong chemical mist that made us cough a lit when first getting in. Other guest who also used it also had the same issue. We couldnt stay in it very long because of it. Which was somewhat dissappointing being it was the thing we looked forward to most. Otherwise, it was great!

Beautiful lication, gorgeous views. Nice large room with sofa area. Great hot tub & pool. Dining area is stunning h breakfast menu changed daily which was nice. Excellent coffee.. Definitely needs larger trashcans in room & bath & more bath hooks to conserve towels.

Pool had a very strong chorine smell, to the point it made me cough. I couldn’t use the pool area due to that and others said they thought it was also bad. I wasn’t the only one cough due to the strength of the chlorine. Secondly, the walls are very thin. I could hear everything so clear next to me well they had intimacy happenings going on all night. It was horrible. - thw positives of the hotel was the location to stores & monuments/state parks. Plus the free breakfast was fabulous including gluten free options.

Great location to Custer State Park. Great coffee. Tile floors in lobby, near elevators, pool area, and breakfast are were filthy. We stayed 3 nights and the same dirty spots were there each day. The floor is so sticky that you could hear the people’s shoes sticking to the floor as you ate breakfast. Not hard to improve or solve this problem. Make someone mop each day!

Good stuff: Breakfast food was good (especially the cinnamon rolls!)! There was light classical music on the TVs. So refreshing not to have to watch news or morning talk shows! Staff was very friendly & cheerful. Very helpful in finding eateries that were still open (it being in the off season). The paper maps were awesome! Extremely informative & helpful. Not so good stuff: paint peeling in the bathroom. Bathroom also really needs a real exhaust fan (not the little one it has). HVAC fan very loud (even on low); HVAC only had 1 filter & was very dirty (needed vacuuming). Breakfast tables needed cleaning more often between patrons. Pancakes were horrible!

Property was close to downtown Custer that had restaurants and shops. Very cute town. The hotel is outdated I read somewhere it was remodeled but not sure how long ago. When we checked in our rooms bathroom was dirty the toilet had a stain had to the front desk and they sent someone. It also seemed that they’re short staffed saw only three people working. The front office desk they only had one person and the phone was non stop ringing. We stayed here because there wasn’t many other options.

Overall, a nice Holiday Inn Express. The room needed to have the paint done as there's chips out of it. The beds were comphy, and the bathroom clean. Breakfast was good.

Nice quiet location, just make sure you wear flip flops, shoes or throw away socks at all times in the room if you want your feet to stay clean. Overall we would stay there again.

Rooms were very nice and comfortable. Even with all the motorcycles in town, it was still quiet. Easy access to all the places we wanted to go to and see. Only negative is that the women who were setting up the breakfast were rude at times and grumpy. Other than that, we will be back!

This is our second stay here. We enjoyed so much the balcony suite. The location is ideal for whatever site you want to visit in the Black Hills. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is very good with a wide variety of options. I will stay here again in the future.

Overall a great experience. The rooms were clean, and everything was in good shape inside the room. A little bit of an issue with the tv losing signal. The biggest issue we had was with a guest that was already checked in above us, some sort of Diamond Elite member who was apparently self-important and the staff was afraid to tell them to stop running back and forth and stomping non stop. The staff were able to move us to a comparable room on the same floor which was sufficient.

The lobby of this place is beautiful, the lobby receptionist was friendly, and at the room was pleasant and clean. Everyone was very pleasant and friendly - except for one person In the morning, neither coffee machine was working. That wasn't the problem. Things break. The problem is what happend next. I asked the woman that was taking care of the breakfast area if she could fix the machines. She didn't respond to me whatsoever, and all she did was to scowl, turn her back on me and walk away. Later, I tried again to get coffee, and the woman in line in front of me mentioned it to the woman. She just barked "It's working" and walked away. It definitely was not working, since it was filling the cup with a half cup of coffee and spraying the rest of the water on the counter that the machines were sitting on. I honbestly believe she may be one of the rudest people I've ever had any contact with, and I do not believe that woman should have a job where she interacts with the public. Moreover, I don't think that Holiday Inn should be hiring people like her.

It was a good stay, outside of the people in the room next to ours. They were yelling and screaming for 4+ hours until almost 3am. I asked them politely twice if they could keep the noise down, so I could get to sleep and that didn't work. A call to the front desk finally fixed the problem. The hotel was absolutely great.

The hotel was very pretty, with outdoor seating with nice landscaping. The room was great as were the staff. The breakfast was fabulous, especially the bacon. The only complaint I have is small but I think woth mentioning. The selection of hot tea was very poor. Many of the other chains have great varieties.

Would not put out enough meat on breakfast bar, and had to continually ask both mornings. Was told out or low on stuff because mgr. had been gone for past few weeks. Also some people have issues with peppers and the secpnd morning the omelets that were served were the veggie no other option for eggs. Last the way the whole thing is set up is ridiculous. You have the pancake maker right next to the juice machine so people are always in the way of each other while waiting for their pancakes. ( which are only slightly bigger than a fifty cent piece,)
