Tony runs the place and was very welcoming. It is a lovely property in a wonderful setting with plenty of parking for guests. I had a really nice room with a great shower and very comfy bed. The place is very near to some good dining options for the evening. Cooked breakfast was ok but overall a very pleasant stay which I would use again for sure.

Bright, clean and spacious room. Located right off the highway but in a lovely green space hidden away. The room was big with a large ensuite. It is a little dated but perfectly kept and clean and absolutely everything you could need - even an iron. Slept really well which is what you need when travelling. I would definitely stay here again.

Above standard, very clean spacious room with plenty of tea and coffee. Hairdryer and trouser press in room as well as fridge and microwave. Breakfast was fabulous, lovely food, clean and well presented. Hosts are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble will definitely be going there again

I had a lovely time here. It feels very homey and run by nice people. You can hear what I assumed was trains passing from the bedrooms but it wasn't very often and didn't disturb me at night.

I arrived early thinking i would simply store my luggage, but Jane brought to a ready room which was very nice. i had a comforable sleep and a lovely continental breakfast. They kindly called a taxi for me in the morning.

It was an amazing stay at bridgends country side , Tony who runs the place was friendly and extremly helpful , jaynes cooked breakfast was exellent, they made sure 2 of my daughters one was vegan and the otherone glutenfree diet was served appropriate brekfast

Tony was very welcoming great greeting friendly happy person I asked where I could get a meal and he gave me directions to a lovely restaurant food was great value and excellent quality the staff were very friendly too Breakfast at hotel was amazing cooked by Tony’s wife great start to the day

We visited Wales to attend a family funeral, and Hazelwood quickly became a haven of peace, comfort, and warmth for us during a difficult time. The innkeeper Tony was so caring and thoughtful and made sure that every detail of our stay was just perfect. We will be back to Wales for otrher family events, and we will never stay anywhere else. Thank you, Tony, for creating such a lovely home away from home!

The location is excellent, very peaceful. There is a railway line next to the property but it didn't appear to be a mainline and didn't bother us, even though we slept with our windows open (a great bonus these days). Sadly we were unable to taste the breakfast as we had an early appointment, but I am sure it is as good as the property is. Our appointment was in Cardiff and the guest house is a good location as we were very near the M4 and it took only about 40 minutes to get there. The room price was great so I would recommend this property as a good place to stop whether you are travelling to Bridgend, Cardiff or Newport.
