Econo Lodge Garden City - Savannah

No, no, no, no. Do not stay here. Pool was not open due to disrepair, entry door to building not secure, free breakfast was sparse and without hot items, room looked like a jail cell with one bright overhead light, metal bed frame, lose flooring, door was bent at the top and bottom, chair was filthy, stains and red spots on walls and ceiling, many, many people hanging around the parking lot.

I like that there's a lot of space, and that it had a laundry facility. Kind of smelled bad outside the room

Convenient parking

Lets start with the manager. There is only 1 ramp for the handicapped to get to the office. The manager parked her car in front of the ramp overnight. There is nothing on the web site informing patrons of the 50 dollar increase for a 2nd night stay. They were doing construction on the building in which we stayed. The pool was unavailable. No coffee in the room. If you call that breakfast you're sadly mistaken. Cereal and small muffins is not breakfast! I had to take my wheelchair to the mini market next door to get hot coffee and breakfast the second day we stayed. Believe me, i will never stay at an EconoLodge again!

Property is in a decent state. Clean and comfy room. Friendly staff. But unfortunately still an old hotel with a horrible location surrounding it with drug dealers, hookers, and homeless. They try their best to counter this with security cameras, however the hall doors do not lock like they should.

The pool wasn't open. The hotel rooms looked run down, it was smelly and they could have done a better job cleaning. Lots of suspicious people around. A lyft driver told us this motel was unsafe and is regularly busted by the police for drug activity and people using it as a space for solicitation of illegal activities.

Pool was closed in July, nothing on website about that. It was ok on being clen, I've seen way better but also worse. There were people getting high near the pool and the hallway of the building we stayed in smellled like weed. Told room service on our way out the 1st day we were good to not service our room. Come back to find out they did go in and on out checkout day when they knocked, 2 hours before checkout, we yelled were good we don't need ypu, only for them to let themselves in the room.

The rooms are not clean. The buildings do not have AC so in the summer, this is a rough place to stay. They gave us the wrong room key and gave us access to someone else’s room with their luggage. When we got another room, it was so dirty. My feet were black from walking around the floor barefoot. The bottom doors should be locked with a key card but they just open. The only nice thing is that there is a lot of parking and it’s near a Walgreens and a gas station. You get less than what you pay for. At least they didn’t have bed bugs.

It’s a comfortable and pet-friendly place. I stayed for two nights with my dogs, and there was an additional $81 fee for them. Overall, the stay was basic but met the essentials. The location is convenient, close to downtown Savannah, though having a car is necessary to get around easily.

Was an ok stay. If your looking for basic and no frill or fanciness this is it. Just your basic hotel. Location was a little concern and sad there was no pool to use yet if there was I don't think it would be good idea to use as probably wouldn't be the safest.

There was rat poop in the bed.

First room smelled horribly of cigarettes despite being non smoking. Staff gave us a new room that smelled even worse of mold.

This hotel was disgusting. I should of read the reviews before going here. The lobby to check in is cleaned so you would think the hotel itself was cleaned NOPE! Though I only stayed one night, my family and I were literally in disgust the whole time. The bathrooms were not cleaned and jail bathrooms probably look better. I had to go to Walgreens next door to get disinfectant spray and wipes to spray the bed and bathroom. The pillows were dirty and when I asked for new ones they told me the laundry was closed and didn't care that I just got there and their pillows are dirty. There were roaches on the bed. The doors in the hallway was dirty likes its never been wiped down. The walls were dirty in the room i can see hand prints and dry buggies. Smh Breakfast was muffins and powered doughnuts from hotess at Walgreens. We check out early because I just felt so uncomfortable. GET SOME WORKERS AND CLEAN YOUR HOTEL ROOMS NASTY !! Cheap prices have nothing to do with cleanliness

This property has a lot of roaches in the rooms you aren’t safe to eat

The dirtiest hotel ive ever stayed in. There was a puddle on the floor when i walked in, after wiping it with a towel, the towel was brown from dirt. The floors are sticky, the beds are uncomfortable and there is an unpleasant smell both in the corridor and rooms.

I reserved a nonsmoking room but the room smelled like cigarettes. The room was dirty and there was a dead roach in the bathroom. The paint was peeling plus the walls and doors had stains on them.

The hotel looks nothing like the pictures. It is run down the beds are hard. It smells bad like mold in the hall and in the rooms.

Very cheap and old property. We saw cockroaches, hair, noisy exhaust fan.absolutely no tea/cofee stuff in the room. Only 1 sachet was there. Clearly booked for 3 adults and a child. Not enough towels for 4 people. No hot breakfast. Breakfast is just us less. I will never book /suggest this properly ever.

We were traveling and booked at the last minute. The hotel and room is what you’d expect for the price. The hotel clerk was friendly and efficient. The room itself was decent and clean.

The pictures look nothing like in person rewl time . The hotel needs a major renovation. We had to change rooms because the first room air conditioning unit wasnt working. The rooms had roaches in them. We didn't want to leave food or drinks out. Put everything in the refrigerator. The furniture is old and dated. The bathroom shower had wallpaper peeling and brown ceiling waterspots . The location is close to the interstate and the neighborhood is somewhat sketchy but we stayed quiet and kept to ourselves . The staff are friendly . I would not stay here again. Would not recommend the hotel . They also charge 50 dollar room deposit which isnt listed on the website

Room was poor. There was water under the tile in the bathroom that would push through when you stepped on it. The pillows were lumpy. The halls smelled of mildew and smoke.

