We had reservations for this weekend. Upon arrival, there was signage that the fire alarms and sprinkler system is not working. We were able to cancel without charge. Should have been communicated in advance. I don’t know how this is legal to occupy. Definitely not comfortable staying in a hotel without working smoke detectors

The property was clean and well taken care of. No Elevator here (if you are on the 2nd floor). The stairs to go from the front desk to the 2nd-floor traverse through the pay laundry room, which is a little weird. Advise taking the side door in after you check in to avoid this especially if you are loading and unloading with your room closer to the front of the lobby (with your room card). Breakfast with standard continental flair and ok.

The property was clean and had very comfortable beds. There were only 2 issues we incountered. While we were there the fire system was not working. If we saw indications of fire, the signs told us to call 911 and get out. I was concerned about how they would let motel guests know if there was a fire. The vent in the bathroom did not work. When we showered the mirror outside the bathroom would fog up and the whole room felt muggy. Even with the air conditioning on it was always slightly humid. I informed the front desk about the vent when we checked out so hopefully it is fixed for the next guest.

Back entrance door didn't close completely therefore it never was locked. It felt very unnerving to know anyone could gain entrance and hang out in the stairwell or enter the room area.

The property has been updated & the staff were very friendly and professional. However, we were pulling in late and there is not enough parking lot lighting, and it didn’t feel safe for us.

The price was good. HOWEVER No elevator. I had to carry two suitcases up the stairs. No ice machine on the second floor and the one on the first floor didn’t work. No regular cream for my coffee.

It was a good fit for the purpose we were in town. It met my expectations. Staff is outstanding. The included breakfast was good. The only shortcoming was a lack of ice machine or vending machines on the second floor. A beverage vending could not be found on the premises.

I absolutely hate writing terrible reviews. However, I felt uncomfortable staying in this hotel because of how dirty it was. There were literal crumbs on my bed when I got to my room and dirty Q-tips behind the furniture. Since I was only there for a I decided to try and it out until I noticed that someone else’s belongings were in the corner of the room on the floor. How can you clean a room and not find someone else’s belongings? In addition, the front desk would not refund my money. They said they could not because it was booked through Expedia. I will say the staff was kind and took me to multiple rooms until I found a room that I was satisfied with. However, even that room had crumbs next to the bed. I have taken pictures. So sad - just wanted a good nights sleep.

Room was clean but the bathroom was not. My wife had to take a shower due to surgery scheduled the next day. The shower was filthy! Soap scum on all the walls and black hair on the floor and in the drain. She had to clean the shower before she could use it.

The hotel was gross. It had not been swept. There was hair in the inside of the shower curtain. They do not clean the room, replace the towels while you are out. We had to go to the front desk the second day to get fresh towels. The lamps did not work in the room so you had no lighting. Which was also a problem to charge your phone since that was the plug in. There were holes you could feel in the floor. And there were stain on the sheets. NEVER AGAIN!

Dirty room with an old used bar of soap in the shower. Obviously doesn't get cleaned very well. The stairs and hallway didn't look like they had been vacuumed in forever. All in all, a run down hotel that is lacking care and maintenance.

My wife and I spent one night at Super 8 by Wyndham Portage on our way home. We really enjoyed our stay because our room was exceptionally clean and tidy. Additionally, the staff was very professional and knowledgeable. We will definitely stay at this facility the next time we are in the area! Cordially, Don and Mary Peckels

I guess I was expecting more based off reviews; I will not be returning to this hotel. The interior walls were very dirty with reddish/brown splatters on them, the chain door guard was missing a piece so I could not lock it, and there was no toilet seat. In addition, the security lock on the outside door from the parking lot was broken, so anyone could enter the hotel without a keycard. The stairs and hallways also smelled old and musty/smokey… This hotel definitely needs a makeover in all aspects!!

This was definitely a case of you get what you pay for. It was not soundproofed so I heard my neighbor's tv and every conversation in the hall or outside near my room. The room was mostly clean, but there was dirt behind the bathroom door and cobwebs on the ceiling. No recycling. The lobby restroom had no paper towels. The front desk staff was adequate. No problems but not friendly either. Lumpy pillows. Comfortable recliner though.

The hotel clerk was nice and had us checked in quickly. The property is a little funky, we had to enter a door in a hallway- then walk through a laundry room/area to get to the stairs, as our room was on the second floor. Also, we were given a room with 2 double beds, and I would have preferred a queen or king bed. One of the beds in the room was awful- we just sunk into it (felt as though it was 30 years old). We decided on the other bed. This hotel needs desperate updating.

This is just your basic no thills super 8 hotel. Hotel eas in better shape than others I have seen. Couple complaints, first room wasnt bad but when we opened one of the drawers we found a pule of diety plates from someone breakfast. There was also no tissues in the room. So cleaning staff could do a littlw better. Was able to also hear quite a bur of noise bewteen the floors, halls, and walls. Just the quality of the hotel build. Hotel is located in a safe area, very convenient to the highway andlots of shopping and restaurants nearby. Breakfast is very basic but ok. Would stay here again. Good place for the price paid.

This has been my goto hotel for the last decade because of the price and location. But for the last 8 years we seem to get the same room that has a broken Window that lets all the outside noise in. The mattress is beyond uncomfortable for my bad back, tv is very small and no guide sheet to tell ya the channels. Lamp on the dresser was broke, no toilet seat so you had to be very careful with the towel rack above it. The light switch didn’t work so you had to manually turn the lamps on and off and then find your way to bed in an unfamiliar room.

