We've been staying at this location multiple times every year since it opened over 20 years ago. We used to LOVE it. It was spacious, clean, nicely decorated and close to so many restaurants. But the past few years seem to be going downhill. They have updated the furnishings again, but seem to be valuing style over substance. Our room looked nice, but (1) the carpets were damp and sticky; (2) the AC was not working properly - even though it was cool, the air was still humid. The room was clean, but (3) the smell of the cleaning products was overwhelming, and the bar soap for hand washing smelled very strongly too. Most better hotels are now fragrance-free - a completely clean, odorless smell is much better than artificial floral scents used here. And while the room was updated, (4) the ceiling still showed patches and primer where the AC unit from the floor above must have leaked at some point. And (5) the mattress is on a platform which sticks out on all sides, so both my husband and I banged our shins on it when getting into bed. And (6) the mattress now had a waterproof pad, which in of itself is a good idea, but the one here was flat, not fitted, and so it clumped up in places all night long. When we checked out, the clerk asked how our stay was, and I didn't have the heart to make any complaint because the guy was busy not only working the front desk, but also sweeping and cleaning up the breakfast area. The hotel is still in a great location - mgmt can do better!

The room kitchen was perfect for preparing our own food or just sitting in to eat what we had purchased. The breakfast that comes with the room was really good and Rebecca, the food service assistant for the breakfast, was very helpful. Overall, a great stay. ~Paul

The Homewood suites in the Providence area of Huntsville is a great place to stay within walking distance of all the great restaurants in the area. It is clean with spacious rooms and a good hot breakfast and the staff was very friendly. The only thing that wasn’t working was the central elevator, but they had another one we could use which was fine.