If you are looking for a decent place to sleep without spending a lot, this will do the job. For the price, it was clean, appliances in the room worked. There was an ironing board and iron, as well as a blow dryer. They offer a continental breakfast but we didn't take advantage of it, so I can not comment on that. Wifi is available but kept dropping off. Rooms are a bit dated. Overall, it worked for what we needed.

Checked in Friday. Looked like out door had been kicked in. The TV didn't work, called the front desk she said she would send a maintenance man down. We left he never came. When we got back I called back down to the office and was told very rudely that they were busy and nobody was coming ....didn't get the problems fixed until Saturday night and we checked out Sunday morning.

Like-> ground floor, hot shower, nice employees Dislike-> bed & pillows were uncomfortable, no smoke detector in room, toilet ran all night

I will never return to that particular EconoLodge, customer service very poor. My Driver's License was not returned for over 20 hours that I stayed in the premises, when I checked out the lady at the desk did not return my ID. I had to incur unnecessary costs to recover my ID. Terrible experience.

The staff were all very nice.

They would not answer the phone to confirm rooms and eta. Couldn’t find the hotel called 10x at 10pm then left me outside while checking me in while the weather was 20 degrees waiting for 15 min before letting me in

We waited over 45 minutes for a dirty room! First told no reservation, but staff hadn't even looked! We arrived 30 minutes prior to shift change; staff wouldn't to check us in claiming no rooms. Conveniently a room was ready as soon as the next shift finger counting their change drawer. That is some serious shady customer service! Explained my dissatisfaction for wait to incoming staff & they were extremely rude. Overall we were treated as though we inconvenienced them! There were 5 parties when I arrived. Two were helped as soon as they walked in - no questions asked. Three others like us, forced to wait extensively long time. Finally get into our room & building is unsecure! They don't lock exterior doors!! Toilet had dried urine all over it, the floor hadn't been swept or mopped, not enough pillows, no breakfast served the next morning, no coffee service in room - wasn't restocked! The paint on the back of the bathroom door was bubbling and peeling. No hairdryer but had iron and ironing board - made no sense to me. EconoLodge is usually a less than quality chain. Most of my experiences are just like this one. Never complained on this stay because I'm sure manager is the one that checked me in. Probably contracted Hep C from this stay... that's how gross it felt. Spend the money and go somewhere else! I got LESS than I paid for. Overpriced for the quality.

Staff was rude. Our key card stopped working and they tried to deny us access to our paid room with our things inside. Staff was very argumentative and unapologetic. Do not recommend!

They are so friendly

Over all the room had mold in tub and on ceiling looked like there was a water leak before and floors definitely were coming up. I only stayed one night for work but when i checked out i forgot a pair of my favorite sandals so i called to see if a maid has returned them and the lady couldn’t tell me over the phone and kept saying call back tomorrow so i came to hotel and they had an attitude about having to check the storage room for them. My shoes were returned but why souls a customer have so much trouble retrieving items that may have been left behind. It happens people leave things but you shouldn’t have an attitude about it just simply look in the list and found if it’s there cool if it’s not still cool but customer service was horrible

Staff was rude. Key card didn't work and staff tried to deny us access to our paid room with our things inside. They were very argumentative and non apologetic. Room was not very clean either. Would not recommend!

Location

This is a decent budget property alternative to Savannah hotels. We've used it twice now when looking to do a last-minute weekend getaway to Savannah, and nothing was available downtown for less than $300 a night. The rooms are decent with minimal frills, but it's only a 5-minute, $10-15 Lyft ride into the historic district.

Dont allow the property look outside to stop you this place for what i needed one day and location maybe 10 minutes from downtown but close to a diner which was great and alot close by

Cheap hotel but leaves a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness. Breakfast is very simple but fair for the price. The location is a bit strange and it doesn't seem very safe. I wouldn't stay there again.

It was a good stay! For the amount of money i wanted to spend on, it was on point. It was comfortable enough, did not smell like smoke/cigarettes, bathroom was clean, 2 beds clean and towels. The front desk lady was nice when I checked in. Overall, it is a great place to sleep in and refresh. I also like that they have microwave, fridge (everything got frozen, I guess I had to adjust the temperature). The place is like 12-15mins drive to downtown Savannah where we wanted to go and probably 30minutes to Tybee Island. I highly recommend this place if you have a car and just looking for a place to stay.

No breakfast except 4 random loose powdered doughnuts. Roaches everywhere, even the ceiling. No coffee, hot water or tea. If I could rate it a 0, a zero it would be. Don’t stay here, unless you like all of the above.

It was good for a two-night stay and we were not in the room much. Was disappointed that here was no protein for breakfast, as that was one reason we chose the hotel. But overall decent for short stay.

Area is good but their breakfast was lousy, no variety just coffee, juice and bread and mini muffins.

The facility was in a location that did not feel safe at all. The room was supposed to be non-smoking, but there was a strong smell of cigarettes in the room. The parking lot was right outside the room and loud talking could be heard past midnight. The breakfast was one of the worst I have had. There was cereal, coffee, milk, bread and muffins which tasted stale. They ran out of sugar and when I asked for more, I was told they did not have any. Thankfully I had reserved the room for only one night!

What is the point in having a continental breakfast when you have three pieces of bread and two muffins sitting out and both containers of creamer are completely empty. All this over an hour before it is set to shut down.

The property is older, but updated and clean. The room has an iron and board, coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave, but no hair dryer (by request?). The room was pet-friendly and large. Breakfast was basic: cereal, toast, muffins, juice, coffee. Nothing hot or fresh like waffles, oatmeal, or bagels. Another building was all long-term guests, and an ambulance or police visited the property daily. I still felt safe and it was clean. I didn’t leave valuables in my room during the day. This property was an upgrade from my previous experience 15 minutes away!