Evening clerk wasn't at desk upon arrival. Waited 10 min. His behavior was unwelcoming. Spoke fast and soft. New carpets throughout. Outdated room/decor. Rust on shower pole. The bed was very comfortable and good pillows. The room was very warm and stuffy upon arrival. The alarm clock kept making weird sounds on and off throughout the night. We tried adjusting all settings...idk. Breakfast/coffee was available. Juice, coffee, make a waffle or cereal were the choices. No protein or fruit option. Also as we left, three staff were in the hall. Cart was in the middle of the hall. They were annoyed we were there as we tried getting around the cart in the narrow space with our arms full of stuff. The only good thing was the bed..

It's not a bad place not exactly a great view of anything unless you count the Walmart. But the remote control wouldn't change the TV channels and when I went and asked about it they said some remotes work change the channel some don't some you actually have to push the right channels in you couldn't get a remote that would actually work correctly. That may be more on Dish TV than anything else but it is annoying other than that it was okay

When i booked this i was under the impression that there will be a sofa bed or a rollaway bed that could be provided. I even sent a message or special request when i booked but did not get a response. When i checked in the male receptionist was rude when i asked for a rollaway bed and cart. He even said that is the first time he was asked for a cart. We have few stuff and i have been to so many hotels and even other super 8s and cart was not an issue. Then during breakfast we came around 8 only to find 2 almost burnt sausages and that’s about it. The coffee tasted weird too and the reason why i booked here is because it stated breakfast included. When i asked the front desk she said that’s all the hot food. They said breakfast is from 6-10 but did not mention until supplies last and i have kids who were hungry. Not booking with super 8 anymore

Then during breakfast we came around 8 only to find 2 almost burnt sausages and that’s about it. The coffee tasted weird too and the reason why i booked here is because it stated breakfast included. When i asked the front desk she said that’s all the hot food. They said breakfast is from 6-10 but did not mention until supplies last and i have kids who were hungry. Not booking with super 8 anymore

Super friendly staff, clean, decent breakfast (waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereal, pastries, juice, tea, and coffees). The room was clean, and it had a microwave and fridge. The building was a little old, but the cleanliness and friendliness made up for it. Walking distance to a couple restaurants and Walmart. Can’t beat the price for what you get! I’d stay again!!

My wife and I spent one night at Super 8 by Wyndham Portage on our way home. We really enjoyed our stay because our room was exceptionally clean and tidy. I have stayed at this Super 8 many times over a few decades, but had not stayed in the last several years. This motel is also larger than most Super 8 properties, more rooms on more floors. However the main entrance looks more like a side door and the lobby area is fairly small. It is conveniently located just off of I-39, but situated such that there is no noise from the highway. It is at the end of a 'strip' of gas stations, fast food restaurants, and small stores. Unlike some similar motels, it has a capacious parking lot. This property, on my recent visit, appeared to be well maintained and clean, although I spotted a few small flakes of what looked like bits of brittle old newsprint on the room carpeting; I have no idea what that was all about. I did not enounter any issues with noise.

Was stuck in portage for the night, and had to find a quick place to stay. I came in with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised with how tidy it was. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and got us into our room quickly. Despite the fact that we checked in late, there were places within walking distance to eat at. If you’re looking for an affordable and convenient place to stay I definitely recommend checking this place out. Only complaint was that it was slightly loud in the morning due to being next to the highway. Other than that this place surpassed my expectations for what it is.

Breakfast was posted to be served until 10am but by 9:15 when my wife and I went to eat, there were no eggs or sausages and the desk clerk said they would not be replenishing. One of the reasons we chose to stay at the Super 8 was for the breakfast. Very disappointing.

The floor was not vacuumed well but when I talked to the housekeeper she admitted that the room was "trashed" by the last people and she was already in there for an hour cleaning that room. The carpet felt "sticky". The staff was very kind but breakfast was poor. We were there more than an hour before closing and nothing hot other than waffles. We asked for more biscuits and gravy and were told they couldn't do more. No fresh fruit offered.

We really enjoyed the room. The hotel was clean and quiet. The only let down was the continental breakfast. We stayed 2 nights and both mornings, we went down to breakfast. There were signs saying to be mindful of others when making your plate. They put out may 12 biscuits on biscuit and gravy morning… I heard another guest around 730 am inquire about the limited food and was told “what was put out os all there is” if you booked all of your rooms, that’s not even enough for each room to have a serving. There was only a half loaf of bread, maybe 8 single serve cereals, 1/2 gal of milk. It was truly disappointing.

Slight uncleanliness in room (long hair in bathroom, sink area had small spot not wiped clean, could have used better vacuum) but did not feel or smell dirty. Waffles, yogurt, cereal for breakfast…not much protein. But still good and filling. Did have sugar free syrup option.

We stopped on our way through town during a motorcycle trip. The hotel was safe and generally clean, could use some deep cleaning, but nothing was majorly gross. Breakfast in the morning was very sparse, consisting of cereal, bread, and waffles. Maybe just because it was a weekday? Served the purpose for a good price for our one-night stay.

Anytime you use hotels.com expect the worst rooms they have. But this hotel was unusually bad. I had to wait 1/2 hour to check in because the front desk clerk was trying to work out something for somebody who previously checked in before getting me checked it. Then, i was informed even though I booked to rooms, one for my kids, we could not get adjoining rooms, even though our room and my kids room both had adjoining rooms. Then, the next morning at 7:30 there as no meat or eggs left, I was informed the "ran out". So I went upstairs, go dressed, and came back down with my kids half an hour later to go out for breakfast and there were people loading up with eggs, bacon and sausage. The lady just lied. If you real the reviews it has happened to others, believe it. Our room was not cleaned that day so we had no towels when we returned that night. The desk clerk would not bring them up so I had to go down and get them. This place is a disaster.
